    Great video Jones. With enough forward lean you’ definitely apply additional energy to the toe edge. Nothing on rotating the high back, or torsional flex of board due foot angles.

      Thanks Alex! Yeah you can really go down some worm holes with every single little detail on how people set up board and bindings. We tried to keep it pretty simple and straight forward.

    Yo Goodman! Great video! Love the tip of mounting first bolt w/o washer! People ask all the time, whether the NOW screws are too short....
    Love your angle recommendations, too! This '15/-15 as a starting point' nonsense needs to end ;-) Pretty sure the appropriate screwdriver is a #3, though! Great to see some education for the community!

    Question about boot centering-don’t you want equal toe and heel overhang when centering your boots? Rather than have too much toe overhang and no heel? Or is it a personal preference?

    • @Daz555Daz
      @Daz555Daz Год назад

      Should always be as equal as possible. I have no idea why this video suggests you should have zero heel overhang.

    I have always set up my bindings daffy but since I got my flagship I don't ride switch, so should I actually set my back foot pointing slightly forwards?? I'd never even considered it! Does it improve your carving?

  • @xpez9694

    something about mounting bindings to consider that I didnt hear him go over is your boot. Whats the point of mounting your bindings at zero if you boot toe is hanging over the board? it will scrape on the snow and can even cause snow to catch and just make your deeper leaning turns less satisfying. Make sure your boot clearance is enough and if you do have some toe over hang angle your boots accordingly to minimize the overhang. You body and legs will adapt to the whichever stance you keep on the board within a certain normal range. It took several trips to get used to riding with a wider stance and front and rear at positive and negative angles respectively back in the day as I recall when it was a newer idea in the early 90s.... Just like learning to ride switch takes a while to get used to it..

    Interesting about the washer/no washer thing. Never heard of that. What's the benefit exactly?

    • @JonesSnowboardsVideos
      @JonesSnowboardsVideos  2 года назад +2

      Our bindings come with bushings that can make it tough for the screw to reach the insert, so we advise to put the first screw in without a washer so that you can connect with the inserts easier. Then screw in the rest of the screws with washers, and remove the first screw and place the washer back on the screw and screw it in. its just a trick to help you mount our bindings easier.

    Can confirm you never want negative angle on the front.
    Took a trip out to Keystone last season, put my bindings on in a hurry to get on the hill for a run after checking into our hotel, got all the way to the top of the gondola and trying to put the board on before I realized I had the front binding angle backwards.
    Would not recommend

    I wear a 9.5 and my heel and toes both hang over it’s my board too narrow?

    • @xpez9694
      @xpez9694 2 года назад

      First place to start before buying a new board is to angle your bindings a little more to keep from the boots overhanging see what you can get away with.....also you do have a little bit of room to pull the bindings back. little adjustments with the angle and push back can really do a lot to get rid of toe overhang... also some boots are constructed with less attention paid to how much extra rubber and padding is actually added...extra unnecessary bulk... that is something to consider when you buy the boots.. bring your board and slot it in...or measure it... more advanced boots take that into consideration as well.. even pro riders size down and let their toes compress the interior of the cushions until it fits properly.. I cant stand cramped toes. but re thinking your angles to account for toe overhang is part of the process if you dont want to get new boots or a wider board...

  • @jiajianhou426
    @jiajianhou426 2 года назад

    Is 2cm overhang on both toe and heel edge ok for carving? I calculated that max edge angle on toe edge is 66° and heel edge is 61°. Is this ok for euro carving?

    • @JonesSnowboardsVideos
      @JonesSnowboardsVideos  2 года назад

      Really depends on how hard you are carving, your boots, your angles etc... Best to do some trial and error. Depending on your foot/boot size we recommend a wide board starting at US 10.5/11 to reduce any drag.

    you could raise your bindings 5cm.then you could have a 5cm skinnier board .and never worry about heel lift...if you let the bindings swivel on bearings you can be goofy and regular

    Not a good video at all. It’s all based on setting up the disc with the vertical disc placement I call it. I mean is it so hard to just have some arrows for the angle numbers? Like everyone else? Smh
