It is me. I built this deck with Kumena in the lead. Feels simultaneously amazing and terrible to lock everyone out with lullmage mentor, deep root pilgrimage, and intruder alarm
Nice idea, and love the stoy of how you came up with it. I have friend who plays monoblue wizards with a taping theme, it like half this deck but without intruder alarm XD
Thoricle seems casual to me so long as the ways you get to an empty library are also jank. I don't understand the hate for half of a combo without the other half/parts also being easy. Seems like a cool deck where the table really needs to watch out for those high-impact pieces and remove them, and otherwise it's just silly little mer-mages.
I have a very similar tap themed 60 card deck since Lorwyn first came out and aways wondered how it would translate to commander, so... thanks for the recomendations!
I really like this deck. Certainly there's a couple or so things I'd change to suit me better though. For example I would still run Kumena as the commander. The fact it's not both relevant creature types doesn't really bother me. I'd rather have all that juicy card draw in the command zone. I'd also try and stick in some more token generation
I used to have a deck called grumpy old men that stare at clouds that was as much of a stax deck as I could build. It was miserable to play against. I've also played against talrand counterspells, which was also miserable.
How about create a deck with maximum possible amount of companions (i know it is illegal, but for rule zero-why not)? Is it possible to create a playable deck with all but 4 (or 3 if include lutri because deck is illegal anyway)?
Thassas oracle is fair when you dont combo into it, the other day i was playing against a guy who just controled us until he drew all the cards and played thassa, thats Not an easy thing to do😊
@@Dragon_Fyre You’re equating Stax with every control deck? That aside, what about those of us who enjoy playing control decks? Do we not get to have fun?
@@crawdaddy2004 If you are playing a control deck in Commander, you are probably doing something STAX-like that effectively nullifies any relevant actions your opponents take (look at the example in this video, it basically just reaches a point where anything that your opponents do is countered and playing out the game is merely a formality). The point I was making in OP is that most control decks in Commander play like this wizard-merfolk deck. They are for the most part not fun to play versus in a casual game (I don’t mind it in competitive two-player formats).
@@Dragon_Fyre While I am going to the absolute opposite (argumentetum absurdum), just play a solitaire game. What is the point of playing MtG with other people (whether 1v1 or multiplayer) if a simple counterspell or Swords to Plowshares is going to get you in a tizzy?
I dont play against decks with a ''doubler'' in the command zone period. Most disgusting shit ive seen at tables is this. Now i know in this case youre not making tokens every turn, but just wanted to say my thing when i see someone use a card like this as a commander.
Merfolk, Wizards, doing things that Magic players hate? You should name the deck "Wizards of the Coast".
Underrated comment
Effing BRILLIANT!@#$%&* 😅👌
Take a shot every time he says "Merfolk" or "Wizard".
2 minutes in and I'm already drunk
Ah hell no lol
Started lining up shots but saw that I’d die
We played this game at Tolerian Community College back in the day 😅
Take three shots instead every time he says “merfolk or wizard” as one phrase.
With all the abilities to tap your own creatures, Lost in the Maze would be a great protection piece, giving all your tapped creatures hexproof

Not sure if you have it in the deck already, but "Faces of the Past" would work pretty well in the deck I think.
great include

Love your decks!
I love this deck idea. I want to play it and drink the tears of my opponents!
Cryptolith rite fits here too. Might as well use your creatures for ramp.
Pretty high salt level in this one, but you know what? I love it 😂
I see obnoxious. I see Simic. I understand.
much understanding
@@satchmosanzabar9023 so Simic. Wow.
I feel throne of the god paharoh would be kinda fun here
I've tried and failed to make this kind of deck a few times, didn't think to make Adrix and Nev the commander, that's pretty smart.
Demo's Archenemy Arc is beginning and I'm sooooo ready for it
I built an Azami decks many years ago that was based on tapping wizards. I played three games, won three games, and bored everyone else to tears.
I have a very similar tap themed 60 card deck since Lorwyn first came out and aways wondered how it would translate to commander, so... thanks for the recomendations!
that deck looks very strong, reminds me of my rashmi whichgoal was to counter everything
Supreme Inquisitor is pretty cool!

I think I need to build this to match my friend style.
Thassas is casual unless you have another card that makes it a win con (tainted pact, demonic consultation)

I’m really surprised nobody hasn’t commented it yet. But I feel like there’s a certain new bird wizard that would go great in the 99 this deck.
Nadu, if it’s not obvious.
Who do?
There is an enchantment form LCI that creates a merfolk token everytime a merfolk is tapped that helps with the mill and the counter combos
Deeproot pilgrimage
i have a five color "do you pay the x?" deck. to fill the gaps i also put in monarch, day/night, enter the dungeon and initiative.
that's a hard no from me dawg
I considered the Wonder Twins for my Simic Commander, but Edric Spymaster won me out.
Oh man, this deck is nice 😎
Oh.... I like this. Consider them annoyed, Sir. I'll mention your name as the culprit.
I have a Thrasios wizard tribal deck... the last 2 times I played it the table scooped
straight up evil
I loved the idea, I already have a ln Azami deck that is almost like that, but I already have a simic deck, maybe I can do it 3 colors
I think omo queen of vesuva would be great commander for this
Adrix is a kill on site commander in my books
I build this in bant with tocasia.. wanted to add white in it for the banneret that makes wizard tokens. It was semi janky ;)
WE BREAKING RULE 0 WIT DIS 1 🔥🔥🗣️
Everyone's most obnoxious deck is their Simic deck! Hahah
@@AdvocatorofHeresy mines zedruu or atraxa, nobody seems to mind my simic stuff.
No wizard's retort? I've seen a few wizard heavy decks that don't have it, is there something I am missing about that card?
why run that if theres counterspell swan song etc.
Really missing a throne of the god pharaoh here tho could be a good win-con to speed up a locked game
My Kumena deck is my most annoying deck but I still would never play Lullmage mentor 😂
My Kumena build is absolutely stinky!

Cool deck, but it’s gonna survive a total of 2 games before you take it apart
Done that with tiny bones, instant hate when play it
I love the deck. It's so brutal and mean and synergistic. But please don't call it casual. Own how evil this thing is and lean into it.
Adrix and nev doesn’t seem like your kind of commander even though it’s not the focus of the deck
Simic, toxic?! No...... XD

sure you could certainly do that. i also liked adrix and nev for that lullmage mentor combo which i forgot to mention in the video.
Yet...
Hmmmmm...
Most obnoxious deck? So simic value?
To be fair its either that or azorious hatebears/tax/stax
obnoxious
"Filthy" casual. 😉
Most control decks are obnoxious.
