They’re not even pretending anymore! That’s the problem with video games becoming successful.
Back in the day, it was a gamble and you didn’t have guaranteed sales. That was when real merit was key to success.
Now they can rely on simp buyers and safety nets to produce slop that still makes a profit. Absolute digital dystopia. It’s actually a miracle slop like Metaverse failed. You’d think the crack addicts would buy those VR headsets to play in their _Cozy_ *rainbow goop.*

When I was a kid, I grew up with games with badass covers like Golden Axe, Streets of Rage & Contra. Then as an adult in my 20s, badass games still had badass covers like Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden Left 4 Dead. Then in the modern era, there's nothing but Doom, everything else is gay. Seriously Doom is the only series left that's still badass.

I think a HUGE reason (besides the fact gaming is littered with cancerous-creativity murdering-DEI standards and hires and "consulting firms" like SB Inc) is due to the fact 99% of AAA games now are innately designed for ****ing mindless children, who have zero frame of reference for anything historical/military/crime related-other than the Hollywood garbage they've been in-taking for maybe a FEW years at best since their parents started letting them watch that stuff at 12-14yrs old . . .
A campaign like Brothers in Arms, with actual battles being fought mimicking real tactics and formation, real dates and locations being used, references for real human beings like General Monty or Patton or Rommel or figures like Himmler and Goering; most kids now don't know (or even don't want to) about ANY of that stuff thus something like "COD Vanguard" where you play as a one-woman-army Soviet female sniper and the do-it-all black English soldier who was lazily based on a real person yet everything he did in-game is highly fictionalized and downright absurd, the story is basically like a woke Michael Bay movie on steroids.
Compare that to say World At War, one of the grittiest and most violent depictions of WW2 in any modern entertainment media to date, showcasing the brutality and violence and death on BOTH sides of the war (something they'd never do again EVER), showcasing multiple battles and historical events often quite accurately at that (all things considered), most of the firearms barely have any customizable attributes and most people really didn't care too much either way, no cosmetics whatsoever just default and historically authentic Wehrmacht/Red Army/US Marine/Imperial Japanese Army soldiers. THAT was a game designed for an 18+ audience, children playing was simply a byproduct as with most all Rated M games back then. It's truly quite scummy and ****ed up, these companies are basically preying on children and psychologically designing these games to pull them in and encourage them to splurge on microtransactions with their parents credit cards . . . .

Personally, once I made my case about a particular game/topic, I'd try to get the community to reach out/write the publishers, and let them know you're disappointed with things (in a respectful manner), and then focus on the games and studios that aren't following these stupid trends. its been proven time and time again that these so called "strong men", such as hunters when compared to farmers, or barbarians when compared to romans, have failed to survive as a dominant power, as they are overcome by these "weaker men", the romans or farmers in my example, which have the technology, luxury, safety net and the means to be "stronger". so this quote, taken from a sci-fi novel, has almost no actual real world representation.
these "good times" you are talking about is the period in which a civilization flourishes, thus creating these "strong men". thats how it happens in the real world. "hard times" create "weak men", just like in the case of hitler and many others. these same "hard times" are represented as crises or some sort of catastrophe and its been well documented that during these periods we see the worst in humanity and hitler is, quite frankly, one of the worst human beings to ever exist.

I got to stick up for Full Spectrum Warrior here. Got it from a friend who HATED it and said I could keep it after I beat it. It feels clunky and stupid at first until you get the concept. I ended up beating the crap out of it about a dozen times.
I joined the Army in 2010 and found myself as a team and later section leader controlling multiple teams- the same way that game is set up. I have to say- its fairly realistic. You have your guys shoot at a general target and try to stop them from burning ammo to do it. You typically outnumber your enemy but you move in a cumbersome and logical way. A single casualty will make you less combat effective. You can't spam grenades or call artillery 99% of the time. Its down to your choices and your movement. After a fight you need to basically count up the total percentage of ammo and water remaining in your squad, team or section and figure out what you can do with it- just like FSW. Man, that game. I gotta play that again.
You sold me on this game. Looks solid and flew under my radar. As a former Screaming Eagle you had me at Old Abe.

Its funny that you mentioned Terrorist Takedown series from CI Games :DI'm polish so I remember this series pretty well. My first ever game, that I bought instead of pirating it was Terrorist Takedown: Konflikt w Mogadiszu, outside Poland it was Army Ranger: Mogadishu :D Back in 2005, soon after I watched Black Hawk Down in TV when I was about 12 yo I saw that game in store in my home village and its cover art was shouting at me: "I am game based on that awesome movie, play me!" :D This game was pretty cheap, 20 zlotych (about 5$) and frankly, it was a crap. But I loved it. I was so hyped for BHW setting, that I finished that game couple of times. In 2007 my mother and grandfather bought me Delta Force: Black Hawk Down when I was in hospital. This game was a blast. It wasn't dumb "one man army" game. Maybe player coudn't make orders to teammates, but it didn't have autoregenarted health. You had to think, how to move, take cover, lean off the cover because you could die very quickly, especially when your hp was low. Great game, great times...
    Best Regards from Poland :]

2004's Full Spectrum Warrior based on the Iraq/Afgan war was also squad based but you didn't get to personally shoot in first person, which was kind of solo heroics/FPS action in Brother in Arms, instead it was third person so it was incredibly important to setup your squads to get into cover, provide covering fire and flank with another squad to take out the enemy. It was more like a puzzle game than an action game. It was also very punishing like real life, if your squad ran out of cover without the enemy pinned they would get shot and killed immediately. If you took too long your guys ran out of ammo and squad members could start getting hit behind cover. They really don't make games like this anymore.

My granddad was with the 764th Field Artillery as they beat Shitler's hun horde out of France and through Belgium. He told me stories before he passed, of good men who lived and died in combat. As a young man I never seemed to have the words to express the depth of gratitude I felt towards the men who we left buried over there, but I always thought I could do right by them if I were to study the actions that claimed their lives, and playing videogames like the old Call of Duty games helped me piece the war together. Carentan, Kasserine, Arnhem, and the Falaise Pocket are battles I've since studied as a historical scholar, but that fire was first lit by the characters Private Huxley and Corporal Dixon in Call of Duty 3. Those early developers honored the memory of our war dead, I think.
These modern studios, whether from DEI hires or other sources, have broken faith from that course and seem to take every opportunity to wipe their ass with the flags of our fathers. I'll never buy another EA title so long as I live, as a protest to honor the memory of my late grandfather and his friends.
    Thank you for this video.
