As charming as it is cool, this 22,082-mile Lincoln wraps a 5.0L V8 with 4-speed automatic drivetrain in traditional American luxury that’s simply unmatched in scale and grandeur! Early ‘80s metal features some of the most ornate styling from the Malaise Era. And this coupe’s classy black-on-grey color combination is the perfect canvas for far-flung detail. In fact, the car’s luxurious yet traditional pigment is decidedly stately, proving once again that good taste never goes out of style. Under that deep black and smooth grey color, vast sheetmetal appears as straight, clean and crisp as the day Motor City stamped it. That solid fuselage is well aligned, featuring wide doors that open and close with ease. Spears of garnet and gold outlining stripes stretch 18 feet down the sides of one of the longest profiles ever built. And overall, this Lincoln’s looks defy the decades its VIN suggests. Motivation for this 4,219-pound luxury cruiser is provided by a proven Ford 5.0L V8. Behind that mill, Ford’s reliable and sturdy 4-speed automatic transmission drives a 9-inch axle and highway-friendly. That powertrain rides a heavy duty suspension, which consists of new Shocks and Rear Airbags and slows with ease thanks to new brake calipers and resurfaced rotors. Everything rolls on gorgeous wheels, which spin 205/75R15 Hankook Optimo whitewalls. And, naturally, the plush creme interior is just as cool as the rest of the car, wrapping minimal wear in exquisite ‘80s luxury. There simply can’t be many Malaise Era cruisers that are nicer than this, and a classically themed Lincoln is most definitely the one to own. If you’re looking for a spectacular classic that also happens to be largely original, this opulent coupe will not disappoint!

This car looks phenomenal, shiny as glass. Thanks for sharing your video. I’m also a Mark VI owner and a huge Lincoln fan. Today people are finally acknowledging the vast amount of engineering marvels achieved by the Mark VI. Many have even stated the ride quality is better, has sharper turning radius, and a quieter more roomy interior + larger trunk space than its predecessors. Those enhancements are just scratching the surface. As a bonus the Mark VI graced the original panther platform loved by body on frame enthusiasts. It is quite possible that the last traditional luxury coupé is truly the 1980 -1983 Mark VI.

This was my first Lincoln, purchased in 1994 with 128K miles, a re-done paint job in the correct colors with the Givenchy striping (its seller was the owner of a body shop) and a broken front passenger coil spring. With new springs/shocks and Dunlop elite tires, I was immediately taken with the smooth silence of operation and improved handling over my 2 '77 Cadillac DeVilles. Also had to repair a leaking rear main seal. Unfortunately, I banged it up somewhat due to a mishap on a wet Pennsylvania blacktop, but that didn't stop me from driving it until it jumped timing @248K. Mine also had the factory 8-track (operational) but no CB radio and seat bottoms upholstered in a wide-wale corduroy cloth. The only rust was along the passenger side roof drip rails. Also, being a 2-door on the Panther chassis, it weighed a bit less that the 4-doors, but no way was it 4800 pounds! The TBI 302 engine that year (rated @ 129BHP) got great gas mileage but was a real dog up hills. Oh, and my power antenna always went down fully!

PURE CLASS! from a period when people knew how to engineer, be creative, inventive, innovative, and care about more than their isolated, self absorbed, complaining existence. Much more than the copy cat junk currently on the road. The best of the best with amazing engineering. Could never be replicated today.

My father had an 83 all black with red pin stripes and red cloth interior this to fade was the most comfortable riding car I ever rode in. He bought it new. I recall some of the kids thought we were rich😂 not hardly, it only looked expensive.

Beautiful! It is too bad that they don't make personal luxury cars any more, especially in 2 door. I love the electronic instrument panel, the auto-lamp, the exterior color is excellent. I guess that 8-tracts back then were still popular. Does anyone still use CB's any more?
