Ahhhh! You’re right! For some reason I interpreted this dot next to 90 as dot over 90. Thanks for setting me straight! This one is higher than the modern dot next to 90, but not over the zero enough to be DON. Sort of splits the difference.
I have a Speedmaster and at a glance this is shockingly similar. They did very well, especially for the price. It blows the Moonswatch out of the water
I’m sure you’d be able to pick apart the PG if you had it in hand next to your Speedmaster. But, yeah, they certainly achieved the goal of a clean, low budget homage. And you can just about buy three of these for the price of one MoonSwatch!
I have a real Omega Speedmaster Professional and I had considered the MoonSwatch for those times when I would be doing an activity that might risk damage to the Speedmaster. Then I read many complaints about the plastic pieces breaking off or the color dying your skin or the velcro strap being uncomfortable. Then I saw the PD1701. I bought it and I've had it for three weeks. I never told the wife and after three weeks she hasn't even noticed I'm not wearing my real Speedmaster. In fact, nobody I know has noticed the difference and they all know how much I wanted and how happy I was when I bought the real Speedmaster; a dream of mine. It is surprising close, so close, an untrained eye would never notice the difference. Plus the durability of the stainless steel over "bio ceramic" (aka plastic) can't be beat.....and it's less than half the cost of the MoonSwatch. Although my PD1701 did not come with the nylon strap option; which is okay for me, I prefer the stainless steel bracelet. And, mine came with the tool to remove and reset the pins in the links; quite helpful.
That’s awesome! My intention of this video was to shed light on a Swatch alternative, but your comments on this watch being a “beater backup” to the actual Speedmaster are cool! Others, who also own a Speedy, have left similar comments to yours. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I will never be able to justify the cost of a Speedy. But I do have the Bulova Lunar Pilot. And there are places I don't want that watch to go (Like the pool). So the PD1701 fits that bill nicely.
I think you just made the point that its not a homage at all. Its clomge, a copy. All they did to keep from being labeled a fake is put their own name on it. Sad. Why would you buy a speed master then wear a pagani? That's like buying an original Porsche speedster then buying a kit car speedster and only driving it. Sad sad sad. Your man card is revoked. SMH.
@@daleyfamily2179 Because in the very first sentence of my post I mentioned there are certain hobbies I have where I know from experience the watch will get damaged working in my shop. Why would I or anyone wear a $7,000 watch into an environment where I know up front it's going to receive damage (either minor or major)? That's why I was looking at a cheaper watch for those situations but with the look of Speedy (because I love the look). Outside of the hobbies, I wear the real Speedy. I did the wear test in normal daily wear on the Pagani just as a curiosity to see if anyone noticed.
Definitely better than a Moonswatch! I actually got one, didn't like, sold it to my best bud for the retail price I paid. I told him it was basically trash but he wanted it. The strap got frayed in a couple of days and then the top pusher fell off after a week and it's gone, on the street somewhere. I gave him the warranty and sales receipt so hopefully he can get it fixed. This Pagani is good value for the price. The Seiko movement is a good one that is in more expensive microbrands. I'd probably swap the bracelet for that black and grey NATO, would definitely look good on that. Excellent review!
Yeah, I wanted a MoonSwatch, but after A) not being able to buy one online and B) hearing stories like yours, the urge to own quickly died. I like this bracelet, but as soon as I popped the black Tropic-style FKM strap on it, I was sold! All and all the watch seems to be great value at under $90. Has the appearance of a more expensive piece. Brushing is a little rough, but not atrocious. I’ll have to do a full review down the road to see how this one holds up. It should get a lot of wear…perfect watch on work days for me. Not to dressy, not too casual, beater-priced in case it gets damaged.
Thanks for the video. I agree with your sentiments. I got interested in watches again when the moonswatch came out. I was disappointed by the total lack of availability and then, after watching some reviews, I was apalled to discover how cheaply they made the moonswatch. I purchased the PD1701 V3 during one of their many sales (about $70USD) and love it. I wish Pagani Design would leave off the words "Pagani Design" on the dial and just have their logo, as they have done on some other models. But no complaints for what I paid for it.
I’m with you on ditching the signature. I’ve also seen some of their other dials with just an applied logo and it looks nice. At the price you paid you can buy three of these and dinner out instead of one MoonSwatch!
I find the name "Pagani Design" funny. "Pagani" means "pagans" in Italian. The term "pagan" has meanings identical to those of "heathen", which has been used in ancient and medieval times pejoratively for someone who is polytheistic, savage and not cultured. The watches from "Pagani Design" are just that, an uncultivated design steal. Chinese manufacturers don't seem to take themselves too seriously.😄
Been my daily, I wear this more lately than my Swiss watch worth thousands. It’s the best made and best quality Pagani design that they have come out with
My first Pagani, so guess I picked a good one! Well, RUclips viewers actually gave me the idea, like I mentioned. I’m wearing this more than I thought I would…seems to fit well as my daily watch too.
Lower price and possibly better quality, or at least a more robust case! Thanks AJ…you never know what drives a video’s popularity! Glad enthusiasts are enjoying this one, though!
I got the Snoopy version (blue and white) and love it. FAR superior to the MoonSwatch, which unfortunately did not set a very high bar. Swatch would have done so much better if they had purchased these from Pagani and then just put their own name on it. As for the MoonSwatch, people were hoping for an Omega for the price of a Swatch, but ended up hoping for an Omega but getting a Swatch.
Haha! I’m laughing at your suggestion Swatch should have got PG to manufacture for them! Too funny! The blue and white looks cool…but I love the classic black.
Just pulled the trigger on this one! Eagerly waiting for it to come in the coming weeks! Initially thought of getting the Moonswatch but couldn't justify the price, so I went with this one instead.
Definitely a great alternative to the MoonSwatch! You'll notice how solid this watch feels when it arrives. Once you receive it, check out my "1 year later" review and see if you agree with my findings: ruclips.net/video/eoBNBSuC5os/видео.html
@WatchWitt welp, actually I went backwards lol. I watched that one first before I watched and commented on this one. That one year video made me pull the trigger!
@WatchWitt the watch arrived yesterday! Loving it so much that I'm already thinking of getting another one lol. Surprisingly good for the money, and I don't care whatever they say about this being a sad clone/copy.
@WatchWitt I saw it on your channel, that's why I decided to buy it. Usually I like black/gry, gold or, silver face watches, however I'm going to try the red model also. Thanks for your review. Great as always.👍
@@WatchWitt Well I've had it for a couple of months now, Didn't wanna come back immediately and be all "omg it's amazing, it's the best watch i've ever blah blah blah". In all honesty after the two months I can safely say it's amazing haha. Any issues I have with it would be purely nitpicks. I was absolutely not expecting the weight of it even though you said 150g, it's a solid piece. I'm absolutely buying one for my Father and it sure as hell won't be my last Pagani for myself.
I also got this because I couldn't get ahold of the Moonswatch, and probably never will since they announced it would NOT be sold online and I don't live near New York, the closest authorized store. Really happy with it since it looks so close to the actual Omega watch at a fraction of the cost.
Yeah, I’m not very close to a retail store either. If they had been readily available during launch I could have dropped in during my travels, but….well, you know the rest of the story! This homage is definitely a great buy…
I have a pagani design watch that at first glance you would think that it's a Rolex. A great watch and what a bargain. Love the look of this watch and am tempted to buy one.
I don’t really care if they do or don’t look like their originals, I just like if they look nice…and are a bargain! I think you probably mean the same thing…you’re just impressed that they look like their originals, right?! This is a great buy at under $90!
Pagani really impressed me. I have the Rolex Hulk homage. At the time when they weren't super famouse yet it only cost me $60. I've had it for 4 years now use it on a daily basis and I can tell you the thing is durable. For $60 you get a Saiko 4R35 movement, saphire cystal, and ceramic bezel. The band is pretty solid as well.
Thanks for the clear review of an affordable/quality homage. Many humans in the world cant afford the actual price for the actual piece. Its great pagani came out and allow the masses to enjoy the watch... I bought a few paganis too..
I have Pagani Daytona panda, i really dont care if its homage. For that price cant go wrong love the look, seiko mecha-quatz works greate Even if i would buy a real rolex or omega ill be scared to wear it every day, with this one i would not cry if i would broke it or loose it I bought one pagani and after that already was watching other models 😂
Its not a homage, its a clomage. Learn the definition of something before using the work. SMH. A watch whose design takes inspiration from an existing timepiece, with some visual similarities to pay homage to - often some of the most iconic watchs. This is the definition of homage. Make a fake is not a homage. LMAO.
@@WatchWitt could be coincidence. Probably is coincidence. But with the space motif on the caseback, I’m choosing to believe there’s a trek nerd somewhere at Pagani ;)
Again point made, they dont make homages, they make fakes of the original and skirt the law by slapping their name on it. You even state it, replicate.
@@daleyfamily2179 like so many other Chinese, Japanese, Swiss, British brands etc... All a copy of something before. I think you can find a datejust style from most manufacturers along with the obligatory diver. However, what PD did here is produce something so much better than the Swiss moonswatch, specs, value just blow the plastic watch out the universe. I say this PD shows up Swatch group badly for what they produced.
Thank you. I took delivery of mine today 4/5/2023. I ordered it on 4/3/23. I also went with the leather strap/white stitching...Great looking. This watch is is a keeper. I thought about the Swatch version. Im glad i didnt pull the trigger on that crap..
@@tmassey1465 No, is it your first Pagani Design?? It was for me. I haven’t bought another yet, but will definitely consider if I see another that I like! But I love that you have high end pieces and still enjoy budget watches too!
Awesome alternative to the MoonSwatch for sure. This PD is actually a very nice watch and tremendous value for money. Absolutely the way to go ... 🚀 Thank you for sharing Witt and have a wonderful weekend my friend 👍
Yeah, I was surprised. Guess I picked the right one for a first Pagani watch! I think I said half the price of MoonSwatch a couple times, but it’s more like a THIRD of the price!
I got one after hearing all the hype and I tried not like it, failed!! I really dig it with exception to the bracelet. I'm going to check out the Alpha model too. It's running an ST19 model.
The bracelet looks decent enough, but I haven’t tried it yet. I took it off immediately after this video and put it on the Tropic-style strap you see in the video. That won me over…decided to keep it instead of flipping it! I did find the spring bars to be super inferior. Would need to upgrade those if I even want to consider putting it back on the bracelet.
I have an Omega Speedmaster Pro but I wear a Corgeut hommage which is also a good copy. I was baffled by the rush for the moonswatch when other hommage watches were better value.
Great to hear this from your perspective. I’m curious if the homage is to protect/mimic your Omega, or it just happens to be another fun watch in your rotation???
@@WatchWitt I got it to mimic. I have a 1969 Omega and because in the UK there has been a big increase in watch theft I thought it would be safer to wear a hommage. Before that the Omega was my daily wearer for about 12 years.
Hadn't seen this model before. I have to say I do enjoy the look of it. I am also a huge fan of the Seiko Meca-Quartz movement. Might have to try this one out.
It’s a slam dunk! This was my first Pagani as well, and I’ve been happy with it. I bought for the video, with intention of selling it afterwards…but I kept it! Great upscale beater watch that fits perfectly with my work attire.
@@WatchWitt you've convinced me! My only experience with an Ali watch was with the Cadisen Royal Oak just over a year ago. Thing was huge and sharp. Actually thought it was a fairly good watch but just didn't fit well enough. Kind of scared me off Ali watches and not had one since. However you've sparked my interest I have to say.
That’s the thing…there’s really no returning them as it’s cost prohibitive. They do have a store on Amazon though. You’ll pay a little more, but could just be considered “insurance,” and it arrives much quicker.
OMG…the sky blue variant is absolutely stunning! Forget these green dials that are in fashion but are impossible to read except under ideal light conditions. I don’t understand why watch designers don’t choose baby blue more often. China prices for a Swiss design and a Japanese movement? This is the best of three worlds. Thumbs up!
Amazing review, I love it, I had the Daytona pagani and it was amazing, now I'm looking forward to get this one, I think it needs a different strap. PD hs many cool watches, but I go for San Martin for the fancy ones, you should check some of those, greetings from Colombia
I liked this bracelet, but took it off for an FKM tropic-style strap and REALLY liked the combo! If you’re not going to enjoy the bracelet anyway, you can find the watch sold on a different variety of straps. The nylon military style strap that was included with this one looks good too…I should have shown a shot!
I’m not in to replicas…wouldn’t buy one. So, I’d take this over a counterfeit any day! I like this watch vs my perception of what the Swatch is. But your comment makes me think you’re actually talking about an Omega knock off…not a MoonSwatch.
Awesome! The black FKM Tropic style strap is from Juelong on AliExpress. Here's a video I did on them, and a link to buy is in that video's description: ruclips.net/video/7YVt0e6dbq0/видео.html
Thanks! I hope to post an actual review soon. But these long form unboxing videos are probably more detailed. With the reviews you get what I like and don't like after spending time with the watch...
Lovely looking watch but I don't fully understand the thing for so called "homage" watches from Aliexpress. Am i missing something or are these just cheap affordable clones?
It's hard to explain. You see a watch with striking looks/design/build and a low price. It's obtainable. For many, it's as close as they'll ever get to owning the original. Like, if Honda made a version of a Porsche...you know it's not a Porsche, but it has the looks and feel of it. The engine is reliable and you can afford it! Win! Not the best analogy, but you get the idea.
I know, right? I will say the springbars are a weak point, though. I will definitely bring up in my future full review video. This are manufactured in Guanzhou, China.
I hear you. And I would agree with most products. The track record of “Made in China” translates to “cheap” for us. But there are plenty of watch manufacturers in China that are working to change that image. Many of the microbrands are produced there too. There will definitely be some QC issues here and there, but as a whole they are gaining respect from enthusiasts across the globe.
Everybody's got a mark up, some just more than others! And the less you spend, the more corners you will find cut. But, yes, this is a great watch for the money! Sometimes value is enough to propel the watch further in awareness/discovery/fandom. Thanks for the compliment!
The white handset and brighter markers are a definite improvement. Not sure if it’s the same bracelet. Brushing is rough, but otherwise seems ok. I like the clasp over other AliExpress budget watches. It’s almost a no date…because it’s hard to see! Ha! Actually, I mentioned in the video that I wished the numerals were brighter white, but I’ve since realized they’re a perfect match in intensity to the chapter ring. So, maybe it was intentional.
They’re awesome! Also on AliExpress. Very dense but pliable FKM rubber, and under $10! My review video is here, with links in description: ruclips.net/video/7YVt0e6dbq0/видео.html
Grab and go is nice with this one. VK63 is accurate. 100m of water resistance, but pushers are not screw down, so who knows. There’s always another watch getting in the way of the next PLANNED one!
I do not have a real Speedy yet but i do have a MoonSwatch and i picked Mission to Mercury color. Yes its a fragile and expensive plastic watch i ever purchased. I only wear it for weekend outing or stuff like that which not involving water and extreme activities (i've got my G-Shock's for that) Velcro strap for MoonSwatch its pretty comfortable with my 7 inch wrist if you switch the longer one and put it at 6 o'clock lug and shorter one at 12 o'clock lug. Enough of that, actually im looking for a daily beater besides my Casio Duro, its either this Pagani or WatchDives. Both also a good homage. Hopefully someday i could buy me a 3 grails which is Speedy, Aqua Terra & 007 Planet Ocean.
Great commentary on your MoonSwatch...thanks for sharing. I recently saw a review of the WatchDives version and it looks pretty good! I favor the ceramic bezel of the Pagani better, though. Either way, both seem to be great budget versions of a watch many of us can't obtain.......yet!
@@WatchWitt i just saw someone reviewing WatchDives Version 2 of Speedy homage, perfect for me and i think im gonna go for it eventhough its a bit expensive than Pagani but WatchDives offer the best specs, worth buying. And i also would get myself a Pagani as well because of date function on it.
I don't know which is funnier...the image of that little extension making it fit over a space suit, or the thought of a Pagani actually going into space! 😂
This is a mechaquartz, not a mechanical. The mechanical module for the chronograph is powered by the same battery that runs the normal time keeping of the quartz oscillator. So, the more you use the chronograph, the quicker you'll deplete the battery.
90 GBP versus 300 GBP for the tacky plastic Swatch. No contest. It just goes to show how little Omega think of people who can't / won't buy the Speedy because of its ridiculous over pricing. Great review. Thank you.
Glad you like it! This was the unboxing...check my thoughts on the watch after owning for a year...full review: ruclips.net/video/eoBNBSuC5os/видео.html
I actually bought a Pagani Design that is a rolex alternative from a youtuber for just $50 but it's $150 on the website but it's extremely good quality. Now I'm waiting for them to come out with more Richard Mill styles
I'm not positive, but the earlier versions had them and then they mysteriously disappeared. Speculation is that they were just too close of a design element to the original watch's dial.
I have this in white dial and deep blue bezel and chronos. It also has a blue nylon strap. My fave is the PD-1685 nylon strap and tht Omega wave pattern dial. OMG The strap is elegant easy to use but somewhat cheap. Thing a better quality strap with the flip over clasp will cost you 3/4 the price of the watch
I’ve been known to pair a strap with a watch that costs WAY less than the bracelet! But I’ve also put a $3 strap on a nearly $2k piece! Hey, whatever looks good.
It's basically an AM/PM indicator, since it's slaved to the main dial. You could also use it as a compass. Personally, it would appeal to me more if it were adjustable, to track a second time zone.
I definitely recommend V3 or higher. If you like white dials, check out the V4 meteorite style dial. There’s a white version, but it has hues of gray in it too…not bright white. ruclips.net/video/TdCCR0N2Sv0/видео.html
Well, depends on your definition of "real." Yes, I tested it in my diamond selector tool and it registers as sapphire. But it IS synthetic sapphire, if that matters to you.
That’s kinda the pocket is sat in for me. Polished enough to be a little dressy, but downplayed enough to be casual…especially on the FKM strap I put it on. So there’s that and the beater factor; cheap enough to not worry too much if it gets damaged.
Yes, mainly all in the dials and handset, plus v4 has no date. Case and movement is identical. I released a video on the V4 when the first two colors were announced. See that here: ruclips.net/video/TdCCR0N2Sv0/видео.html
Probably a silly question. Does anyone know how long these watches last? Thinking of this or a citizen Orca with a 5 Yr guarantee. Any advice in helping me decide would be much appreciated. Thanks
Others can chime in with actual longevity claims, but mine is holding out great after about 2 years now. These are built well and there's a Seiko movement inside. However, if you're debating between this and a Citizen Orca, I would take the Citizen in a heartbeat! You're obviously ignoring the price difference in your comparison. Really two different watches...go with the one that gives you the feels!
@carltongayle5461 Purely in reference to comparing these two watches: 1) More established heritage brand 2) more originality 3) better anti-magnetic and shock resistance 4) better water resistance 5) longer battery life (Eco-Drive DOES need a battery swap, but YEARS later) so need to enter caseback reduced. But like I said, these are two completely different watches......so it's not really a "fair" comparison.
You can’t buy them online…only in a Swatch boutique. At the time of this video there was also a requirement to associate your ID with the purchase, to keep customer buying limits in check. Im not sure if they’re still doing that.
I haven’t heard what the latest limits are, but I think you’re correct. Who knows…Swatch says they’re working feverishly behind the scenes to increase production to meet demand.
@@WatchWitt Looking at this brand's website having never heard of them before, my guess is that they are a knock off factory that came up with their own brand to go legit? I have seen videos where some Rolex and Omega also presumably knock offs are virtually indistinguishable from the original.
@@Laguna2013 I’ve never held an actual Omega Moonwatch, but I can tell you the Pagani Design version is far from identical! Obviously the mecaquartz movement is a huge difference too. But some viewers have claimed to own both and love the Pagani for what it is.
Not necessarily. There are SO many PD retailers/distributors, and pretty much all of them make themselves appear to be the factory. Some enthusiasts even think that this brand, among others, is a ghost brand...that several factories produce watches under that name. It's hard to tell, really. But that's why I prefer shopping for them on Amazon. At least there is a deal of buyer protection.
@@WatchWitt their logic was they weren't aiming to sell a bunch right away to make a ton of money. Lol. Whatever. All it did is enable the dirty flippers sell them on the gray market.
Mine comes Friday. Might get a few more at that $$ I think these will soon be untouchable. The swatch version was a …..JOKE!! Over $200 for a fisher price McDonald’s toy watch. Should’ve come with a supersized coffee shake. No I didn’t purchase one. Great vid, thank you for sharing.
If you're talking about getting a few, might want to try some of the other colors or variants. I've got a video on the meteorite style dials, and this video of the PD-1779 which is basically the same watch, but a bit of a skeleton dial: ruclips.net/video/L-GE5W66SFQ/видео.html
Now that I’ve seen it up close in this stellar unbox I may just have to get one and add it to my pagani collection, haha, for what you pay you do always get a good watch from pagani, nice look at this one Witt thanks
How many do you have now? They just sent me a note that there’s a new V4 now. It’s a meteorite looking dial, one in gray and one in light blue. They both have black handsets (and maybe indices?) to contrast the light colored dials. Subdials are still black. I like the clean factor of this one, though.
That’s not me…it’s a phishing scam. I’ve reported the fake account to RUclips. I will never ask anyone to contact me via those platforms. Sorry for the confusion. It’s a real problem on YT lately. I have ceased giveaways because of this issue.
Almost a 1/3 of the price! The MoonSwatch is $267 if I remember correctly. And you end up with a watch that looks more like the original each is paying homage to.
Everywhere you see this watch, all versions, it's listed as 40mm...I don't understand why. I think that's the dial diameter, but we always measure the case! This is definitely 42mm.
Haha! Somebody added a comment and deleted it…wish they wouldn’t have. They said something to affect of “why does the rocket still have the boosters attached while in orbit? Makes no sense!” Haha I thought that was funny. Ooooh, I bet mesh would look good. I’m going to try………try to pry it off this Tropic style strap that looks so awesome on it!

Definitely kills the MoonSwatch. It appears Pagani outdid themselves here. Nice review Witt! Congrats on the popularity of the video. Well deserved.
I bought one. It gets a lot of wear with me. It's a handsome watch and I have no complaints.
I’m diggin’ it too!
Once you receive it, check out my "1 year later" review and see if you agree with my findings:

@WatchWitt welp, actually I went backwards lol. I watched that one first before I watched and commented on this one. That one year video made me pull the trigger!
Ahhh, ok cool!
@WatchWitt the watch arrived yesterday! Loving it so much that I'm already thinking of getting another one lol. Surprisingly good for the money, and I don't care whatever they say about this being a sad clone/copy.
Awesome! There are different colors and dials to choose from!
I just received mine last week.
It's beautiful. The quality is unbelievable for the price.
Definitely a great watch for the price! Check out my full review and see if you agree with my thoughts ruclips.net/video/eoBNBSuC5os/видео.html
@WatchWitt
I saw it on your channel, that's why I decided to buy it.
Usually I like black/gry, gold or, silver face watches, however I'm going to try the red model also.
Thanks for your review. Great as always.👍
Awesome, glad to hear! I've got a new Pagani model on the way, so be on the lookout!
Great review buddy, definitely a better option than a plastic Swatch watch that is very hard to buy 😁👍
And probably more true (though still FAR from the quality) to the original watch they’re each paying homage to!
Aufjeden Fall! 🙂
just bagged this for £53.79 on sale, your video (as well as the price) persuaded me haha.
Can't beat this watch at that price...you would have loved it at double that!
@@WatchWitt Just can't go wrong with it. Thanks for the video.
@Hugh-S Would love to hear your thoughts on it once you've worn it...see if they match up with mine. Enjoy!
Awesome! Yeah, it's an unbelievably solid homage. It shouldn't be that good for that price, right?! Glad you came back to share your thoughts...
Crazy prices, right?! Glad to hear it's doing well by you in the long run.
Thanks for the clear review of an affordable/quality homage. Many humans in the world cant afford the actual price for the actual piece. Its great pagani came out and allow the masses to enjoy the watch...
I bought a few paganis too..
Keeping the dream alive! Maybe one day we can slap down the cash for the original...!
I have Pagani Daytona panda, i really dont care if its homage.
For that price cant go wrong love the look, seiko mecha-quatz works greate
Even if i would buy a real rolex or omega ill be scared to wear it every day, with this one i would not cry if i would broke it or loose it
I bought one pagani and after that already was watching other models 😂
Well, you WOULD cry….but then you’d just buy another one!
Its not a homage, its a clomage. Learn the definition of something before using the work. SMH. A watch whose design takes inspiration from an existing timepiece, with some visual similarities to pay homage to - often some of the most iconic watchs. This is the definition of homage. Make a fake is not a homage. LMAO.
I love that they used 1701 in the model number - a subtle Star Trek reference
I wonder if it was intentional or accidental? The have other model numbers in the 1700’s…
@@WatchWitt could be coincidence. Probably is coincidence. But with the space motif on the caseback, I’m choosing to believe there’s a trek nerd somewhere at Pagani ;)
@@OldLineWatches Haha!
I might add too everything works perfectly, such as the crown adjustment ect. Finishing is nigh on perfect too!
As it should! I’ll throw in that I thought the finishing is pretty rough, but not out of wack for this price point.
I have this watch and its really good! People think its a $700- $800 watch!
Definitely looks more than the price paid!
My model also came with the tool to replace the pins and adjust the bracelet size. Very convenient, I’m happy
Yeah, they started including those. Nice touch...makes it easier if you don't already have a tool kit!
I have this and the Omega speedy pro and this watch is amazing for the price.
Wow, that’s a powerful endorsement!
PD did a fantastic job replicating rolex and omega. almost a 1:1 aside from slight changes and obviously different movements.
I think some of the magic comes from a decent crystal too. Great clarity for this price point, and wonderful distortions.
Seems like I'm not the only one that's snagging the PD-1701 as their first Pagani....great watch!
@@WatchWitt This is not my 1st watch. This is number 38. I also have in my collection Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Vacheron Constantin and others.
@@tmassey1465 No, is it your first Pagani Design?? It was for me. I haven’t bought another yet, but will definitely consider if I see another that I like! But I love that you have high end pieces and still enjoy budget watches too!

Oh, nice!
Pagani is a great watch. And I am so over the Swatch craze at this point. Great review my guy. Keep on.
I'm glad I read the comments of other watch channel videos! It was a great suggestion to pick up one of these! Thanks for the compliment.
@@WatchWitt You did great buddy 👏 👍
Awesome. Even though it was out of necessity, that’s cool to know that you have an homage that you can respect! Thanks for sharing!
WTF? Why own the original and then were a fake? SMH lol.
@@daleyfamily2179 It was my daily wearer for about 12 years. Now because of its value ( 1969 model) I only wear it on special occasions.
My first PD (V3) watch too. I like it!!
It looks the part, not the price!
Thumbs up!
Baby blue was surging during the “Tiffany Blue” but surprisingly has seemed to calm down. Not sure why…always a favorite of mine, too.
@@WatchWitt I’m waiting for Grand Seiko to a proper sky blue. That will be a stunning design, I’m sure.
Oh wait..they did…Ice Blue…mic drop!
Incredible dial, right?!
My Sky Blue is on the way 👍
Amazing review, I love it, I had the Daytona pagani and it was amazing, now I'm looking forward to get this one, I think it needs a different strap.
Great review! I'd like to know whats the bracelet width at the clasp? I wanna know if it's 18 or 20m.
Thanks! Yes it tapers to 18mm, as I mentioned at 3:45
what are your thoughts on this vs a super premium knock off?
I’m not in to replicas…wouldn’t buy one. So, I’d take this over a counterfeit any day! I like this watch vs my perception of what the Swatch is. But your comment makes me think you’re actually talking about an Omega knock off…not a MoonSwatch.
That is beautiful.
SOLD!
That price is unbelievable. 👍
It really is! This is a great budget watch...
Just added to my list.

Great video breakdown sir! Very informative.
Thanks! I hope to post an actual review soon. But these long form unboxing videos are probably more detailed. With the reviews you get what I like and don't like after spending time with the watch...
Definitely a better option than the Swatch Moon watch and a great price. I bought the black and panda dial.
Great watch for the money!
Win! Not the best analogy, but you get the idea.
can this be sized down to a 6.5 inch?
Yes. Plenty of links to take out.
Witt great review! The Pagani Design PD-1701 v3 is 10 times better than the MoonSwatch at less than half the price!
I haven't had a MoonSwatch in hand, but I'll bet that I prefer this Pagani. Regardless of comparison, I'm enjoying this watch!
The milled clasp is a nice surprise.
Where are these watches made?
I know, right? I will say the springbars are a weak point, though. I will definitely bring up in my future full review video. This are manufactured in Guanzhou, China.
@@WatchWitt I don't trust Chinese quality.
The V3 is perfection.
Well, I could argue that a little....but generally, yes I agree with you!
certainly a better choice than the cheap plastic swatch.
Definitely a great option! This case has a nice solid feel to it.
Love the watch just little rough on surface of brackets but over all great looking watch
I agree…finishing is a little rough, but not too distracting and acceptable at this price point.
I have a tag formula 1,this is so very good for the money ,sometimes you pay lot and I mean a lot more for the name.great channel.
Everybody's got a mark up, some just more than others! And the less you spend, the more corners you will find cut. But, yes, this is a great watch for the money! Sometimes value is enough to propel the watch further in awareness/discovery/fandom. Thanks for the compliment!
I had V1 it was OK the bracelet wasn't the best almost looks like they kept it in for V3 wish they'd used a no date option
Where did you buy that black rubber band? It looks great!!
They’re awesome! Also on AliExpress. Very dense but pliable FKM rubber, and under $10! My review video is here, with links in description: ruclips.net/video/7YVt0e6dbq0/видео.html
nice watch, what level of water resistance is it. Might be my next watch although currently was looking for a automatic in green or blue lol
Grab and go is nice with this one. VK63 is accurate. 100m of water resistance, but pushers are not screw down, so who knows. There’s always another watch getting in the way of the next PLANNED one!
@@WatchWitt A really poor quality watch! After one time swimming in a pool I had water inside of the watch and returned it to Amazon!
That’s a shame. I would have hoped at least 50m WR, but I was definitely skeptical without screw down pushers.
I do not have a real Speedy yet but i do have a MoonSwatch and i picked Mission to Mercury color. Yes its a fragile and expensive plastic watch i ever purchased. I only wear it for weekend outing or stuff like that which not involving water and extreme activities (i've got my G-Shock's for that)
Velcro strap for MoonSwatch its pretty comfortable with my 7 inch wrist if you switch the longer one and put it at 6 o'clock lug and shorter one at 12 o'clock lug.
The extension is for the space suit obviously! 😄
I don't know which is funnier...the image of that little extension making it fit over a space suit, or the thought of a Pagani actually going into space! 😂
Hi, I like your rubber strap at 9:37. Could you please let me know where did you buy this rubber strap? Thank You.
That strap is from Juelong, also on AliExpress. They’re about $10 and they’re fantastic!!
I have two PD’s and without doubt the 1701 is my favorite! My other PD is a 1662 GMT. Good, but not great…
Great to hear that the 1701 is a favorite!
How does using the chronograph deplete the battery !
Check out CIGA Designs RM looking watches...nice quality. I think the X and Z series...
Do you know why some have dots on each side of the 12 marker and some don’t?
I'm not positive, but the earlier versions had them and then they mysteriously disappeared. Speculation is that they were just too close of a design element to the original watch's dial.
can an unskilled user change the battery or do I need to take it into a shop?
I think most are capable of replacing the battery, depending on the watch. If you're at all uncomfortable or unsure, take it in.
Be good to have a link to Ali express somewhere. Great review and thank you
Thanks for the compliment! There’s an AliExpress link in the description section!
What is the use of a 24H sub dial?
It's basically an AM/PM indicator, since it's slaved to the main dial. You could also use it as a compass. Personally, it would appeal to me more if it were adjustable, to track a second time zone.
you sound very professional!!! done this before?
Thanks! I was in radio years ago, but this is my first at doing any sort of video presentations.
@@WatchWitt you defenately have a gift for it
Thanks for the kind words!
Nice I like the watch build quality
It would be hard to EXPECT this build quality at this price! I believe that's part of the charm.
nice i might look at the white dial version. good bang for buck indeed
I definitely recommend V3 or higher. If you like white dials, check out the V4 meteorite style dial. There’s a white version, but it has hues of gray in it too…not bright white. ruclips.net/video/TdCCR0N2Sv0/видео.html
But is it real sapphire glass? Did you measure that also?
Well, depends on your definition of "real." Yes, I tested it in my diamond selector tool and it registers as sapphire. But it IS synthetic sapphire, if that matters to you.
@@WatchWitt this is not a problem, it is cheap watch and synthetic sapphire is good enough for that. At least it will not scratch 💪
@ARVIthereyet V5 and higher has AR coating too.
great daily wear piece.
That’s kinda the pocket is sat in for me. Polished enough to be a little dressy, but downplayed enough to be casual…especially on the FKM strap I put it on. So there’s that and the beater factor; cheap enough to not worry too much if it gets damaged.
A nice and charming piece the casing is pretty
Yes, they did a nicer job with this than the price would lead you to believe!
Why not put it on the timegrapher?
Haha! What will it do?
I just bought the same model, thanks to you, haha. Another watch to add to my already too many watches collection. Help!!!
As Jody says, there’s always room for Just One More Watch! Can never have too many stylish beaters!
Does it have the same dimensions as the moonwatch?
Pretty close. This one is a little thicker and a little heavier. Other measurements are nearly identical.
@@WatchWitt cool. Thanks a lot mate.
can you tell me ic theres a diference between the v3 and the v4
@@WatchWitt thanks. Do you mind if I ask why you would go for the orca.
@@WatchWitt thanks, appreciate your comments. Will go for the orca
I feel like your original question should have been, "Which one do I buy FIRST?!" 😂
what does 'conditional availability' of moonswatch mean please?
You can’t buy them online…only in a Swatch boutique. At the time of this video there was also a requirement to associate your ID with the purchase, to keep customer buying limits in check. Im not sure if they’re still doing that.
@@WatchWitt 1 per customer per store per day right? When do you think these will be on the shelf as many as you want?
I bought this, ostensibly, from Pagani Design but my payment is shown to have gone to One More Watches. Have I been had?
Not necessarily. There are SO many PD retailers/distributors, and pretty much all of them make themselves appear to be the factory. Some enthusiasts even think that this brand, among others, is a ghost brand...that several factories produce watches under that name. It's hard to tell, really. But that's why I prefer shopping for them on Amazon. At least there is a deal of buyer protection.
@@WatchWitt Well, I live in hope. 😐
@@jimcondon762 Haha!
Is it to thick because it looks super thick
It's 14.5mm, which is fairly thick, but not extreme. In the same realm as a dive watch, but I think this one conceals nicely.
Great looking watch!
Well, that credit goes to the original designer, but yes…this is a beaut for the price!
are those male end links?
Female...immediate droop!
Yeah, I think it's a bit shitty that Swatch won't sell the MoonSwatch online. I'm not within 500 miles of a Swatch store.
That really became a deal breaker for most enthusiasts. That’s definitely where some of the animosity came in to play as well.
@@WatchWitt their logic was they weren't aiming to sell a bunch right away to make a ton of money. Lol. Whatever. All it did is enable the dirty flippers sell them on the gray market.

Thank you, what did I win and what info do you need.
What do you mean “telegram you”?
That’s not me…it’s a phishing scam. I’ve reported the fake account to RUclips. I will never ask anyone to contact me via those platforms. Sorry for the confusion. It’s a real problem on YT lately. I have ceased giveaways because of this issue.
@@WatchWitt ok, thanks for letting me know. The constant use of the word TELEGRAM didn’t make any sense.
I bought the Pagani Design PD-1701... and its better than the over priced plastic MoonSwatch 😆
A few tweaks here and there and it would be almost perfect....but the price would go up! I like it just how it is!
Half the price?
Almost a 1/3 of the price! The MoonSwatch is $267 if I remember correctly. And you end up with a watch that looks more like the original each is paying homage to.
I wait for an automatic version before buying this watch ...Nice review though
I wonder if anyone will ever do it? Being a mechanical lover myself, I have to say this mechaquartz is pretty cool!
I truly do not understand why PD neither on his website is declaring 42mm, but 40mm. very confusing
Everywhere you see this watch, all versions, it's listed as 40mm...I don't understand why. I think that's the dial diameter, but we always measure the case! This is definitely 42mm.
I'm guessing the extension on the bracelet is to go over an astronaut's space suit.
That’s what I was thinking too, but seems unexpected for a budget homage to go to that distance!
Tnx getting it
Enjoy!
So much better than my Omega Swatch😢. Pagani feels like a real watch while Omega Swatch comes across like a toy…
I think that's why so many suggested to get the PD...the stainless steel case is just a more solid option.
If you look at the rocket ship upside down it has a smiley face. Great watch though put mine on a mesh bracelet, looks smart.
@@WatchWitt I think a small child helped with the designer’s homework 😂. I think it’s a bit of fun though and this watch is a strap monster 👍
I’ll definitely throw some more straps on for shooting the full review, but I can’t shake this Tropic style for now! But, yes…clearly has the ability to move through some straps!
Pagani Design just may be the first watch to go to the moon.
I don't quite follow...?
