I love this story! I never would have had any doubt a Blue Dragon would be betraying me as a player and I assume the Deva was supposed to be the party's ally against the treasonous dragon but I love how this turned out with the Dragon and Deva bonding over kicking the wizards ass. Yeah DM definitely took it way too easy on Wizard but if he'd had to make a new campagin 3 times that month already I get why he let this slide.
And the idea of a Blue Dragon and Deva both having an "Ahh, he's not so bad after all" moment and becoming friends is hilarious...
I'm not a terribly reckless player but while playing my snarky alchemist I accepted a 1 on 1 challenge from a young black dragon after I had enough of him mocking and sneering at the party. He breathed acid on me but my bombs did enough damage to make him retreat. From then on I referred to him as Yellowscale whenever we ran into him again

Yeah if I had to rewrite and re make 3 campaigns in a month I would honestly just railroad a little to make sure the party doesn't die immediately.
And challenging a black dragon is pretty risky in my opinion. But hey it turned out well and you beat a dragon.
Sorry for the late response I was kind of busy.

The most reckless thing me and another player did is walk right up into a pirate camp…where the pirates obviously all had fiend contracts. Just me and the monk walked straight into the camp like we owned the place. But it was a calculated risk.
See, the party had split up, but we were both going to the same location. Just that monk and I can’t stealth well so we opted to be team “make some noise” and be the distraction so the other four could safely sneak in. Monk has a reputation though. He is on a redemption arc but he used to be an infamous mercenary with a bloodthirsty reputation and who would do just about anything for coin. So when we entered the camp, we noticed some of the pirates seems to not only recognize him, but we’re starstruck and idolizing him. Wordlessly monk and I decided to lean into this. I pretended to be his hired stoic and very professionally disdainful bodyguard and he leaned into his own reputation. We end up gather all the minions into the barracks so monk can share his “glory” stories of his past while I guard the door. This allows the rest of the party to freely get at what we were there for, our druid friend (npc) who had been caught and was imprisoned. The catch is, it was locked. Around this time one of the minions leads the monk over to their leader, a full fiend. Our best option we realize is….for him to seduce her. He does so and the artificer’s pet pseudodragon sneaks in during this and manages to steal the key to the cage successfully. Nearly home free. I won’t bore you too much with the details but I will say that we succeeded though the sneaky team got noticed at the last second and had to make a run for it. To cover for them we, monk and I broke our own cover and started attacking the pirates. We all managed to escape though so mission success!

Oh my gods that sounds like such a fun session I am absolutely in live with all of that hijinks! And to be fair is their anything better than a well pulled of sneeky mission?
I absolutely love hearing the story! And I am so sorry for the late response

@@pandachantheking no worries! And yes it was, very fun and the first one I did with this party. I point to this mission as the one that started the friendship between my character and the monk character and it’s been really sweet between the two as they watch each other’s backs and share some really dangerous secrets from their backstories. It’s been a fun campaign so far. We even fought a dragon, stopped an evil fey queen deity from being released, brought a friend back to life, and right now? Tackling a martial law lockdown of an elven city by a corrupt guy in charge, trying to help the people sneak out and evade the mercenaries he hired and his seer too. The same seer who has said a prophecy that pins us as the possible fall of the Empire. Lol yeah so very fun! Oh! And we befriended a dragon who has disguised himself as an elven man. I can’t confirm yet but he is either an ancient dragon or older.
