It hurts my heart to see you crying. I was disappointed for you , knowing how frustrated you must have been with Sundays meet. But gosh Chellsie, you have moved mountains in such a short time. You have made such a difference in the sport, this has meant so much to all retired gymnasts, moms and just women over age 32! Please dont be sad! We love you and I cant wait to see what else you do.

@@karyon1007 not even Simone returned to elite this fast!! I mean Chellsie hadn't done a DTY (that wasn't a soft landing mat in the foam pit) since 2006 I think was what she said... I was shocked that she added bars so quickly!!! I swear if she had just another month... Vault, bars & beam would be rock SOLID and I think she probably could do floor... I saw a video of her dance thru on podium and I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want/NEED to see it full out because it looks BADASS!!! I'm hoping that she goes to worlds and kicks ass & wins some medals.. it may show other gymnasts that age is a number & shouldn't be an expiration date on their career! It's true of anything really... I hope she continues because she's only going to get even better 💜🙌🙌

I cannot fathom the courage required for you to do this so publicly. To push yourself this hard, to step in front of all the cameras and then do what no one - NO ONE - has done before...is unbelievable. To subject yourself to people's judgment of your performance, when none of them can know or understand what all of this might mean to you...is so brave. SE Wisco continues to cheer you on simply for doing what you love to do, and letting the world watch you love it.

Be gentle on yourself. You've been doing bars for LESS THAN A YEAR. When you talked the night before the meet, it was obvious nerves were threatening to overtake you. If you're going to keep going, I suggest lining up a sports psychologist to get a few tools to pull out when you need to push the nerves out of your way. Because the skills are THERE. We've all watched you - we've all seen them. You've felt them. Andy doesn't just toss out "there you go!" every single time, you know. Your body can do this. Your head just needs to get out of your body's way.

Being able to be there to watch you in person was absolutely amazing! Literally the only athlete who got louder cheers than you in the entire meet was Simone. It was so awesome seeing how much love and support you had in that stadium. Everyone was in your corner! My 7 yr old and I were sitting right above the vault landing and were cheering for you during warmups! I can’t wait to continue to watch your journey! Because of you I have started training again. I quit after level 9 in 2004. I’m 33 now. I’ve found that the biggest challenge is getting the endurance back! I’m also being very cautious on floor and vault because I’m worried my joints won’t be able to take the impact! But you’ve pushed me to get back to my first love, and I’m forever grateful for you!!! Way to go!

I live in Texas and I'm disabled and I love gymnastics I watched Chelsea compete in the Olympics with Shawn Johnson and nastia that was the year I fell in love with gymnastics I'm 36 I play piano and have been teaching myself for 2 years I played my first classical piece a few weeks ago it's an amazing feeling I've always dreamed of playing piano chellsie is the woman I'd love to be friends with she's really down to earth which is why Im a huge fan I'm so happy your doing gymnastics again ! I think that gymnastics should have two age brackets for the younger girls so older elite athletes have a chance to go to the Olympics and do meets for women in their30s and 40s because most gymnasts retire after college is over because their is nothing in place for none of these women to continue doing what you love to do! I love watching people do things I never could do. You should document your gymnastic journey as well!❤

Chellsie, you weren't expecting to win Nationals when you started working again. You were clearly doing it because you loved doing gymnastics. Everytime you get up in front of judges you're bound to be nervous - and you didn't have the year of practice in front of audiences and build up to your first competition on the national stage. I'm guessing it will go better next time. Even if you never win a competition again, keep doing what you love. You inspire us all.

It was the nerves that got to you and that is of course only natural after 9 years of not competing. Other younger athletes who have been training all along also had some falls and errors. But you started the bars from nothing and put together a routine in such short notice - and you were amazing. The vaults were awesome and the beam was great too. You have stuck that arabian in all your practises so it was obviously only the nerves and probably the impact from all the training and hard landings. But others fell too. I'm so glad to hear that you will not stop because so many of us have been glued to your videos and inspired to tears following your journey. There more great things ahead for you and the hardest part has passed and that was the first competitions - it can only get better from here on in. Good luck - you are a fantastic role model for your kids. Always follow your dreams and don't be afraid to fail or fall because that it was makes us better and stronger. Looking forward to following more of your videos.

Changing the narrative and attitude of a sport is SO much bigger than making a team or winning a medal, and that’s exactly what you are doing. After years of questioning the extreme coaching and selection tactics of the sport, you proved that there is another way, where the athlete has autonomy over their own journey. You have inspired so many people of all backgrounds and ages that we too pursue our passions regardless of norms and traditions. THANK YOU! We are all behind you and cheering for you, wherever this journey takes you. Keep your head up, the victory is in the journey itself! ❤️👑

But chell is strong and a fighter she proved it in 2008 after her anckle injury. Iam so proud of her and she stay my favorite gymnast and my first hero ❤️

I have followed your journey from the VERY beginning of your comeback - woke up at the crack of dawn in my country to watch you live at all the competitions. You are wonderful. You are an inspiration. You are strong. You are breaking barriers EVERYWHERE. I cannot wait to see you in your next competition or exhibition or whatever. You are incredible and we are so grateful for courageous women like you who dare to try and do something different, who go out into the world and say let’s see where things go, and who also pick themselves up after a bad day and keep going. We love you, Chellsie!

I was just laid off with a bunch of people from my job, and it's hard seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Seeing you pick yourself up, and keep going after hard times, gives me hope.

You’ve only been doing gymnastics again for a year, and you just competed at nationals! That in and of itself is crazy, and the fact that you had the ankle setback too. You can do so much more. You know that, and that’s why not being able to show it is frustrating. But you’re only 32! If gymnastics is still fun, keep doing it :)

Truly you are absolute magic and your family is a joy to watch. We all love you!

The end may not have gone how you wanted but don’t forget all the good things that you managed to accomplish. It was huge!!! Your gymnastics looked great and you put a good bit of difficulty in there with good form. Keep having fun with it and challenging yourself! You have inspired a bunch of adults who were sad to lose gymnastics that they could go back and do it again, don’t forget to just take the pressure off and do this for yourself. You should be proud of how far you have come, even with a bummer injury thrown at u!

I know you’re disappointed in the outcome of this last weekend, but please know that none of us are disappointed in you-we’re all too busy loving you for what you did and looking forward to what comes next, regardless of if that involves gymnastics or not.

I never sign in to comment but seeing you cry broke my heart. There’s tons of comments talking you up but I just wanted to add to the pile.
Chellsie, I hope you have at least a small understanding of how inspirational you are. I won’t try to say you shouldn’t cry because we are more than allowed to cry when we are upset. But I hope you can get back to the gym feeling good about where you are and your place in this sport.
You’re normalizing continuing to participate in sport as an adult. And this is life changing for so many people who’ve found your videos. Especially with women, we tend to stop after high school or college. And seeing you out there? I’m sure most of us will never participate in our sports at the level you are participating in yours, but you’ve given this movement of lifelong participation a huge push. Watching you over the past little while has motivated so many people to get back into their sport (or to find their sport!). I’ve seen so many people say that, whether it’s in your comments, in Facebook groups, etc. Personally, despite participating in a completely different sport, your videos have been so insanely motivating and have picked me up numerous times when I’ve been down. I just wanted to comment to sort of pay that forward.
This is such a special thing. You got this!

Chellsie, I watched you compete when you were younger, but watching you compete now, with kids, and seeing what you've accomplished and how you've pushed the sport forward just by competing with those girls at that level... you've pushed the sport so far and are an inspiration to everyone to never, ever give up and always do what you love. You can tell, you have the biggest heart and the most love for this sport. I am a 36 year old man who follows women's gymnastics pretty closely ever since I was a kid, and just watching you compete and train all I could think was, "This is incredible! Look at her rocking it and competing these hard ass skills at this age!" I was just BLOWN. AWAY. You've proven that age is just a number and you've inspired so many young girls and athletes in general to just keep reaching for greatness. You have nothing to have regrets, or sadness, or anything over. You've raised the bar in the sport and been like, No, I'm not done at 18-20. I'm not done." It has been my honor to watch your journey and I can't wait to see what you do next.
