Hi nice mod, but always check the mesh and alignment between the pinion gear and the spur gear when installing the new motor! It seems that you did not do it and installed it blindly. I like the way that you operate the throttle when driving the truck. You manage it nicely, and not like most of the videos I watch, many people don't have an idea how to manage the throttle correctly. They just pull the trigger full on and blip it on and off, like it's either full or zero throttle. That is very hard on the gears, driveshafts, etc. Then they complain about broken parts Lol

Best video yet on this RC. Just bought the a959b and a969 and put all the metal upgrades on them and love them both. Van't go wrong with the price IMO and with the upgrades they are nearly impossible to break. Would you recommend this RC?
You can get the virhuck (fy03 clone) for only $40, now. It has metal body panels. I have 4 of these things, now. Paint them different colors and try different hope ups on them..The diff is all metal gears. It only has a 390 motor...which makes it lighter than the WLTOY. I was thinking of just installing a 60A brushed esc so I can run 3s lipo in them..the motor can handle it. I have brushless 2850 in 3650 can size 3900kV..it's still going to be more powerful than a 2838 or 2845. Or you can get brushless 2845 3000kv for only $12. It's not a big deal. Im just afraid it'll tear up all the gears or drive train.lol You can get a HSP/redcat volcano exp...PRO brushless version 1/10 for only $110 under Beseltek brand..It'll pop wheelies out of the box in 3500 mah 2s lipo...stock batteries it's do 30 mph....I installed a cheap $15 brushless 60A esc...run it on 3s....it'll pop wheelies on command..even on pavement. over 40 MPH..easy. It stupid fast for an R/C monster truck... The faster you go....the faster you crash. the faster it breaks.lmao I have just as much fun on the 979A The 1/12 size just needs to do around 30 mhp ish....for it's size. It's still plenty fun to drive around stock
You just plug that new motor straight into the stock esc? If so pretty sure the stock ESC isn’t meant for 3s I believe. Ran mine on 3s for a little and esc or motor started smoking not sure which but pretty sure it was the esc. In the process of going brushless, just waiting on the servo to get in but my new brushless motor and ESC is made to handle 3s so cant wait to see the speed boost.
The stock motor can smokeout some of them can not handle 3s because they have a black diode that can not handle extra voltage but the ESC seems to be fine on 3s. your new Setup sounds cool :) and prob is the best way to go.

Still faster with the new 17 turn motor on the stock 2 cell lithium ion? Kid might be a little young to trust with LiPo batteries.
This is a great video, thanks for sharing! I'd like to ask. I plan to replace my motor as well to a GoolRC 540 80T Brushed Motor for crawling. Would I need to buy an Engine Mount and extra pinion gear to complete the upgrade? Or would stock engine mount and pinion gear do the job?
I see, thanks! How was your experience in removing the pinion gear from the motor? Did it give you a hard time? Some people said it was stuck hard that they resorted to heating the pinion gear to get it to dislodge.
It's a good idea to heat it up first to melt the thread lock used from the factory. It'll save you a lot of headache with the head of the locking screw stripping.

I just bought one of these and am happy with it. But, the question is. Is it better at low speed climbing rocks and dirt? I got this for dirt, how does this help when the going gets slow?

It does seem to yes, but there is still a risk of damaging it. Also some of the stock motors have somthing on the back of them looks like a capacitor that can smoke out on 3s if it does u can just cut that off..
I woundnt chance it I have one and it is enough on 2s and even it the esc could handle it the gears would be dust that is what happened to me but mine is all metal 3s 3600kv @39,960rpm

Nice setup 👍 I put a 3s brushless setup with all metal gears, a 25g servo and upgraded the suspension. Goes about 50 now and I love it

Very great upgrade indeed, it would be better if it were brushless instead of brushed. But I can't complain, it is 10$ very good deal right there.

@Ezra Redgwell You're wrong man. 13T is faster than 17T. The lower the 'T' number, the faster (and less torque) the motor will be.

Thanks, I was able to use the stock Engine mount and pinion gear with this motor.. So id say you will be fine to reuse these parts.

Luckily mine came off fairly easily.
The pinion on mine was stuck fast to the OE motor and not transferable to the new motor.

So everything is stock except Only the motor you upgraded right? How about the esc and batt did they match with the voltage?
Stock esc seems to handle the extra voltage but if you do use 3cell need to be aware it could fry the esc or you may get away with it like me :)
So how long did you have this setup? Did it burn your esc?
About 2 years still going good, just had to replace the rear diff as the extra power it caint handle.

The lower number will have faster top speed, higher number is slower but better for hill climbing (more torque)

Its not that good at going straight at high speed still mostly got original steering parts I did just add metal adjust tie rods

There is a better wltoys vehicle out now I can recommend if you like? When it comes to batteries best to get a proper genuine charger for them.

High T is slow speed.. 55T is slow.
Low T is fast speed. 17T is faster

Hi yes the lower the T number the faster it will be but it will be less torque so not good for climbing hills etc

Can you break using this motor on the video it says 3cell ? I thought lipo or lion batteries can be 7.4 only at 2 cell no matter the chemistry?
2cell can only be 7.4 but I also ran 3 cell that is 11.1V there are even 22.2volt 6s batteries..

You replaced the motor with the same one that was originally. Same specs. You changed the 540 motor to a 540 motor. For what?
540 is just the physical size of the motor the one I replaced it with has less windings making it a faster motor.
@@Imazdadrags It was possible to put another gear with a large number of teeth instead of a new motor. The effect will be the same.
@@pes_Arnold new motor is better quality than the cheap crappy stock one..
