Hello, Lovelies! I have now created an updated version of this video about setting up a home studio, which includes setting up HS7 and active/passive speakers and a better explanation of the balanced/unbalanced situation. Also, if you wonder what cables come with HS7 and how to connect monitors to an interface, THAT IS ALL IN THE NEW VIDEO.
Hi, how are you getting on with the HS7’s? And how big is your room by the way? I was looking at getting these but my room
Is about 3m x 2.7m so don’t know it it’s a bit small for these? Thanks
Adam Pickering loving them 🙌 my room is tiny and the speakers are defo too big for my room :) you can fill a big room with these ones
Do they sound good in a small room? I’m looking at using these for house music production. Worried about the amount of bass in such a small room. Thankss! X
Adam Pickering they do sound good :) just make sure you have good bass traps in the corner and you’ll be fine :)
You're so stupid really, talk much more than you poop, haven't even try or test the speak bla Bla bla talking about stupid things idiot
3:00 both inputs are balanced. Only in the case of a mono jack you get the unbalanced sound.
Yes! This is corrected in my new video about the topic!
Not awkward at all - thanks for taking time to make this and awesome music prod short at the end ♥️
Those are some of the best tips on how to setup and calibrate your monitors in your home studio without any fancy expensive mics and softwares.
Try recording without white noise from the monitors (record silence) and you will see some frequencies (most likely where you have spikes) are there in the silent room already.
Thanks for the video ❤️
Happy it was usefull!
Hello, yes I've just upgraded to HS7s. Can't wait to they arrive.
That’s awesome! Congrats!
Hey, ! Stumbled across your channel after buying the Yamaha monitors. I just love your demeanor and attitude. You go girl!
Thanks Harry! ☺️
I love that you finish with showing how you created the music in the videos!
I love that she's Finnish. :)
So great!!
Thank you for being straight forward 😭 you’re so awesome!!!!
I am so glad you liked it 😁❤️
this was very clear. Thank you!
This was super helpful
thanks so much :)
Thank you for the information
It is truly appreciated
Keep on going💯

Love your videos!
Hi from México, excelent videos! I have Just buy the same Hs7, amazing Sound.
Thank you for the archive of videos!
Glad you like them!
Nice review, I have them combined with HS8S sub and they sound fantastic with my SMSL M100 DAC. I use RCA to XLR from the M100 to the sub and from there its all XLR to the speakers.
great video im getting a pair of hs8's and im very excited
Awesome! Enjoy!
This was super helpful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
wow great unboxing and explaning!
thank you!
Thanks so much! ☺️
Thanks, the video helped me a lot
Ive the exact same monitors, theyre insanely loud! Also top tip - buy some cheap yoga blocks and use those to isolate. I spent a long time testing different isolation materials and the yoga bricks are perfect bang for buck!
Great vid. I just got my HS8s today. I hope 1 day I can do what you just did to balance my EQs and stuff ://///
Thanks for the help with the indoor setup.
Happy to help :)
Just FYI. The manual shows both the XLR and 1/4 jack as “balanced” so as long as you use a TRS cable both options will be balanced.
Great video, thank you so much!
Glad you liked it! 🙌
Great Video!!!😊👍🏼
Thanks!
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Your welcome, you have a new Subscriber. Keep up the great work!!!😊👍🏼

Hyvä video 🤘🏽
Kiitti! ☺️
Hreat job! It helps a lot! Thanks :)
Glad to hear! :)
Cute monitor stands! :D
Hah thanks! Sadly they have been replaced now 😂
I like your vlogs, you talk about everything in an interesting way ... I like you.
Thanks 🙂
very informative! thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!
Just a suggestion, try getting the UMIK-1 or a Dayton Audio EMM-6 mic for your speakers/room correction, then download REW, a free room acoustics analysis software for measuring and analyzing room and loudspeaker responses. Your mic condenser is not ideal for room correction as you mentioned on the video, but great video and thanks for the review!
Rafael Torres yep! Gonna do a proper room correction video in one point :)
Kävin juuri tänään tilaamassa nämä kaiuttimet, oli kiva törmätä tähän videoon. Hyvältä näyttää, jatka videoiden tekemistä! Laitoin kanavan seurantaan :)
Kiva kun tykkäsit ja kiitos seuraksesta! 🤗
Thanks for your video and nice palm trees :) Just wondering, would it make sense to permanently put an EQ plugin on your main output to compensate the boost you are hearing at 120 HZ. Is there anything in trying that.
Great video! Helped me a lot
Have a look at my recent roo treatment video! I talk more about room correction in that :)
Hey so I just bought a pair of these!!! What extra cables and other accessories do I need??
Thank you very helpful video 🌈👍🙏🏼
Glad you liked it :)
Hi i noticed the balanced speeker out cable looked like a stereo jack plug.. I'm using the steinberg UR44C interface with cubase. Can you plug that cable into the line outputs on that. Plus what did you plug yours into.. ??? Thanks
Do you think should I go with hs7 for a 2,5mx3m room (2,8 m high) or it's better hs5 for my case. I need low frequencies and I saw that Hs5 aren't to good for low frequencies...
Does this output work for the solo or do I need this model
The manual says that the interface should be connected to the P10 input and mixer should be connected to XLR. Does it make any difference to connect the interface in XLR input?
Thank you for your video! How are the acoustic pads for hs7's in terms of naighbours? Any difference?
hi from Macedonia . love video .....
Hi From England! Happy you liked it! :)
Do you recommend to use room control -4db? i know u said from the video that's patchy but I'm very concern about excessive low ends
Nice explain mam..
Glad you liked it! :)
Is it possible to go get an XLR to RCA cable? My interface doesn't have the jack shown in the video.
This has been a really helpful explanation and review. I’ve had my HS7’s for a little while now, and just kept them flat, it you’ve clarified the control’s beautifully. ✌️
I am glad it helped! 😁 i do have some other videos on the set up as well, they might interest you :)
Do you think they lack bass?
Hi. I have a question about my tv. Monitor. I hooked it up to my iPad and GarageBand. Got a pair of HS8s too. Everything’s cool except the sound is only playing through the tv speakers and not the HS8s. Just wondered if you could help. Thank you.
When you plugged in your tv it will have defaulted to the tv's audio driver. It's just a case of looking at the audio an changing it back to the iPad audio.

You’re an awesome 😎 RUclips channel.
Nice speakers! How do these compare to krk rokit 5's, I'm looking at both at the moment. Which ones would you recommend 🤔
@Ru... I'm in the same situation. What did you decide? Cheers!
Yamaha are recommended by more people due to them being neutral.
noobie question... I bought a pair of studio monitors (presonus R80s). I plugged scarlett 2i2 in then Powered my monitors on. Then accidently I knocked my USB cable came out on my audio interface - was not intentional. I might just be imagining things (given they're my first studio monitors) but there is very minor noise from the tweeters only with volume off, is this normal? When I play my monitors they sound great... But I can't tell if a slight static noise is normal?
How do you feel about the bass? Is it going through the walls easily because of the rear ports?
The low end is good as the whole frequency scale is flat, whitout any highlighting of different areas. Perfect and accurate for production, mixing and mastering. I been liking them a lot.
Dope thanks for answering. Already have a couple KRK's but I'm thinking about adding these to have 2 different monitors to go back and forth with during the mixing & mastering process. @@LNADoesAudioStuff
@@LNADoesAudioStuff PS. check my music. I'm on Spotify
Chyde
is my name there. Just dropped a single today actually.
In the future, just turn the box upside down while its open. MUCH easier! haha
That’s dangerous
You should do it sideways on a table
@@bobbykillemagain.7958 Dangerous? No.
i just found out that if you put the hs facing straight to the back of your room (not the triangle form facing to your head at an angle), you can hear the center of the music better. weird but true.
What’s the difference between a standard album 💿 vs a deluxe album 💿 and are they both the same or different from each other?
Is it safe to go above the 4db or is it a no go ?
17K views! Woah go girl
😍🙏
Nice video. How do you like them now that you have had them for almost 3 years? Thanks and have a nice New Years...

Thanks! Still liking them, good value!
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Thanks for the info. I have been on the fence for my studio choosing between these monitors or the Kali Audio In-8 (version 2) 3 way monitors. I appreciate the reply.

Are the power cables included or did you have to buy them separately?
depends of the package. here they are included: amzn.to/2UMo9gM
Thanks a lot :)
No worries! :D
nice video, keep going on!
maybe you can help me, i bought a pair of hs7`s and connected them to my scarlett 2i2, which is also new. Now the right box, when I am not using it while turned on, makes knocking/tapping sounds every 30 seconds for 1 or 2 seconds. I tried to switch the xlrs and nothing changed. Is something wrong with the box or is there anything I can do?
Nice greets
That could be the sound when scarlet turns on. Maybe there is an issue with the USB? Otherwise there might be an issue with the speaker :)
@@LNADoesAudioStuff thanks a lot, for your answer!
I tried everything, till I just shut the PC down and waited some minutes. After restart the sounds didnt appear again, for now.
Greets
3:05 Actually both connectors are balanced, one is TRS balanced the other is XLR
Greetings, although I might have arrived a bit late, I would like to ask you if the HS5s are worth it, the issue is that I didn't have enough money to invest for the HS7s, and although my room is kinda small, the corner I am going to set them up is way more far than the other corner.. So, there's a bit more room, how big is your room? Cause from the video I can see that it's even smaller than mine but you still bought the 7s.. Are you happy with their quality and position?
use sweet water 6 easy payment options and get the hs8
thank you
So in this moment do you recommend that studio monitors?
Felipe Vesga Yes I do. For their price, the monitors have served me well 👌 I do feel that when mixing, they give a good repensation of the actual frequency balance.
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Thanks 😊 Greetings from Colombia!
will the mic sound come out of the studio speakers? I’d just like to know how to hear my mic out loud without headphones
it depends how you're routing the audio but you can absolutely get it
Hey! Was wondering what are those boxes u have for the screen and the speakers? carboard with some filling? cos I thought that was a great idea!
Hah yes they are just boxes with x-mas rapping paper on them 😂 don’t have them anymore though... as u you can see from ny new videos :)
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Oh ok thanks for replying. I'm new to your channel! :D and I just got these speakers and bizarrely your room setting looks like mine lol I saw that you got now wood drawers instead of the boxes and that's a great idea!! But now since I was set back (sad sad face) due for paying for the HS7 I'll go for the cardboard boxes with x-mas rapping LOL!!! thank you for showing ur room like a real one would :) #carboardboxxmasrappingteam random question.... what's inside the boxes? LOL!
@@Fuiape hah great! They have actually bubble-wrap inside them :D
the TRS connections in the HS7's are balanced.....
Very true. I noticed that also after. 👌
Front ported monitors might be better for how close they are to the room
Cool
☺️
Did you still have the HS7's or did you decide to get other monitors?
Still have them :)
You need to place you high tweeters at the same height as your ears
What cord was it she used to connect speaker ??
Are those xlr's included or do i have to by them seperatly?
You need to buy them separately :)
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Lol why didnt i see this comment earlier 😂😭 Now i have to wait and cant use them
@@eray.1605 lol same. Just got mine, and i have to buy cables separate as well
Microphone Isolation booth for your mike will help too. HS7 are heavy, i was surprised when I got mine.
peter castle yep they are suprisingly big but been really happy with mine 👌
Will you be getting the Yamaha monitoing headphones. They sound exactly the same as the speakers.
I could in one point. I have really awesome audio-technica ones now, that have amazing balance :)
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Yamaha all the way, what do you think of Push 2? I am not sure which way to go. i use Mixcraft 8 studio.now need a unit standalone unit MPC live, Akai Force or Machine MK3?
peter castle I am so bias as I am absolute Push 2 fan. But I am also loving Ableton Live so Push 2 is natural additon for me. Both of those are good, but all have their own specialities.
The best thing you could do for that room is ditch the foam and build some proper sound panels. When you DIY them, it isnt that expensive.
5:34 you should be use a pink noise & a special measurement mic to get better results
No, you should be use, bruh!
Thanks for the video. I learned a lot. I really like your voice. I’m trying to to guess where you are from. You kinda sound Irish, German and British. But I’m probably completely off ?
Happy you liked the video :) I am Finnish Living in England, not easy accent to notice 😂
@@LNADoesAudioStuff ahh okay. It's nice to hear a cool accent/way to speak :)
May I ask, what frequency ( spectrum analyzer ) you used, and where to get? Thank You!!
In this video I just used the Ableton’s own analyzer :)
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Thanks for the reply!. I'm running Digital Performer 10 , yet I'm not finding one in the program, maybe I'm missing it, I'll call MOTU. I'm right where you were, new speakers and room set-up, I'd like to get it all correct. Enjoyed your video.
BTW, how is the low end on your HS7's? I'm not into rap or hiphop, more like churchy stuff, R&B drums....
Dave Chmela sounds good! Otherwise you can dowload them from online. Check out some of the new videos also about doing up your home studio! This weeks video will be about vocal recording and mixing them :)
Dave Chmela it’s really even, so no boost. That’s why it’s perfect for mixing tracks 👌
Is there a reason the foam is uneven? Diagonal
Hello. What size isolation pads are they please? Do you have a link?

SeahawkSwagg yep! 👌

i bought a pair of new Yamaha HS7 monitors, and they worked perfectly the first time i turned them on. went out of town for two weeks, turned them on, and they were making static white noise. figured out that they were making noise even without any other cables being plugged into it(other than the power cord). tried multiple outlets too, and they all gave me the same results. i actually exchanged my HS7's for a new pair, and the new pair had the same problem. my theory is that someone in my building bought a new appliance, and that is what is giving me the interference. need to find a device that can help with this as moving out is not a option.
It must be electrical interference. I had the same problem with one of mine. When I moved it to another location, the noise stopped.
I bought some speaker stands and setup in the same location where the noise was happening and all is good so far. I'm thinking there's an electrical cable behind the wall where that speaker is.
In case anyone stumbles on this having the same issue, make sure your computer and speakers are not sharing a plug/power strip. That can cause a ground loop which will create static and drive you crazy
Are you in Finland?
My choice would be Genelec- made in Finland but there is the cost factor.
No in England, but would love a pair of Genelects 🇫🇮
Where did you get the foam board from?
Link below the vid 😁
It just shows the walls.
Ok so do you plug in the speakers seperately to the electric unit
Yes, they have separate power cables
@@LNADoesAudioStuff ok thanks
Dear LNA, are the xlr-cables included?

For female, you do great content unlike these "man" who show half things because want more views, I never knew u can just take mic n test like that just for basic knowing, thanks sister, And oh get sonarworks and room measure mic even cheap brand
Would you say a 7 inch speaker is too big for a 10 by 11 feet semi treated room. Thanks for sharing.
A lot say its too powerful but some monitors you can adjust them for room size. I have Yamaha HS8's in a room that size and they boom until you adjust them at the back and they sound good.
@@darrenhirst9900 So the adjustments do work?

Kiitos :)
Moikka! Ei tule TRS kaapelia mukana ikävä kyllä. Mun huone on tosi pieni ja oon huomannu paremmin tutkittuani et low-end boosti johtuu nurkkien äänipaneeleista. Teen varmaan jossain vaihees paremman acoustic treatment - videon tällä channelille (eli kantsii subscribata jos kiinnostaa 🤗) Tuotan paljon ihan poppia ja kaikkee siitä läheltä, ja on toiminu kyl hyvin (koska se freaquncy respose on tosi ihanan tasanen verratuna moniin tän hintasiin monitoreihin) ja tyytyväinen oon ollu! Ehdottomasti siis suosittelen. :)
