12qt WoT Yeah, that's right, but Europe will have 50 years so it wouldn't be surprising if they got pretty normal techmology lvl even without centres of institutions
Do you have source for such claim? As far as I can tell no institution has prerequisite of all others to be spawned. You can observer quite often nations having institution in random order.
for me it's resisting to use cheat commands, the game is so slow, and complicated I end up exploiting the cash, stability and admin, diplo and military point cheats like crazy, if only to be able to develop my provinces and advance tech. I've never played a game where I didn't get impatient and started to cheat.
Good work. On all your videos i've seen so far. This new format is very interesting. Playing a game for a specific (vh) achievement combined with your analysis and reasoning.
Yeah, I love how many things can be analyzed in EU4 that can lead to different/crazy strats. Things like Florryworry's 40 step guide to getting super natives really captures the essence of what makes this game fun for thousands of hours.
:> thanks love your stuff too buddy! You've inspired me to stop using machete and paint when making tutorial videos ;D Although I'm still a massive noob when it comes that hehe
I thought you were going to talk about no-cb-ing ming, collecting in Bengal and taking out 25+ loans to buy a star fort in your capital when you've mysteriously gotten tech 27 by year 1456. And driving into Moscow without facing any opposition whatsoever and somehow capitulating France (no one would really be surprised though) as a direct consequence of it, of-course.
One very insignificant thing, but hey its something. At the very beginning of the game you can cue up a bunch of mercs/regulars to deplete your treasury/manpower. You get two missions (Accumulate Money and Recover Manpower Reserves). You can easily complete these missions by taking your troops off the queue and letting a day pass.
Sure, but that's pretty exploity. There's also a trick you can do with the colonization mission to get it to target Manila instead of another province. You briefly colonize Tondo, wait for the mission to update, take the mission that now targets Manila, abandon your colony in Tondo, then colonize Manila. Also, if you're REALLY into cheese you can make Shitatsu a general and slam him into natives again and again to kill him off early. I didn't do any of that here though.
I tried that a whole day after you once mentioned killing him off this way in one of the first videos. :P But the way you demonstrate here is fairly relieable and I think in the beginnging you really need every money you can get. Great video as usual. :)
Hi Reman, Noticed you didn't hire any advisors for this first segment, I'm assuming you value the warchest higher then additional monarch points. My question is this: assuming an event or any other situation gives you more money at some point what would be the break point where you'd decide to go with an advisor or more? Subsequent question: how deep do you find it fun to go with opportunity cost analysis for your strategies? You seem to go pretty far and that's great for us, just wanting to make sure you're finding it fun enough to keep at it:P Thank you and great work, have lots of other questions so maybe you also have an AMAA planned at some point? :D
Second that. I would like to know if not hiring advisers and saving money is a special strategy. Monarchpoints are so valuable at the beginning because of the need to buy Renaissance and getting to the first Idea Group and the ideas themselves.
@Reman's Paradox You forgot to mention to delete the cavalry, which is important for accumulating money. Otherwise great video, you've won yourself a new subscriber :)
can you do an updated video. Because the philippeans now are individual nations. and could you discuss the +ves and -ves of the 'become shogun as ryukyu' strat
Very interesting video =) Question: I've never played with negative stability before. When is it worth to lose stability with things like no cb wars? And when do you get back to positive or zero stability?
In general you dont want to have negative stability. The only thing which is helped through neg.Stab. are migrating indians since the migration timer is lowered. Is it worth to declare no cb-wars? Thats a tricky one. You mostly declare no-cb for two reasons: you wanna be fast at the start of the game or you just cant get a normal cb. Somewhat depends on how vital does provinces are for you. If rebels are breaking your country do not stab up since stability gets reset after that.If you have some admin to spare or high stab.cost.reduction i would say its worth it to go for +1, sometimes +2. If this is not the case i would advise to stay with zero. But this highly depends on your situation and comes with playing this game just alot. I hope that helps you.
The last time I used it was when I played as Portugal, and just wanted to take Granada before Castille could. One of my goals was to become the dominant force on the Iberian peninsula before colonialism started.
Hi! How about Colonization guide after Ryuku? :) It seems to be easy, and we can just send colonists but if we want to be effective there is a looooot of stuff to consider.
Some small stuff; Can sell galleys. Privateering seemed to pay of better then collecting in Beijing. You may have the option to go into Brunei or Sunda with the help of their "counterpart". If you don't fund an army you can have a admin advisor (from 1449), you lose 2-3 years on the first, 3-4 on every colony after. And it can give you some good events overall. Like a + swing in stability from comet (like he says you got plenty of time, but bad events can screw you). I did the math on keeping the army or deleting it and i think I found you should delete it. Haven't player to much around with the going Coptic but seems like the best option to me atm. Rule ONE. A good Heir is "king". you will need about 4-4-X. Anything more and you don't need to play so uptight with your mana. Reroll with prestige. Doesn't hurt the run more then the time investment a restart is.
Hello Reman, how would you change the Ryukyu opener now that there is a country on manila? would you just pick another province to settle or no CB one of the new nations in the first few years?
Hey man, since the new patch made the philipines have nations at 1444 start its hard to start now. can you give a little guide on how to start now? would mean a lot
I think you're referring to the glitch in how the achievement is written, where the any_country check doesn't include the player. So basically you can get the achievement as long as you and Ryukyu and Ryukyu's subjects are the only countries that exist. If that still works in 1.20 I'll include it in my next exploits list.
yes, but according to the founder of that exploit it would also work on a one tag with no cns, with tagswitches allowed. I've not been able to test this however, since i've done the release vassal into "one tag" with ryukyu as only vassal and have the achievement so I can't test this way. (forum link : forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/three-mountains-as-horde.996038/page-9)
Is it possible to briefly colonise that island just south of the Maldives, then fabricate a claim and abandon colony to save a No-CB war? Just thinking you might struggle with the colonial range though
Hey Reman I am still a fairly new EU4 player and i don't own any expantions or DLCs, which one should i buy first? Btw, your videos are great, They really help me a lot!
Hi Reman! I love your channel. I'm going to try Ryukyu WC and was wondering how do you do it now since you can't colonize Manila due to there is a country =) Any other good tips to begin with?
You can no CB Manila, if you completely blockade them whoever they are allied with (Tondo etc..) won't answer the call to arms since you'll be at 26% war score.
You should've mentioned a few things in this run that heavily impaired mine, here they are: 1. How do you deal with the colonial maintenance when sustaining a colony? I didn't have a lot of money when I started colonizing because shit events that basically forced me to give up my treasury,so I had to take a few loans and that led to my country falling apart unless I abandon the colony; 2. In the current patch, Tondo and Manila are now independent nations, not colonizable provinces. Should I try to fight them or colonize Taiwan (seeing as there's also a pretty decent development province in the south)?
If you first start a colony in Bikol and keep it for a just a day, a mission comes up to colonize Manilla (as Manilla is the only adjacent province within colonial range at that time). Accept mission, recall colonist, reduce colony maintenance so that colony in Bikol dies and then colonize Manilla. This should speed up a bit growing the first colony to city.
thanks for this series I Always wondered how people conquer the world without starting early I have only been able to world conquest as Austria with pu over bohemia Hungary and england AND feeding the HRE massively.
Hi Reman, thanks for the vids, if Mandate of Heaven changes anything to this strategy it'd be great to have some annotations or a reference to that in your next vid :) thanks again
Were do you find the required ments for colonialism to spawn and other institution I would really like it to play somewhere and snatch Al the institutions
12:00 It's not weird, it refers to a single province... places like Japan is not a single province. It doesn't make sense to say it is weird x) It's 100% logical. Sorry, just had to say it. GREAT video btw!
when u take exploration ideas u get the missions with it immediately colonize the first missions requirment (Panzy) but dont take mission this will give another mission to colonize Manila take that recall the colonist from Panzy and abandon the colony then colonize Manilla this will give you extra colonists and settler chance when it hits 400 pop
Can you just imagine if some tiny little island nation just got possesed by an evil spirit with its only goal being to conquer the fucking world and it dedicates all its resourses and brainpower to do so?
If all rulers of Ryukyu were possesed by some evil spirit ( read the player ) with the goal to conquer the world and every single ruler would be absolutely commited to that goal
You can still manage it, but it is definitely harder. I made a custom nation in Taiwan and took over the one province state in the Philippines right next to Tondo before they had any allies, then worked from there to take Tondo and Manilla. It's rougher initially and you may need to restart if that country gets allies too quick or gets eaten by someone else before you can get there, but after you have that foothold you can conquer the Philippines much quicker because you don't need to wait to colonize it all.
Also one thing you should change in this tactic is :Selling galleys to Japanese countries instead of disbanding them. You can get nice amount of money in the start with that (compared to your income). And one question: Normally i would just privateer Beijing trade node instead of collecting from trade. Which one is better in this situation?
The only critical DLC for this opener is Common Sense so you can develop the Renaissance. You can oftentimes find it on sale for as little as $5. But yeah, I disagree with Paradox putting an essential feature like developing provinces behind a paywall. At the very least they should include an alternate route for getting institutions for the RotW.
Another great video, thanks for these guides, I have a couple of question though. Whenever developing the province isn't it better to first give it to the merchant guilds rather than switching the capital straight away ? Also, as Arumba pointed out in his run, it would be a better investment to get a province from Brunei and Develop your capital in the Malacca trade node, which you can later use to spawn global trade without having to move your capital a second time.
Great video as always, thank you very much. I have a question about your expansion into the Indonesian region (or the lack of it): What is the reason for not attacking and absorbing the small animistic OPM or maybe even Brunei? Edit: The question was answered in the next video.
Wouldn't it be better to sell the galleys at the start of the game instead of deleting them? Also I'm pretty sure privateering Bejing at the start of the game actually makes you more money (only about 0.1 ducats) than protecting trade there.
Yeah, selling galleys would be better. I completely forgot about that feature since I almost never use it. And I tried privateering, but Ming often sends ships to hunt for pirates.
Would it be more beneficial to develop the provinces in the Philippines (like Panay) to get it up to 12 development so there's a higher chance of Colonialism spawning, or does the province need to have 12 Development to start out with?
I'm not sure exactly how it works but it is possible to sell single Galleys to Japanese Daimyos with 8 ducats a piece. Normally and on some Daimyos you can only lower/raise price in increments of 10 ducats making it impossible to sell them ships unless you give them free because 10 ducats is too high price for them.
Also one possible reason Reman didn't do this is the fact that I gained 0.64% inflation in exchange for 32 ducats (I currently sold 4 galleys and can't seem to find buyer for the last one)
Cheers for this video trying my first three mountains and real WC with this(done One faith but not WC so should still be able to): quick question though....its 1500 and literally all the coptic nations are allied to one another and ethiopia has blobbed a bit (24k army...)....anything i can do or just restart (i have a copied save file from when i start colonizing so not that bad)....cheers again :)
I tried to follow your steps but I wont get the new world thing from the merchants. Therefor my colony takes like 3 more years to finish that I'm in high debt. Also I can't move my capital to Manila. :(
So yet another achievement made easier by having all the expansions. Yay Pay to Win EUIV! I've also come to the conclusion that by having the expansions Paradox gives you better events. I've done this 10 times and each time I am offered a 2/2/2 or 2/2/3 with a Weak claim. I'm sure if I had all the expansions I'd get that great 5/4/X. Either way, love your videos and still enjoyed these!
Playing this with Mandate of Heaven, Ming tends to take a lot of the ducats you build up by asking for tribute, to the point where you usually need to go into debt for the colonization of Manila. How big an issue is this and how much debt is alright to accrue, and should you consider corrupting instead? I imagine the development cost increase makes corruption not worth it.
I tried this start but I never get in such a good early position like you in your run. always takes longer to get the institution and often, as soon as I hit 1500, some other country gets colonialism. did they change somthing with the last patches, which makes this harder?
Can you say and/or add the version of the game to the description please? I know some things changed since this version of the game and I wonder what extinct mechanics did you use
How much development in manila should it take to get the renaissance. The 18 tax, 8 prod, 12 mp I needed to spawn it at 1482 seems excessive, even with the -5% dev cost from burgher loyalty. Am I missing something?
here lies europe
death by tech penalty
Ehh, they gonna get institutions by having colonial nations, trade ideas, mafuctories and so on
Institusion cannot spawn if previous isnt embraced, right? :D
12qt WoT Yeah, that's right, but Europe will have 50 years so it wouldn't be surprising if they got pretty normal techmology lvl even without centres of institutions

Especially in 1.20 after mercenaries nerf
Atamraris Tibia Wait, what Merc nerfs?!
They cost ALOT more, to get rid of that god damn merc spam

Good work. On all your videos i've seen so far.

Quality improved, nice.
Thanks for the guide, I can't wait for the next video.
I'm guessing this doesn't work since the Philippines has nations on it now
Yeah but they're relatively weak - by the time you've colonised everywhere around you you'll be bigger and stronger
couldn't it work better since you don't need to spend gold on colonizing now?
One very insignificant thing, but hey its something. At the very beginning of the game you can cue up a bunch of mercs/regulars to deplete your treasury/manpower. You get two missions (Accumulate Money and Recover Manpower Reserves). You can easily complete these missions by taking your troops off the queue and letting a day pass.
That's getting patched out in 5 days so probably now relevant
Sure, but that's pretty exploity.
There's also a trick you can do with the colonization mission to get it to target Manila instead of another province. You briefly colonize Tondo, wait for the mission to update, take the mission that now targets Manila, abandon your colony in Tondo, then colonize Manila.

Hi Reman,
Noticed you didn't hire any advisors for this first segment, I'm assuming you value the warchest higher then additional monarch points. My question is this: assuming an event or any other situation gives you more money at some point what would be the break point where you'd decide to go with an advisor or more?

Hi! How about Colonization guide after Ryuku? :) It seems to be easy, and we can just send colonists but if we want to be effective there is a looooot of stuff to consider.

Hello Reman, how would you change the Ryukyu opener now that there is a country on manila? would you just pick another province to settle or no CB one of the new nations in the first few years?
Selling the gallies in the beginning is probably better than deleting them. Ming, Korea and japanese countrys should buy them.
Hey man, since the new patch made the philipines have nations at 1444 start its hard to start now. can you give a little guide on how to start now? would mean a lot
Selling your galleys may be better then deleting them.
Privatering Beijing would make you much more money than actually protecting trade I think.
It doesn't, and Ming hunt pirates
Excellent as always.
this is a mind blowing strategy for a weaker player like me. great video.
You rock. Keep the videos coming.

Answer: A LOT
I wanna point out that you don't have to remain ryukyu to get the achievement, you can tagswitch to get better government types and/or ideas

So do I
You should've mentioned a few things in this run that heavily impaired mine, here they are:

This is a no-exploit run and the strategy you mentioned is considered an exploit. It will be mentioned in one of the following posts.

This strategy doesn't work with the Japan update anymore.
Why not? I was going to try this campaign next week. What changed?
Oh maybe the manila nation now

Might already have been asked, but why no-cb the Maldives when you could colonize the island below and claim? Is it just to get Coptic faith asap?
Can you do a new version on 1.24 update?
I thought he got ach. in 56 years. I was like "The Fuck!?" :D

But yeah, I disagree with Paradox putting an essential feature like developing provinces behind a paywall. At the very least they should include an alternate route for getting institutions for the RotW.
No. Institutions aren't in any DLC
Balsa Kovacevic 1.19
Next thursday most of the dlc's will be on sale.
institutions are from 1.18 / Prussia
love your vids keep making more!!
OK thank you for answering!
What you said at the end of the video reminds me of the Moravian conquest of the world by pravis gaming
As Ryukyu is located in the Nippon now, i dont have enough money for a colonist, is there any alternative for grtting money?
Failed to do another run so i am playing ryukyu now
Why does Ryukyu get soooo many stab hit events?
I tried to follow your steps but I wont get the new world thing from the merchants. Therefor my colony takes like 3 more years to finish that I'm in high debt. Also I can't move my capital to Manila. :(
You deleted your galleys in the beginning is there a reason why you didn't sell them ?
was thinking about doing this resantly. But now it is no longer possible to colonice manila....anly ideas ;) ?
Well, this is impossible now.
Yeap, the Philippians have 7 or so nations on them now.
No exploits? April 1? Hmmm
What music is playing in the background?
So yet another achievement made easier by having all the expansions. Yay Pay to Win EUIV! I've also come to the conclusion that by having the expansions Paradox gives you better events. I've done this 10 times and each time I am offered a 2/2/2 or 2/2/3 with a Weak claim. I'm sure if I had all the expansions I'd get that great 5/4/X. Either way, love your videos and still enjoyed these!
11th time was the charm! 3/5/2 with a strong claim. I guess I'll take it!
Perhaps wait until you become a tributary.
It's hardly a choice; Ryukyu starts as a tributary.
Sorry, I'm a poor peasant that can afford Mandate of Heaven.
I usually just cancel tributary at the start of the game.
I tought it was an april fools joke
I tried this start but I never get in such a good early position like you in your run. always takes longer to get the institution and often, as soon as I hit 1500, some other country gets colonialism. did they change somthing with the last patches, which makes this harder?
Can you say and/or add the version of the game to the description please? I know some things changed since this version of the game and I wonder what extinct mechanics did you use
And is there any way that an asian nation can spawn printing press ( excluding Ming ) ?
I almost thought this was going to be an April Fool's.
Well this doesnt work anymore it seems.
Manila is now a country and everytime i want to "settle" there they have atleast 2 nations behind them
How much development in manila should it take to get the renaissance. The 18 tax, 8 prod, 12 mp I needed to spawn it at 1482 seems excessive, even with the -5% dev cost from burgher loyalty. Am I missing something?
Any advice on patch 1.21 i sold the galley but i keep getting in money problems when i start the first colony.
Need to kill off the natives and keep army main to a min
You cant keep it minimum anymore or natives will stackwipe you.
