It just hit me why the Wily Alien is weak to Bubble Lead, and why it's the only thing that damages him: it's a hologram, so nothing can truly "hurt" it. But when you use the Bubble Lead, you aren't attacking the hologram, you're shorting out the projector with water!
@@pingasluigi25 it wouldn't be the first work of fiction that has had holograms that are capable of harming solid objects; in star trek, their holo decks can turn off safety protocols that will as such allow that projection of a bullet, which you can otherwise pick up and it will feel like and be as heavy as a bullet, will be just as deadly as a real one when shot
It's vaguely disappointing that the "Alien Wily" fight has the same boss music as the rest of the game. After that incredibly eerie (for an NES game) quiet leadup and the sudden WTF-ness of the transformation, they could have just gone full freaky and done some crazy music to go with it (or heck, even kept it silent). The familiarity of the usual boss tune really takes away the intimidation factor, I find.
Mega Man 2 and 4 are a bit odd in that regard, they don't have separate fortress boss music except for the Wily Capsule theme from 4. Kinda sad, since even Mega Man 1 had fortress boss music.
I agree. Watching your videos is a lot of fun, and I find myself learning a lot of tricks I never even knew about the game, such as the Crash Bomb one-hit kill on Wily Machine 2. Some people are just always going to find things to complain about. I say don't listen to them. You've got a lot of viewers, myself certainly included, who will gladly see you going through any Mega Man levels, Wily ones included.
I enjoy these videos, because you do something I can't even come close to doing. That aside, don't let other people get you down while doing something you enjoy. Their probably just jealous because they can't do it for whatever reason. So keep doing what you enjoy.
6:30 Pretty stars... *stares... staaaaaaaares* ...so preeeetty~ Sparkling everywhere, hehehe~ Even if it fully recharges the hologram, showing that off was totally worth it. =n.n=
Agreed. Watching and listening to Roahm do these stages is a treat. I hope he does all of them one day. The responses were thankless and hollow. I agree with his apology in the following video, but he is right to say that given the responses to great video that was very hard to make.
I'm not sure, but I think there were plans to have a separate boss theme for the Wily stages, but that never happened. This is the only game in the classic series where all the stages use the same boss music. 1 and 3 use one boss theme in the robot master stages and a different one for the Wily stages, and starting with 4, Wily's final form has its own boss theme. (Actually, in 10, both Wily Machine and Wily Capsule each have their own unique theme.)
Not sure if anyone of anyone’s mentioned this yet or you have in a future video (I’m currently binging the Perfect Run playlist), and I could be misremembering, but that “running straight through the hallway with no effort” thing only seems to work consistently if you use the pause trick before you get to the bottom of the shaft (like you did because of switching weapons). If you just hold right and jump without pausing, you’ll eventually get hit. But if you do the pause trick, due the the teleport Mega Man does that stalls his fall for a second, you’ll get some extra distance to the right during the fall and be able to make it straight through. I think the key is making sure you’re firmly “pressing” against the right wall of the shaft by the time you hit the bottom, which is only possible by doing the pause trick and constantly holding right. Like I said, I could be misremembering, as it’s been a while since I’ve played this game, but I’m pretty sure this is the case, so I just wanted to let you know.
Oh, not at all, no worries. I'm not even particularly mad at anyone, really, but even if, I don't recall anything discouraging from you. I'm glad you enjoyed the Wily vids.
All I can really advise on that is to do a few practice runs. The pattern of his blobs in MM1 remains constant. That is to say, every time he moves across the room, he disassembles himself in the same pattern. Once you get it memorized, dodging him isn't that big a problem.
im not entirely sure the falling material during the seasons are Megaman's weapons... but rather what comes with the season... Fall: Leaves of course Winter: Snow Spring: Cherry Blossoms Summer: Rain
Theres something really charming about how basic the actual mechanical part of the boss is in and out of universe when you take away the WTF factor of wily turning into an alien.
Beating all 8 bosses in order with no hits could have been it's own video easily. Great show. Keep doing what you want to do as long as you don't get hit doing it!
I can't even get past Wily's 1st stage without rage-quitting, so I really enjoy watching these perfect runs, especially the weapon master stages. I didn't see anything wrong in what he said about the commenter that wanted him to take damage or something. If you take damage, it's not a perfect run, and that's in the title of every one of these videos. So @MartenFerret, I agree it was pretty thankless and stupid of you to say, considering how much Roahm stresses perfection over weapon master guns.
I personally really enjoyed watching you play the Wily stages. I thought they were entertaining and well played. In playing Mega Man a lot myself I know that these stages force you to use weapons. Don't listen to the complainers, these videos were great. If you do decide to do the other Wily stages I'll be excited to see them.
Interesting. Not only did Quick Man stop for a second while he deflected the shot, it looks like his attack pattern reset, because after the last one he jumped three times in a row, with the second one throwing boomerangs. And even when he glitches, he NEVER jumps more than three times in a row before he runs at the player.
Mecha Dragon can by pushing you into the void, but I don't think the Alien can instant kill you. Do massive damage in one hit, yes, but not instant kill from full life.
Outstanding that you did these. It just wouldn't have felt right if you only did the Robot Masters and left the major headaches in the Wily Castle unaddressed. When you gotta use weapons, you gotta use weapons; it's not really breaking rules if the game forces you to, as the first goal is still finishing the game; obviously takes priority over Buster Only, and you did hold the No Damage all throughout the run too; 2 out of 3 and 3rd only broken when needed to not break the others. Great job!
3:20 - Am I the only one who thinks that the ending to this game unintentionally foreshadows Mega Man X? He leaves his helmet behind...and is nowhere to be seen in that series, not even being referenced despite Light and Wily from the series being mentioned. The image sends chills down my spine every time exactly because there's no disclosure. And I'm not even that attached to good ol' Rock. But playing as him throughout the game and seeing him disappear like that seems ominous. I might not have had the same thoughts if I didn't play Mega Man X first.
It's the end here, but I feel like even after years I should do this: my personal boss ranking with only buster, no damage (battle only). 8. Crash man 1/10 The exploit is so easy to pull off it's pathetic. Failed only once. No comment. 7. Bubble man 1/10 Once again, an easy exploit. Stand right next to the guy and he'll never fire his harpoons, his bubbles will float over you, and you just then step to the side before he drops down. I was thinking of putting him at no. 4 until I found the exploit. Atleast his music is my favorite in the entire series. 6. Heat man 2/10 People really think his stage is harder than it is, ONLY 3 BLOCKS DIFFERENCE. Anyways, his battle is easy to predict after you jump through the first set of fire. The part that gets me is his different time of moving before firing again. Tried 4 times so it's not too hard. 5. Metal man 2/10 Including his stage, it's only a 3/10. The pattern of the metal blades is rather predictable and easy. Not much to say. Sometimes certain patterns can screw me over though. 4. Flash man 4/10 Saw this one coming? Flash man's stage (second to Air man) is really tedious for me. The 'crazy cannon' at the beginning really screwed me over. The way I got through was; count the shots at the start then run. There's a small amount of room as it tilts up. Yes, his stage is short, but annoying. The other crazy cannon that got me was the one shooting at you when you dropped down in the room. He's not as easy as people say he is when you don't have metal blades. He's the tallest non-fat robot master (Air man and Wood man) which doesn't help with his uneven ground and trying to jump over him. I just seem to always get caught at the worst moments with the time-stopper, even if he does have terrible aim. I think he should be more durable and Bubble man less durable, just my thought. Still my favorite RM in the series and his music is rockin! 3-2. Wood man/Air Man 8/10 I couldn't decide, Air man gave me easy patterns until he jumped to the other side where I got the almost impossible patterns. I don't like that his wind blocks my shots. I always found myself over-jumping his shots, so I had to beat him before he blowed me to the other side. Or, there's Wood man, who is made just to annoyingly block my shots. He's easier to hit but more durable, slowly creeping to me. No matter all my practice I could never jump over or go under him. I barely won as he threw out a leaf sheild when I shot the inside of it. It was like a pixel away from hitting me. I had to beat him before he reached me. Also, screw those falling leaves. Both of them I had to beat at a certain time before I would get hit somehow. Both I spent 20 minutes on each. Air man is way easier beating than beating without damage. 1. Quick man 10/10 Fairly obvious as we all expected this, Quick man just doesn't have a pattern. He can do a short hop, blocking you, then throw out his "quick" boomerangs which, at that point, is almost impossible to avoid. He always tracks you down even though he's supposed to go wall-to-wall. He's bugged. His boomerangs are easy to avoid as long as they don't spread out, if they do, you better hope their below you or you'll get a face full of 'em. When he runs, sometimes he falls in the gaps and others he runs right over them plowing into you, and that is how his weird staged lair works both for and against you. How I beat him was when he ran, he ran right into a ledge where I got 2-3 hits each time and I could manipulate where he ran. As long as he's on the same height as you, UNLOAD! I kept shooting him everytime he dropped down. It took almost a full hour of just battling to win. I also re-did his battle, so that's twice! Just so I could say I beat him mega buster, no damage twice. True pain. His stage is also shorter than Flash man, unlike what people say. That's about it. Ok cool bye.
Right, I'll probably do the other Wily stages eventually, but for now I just want to get back to Robot Masters, they're all I really intented to do from the start, but this was an interesting challenge.
This once more falls under the category of not being able to afford anything fancy for recording these videos, as such, I just use the keyboard. This is one thing I'm unsure if I'd want to do differently even if I could however, as from personal experience, gamepads for computers can be a bit iffy. The only one I've ever had was next to impossible to set up, and the end result was hardly worth the effort.
Now that you have gotten bored enough to do the other Wily stages (your words, not mine ;-) ) when you get to the last two stages of MM3, which are even more disappointing than this one, are you going to combine them into one video, or separate them? Just curious. :-)
Possibly, but again I put those in the "not for a long while" category, if for no other reason than the fact that I'm kind of tired of fighting Air Man and Quick Man at this point.
Right, it's only the bottom two rows of shots from the Yellow Devil's pieces that you really have to worry about. It's made a little harder since you can't slide in the first game, but well timed jumping saves the day.
Thanks. The weird thing is, I never personally played the first 2 games, atleast to my memory. The 3rd one however, I do remember playing, but it's been awhile since I went from beginning to end.
I'm not going to ask you to play them, but I have to ask your opinion just out of curiosity - which is more of a disappointment, the last stage from Mega Man 2, or the last two stages from Mega Man 3? (After all, those don't even have acid drops! ;-) )
Hm.... I can't immediately think of much in the way of definitive problem areas in that stage, except of course the Foot Holder room. There, you'll either have to be patient and lucky, or just use the Magnet Beam to get across. Yellow Devil's weakness is the Thunder Beam, so just practice, get good at remembering the pattern of his pieces, and he shouldn't be much trouble. Tedious, yes, but difficult, no.
Alien Wily from Wily Planet 419 has been Disintegrated Results:Mega Man has Conquered the 2nd fortress of Dr. Wily for The Mythril Dragons Casualties:900,000 People have Died from a Massive Alien Attack by the Daleks
Wily is an alien! Who would of thought. That's my reaction the first time I saw it. As for Megaman and the seasons, I still find it werid that they make Megaman Pink. Nice run through, Roahm. Good dragon. See you in the next game.
You do have a point there: it seems that PC gamepads, even the wired variety, don't seem to work well with NES platformers. Myself? I play Mega Man Anniversary on a Gamecube, which, fortunately, works fine with the newer controller. Still, the fact that you're using a _keyboard_, is very impressive on it's own.
Lol every time he controls something he looks like he's struggling to escape and when he is defeated and is begging for mercy he looks like he's bowing down in gratitude.
Your skill is _very_ impressive. But, in my case, your amusing commentary is as much the real show. And you're able to (sorta) repeat yourself after 63 attempts or whatever? That's amazing.
@RoahmMythril Uh...Late response I know, but your memory serves wrong. It's 4 blades, allowing you 112 shots not counting recharges before you run out.
@levelmaster2 Not sure about that with the Dragon. Maybe I'll load up and jump into the dragon on purpose to see. lol The Alien though does 20 points of damage on contact damage. Rock has 28 HP so, it might not be instant kill, but its pretty damaging. It might be instant kill in the Genesis version, though, but I've always played the NES. Oh and very nice job on this Roahm~
Well, I can see how the lackluster response to it was hardly worth the (TREMENDOUS, I assume!) effort of no-damage-buster-only running the entire slew of bosses! I could never do that - and against the MM2 bosses, probably just about the hardest batch to do that against (that or MM3's, thanks to Needle/HardMan). For the longest time, I wouldn't even touch the Wily levels at all! You'll change your mind eventually, I'm sure. But certainly with more realistic conditions. Rock on!
Alien Dr. Wily... I never got too far in megaman 2, I just didn't have the completionist attitude when I was younger. I've only got one comment, Wily will move infinitely an infinite number of times. Which is partially why we have megaman 9. Wily be fight you infinitely.
The X files Song Is really come from japan artist called kitaro.Still in my country's TV they use Kitaro song a lot too.In Buddha ,social help TVprogram or other thing like that. he is my fav one. dont want you to miss credit it.
I'm sorry you feel that way, I was not trying to single anyone out. I replied to the PM you sent me, I hope it better explains what I was feeling at the time. If I upset or offended you, it was completely unintended, and for that, I apologize.
I checked and found that MegaMan 5 and MegaMan 6 don't require any special weapons, even on their final bosses. MegaMan 6 forces you to switch to Rush Jet a lot though, including against one very annoying boss.
@RoahmMythril From the rumors I've heard (just rumors) the head of the dragon is instant kill but I've never seen this and the Alien was post to be instant kill just by touching it but haven't seen it myself.
IIRC, MM8 was also the one where Light called Wily "Doctuh Wahwy", so um, yeah. And planes have fins, but they aren't fish. So your argument is invalid.
@RoahmMythril My apologies, I didn't check the dates closely enough, I thought this was posted only a couple of months ago. Oh well, cheers anyway, I only stumbled upon these videos recently, keep up the good work.
Fish Man = Bass I don't see why you apologised for the ending of this video. You weren't as polite as usual, sure, but you were hardly rude, you're pretty polite by nature. I've seen people do things ten times worse and never apologise.
Actually, IIRC, the bottom two rows are really all you actually need to pay attention to. The rest should fly over your head harmlessly. Panic is your worst enemy there. Oh, that, and leading his shots. You don't want to get him firing in "headshot range," you'll never dodge that.
@RoahmMythril Massive damage eh?.................I bet megaman's worst weakness of all is.... 1: spikes 2: Aliens Lets hope there isn't alien man and if there is...I hope it doesn't does more damage than before.
MM3 revisited stages *require* Rush Jet/Coil. So it's unlikely to Buster-Only those, if not impossible. Still, you think QuickMan's a bitch now, "Doc QuickMan" (being big as a house!) is gonna drive you NUTS.
btw, if you like resident evil at all check out my stuff. Im looking for challenge ideas because I think everyone else has already done all the play throughs and stuff

+BigKlingy That begs the question of how the projector actually damages you, but, it's a video game.
What if Wily is shooting you while you fight the hologram?
Dries it out and/or gives time for self repair? Absorbs the energy to fuel self repair?
Indeed. And no reason the projector can't have a weapon mounted on it.

People really think his stage is harder than it is, ONLY 3 BLOCKS DIFFERENCE. Anyways, his battle is easy to predict after you jump through the first set of fire. The part that gets me is his different time of moving before firing again. Tried 4 times so it's not too hard.
5. Metal man 2/10
Including his stage, it's only a 3/10. The pattern of the metal blades is rather predictable and easy. Not much to say. Sometimes certain patterns can screw me over though.
4. Flash man 4/10

3-2. Wood man/Air Man 8/10
I couldn't decide, Air man gave me easy patterns until he jumped to the other side where I got the almost impossible patterns. I don't like that his wind blocks my shots. I always found myself over-jumping his shots, so I had to beat him before he blowed me to the other side. Or, there's Wood man, who is made just to annoyingly block my shots. Air man is way easier beating than beating without damage.
1. Quick man 10/10
Fairly obvious as we all expected this, Quick man just doesn't have a pattern. He can do a short hop, blocking you, then throw out his "quick" boomerangs which, at that point, is almost impossible to avoid. He always tracks you down even though he's supposed to go wall-to-wall. Results:Mega Man has Conquered the 2nd fortress of Dr. Wily for The Mythril Dragons
Casualties:900,000 People have Died from a Massive Alien Attack by the Daleks
Wily is an alien! Who would of thought. That's my reaction the first time I saw it. As for Megaman and the seasons, I still find it werid that they make Megaman Pink.
Nice run through, Roahm. Good dragon.
See you in the next game.
You do have a point there: it seems that PC gamepads, even the wired variety, don't seem to work well with NES platformers.
Myself? I play Mega Man Anniversary on a Gamecube, which, fortunately, works fine with the newer controller.
Still, the fact that you're using a _keyboard_, is very impressive on it's own.
@RoahmMythril nope, that's the quick boomerang.
unless, of course, you're talking about the pause glitch with the blades.
Thank you for the backup, but the argument was long in the past, so we're over it now ;)
Lol every time he controls something he looks like he's struggling to escape and when he is defeated and is begging for mercy he looks like he's bowing down in gratitude.
I sorta figured what his weakness was, and the trouble with the footholder room. The problem that I have is dodging the blobs of Yellow Devil.
@RoahmMythril actually, I think 1 bar of energy is only 4 metal blades.
are you gonna do the re visited stages from MM3? just asking
Your skill is _very_ impressive. But, in my case, your amusing commentary is as much the real show. And you're able to (sorta) repeat yourself after 63 attempts or whatever? That's amazing.
@RoahmMythril
Uh...Late response I know, but your memory serves wrong. It's 4 blades, allowing you 112 shots not counting recharges before you run out.
@RoahmMythril ...Actually, as far as I know, if you're hit by Mecha Dragon as he's teleporting down, it is an instant twenty-eight damage.
@levelmaster2 Not sure about that with the Dragon. Maybe I'll load up and jump into the dragon on purpose to see. lol
The Alien though does 20 points of damage on contact damage. Rock has 28 HP so, it might not be instant kill, but its pretty damaging. It might be instant kill in the Genesis version, though, but I've always played the NES.
Oh and very nice job on this Roahm~
Then, how about a question?
How would you take on the first Wily stage in MM1? Atleast, without dying?
I almost ripped my hair out because of the Alien. I was trying to do it in a state of "Two hits and Boom."
I think it's supposed to represent both the weapons -and- the seasons.
Rock on!
for doing all of that.. I say thank you
Indeed, that looks quite entrancingly shiny X)
I didnt know anything other than bubble lead heals him
@RoahmMythril actually, it's impact damage is a 1 hit kill. I found this out the hard way :(
Impact is actually only 20 HP of damage. Out of 28.
Alien Dr. Wily... I never got too far in megaman 2, I just didn't have the completionist attitude when I was younger.
I've only got one comment, Wily will move infinitely an infinite number of times. Which is partially why we have megaman 9. Wily be fight you infinitely.
Dont you just love the ending song? Pretty nice.
7:09 - 7:15 The Metal Blades were having no cost to fire, at all? o:
The X files Song Is really come from japan artist called kitaro.Still in my country's TV they use Kitaro song a lot too.In Buddha ,social help TVprogram or other thing like that.
he is my fav one. dont want you to miss credit it.
My wife and I just got through watching the entire X-Files series. :-D
@RoahmMythril Actually, it turns out that if you jump on the mecha dragon, it is an instant kill.
If you try to use any other weapon on Alien Wily, he recharges all of his energy. Another reason for using the Bubble Lead!
I'm still wondering if that dripping thing in this stage is what Slash Man uses?
They actually damage you, so no.
Metal Blades are notoriously broken. Each unit of energy in the meter for that weapon is, if memory serves, six blades.
Actually, as another viewer pointed out, each unit of energy is 4 blades. Still too much, though.
Way too much. That and half of the Robot Masters taking considerable damage from Metal Blades. And both Wily forms...
@RoahmMythril
From the rumors I've heard (just rumors) the head of the dragon is instant kill but I've never seen this and the Alien was post to be instant kill just by touching it but haven't seen it myself.
I Remember how long it took to figure to use to bubble lead
IIRC, MM8 was also the one where Light called Wily "Doctuh Wahwy", so um, yeah. And planes have fins, but they aren't fish. So your argument is invalid.
Oh my GODS, he's an alien!
@RoahmMythril My apologies, I didn't check the dates closely enough, I thought this was posted only a couple of months ago. Oh well, cheers anyway, I only stumbled upon these videos recently, keep up the good work.
*replied to PM*
XDXDXD It's all good, man. There was a bit of psychology involved in my reply.
I wasn't offended at all... I'm making sure YOU'RE ok.
Well...there are usually exceptions to certain challenges. You just cant avoid it sometimes. :)
I could still kinda here traces of your old unsure quiet voice in this
lol not only that but they are suposed to be harder in the revisited stages
I thought you were gonna show what metal man's own weapon does to him, but i guess most people know that already by now.
Everybody know that aliens are weak to Bubble Lead because aliens can't swim.
Just beat this level yesterday
@prinnyzawa
Hey, it was a homage, not a rip-off. Don't get the two confused.
Hirofumi Mizoguchi..
Yeah, I don't wanna meet the guy that has anything to do with the creation of Quick Man.
Fish Man = Bass
I don't see why you apologised for the ending of this video.
A. He has fins. TOTALLY a fish.
B. They pronounce it 'Bass' in Mega Man 8.
C. This is a JOKE. Do you know what a joke is, children?
Thank you ;)
now that i see it the ARE weird names in the credits.
@RoahmMythril Massive damage eh?.................I bet megaman's worst weakness of all is....
1: spikes
2: Aliens
Lets hope there isn't alien man and if there is...I hope it doesn't does more damage than before.
And lava
lmao x files music!
OH NO AN ALIEN WHERES THE PREDATOR WHEN YOU NEED HIM!!!!!
Um, 4 blades actually.
not the same for the i pod touch version
Fish Man in Credits, but no Fishman in Megaman XD
He's referring to me. For making an example of my post, he's lost a viewer.
That’s a laugh.
@@57yearoldjamesbond I love Roahm. lol I've long since apologized to him.
Yeah, I know. I just like replying to old comments.
@@57yearoldjamesbond /heart/
@@MartenFerret Wait does he know that you apologized, I hope he did.
in the game Scott pilgrim vs the world the final boss rips off this stage lave drips and the alien parts
(In RE: Yellow Devil post)
For the life of me, I don't know why that didn't thread, there.
MM3 revisited stages *require* Rush Jet/Coil. So it's unlikely to Buster-Only those, if not impossible.
Still, you think QuickMan's a bitch now, "Doc QuickMan" (being big as a house!) is gonna drive you NUTS.
4 blades.
The stars look far too much like his bullets...
@RoahmMythril Mecha Dragon can indeed one-shot you. Happened to me several times.
ok now on diffucult
diego killua He was on difficult.
btw, if you like resident evil at all check out my stuff. Im looking for challenge ideas because I think everyone else has already done all the play throughs and stuff
Ha this was difficult
