10 thumbs up for wearing your riding gear. As a 71 year old rider who has been riding from the age of 14 your safety gear is your best friend. Love your video's. 👍
Robert Megonigal Bit younger than you at 69, and know you are so right. Been riding since age 16, still riding, and my wife and I always kit up properly.
Just sIme freindly advice man. My son has a '79 KZ 750 bobber he built, and he had the same tiny l.e.d.s you have now. He got clipped by a car and he went niplle surfing on blacktop! Hey bro you do some amazing work on older hondas. I love it. You have inspired me so much it's insane. Plus like watching videos of other old bikes like the kz! But love my old CB's. I'm working on buying a older cb to build now. I love them.. keep up the amazing work and builds. You do amazing work. I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you again!!
Thanks for this, I've just purchased a Zephyr 750 with the intent of turning it into a scrambler. I just love the shape of the Kawasaki and im also partial due to it being my first bike back in the 90's. Just looking for someone to do some of the modifications now.
I agree with you Taylor, my top engine choice is a twin, preferably a 360 degree firing order like your KZ750 and Triumph 750 (which have one of, like yours '73 OIF). Also partial to V-Twins so also have a '81Yamaha XV1000 and the old Honda CX500. The reason is I love twins is their flat 'blat' exhaust note, absolutely exemplified on your two into one on the KZ and their good mid-range torque. Cheers, Keep safe and well mate and thanks for your videos, I love them. Cant wait to see the Triumph come to life again, with the dinged up piston an'all.
I've got a '75 Kawi Z1b 900 cafe, that my son and I are doing a frame off rebuikd with a 1075 big bore kit. Pinned and welded crank, port and polish the head, full chrlme kit, Kerker 4 into one, oil cooler, oil pressure gauge, Dyna 200 electronic ignition, Harley chrome Invader 8 spoke rims, vintage shock relocation kit which sweeps the rear shicks back 4 inches allowing me to lower the stance and retain the rear fender. I've owned it over 20 years, and the only change is the big bore kit. I also picked uo a set of Mikuni 33mm smoothbore carbs off of a drag bike at the Garor Nationals years ago. I can't wait either!!!
Outstanding job on the Twin, I had the same bike in kawi red back in the day, along with my yamerhammer seca 650 I would say "the most dependable, capable motorcycle Ive owned" approx. 30♥️
Hey bud. You could try putting a shroud/reflector behind the front indiactors. Like a small piece of stainless/alu, in a rounded off triangle shape, and curved to the diameter of the indicator body.
Peter Greenshields seems like that build didn’t go as expected. The piston was toast, and the cylinders needed to be more than honed out. That doesn’t even consider the damage done to the lower end or the trans. I’m betting we won’t see that bike again.
For the front turn signals what u can do is, take 2 LED strips and wrap them around each shocker rods and wire them. That will b a 360 degree visible turn signal and will look awesome.
Do yourself and other car drivers a big favor and get rid of the tiny lights. You want to have people driving cars see you and your turn signals. Larger LEDs makes you and your intentions much more visible. Take it from me, you need to be visible. I was rear ended on my motorcycle and the other party said that he didn't see my brake light or turn signal. I don't know about that. I think that he was on his phone but I can not prove it. I have switched all of my lights over to LEDs. I kept the turn signals at the 2 inch diameter. Overall, these lights are much more visible. Stay safe on the road.
After I was rear-ended just slowing down to turn right (with indicator on), I switched to this: admorelighting.com/product/admore-light-bar-smart-brake-technology-deceleration-safety/ It's ugly, but riding buddies say it's aggressively bright. I left my indicators functional as well just to double up.
Hello My favourite built of yours ;) CB550 are nice, but the roar of 500cc+ engine: priceless :) After I finish with my street SR250 I am hoping to get Yamaha XS650 or KZ750 as my new project. Awsome bike.my first motorcycle back in the late eighties. People always look at me like I'm an idiot when I say KZ750 TWIN! Then they argue,Nope the kz was a four cyl. I miss that bike. It t-boned a car in Portland after I sold it.....sad.
hey man i would recommend the motogadget bullet leds . super bright and have like a wedge in the glass the gives the shine a direction as well as 360 shine . dont know if i explained that well enough.
When you are holding a steady throttle, it sounds like it might be a bit lean. You might want to try raising the needle valves one notch each to see if it smooths out.
I like your bike . Finally saw it's a'78 . I have a 1980 KX 750 E1 . I'm thinking about LED'S and was wondering about needing relay's because the battery and alternator may not keep up . Has this been a problem for you ?
Glad to see you're still up and riding. Looking forward to Camaro updates. I want to get inspiration to work on mine here in a couple weeks. What spring rate did you go with up front?
Hi Tayler, Thanks for another great video! I have a 79 Kz400 twin I love! One quick question. What brand are those riding gloves? They look really cool! Thanks
That poor starter motor. Lol. Bike must be slightly lean if it’s that hard to cold start. I’d recommend richening it up. Gorgeous bike though. Loved watching the whole build.
I'm working through my own kz750 project and really enjoy your content. Maybe you could help me with a question..... Regarding what I think are float bowl vent tube on the carbs. I can't find any information in the factory manual. Do these hoses run carb to carb or do they just vent ? I'm trying to get the bike started for the first time. Lots of spark and 145lbs Compression . Carbs have been cleaned. Should have a runner but so far just lots of backfires lol. Any help would be appreciated!
Great content mate, keep it up. Love the KZ750 build you did, my favourite so far. Would love to see the exhaust wrapped without that black heat shield on.
I have a 1980 Honda XL100..the wiring is a nightmare..it's a 6v system. I have attempted to fit led lights before and can never seem to get them to work properly..I know on the turn signals you need the suitable flasher unit. Tried that and they don't flash. Even with regular bulbs all round sometimes they work some times not...it's a nightmare!
Hi i got a Kawasaki Z650 year 1977 and I just got a Honda CB500. I just want your opinion if you going to choose one bike which will you choose and why?
I can’t seem to find the video where Taylor tackled the paint on the tank. I have a tank that really needs some love and correction and I’d like to watch that video again. Can anyone point me in the direction of that video?? Thanks!
Hey man, love the videos keep up the good work! I’m working on a XS650 scrambler and I’m trying to get a brushed aluminum or bare metal look going.. do you have any recommendations on how to best do that? I put a scotch brite pad on a grinder and that did a pretty good job but it’s a PITA to do. Thanks dude 👊🏻
After listening to that bike run, it sounds like you need to do some more work on the carbs. It sounds like it drops a cylinder at idle and is a bit rough when you are going through the gearing at part throttle. Something is not right with the fueling....
Hi Taylor. I always look forward to your videos!! You were the one that inspired me to build my first KZ750B twin...... well chopper..lol I am a chemical engineer however I am working on a better permanent magnet alternator system for XS650's as well as KZ750 B twins. I suppose answer me here and I will get back to you very quickly. Thank you.
Thanks for your work it is a pleasure to watch and very informative. As I am a very green hand at this. I understood that LEDs needed a regulator that cut off the top end of the voltage if a relay will do the job then great
Pull the cable off and spray cable lube down it and move the cable back and forth until it drips out the other side. I have a special tool that's supposed to help but honestly I don't even use it.
