Tilt window air conditioner to drain water outside

  • If window air conditioner is not tilted far enough outside, water can back up and flood the inside. In that case, unplug drain hole and let the water drain and pour out. This correct angle is about 3.6° on a 6,000 BTU LG.

cablebrain yes he said we didn’t have to that they was already made for a window to just put it in the window....I’ll let ya no how this works for me by this time Tom. Cause I just put ours in an exact size window as the a/c....Lets hope it cools this residence off!! Today showed 32oC radio says 39 with humidity....cooler outside than in but in evenings we got very hungry mosquitoe s that come in at dusk. Got my fingers crossed sitting out getting bit to hot hopein ac will cool it off for sleeping...NewBrunswick Canada 🇨🇦

@@kawliga41 Then why have a video titled, "Tilt window air conditioner to drain water outside
" if there is nothing to do about it anyway? It should have been titled, "Don't tilt your air conditioner backwards, or your water won't drain properly."

@@kawliga41 Be sure that the air conditioner is set to recycle the air that is in the house, not set to bring in fresh air. I don't know if that helps at all.

Thank you for your video. You are the only individual who put up a video like this, which is exactly what I needed. I did read in my GE air conditioner, manual where it does say place it in the window level, or with a slight tilt, which is basically what you said, I felt it needed a slight more tilt so I cut the wood to shave Hope everything goes fine. Thanks for your video deeply. Appreciate it.

I noticed that if I further tilt the ac unit - it will prematurely fail - vs installing level. Most ac units come with those flap attachments that go in window seam. So like this video states, most manufacturers build units with tilt already installed - just install level where flaps fit in window seam. Usually after about 3 or 4 years the ac units will eventually start leaking inside, this due to algae buildup - turn off and clean back with hose. But usually after about 3 to 5 years it just time to get a new one because after a while they just go bad or don't cool as well. Replacing a 5000 BTU Unit for $130 bucks still cheaper than calling an ac repair man.

If you've already tilted it slightly towards the outside, have you inspected it for mold? Use a flashlight and check it out. Else you might wanna remove drain plug to let water in the back out. Good luck & report back how it goes.
