    ...hell yeah new video.👍 👏🎉🎯💯❗... went a bit tid 🤪 with Pool Noodle and I liked it. Very clever with mounting the GPU and cable management. ... can't you solder a PC power switch. 👏🎉👏🎉 Great video.

      Just the tiniest on tidbits! And that might be possible, got a couple things to try out. Soldering would probably have to be a last resort, since I've never done it before. And me with a soldering iron, just... so much potential for damage. Unless I can solder with a light stick. Then it's going to be perfection right off the bat.

      ... indeed. I'm not good at it either. I usually avoid having to do it too. ... seems there's a bit tid of skill involved.

    A bigger challenge would be doing the same thing with the Optiplex 755, since it's a BTX form factor, meaning both the case and motherboard are mostly incompatible with modern PC parts or require some fanagling to work.

    I'm hiding in a backroom at work so I can watch this new video. I like your solution to get a 1080Ti working in a machine that it shouldn't, especially since the GPU pairs well with the CPU. As a bonus I'm learning proper form for my pool noodle attack.

    Hey bro, my boy Dump just put me onto this video because we do this type of stuff all the time. Cool video. Can I ask for some details on that PSU breakout board? I have several of these server style power supplies from network hw and these could be super helpful to me. Also subbed.

    • @LowcastleTech
      @LowcastleTech  7 месяцев назад +1

      Awesome, I appreciate it! This kind of breakout board is typically used for mining. But I just use mine for projects and experiments. They often have several 6pin ATX out (on the board) which are used to power GPUs through 6pin ATX to 6+2pin PCIe cables. For mining purposes, they would run many GPUs at once. I got mine a while ago, along with about 5 cables (6pin ATX to 6+2PCIe) for ten dollars. You can still sometimes find them for around that price on eBay, though mining is starting to jump back up, so I haven't been seeing quite as many options lately. There are a few different types, but this one I have seems to be the most common, with multiple 6pin out connectors. Hope that helps!

  • @shephusted2714

    linus downgraded everybody to like 16gb - these machines will run with 64gb but the cases and ps are junk, generally hp is good kit and there are some good deals out there if you burn the midnite ebay addiction oil - kind of like making a poor man's lite stik in hopes of overthrowing the high council's chairdesk - to really bump up the volume on your own personal jesus techvest people may want to ditch the ps and case entirely - swap the case for something roomy and get a 24 to 6 ps adapter which ae on ebay for like 10 bucks. Then you can add more drives to hold almost the entire internet, more ease of use and no ps shenanigans but overall older hp kit is very reliable and capable - with an i7, a decent gpu and 32 or 64 gb of ramyou can play a wide variety of games and have a very capable ws or server that won't break the bank. things i would like to see n a followup would be - ps and case mods as mentioned, more ram, power usage stats and adding a 2.5gbe or a 10gbe and adding more drives - making it a file server/nas as an option and also nvme options - all these things would serve to bring the older hp up to speed and enhance its 'craziness' quotient further pushing the limits of techvest and chairdesk dominance into the future

    Personally, I would solder some wires to the breakout board and either tie it in to the current power supply or to a button mounted through the case

  • @jeroenvaneekeres9339
    @jeroenvaneekeres9339 7 месяцев назад

    There is a mains detection port on the psu breakout board. I think if you connect a sata or molex power connector (through an adapter cable) to it the psu should power up when the pc powers up.
