@@textman09 eeeehhhhh not really. I’ve walked into a few dealerships and no one comes to speak. Then when one guy eventually does, one of the first things they try and slip into conversation is “So,what do you do?” to see if it’s worth pushing the sales pitch. I get it, they get a lot of tyre kickers and day dreamers but a small amount of interest goes a long way. One that sticks in my mind is when I went to a local Mercedes dealership. No one took any notice of me apart from a young salesman. I was looking to trade my mk7 Golf R in for an A45 AMG. We talked numbers, the guy went and talked to the sales manager. He came back and said his sales manager didn’t think it was the car for me. It was quite funny to be fair, I said cool no problem thanks for your time. The funniest part was when three or four weeks later that very manager emailed me asking if I was still interested in an A45…I replied, no, not now, as I recently traded the Golf in for an RS3.

Dave, you sure are a great role model for anyone getting into the trades! Not many people can afford that kinda car…and here’s a mechanic buying TWO sweet cars!!
That’s not true. They will sell you a Roma or SF90, basically the entry level. I don’t know the story on 296, a friend has a 296GTS but that’s not his 1st Ferrari. They don’t sell the V12’s to newbs only because they are all presold and they prioritize prior ownership. If for some reason a V12 were to come available due to the original ordering buyer backing out, they will go to their list and sometimes prior owners to see if they want to trade up. If you only want a new V12 and you’ve never owned a Ferrari, they will put you on the list but your position will constantly be bumped by any previous owner ordering a car. It’s their policy, it’s been that way for years and years. My first Ferrari was a new 355, I ordered a newly announced 550 Maranello that same day. 2 years later I traded in my 355 when my Maranello arrived, exactly as I had ordered. I’ve also owned a Superamerica and 599SA. The last Ferrari I ordered was an F12TdF, which I ordered for a friend who wanted one but had no history so they wouldn’t take his order. The limited edition models always sellout within a day of order window and only to Ferrari owners. In that case, even though vehicle was being registered in friends name they actually required the wire from my bank, not his. I realize there’s a lot of animosity toward Ferrari sales practices but they are very transparent and the gross production is so low, especially relative to demand, that it’s understandable. It would be one thing if they hid their sales practices but being so transparent, I’ve got no problem with it.
As mentioned Ferrari doesn’t necessarily not want to sell new owners the higher end models, they just prioritize existing customers, even at the dealership level. I had a friend who worked at Miller Ferrari in Greenwich and her job was to basically just take existing customers out to dinner and what not (nothing illicit! But she was very easy on the eyes…). It was all about keeping customers coming back for more. There was a lot of money to be made doing this at the dealership level.

Ferrari ? What’s up with the philosophy at Ferrari ? Jay Leno tells a story about wanting to purchase a new Ferrari but he was told he HAD to buy 2 ‘lesser’ Ferraris in order to be ALLOWED to buy the new one he wanted. I recently went through this for my two door car and just kept going back to Porsche. The 911's hold their value more than any MB and as well as the McLaren. If you are buying this type of car, always order the car and get exactly what you like. I ordered my 911 10 months before it showed up.
Completely off topic here. But I'm hoping to get an answer anyway... I'm dealing with a knock from the bottom end. 5.7 hemi with 120k on the engine, all oil changes done at the right intervals, except maybe twice. Knocks at startup, then goes away quickly. Put into reverse and it knocks, drop into neutral no knock, into drive it knocks. It's not a cracked flexplate like I was hoping. No misfire codes, idles smooth, clean oil (no glitter), not getting any obd codes pertaining to engine malfunction. I was told it was a crank bearings but without any other symptoms except noise is hard to believe. Can it be spun crank bearings and no other symptoms? Or might I be lucky enough that it's the TC?
Can't wait to see you post your test drive video when you come up to Cache Valley! Ha. Too bad on the Maclaren but man driving it didn't look like a bad day.

What is the residual buyback? You may do better just buying the car out of the lease. The reason I say that I did that with the 2019 mbz. we had a three-year deal and the residual buyback was $10-$15,000 under retail value. it was a no-brainer now we own the car and we know what we have. Just a thought.
Mercedes and BMW you don't keep past 5 years, as something will break. In the 3 year range they still hold a lot of value, so trade in is a better option.

Who else noticed this: He is a mechanic. He knows what cars suck, and which ones don’t. He also knows which ones to stay away from. But yet, after all of this, he still chooses European brands to drive. Why? Why not an American muscle car or an Asian reliable car? The answer is PERFORMANCE! Performance in every aspect. I don’t even own clothes nice enough to walk into those dealerships 🤣 I’ll stick to building my own carbureted American muscle cars 👍
The Ferrari salesman didn't even tuck in his shirt. You'd be fine.
Congrats 🎉. Fantastic choice well done Dave.😍🙃🙂🥰
Thank you kindly
Great video ! Just Make Sure You are Very Happy and Getting What You Really Want ! Remember - This Late Life it's ALL about Being Super Happy with that ONE THING in Your Life that DOES IT FOR YOU ! For Me - it's the Ocean !

My Mom Just turned 84. Last year She will probably be able to drive !!! Macular degeneration. Can't see out of one eye Very well. WON'T BE ABLE TO PASS HER EYE EXAM !!! to Drive any more !
Only Uber - from Now on -Next year !
No More Car For Her anymore. Driving sounds like your thing. Make Sure you've done all the driving you want to in the Next 10 years ! Eyes only Last so Long - to Keep your Drivers Licence.
No Regrets !!!
you can still order E63s (2023) supposedly. a few in inventory around the country.
i really liked that GT, until i saw that those gear selector and turn signal stalks are the same ones as in my vito.
Congrats on the 500k well deserved.
I can't believe we've gone to watching Dave super car shopping now! 😂😂 love it lol
Get the Maclaren, skip the warranty and do a series on upgrading it in your shop.
I sure hope you have a good lease agreement on that Merc. I wouldn't want to be risking the repair bills on that.
Lot to be said for having the dealer local to you. Of course you are a shop and can repair your own stuff, but nice to have a local parts counter because mclaren parts can be exclusive in some cases and hard to source outside the dealer.
Dave, I have two Vipers and drive an S63. I don’t think it’s an old man car lol. I hear ya with the size but it’s kinda dope. Also, I saw that exact Blue GT down in SLC, it’s a stunning car.
I love how as more people in the dealership realise who you are, they start sending more senior people down to schmooze... gotta love it!
Hi Dave, Jamie from Australia, go the Benz, or if your looking for a E-Class Sedan size car, have a look at the BMW M5 Competition, it has the V8 and are not bad either. Keep up the videos love the channel, cheers from Australia 🇭🇲🤝
Hello Australia ! Thanks for the advice 👍
$700,000 for a Ferrari? I haven’t look at MotorTrend for years
That Ferrari dealer looked like he just woke up
I recently went through this for my two door car and just kept going back to Porsche. The 911's hold their value more than any MB and as well as the McLaren. If you are buying this type of car, always order the car and get exactly what you like. I ordered my 911 10 months before it showed up.
The new CLE’s are very nice too. Big E coupe..
That coupes GOOODLOOOKIN !!😎👍🏻🇺🇸🦅🇩🇪
You tell them Dave! MB needs to make what the customer wants not what the government wants.
Can't wait to see you post your test drive video when you come up to Cache Valley! Ha. Too bad on the Maclaren but man driving it didn't look like a bad day.
No problem! Here's the information about the Mercedes CLR GTR:

Its limited production run of just five units adds to its rarity, making it highly sought after by racing enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. 🌎
I live in the UK, mclaren has a BAD reputation here for poor customer service and bad reliability. Generally cars made in the UK are not reliable! German/japanese is where its at!
mclaren is so beautiful though
What model have you had issues with 🤔
@@oneeleven9832 you dont need to own something to know its reputation... just search mclaren customer service UK here amd theres tonnes of videos from dissapointed customers. Do some research before making sarcastic remarks. Ive also owned better cars and bikes than you have anyway 🤷♂️😂
The demand must be crazy for the new cars (or they are keeping it artificially up).
My buddy ordered, and specced, the new v12 lambo almost a year ago and it’s still something like 2 years out. But they did call him to increase his deposit at least once, ha.
Same with his g63 though, that took at least 3 years, but that was a whole thing.
Would love to see a ownership review of the e63s 💪🏼 +davesautocenter
Dave I'm new to your channel. Didn't know much about you but I didn't figure you as a Merc Man. I like your style.
Congrats on the new merc !
Honestly great choice with the GT63 those things are nice!!!
that coupe looked like a dream.
Dave .Hi love your RUclips channel.
Have you looked into August motors In Canada. Where DDE always buys super cars. 🚘
All the best form Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘😎👍
0:25 "They didn't make the E63 that I like..." man made me believe in humanity, again. That E63 without a V8, not good.
unlucky he is talking crap right there, the E63 still got its V8, what he refferes to is the C63...
@@Tranlock you are actually on the money. Thought C and E get a similar drivetrain. Thanks for the correction.
@@siphesihlemagagula1709 I'm more astonished that none of the salesman actually corrected Dave about his "mistake". The C63 is actually the ONLY "63 model" which doesn't have a V8 (..YET, cause they Coupe might come with a V8 in late 2025 due to the low selling numbers on the sedan and wagon so far)
You already know about staying away from complexity.
Connect with the Ferrari store and buy a NA car.
Seems like your shopping experience is based around something gorgeous, that makes power
Us broke, overworked folks love watching people with tons of money, not.
Bro there’s a reason he’s leasing. I wouldn’t call Dave a tycoon lol, most of it probably goes towards paying off his business loans, employees, ect.
Dave, dont buy a Mercedes because people think you've an Uber driver and they are common as muck. The brand has been diluted to serve he minicab market. Ferrari are a joke. The sales, the reliability and the sheer arrogance of the company beggers belief. Get the Mclaren - so different, so fast that Ferrari can only ever hope and so clever. Its refreshing to see a company like Mclaren exist 😌 ✨️
I like this guy even more knowing he’s an AMG fan.
Tgat GT was by far the nicest car out of all you have looked at..... great choice
The current GT coupe is nothing on the previous generation.... The last GT coupe was 2 seater, RWD, no electrification and had a wider beautiful rear end.... Buy a used low mileage GT-R Black series
The speed bumps in Canada are killers to sportscars. My brother-in-law had to move to another city to drive his sportscar collection.
Dave, are you going to BUY or LEASE since your current one is a lease?
Why do you lease instead of buy, never done it before so I am curious.
Lease. The government gives business owners a fairly good reason to lease
At first, I was surprised to find you as a Mercedes guy, but after thinking about it for a little bit, I guess I’m not too surprised
classy man having the wife in the e63, the e63 has always been my favorite especially the 2014 gen
Happy car shopping Mr’s Dave.
In the 3 year range they still hold a lot of value, so trade in is a better option.
sounds like he wants something new again though
@@Scottish_Viking84Only if Dave knew how to fix cars
@@Scottish_Viking84 depends, i just sold a pretty nice 20 year old BMW that was running a driving well with 240k miles. Also just sold a 15 year old E class and we still have a 10 year old C class. All were/are very solid cars.
Dave chooses a Benz because he can service it himself unlike a mclaren
Who else noticed this:
He is a mechanic. He knows what cars suck, and which ones don’t. He also knows which ones to stay away from. But yet, after all of this, he still chooses European brands to drive. Why? Why not an American muscle car or an Asian reliable car? The answer is PERFORMANCE! Performance in every aspect. You simply will not get the same kind of feeling driving an Asian or American made vehicle, than you do in a Europe vehicle. Even this mechanic knows that!
Dave. What Do you think of Porsche Cayenne V8 ?
