  • This is... not a how to.
    In fact I'm not sure I recommend this.
    I had a ton of fun and learned a lot, to be sure.
    Months later after filming this the laptop is fine, great really, but the paint is... well just be sure to paint another surface to get an idea of what it will feel like.
    Basically I forgot to/didn't know to finish it, so some sorta final coat shoulda been done. Instead it gets visible scratches pretty easily, which is fine with me because it looks cool but you might not like or expect that so be warned lmao
    Anyway - it worked! Yeet. Thanks for watching :^)
    NOTE ABOUT EDITING: I didn't edit this one! Looking for a long term editor, so let me know what you think or if you're interested in helping.

    If I painted my thinkpad too, I would've used the same technique as you did. I like the fact that you didn't disassemble your laptop to get it painted.

    You always want to spray paint items in a vertical position whenever possible, not laying down. That way the paint sprays more fluidly w/o spurts of inconsistent air flow. You also should have used the tip of the razor blade to pull up the tape after painting instead of your fingernail.

    I'd really like to do something like this to my ThinkPad X220, but that thing is also my baby and I love it more than life itself.
    But black and yellow would look great.

    You know what... that's not terrible. I'm thinking of doing the opposite however, purchasing a pink one and painting it black.

    I don't think it's that bad. I'd try it and shine it a little bit just so that's it's not too rough looking. But overall, mission accomplished. ♥️

    What type of paint do you use? Is Acrylic or Lacquer Paint safe? A lot of websites suggest I use Acrylic paint but most spray paint bottles give’s flammable warnings, and a lot of websites say that it will become combustible once it dries, has it effected the temperature in anyway? What if its just a bit of paint?

    • @rabbirt
      @rabbirt  Год назад +2

      No temp difference! That was def something I was thinking about, temp and weight but:
      I've now done another layer since this was posted of chalk-safe paint (so I can write on my lid):
      Basically go for it! It won't be factory neat but if you tape things off you're unlikely to cause any harm.
      2-3 years strong on this thing, used in the airport for work last night :')
