    Leaf blowers! Lol. Me too! I definitely tend to lean towards RPE and know that my riding workouts are tough enough and varied enough (addressing most all needs) to be competitive on race day.

    RPE should not be forgotten. I'm just a casual cyclist, but have been riding w/ power for 12 years now. Heart rate for well before that. I still listen to the feel of RPE. There's been several local (not-officially-a-race) time trials where I have gone out, and even in warmup, the RPE tells me hell no. Give it a try and yep. not today. But I've also had the opposite. Numbers are where i would expect for 15 (or 25, or 70) minute effort, but damn... I feel like there's more, so I give it more, and get it!

    These days there's a lot of pro riders who train based on power in combination with rpe. When you feel good on an endurance ride, you can ride longer and when you feel good doing your intervals, it's okay to up the power...
