    Specificity is absolutely a principle that requires a training application. Generating 500, 600, or 1,000 watts at the end of a four hour race is much different than doing it in the first 30 minutes.

    This is not standard training advice... Typically you want to do your hardest intervals when you are freshest so that you get the greatest training stimulus. For VO2 max, for example, the stimulus is being AT VO2 max. If you do these intervals fatigued, you won't be AT VO2max for the same duration, ergo lower training stimulus. Just because a situation appears in racing doesn't mean that replicating this situation during training is the best way to get better at it

    • @EVOQBIKE
      @EVOQBIKE 9 дней назад

      definitely not ALL intervals, but some

    • @slowcyclist4324
      @slowcyclist4324 9 дней назад

      There is a difference. You do high intensity b4 endurance because you wish to maximise training effort for FTP gains. You do the reverse in the case for specificity training in race situations. There is nothing that says you can’t have a varied training methodology depending on your training goals.

    Sometimes there is pain from getting into shape too quickly after the age of thirty, when the metabolism is slower and the person is determined to get stronger quickly, he develops all kinds of tendon and fascial strains. In order to avoid this, you should start slowly and safely and only after a year of easy rides start to extend the rides and introduce low torque training.

    In my non-professional opinion, as an amateur rider and professional plasterer for quite a few years, I think we are built to protect our weak parts and not just save energy. Let's say when I straighten a wall I try to work in as straight movements as possible because twisting movements under load cause immediate pain. Likewise when I do fitness, I work on strengthening movements that I use the most and less strengthening twisting movements with the exception of abdominal muscles. Certain movements cause pressure on the spine and the spine itself is not used to it, so although you don't immediately feel pain, but a feeling that if I do it - I will explode. So the movements I recommend doing is first of all light running and jumping rope, then twisting - many repetitions and without weight, and only when you are really used to adding a little weight. And, dear riders, when was the last time your back touched the ground? Most of us spend a lot of time lying on the couch in front of the screen and some of us sit at work for many hours. We need to roll on the grass, run and jump today so we can do it with the grandchildren as well.

    Maybe I don't understand properly. Do I understand it right that I should aim for 20min of 85-90% max HR during the intervals? When I do 4x4@110% FTP, I reach 96% of HR at the end of the 3rd interval. The 4th interval is not fun then... Does this mean I should lower intensitiy so that I don't reach >90% max HR so often/long?

    • @EVOQBIKE
      @EVOQBIKE 19 дней назад

    Interesting that you would think something simple to just go and ride a bike and apparently all these lunatics complicated it to unknown measure. I just wanted to figure out how the hell do I get in shape? What’s my zone I need to keep that as far as my heart rate, But apparently that’s something no video I’ve seen on RUclips even mention it’s all complicated jargon

    • @EVOQBIKE

      you nailed it: just go ride your bike to get in shape! stick to 60-70% HR Max for most rides...a chattable pace. you might see these videos as lunacy, but it's our passion for performance, where details matter. If you get more into cycling, they might be more applicable down the road. If not, no need to knock them just because it's not for you! Good luck with the training.
