I once knew a man whom I seen in the powwow circuit who dressed similar to this. It's truly an amazing piece of American history. Again, a very wonderful presentation.
Then why mountain men with The Fringe on their clothing is because of water buckskin when it got wet it was hard to dry and with the buckskin Fringe and those long strips hanging down it cooled the outfit better and when they were in camo and deep wooded area it would break up their outline of their shape of that Fringe like the modern day camo flood and when they need something to tie down they just take one of those leather fringes tie whatever they need tied down so that's why they were so many fringes l on their pant legs and their coats to keep a little piece of leather to tie down whatever they need to do and everything it was just mainly for keeping the rain off of them and also it was made to keep them hid from other things it was in the woods and it was frontier camouflage
I hope everyone enjoys this video I plan/hope to do more videos about the western fur trade era soon. Thanks for watching.
