Great video! Love this era and what it entails. These boys look like they have been there and back. We need folks like this to keep the old ways alive. These people are probably the only ones that know what real freedom tastes like nowadays.

Unlike in the 1800's there was no fire bans so the scene with the propane tank had to be used for cooking. Later in the video there was no propane anything. The fires were started with flint and steel in snowy conditions. I know some of these men and I am a member of the AMM. Unlike the modern campers who would likely not last very long in the mountains the Mountain men of the AMM would.
1:58 Breaking up roasted coffee beans. 3:23 When you purchased a rifle, you received a rifle and the bullet mold that went with that rifle. I pour my own bullets for my rifle and smoothbore. Yep, I rendezvous and winter. My main job is a cook. I do enjoy; but I don't use propane, ricklex.

This is cool and all but what about getting medication for things such as high blood pressure and other medical conditions? Are they allowed to take that with them?
Erik Scherder they had “sunglasses” as far back as Mesopotamian times lol. You ever see those stupid look glasses from with no lenses and only those horizontal lines across them? Younger people often do not have the income to afford the costumes, I mean "gear." It's more about romanticism than actual exertions from trapping everyday in the mountains.
The question no one can answer is how did they get black powder when they ran out.. They could substitute rocks for lead, but they must have know how to make powder along the way.. Bat quinoa, charcoal, & horse pee ???? Does anyone know ?
I don't believe they could making black powder is more complicated than grinding up charcoal and mixing some stuff with it .Everything I've found says they had to wait for rendezvous or travel to fort with a trading post . I'm not an expert on making powder so l can't say it's impossible ,but having grown up listening to old story's and what people had to do when things ran out I think its unlikely .
Dude they were weeks traveling west of Missouri for crying out loud. Where were they going to find pure refined saltpeter and sulfer, much less willow charcoal. They were to busy trying to stay alive and trap & trying not to get scalped or freeze to death or starve.
Denis Degamon if they had sense they would have a keg of powder to refill their horns, maybe a couple kegs of gunpowder if it would be over a year or two before they went to a rondy again
