Thanks. Unfortunately you don’t here much about the long hunter. So I really enjoyed learning about the practical aspects of the long hunter. My ancestors arrived in 1610. I’ll be looking forward to learning more from your channel.

Rifles were actually a little less common among the long hunters then you’d think as they were expensive to make, , and thus expensive to buy it was more common to see a hunter with smooth bore weapons such as a trade gun or a Fowler.

@@Alexander-Craig0530 Yes, musket where more common in this period all around. I simply meant to imply as far as civilian or even military of the time longhunter where one of the types of people to be seen carrying a rifel.

You do a great job. A suggestion, once you show, what you need to at distance, move in a bit so you dont have to shout at camera, maybe. I Really enjoy what you are doing here, its interesting. Thank you

Those particular moccasins where gifted to me from a now deceased friend. But I do believe they may have came from Carl Dyer Original Moccasins. You can look them up online.

@@jimmylivhistory7059 Thank you and wow that was a fast response! I found a website that makes traditional moccasins and I think I will buy from them but I will look up Carl Dyer.

Hey Jimmy, iam getting into 18th century native reenacting, are the legging made from simple buckskin, or could you use wool or even duck canvas? Thanks

Hi my leggings in priticular are buckskin but that preference wool leggings where just as common in the 18th century. Canvas whould probably be an acceptable substitute for most renactment events. But Idk of any historical records of it being used as leggings in 18th century.

i dont think it was so much about being whitemen ,as the natives went bare chested when it was warm out and a christian european almost never did that also textiles cloth breats in the summer whereas buckskins dont breath as well.

I agree thats a very fair point, many eastern natives did go without shirts.
