Vergil is a curse in Dante Must Die for this fight, not only you lost Devil Trigger you also lost your style ability for him, and let's put him simply Vergil sucks in this fight his AI is terrible, the worst part is the boss has a move when he grab Dante and kill him slowly you have to hope Vergil will attack to free you, except some the bastard won't free you. Because of this move alone what is consider the best way to deals with this boss (especially if you want an SS Rank) is to keep your distance and slowly kill him with Guns what a fun fight -_-.

  • @welcometovalhalla2884
    @welcometovalhalla2884 5 лет назад +2

Since I can tell you enjoyed the game a lot I have to recommend that you play on the higher difficulties and try to go for high mission ranks. You have to use your full arsenal to get high ranks and it makes the game much more fun that just blasting enemies with the basic Rebellion combo. Which is fun for sure too, but that's mainly due to how good and satisfying the animations are, not because of particularly compelling gameplay. And not only it makes it more fun, it makes it more effective too, since for the first time in the series your best strategy isn't the most boring one. The main combo isn't very damaging and it throws enemies away with the last hit, which forces you to close the gap again (and unless they're against a wall Stinger won't work that well because it also sends them flying on hit). I can also see you're only using Split and your guns in the air, while changing weapons or using Swordmaster could help you stay in the air for much longer. You can MELT bosses like Cerberus (without even knocking him down) or the Heart of Leviathan that way.
All that aside, higher ranks give you tons more of red orbs if you need more motivation than "it's more fun".
As for the higher difficulties, Hard mode is kinda just a NG+ mode with small differences, you can blast through it like NG+ in Dark Souls 3, but Very Hard not only gives enemies more health and damage, it gives them more agression and changes their placements. And in the highest difficulty certain bosses get new moves and regular enemies can now Devil Trigger. Revisiting missions with your full moveset and perhaps a different Style, alongside new enemy placements can make it feel very fresh.

Oh, man. This is one of those games where I'll remember the first time I faced every single boss. This game is so goddamn amazing. I had been waiting for years to get a chance to play it (after watching my older brothers play it when I was a kid), and about a month ago I finally got my opportunity. Anyway, boss time!
Hell Vanguard? Yeah, he's aight. I didn't die to him on my first go, so that was nice.
Cerberus. What a good boy. But when I first faced him, he was a VERY bad boy to me! I think I actually died to him like four times, and finally got him on the fifth round. Then, when I went back to fight him again at a later date, it was like... ridiculously easy. I don't know if something changed, or if I had just progressed that much. Anyway, it's a good fight. ^^
"Gigapede"? Yeah, that's what it's called. I can beat every boss without items now, but I'll admit I used a couple of stars during the worm-thing fight. It was kinda boring. Next.
Agni and Rudra were pain the first few goes. I didn't know they could damage each other, nor did I know how to dodge attacks with finesse. The most I knew was that a jump made you invincible for a couple frames. I must've died to those two six times in total, but I did eventually triumph. Knowing how easy it is to make them damage each other, I don't have as much fun with that fight as I used to... but that's my own fault for not playing as stylishly as I could be. I'll be changing that in the future.
So, my main motivation (yeah, ha-ha) for playing this game was just to fight Vergil. I had no idea what he was like, other than what my memories from as a kid told me: he was damn hard. So that's what I was expecting as I went into the first Vergil battle, and then... it was kinda easy? Like, oddly enough, I struggle with the fight more now than I did when I first fought him. I guess it was just the high of Agni and Rudra affecting me. I was in the zone and I refused to die. I knew what was to come, though, so I wasn't disappointed.
I like how these bosses sometimes fit into entire different genres of combat. The heart of the Leviathan was one abnormal boss. I actually don't remember what happened during this battle. It was difficult for me at the time, I know that - but I don't remember the outcome, or how many times I died (or if I didn't). It was a boring one.
Nevan, though, oh my God. I am embarrassed. See, for some reason I felt like my sword strikes were not connecting with her shelter of bats. So I thought that I had to whittle down her ENTIRE DEFENSE with ONLY MY PISTOLS. That was hell. I wish I knew what I was doing. I think Nevan claimed the most deaths out of me than any other boss, purely because I didn't know how to fight her properly. The other parts of the fight weren't that difficult, either, but fighting her for soooo looong was wearing me down and I fell apart, every time. Nowadays, though, it's no problem. She's a fun one.
Beowulf was pretty difficult for me, too, but I realized a few deaths in that he really wasn't that big of a problem. Like you do with every other boss, I learned his moveset and adjusted accordingly. He did stomp me a good few times, but he's no problem for me now.
I'm sort of baffled by my performance against Geryon, though. I did pretty bad the first couple of times. Although in my defense, his attacks are the kind that aren't immediately obvious to a newcomer. They're telegraphed, but you can't guess what he's going to do unless you already know what each warning means. There's a few bosses like that in this game - which is fine, I'm not complaining about it. I like all the fights, really.
The second Vergil fight... I actually played this one early on someone else's save (I was using an actual PS2 and memory card. OG.), and dear Lord, did I love it. It was so much more difficult than the first Vergil fight, and so much more satisfying to watch. At some points, Dante and Vergil look like they're dancing more than fighting. Anyway, although Vergil pummeled the shit out of me the first couple rounds, I did eventually beat him. Now I've played that battle so many times that it's actually kind of a piece of cake, but that's only because I know it so well.
Lady was kind of just annoying. It was a good fight, and it changed up the dynamic that I had gotten used to, but not in the most fun way. That might just be because I set up a false expectation for what the fight should've been, though. It's still a good fight.
But Doppelganger? The only reason I have ever taken damage from this guy is when I get bored of fighting him and try to turn the lights on faster, allowing him to hit me. He's just so boring. At least with the Hell Vanguard and heart of Leviathan, I could move around to wherever I wanted. For Doppelganger, there were a select few strategic positions you could take and actually do anything. It is at least minimally fun, but I can't call it a good boss battle.
Arkham, though? I mean... I don't really like him. As a boss. Well, not as a person or character, either. I like him as he serves the plot, of course, but... I'm getting way off track. Arkham was a very boring boss, and you end up spending more time spamming Kalina Ann at his slug nuggets than you do hitting Arkham himself. The thing that really saves this fight is Vergil coming in for the second half. Vergil Battle 1, 2, and 3 are all great pieces of boss music, and I love them all so much - but Arkham phase 2! That shit is my JAM! So fucking epic, I love it. The buildup, the fast action beat plus the swelling orchestra... the second half of the Arkham fight is the most immersive experience in the game. I can look past how boring the boss is because of the way that music makes me fucking move. And, dear Lord, Dante and Vergil together absolutely shred that tumor-lookin' ass.
Of course, the crowing jewel of boss battles in the game is Vergil 3. This was the moment I had been waiting for, and it was everything I had hoped for. People say that Vergil was really difficult in DT for the second fight with him, but I never really had a problem with it. It's in Vergil 3 where DT becomes a true threat. Unfortunately, I succumbed and decided to use items to beat him the first time, which I regret. It didn't take away too much from the adrenaline-pumped experience, though. However, after I had beaten him for the very first time, I resolved to later go back and beat him without items.
I did that. I was proud of myself. But then I thought, "Eh, I used Beowulf... It'd be a lot cooler if I could beat him without that handicap. Plus it'll align visually with the cinematics."
So I beat him again, without items and using Cerberus instead. Kinda proud of that too. But NOW, I really want to face him on Dante Must Die difficulty. I'm very discouraged about doing that, though, and here's why:
I want to play through the entire game with Super Sparda, because that essentially just makes him his normal self. It's just the pure demon Sparda versus his son, and that sounds really cool to me. He's unlocked by beating the game on Dante Must Die difficulty... but only in the Special Edition. With the original release of the game, I don't have that option available. So I just don;t care as much.
I won't feel like a true master of the game until I've beaten it on Dante Must Die difficulty, with normal Dante and no items, so that is one motivation I have to beat it on DMD. But knowing that I can buy the SE game on Steam or whatever and get an extra reward that's very valuable to me, I'm not very motivated. I swear I'm not saying "motivated" as a dumb reference, it's just the word I'm using.
I will inevitably revisit this game. When I do, it'll be with the special edition of the game, and I will beat it on Dante Must Die. Then I'll have fun with everything else it has to offer, too. I will come back to this novel-length comment one day...

Arkham was a pretty tough fight I won't lie honestly. I had to be super conservative of healing items and not get hit for the second phase of the battle. So, I disagree with that one I do however agree with number one. The Vergil fights are probably my favorite fights in the entire game. Mostly because you're on equal footing, the final fight with him is really great. I didn't had any healing items with me so I just used my devil trigger to heal and do damage. Beating him in the final fight was so satisfying. I much prefer the bosses in this game over the bosses in DMC 2.
While DMC 2 had some creative concepts for the bosses; the execution of the bosses is what turned me off. They were just waaaaaaay too easy and were a joke. The final boss in DMC 2 was actually not bad compared to the rest. Except for the helicopter and tank bosses. They should've been in the cutting room floor to begin with.

@@kindlesstraitor5587 Yeah, but how is it possible to rank Hell VanGuard, who isn't even a boss, and Gigapede over Arkham? I only want to hear that if he beats him without taking damage.

Arkham is a boring slog of a fight. Even if he gets harder on higher difficulties (and he really does, fuck those little slugs) he's incredibly boring to fight. Not to mention that he takes your style and DT away for the second phase. At least I can beat Gigapede in like a minute and be done with it.

    • @FirstPlace97

@@welcometovalhalla2884 Arkham is a good boss. He isn't as powerful as Vergil, but he is a nightmare to SS rank, and he is worthy of the penultimate fight. Not saying he is perfect but he is a great boss.

Arkham is actually one of if not the hardest boss in the game on Dante must die difficulty because in the second phase it's really difficult to dodge his attacks with Vergil in your way and he kills you at Max health with 2 hits, also when those fishy things come you have to just stay back and shoot them or hope that they don't hit you when you attack them because they will kill you in 3-4 hits(even in devil trigger they can kill you very quick)

I think DMC 3 is the best devil may cry game. Like 5 is better for the gameplay but 3 has like 2 bad bosses and a few mediocre ones, but none of the bad or mediocre ones are particularly challenging and the good ones, of which there are many, are really fun and remarkable. Whereas with 5 most of the bosses are fairly uninteresting, with the few good ones being admittedly pretty great.

Fun Fact: if you activate Vergil's Devil Trigger while wearing his corrupt costume, you can pretty much play as Nelo Angelo (even with most of his attacks from his boss fights in DMC 1)

I don't think you mentioned it in the video, but Jester is actually an optional boss and you have the option to fight him three times as you progress through the story. He progressively gets more aggressive and more difficult as a result. Still, he isn't the hardest boss, but he is one of the more colourful, if I may say so.

It has a series of two spins. 80% of the time it knocks their weapons out of their hands.

My personal ranking on normal difficulty:
    13) Dopplerganger - Simply boring to fight. Gimmick boss. Piece of cake. No buildup whatsoever.
    12) Lady - Extremely disappointed with this fight. I love Lady, but the boss fight itself is a running simulator.
    11) Leviathan Heart - While well-designed, the boss fight itself delivers no entertainment value. Very bland.
    10) Gereon - Unfair bullshit boss. In love with his design and the slowdown mechanic is cool *in theory*, but that is as far as my praise for him goes.
    9) Gigapede - Meh. Ok boss. Very annoying when you miss platforms and have to hunt it down. If you don't have air hike, it is a major slog.
    8) Arkham - Don't hate Arkham as much as everyone else. The ambiance is effective and Vergil joining in the latter half is epic af, though I hate losing my midair attacks with B buttom and losing DT. Not a great boss fight, but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be imo.
    7) Hell Vanguard - My ranking for this boss is diminished by the fact that it becomes a regular enemy later in the game. But it's still a good one. Finally a break from the bad to meh bosses.
    6) Cerberus - An excellent starter boss, unquestionably, but its rank is dragged down due to how difficult of a fight it is since you fight it so early and it takes a beating before it dies. Regardless, its mechanics are pretty solid and it is well-designed.
    5) Jester - I only fought the first two iterations, but he isn't a bad
fight. What makes him memorable is his dialogue during the fight and how
he taunts you. Entertaining to see him stop teleporting once you fire
your pistols at him enough. His second phase in the second fight is a
bit puzzling, but I can look past it.
    4) Nevan - The waifu that may have inspired Quelaag of Dark Souls. Her design is incredible and fighting her is quite enjoyable. I like how you can only damage her after you kill the bats. Her moves are easily telegraphed by audio cues, which also is a major bonus. Only thing that sucks is the health drain. It might be *too* punishing.
    3) Beowulf - Epic fight. Much to love. The scenery, the boss design, and the moveset all are something to run home about. The stun from slashing his eye is also great foreshadowing of the following cutscene and a great mechanic to implement. I love how erratic he is, especially when he stomps around. One of the best bosses in the game easily.
    2) Agni and Rudra - An excellent example of a gank fight done properly. You are rewarded for taking the risk of parrying, and it isn't impossible to secure the kill without that strategy. Ton of fun, well-designed, and feels great to emerge victorious. Plus, it is hard not to skip the cutscenes.
    1) Vergil - What really is there to say? You're fighting your brother, your rival. He's fast, challenging, and badass. It is satisfying to watch him evolve and grow desperate in his measures as your strength grows. I get salty when his DT lasts ages in the last fight, but he's still a great boss.
