Market capitalization, sometimes referred to as market cap, is the total value of a publicly traded company's outstanding common shares owned by stockholders.

Microsoft never left the game. But how did Microsoft manage to go up to 3 trillion so fast and surpassed Apple? Like I've literally never heard from them since Windows 11 release.
It’s the AI stuff they’re doing. They’re leading AI technology. VR also. They also have a lot of employees, and of course sales of pcs and laptops with Microsoft integrated in it

Actually, there are 3 trillion, 1 trillion = 1000 billion.
And MS is a major shareholder in Facebook (another high valued organisation- not going to call it a business), and with such a grip on OS and software apps, purchasing major gaming studios to fuel PC and XBox sales.
And yet MS has a cyclical trend, likely hitting valuation highs currently before a downtrend (unless it's AI forces share purchases to occur and keep the share price high...then develop a future prediction machine aka Paycheck)

However, both of them were educated in the United States. The founder of NVIDIA was born in Taiwan, but grew up in the United States.

This video is not good enough. And it's not based on the market cap for each day. We cannot trust these values to 100%. For example, Tesla in late 2022 had lost a lot of its market cap and we cannot see that in this video...

Market cap is not the same thing for how rich a company is.
How rich a company is, is the cash, net cash or net assets. You have to check the balance sheet for that.
Market cap = number of shares x price per share. So if there are 1 trillion shares and I buy ONE of these shares for 3 dollar, the market cap is 3 trillion dollar. That's not the same thing as how rich the company is.
That’s what I’m thinking. Cause I saw another post( it was legit) on how the Saudi oil company made more income than Apple/google/Microsoft/Facebook combined. Their worth isn’t the same as how much they bring in.
Yeah that's why we should look at the value called "Total shareholders' equity": what's left if the company will end operations, then pay all debts and see how much money remains. That's how rich a company really is.

@@ooogabooga4836 no. It's GDP (PPP) for either the country in total or per capita that's most interesting when comparing different countries. And now with the "proxy war in Ukraine" we need to look at Russia's GDP (PPP). And also the fact that the weapon industry is private held in the west and state own/controlled in Russia. This is why Russia with embarrasing low GDP is superior to the entire western world.
And speaking about Apple and how rich it is...
Market cap = 3176 B dollar (aug 6, 2024)
Total shareholders' equity = 66,7 B dollar (end of calendar Q2, 2024)
Apple's....
Total assets = 331,6 B dollar
Total debt/liabilities = 264,9 B dollar
The difference is Total Shareholders' Equity.
But what if Apple will stop buying back own shares and reduce the dividens to increase the Total Shareholders' Equity? This is why you can use P/E. But never forget Total Shareholders' Equity.
Apple's debt = 265 B dollar
USA's debt = 35 000 B dollar :)

Saudi Arabia decreased their oil production. They’re trying to keep the price of oil high by reducing supply. The US is countering by raising our oil production in order to keep oil below $100 a barrel
Check the score again, they’re generating more income than many of these top companies combined.
