Orange rx? Only plane I ever lost due to loss of signal was with an Orange RX. It was sad, I was doing a fly-by and it kept in a nice left bank... but I was trying to pull up! It just kept the bank for several seconds before the ground caught up. I tested the receiver afterwards and it worked ok. Then after several minutes it would act glitchy. If I changed directions the servos would make small jerk movements until it reached what I was TX'ing it to do. There was no pattern for it's intermittent failures. I would never trust a replacement, and it was cheap, so I just threw it away. Never had any problems or signal blockages from Spektrum. Maybe it was just that one rx, but I have heard too many other stories to risk any other of my planes.

I am using the orange rx V2 and have had zero problems. They are in my opinion doing better with the range also.

Agreed most of my rx's are orange one. I love em

Where are you located? I love your location, can imagine how nice it would be to fly there. Too bad about the plane, didn't look too bad from what I could see, was it fixable?

+Tom RC (Liberty Blazing Angels) This field is located in Pittsburg, Ca. No unfortunately there were just too many structure issues that I decided to scrap it. The wing was cracked in so many spots and the landing gear and wing mounts were just destroyed. Build, Fly ,Crash, Repeat

+Dans RC Workbench Too bad, but I know the feeling all to well. lol On my gas planes I use dual rx with a split system, right side to one and left to the second. Dual power switches too, redundancy is the word of the year. Better luck with the next one!

Do yourself a favor buy a Spektrum AR 6210 receiver with a satellite is worth paying a few extra bucks when you have so much invested. By the way that looks like a great place to fly.

Agreed on the Satellites. And after further review I found that there is a flaw in the design of the Spektrum DX6 black edition radio I was using. I say was because I know fly with a DX9 edition of the radio. Since the DX6 has a single antenna pointed out of the top there is a hole in the signal that can occur off the tip. Now in other single antenna systems the antenna can be bent to accommodate this hole and the signal away from direct view of the RX. Since the DX6 new edition has a fixed antenna you are basically pointing a hole at your aircraft in the pilots natural flying position. 3 ways to remedy this. #1 do a little dance with your DX6 to make sure your antenna tips is not pointed at the aircraft #2 add Satellites to your RX (this helps but not perfectly.). #3 buy a radio with dual diversity antennas or at the very least a bendable antenna. Since I love the programming features of the DX6 I opted to purchase a DX9. And I must say I shoulda bought the DX9 from the beginning way better programming features over the DX6

I have the DX7S with the bendable antenna i always have it positioned in the "L" shape. You would be surprised to see how many people fly with a straight antenna the bend is there for a reason. Your flying field looks really nice.

p3arljam26 Thanks for your comments and yes I agree I see people with straight antennas all the time. My rule now is Dual Diversity on the TX and Satellites on the RX on my most favored aircraft. Foamies get the Rx's with not data port LOL

Threw all my orange receivers in the rubbish bin. Too many brown-outs.

orange Rx = boom...they work OK for smaller park flyers, foamy 3D's etc...but would not trust one in anything I didn't want flying into the dirt.

Actually it was determined to be the Spektrum DX6 transmitter as it only has a single diversity antennae. Iv since upgraded to the DX9 and the only signal issues iv ever had have been with Spektrum RX's installed. Out of the 40 Rx's i have 80% of them are orange. I trust Orange RX's over spektrum.

I have a few orange RX's and they work well but have experienced a few slight brownouts with them when flying way out, like 300yds+ Not major enough for a crash but elevation kept me lucky. They seem to come back on line quick enough as long as you are ready on the sticks. But my experience with Orange is enough for me not to trust them on my more expensive rigs..I almost exclusively run AR6210's with sats in all my bigger ships and after hundreds of flights I have never had one issue at all. I also use a cheapie dx6i with them and again Zero issues ever. I wonder if the 6i has a better antenna setup then the 6 ? How old was your 6 ? I heard the antenna's on the older 6's did have some issues but was corrected by the factory after some time. I also know a lot of people bash the spektrum RX's but I think most of the problems stem from improper positioning of the RX antennae in the ship itself. You need that right angle with both ants to get full signal coverage. I have seen a lot of people just willy nillie Velcro them in the fuse wherever, that combined with the TX antenna straight out instead of bent at 90deg. Is recipe for disaster. Lol Happy flying !

+dmith smith Totally agree about the position of ants and sats contributing to the rx problems. Yes the 6i does a better job because the ant is movable. The dx6 with a solid stem ant leave a hole out there for planes to fly through. Now i always use sats from foamies to da50's. If my planes is going to crash it wont be due to a radio issue.

I know why you lose to many planes...they are all electric. Go nitro you wont be disappointed.
