  • Your work happens to be toxic AF. What can you do about it? One of the questions I get most frequently is, "How can I fix a toxic company?" This requires a dig-in. Luckily, my friend and HR Expert, Tiffany Castagno agree with chat with me live about how a toxic company and reform and become a dream job, what leaders should do if a toxic work environment has emerged, and what employees (i.e. you) can do if toxic behaviors have become the norm, whether from toxic coworkers or bad bosses.

Psychological safety: the foundation of a functional workplace that thrives.
Why do so many workplaces fail to achieve that?

I think it's because values have disintegrated in society, on the whole.

Many times it's not as psychologically unsafe as it's precieved, many times it's disfunction thinking leading to disregulated feelings actually caused by CPTSD in the employee

Why can’t bosses, treat their workers with respect and surely the employees will be more likely to be more motivated and feel happier

I am from St Petersburg, Florida. I love my job with my students, but management makes for a gossip, snitching, pit-employee- against -employee culture. SOS!

I wish I was live with you guys because I have so much questions to ask. For instance, my boss listens to my co-worker for everything and that drives me crazy. Playing favorites just because my coworkers dad is a higher up is not fair. This coworker is a hater, against me for mostly everything, and is really rude to me all the time. Whenever I have training with this douche bag, he treats me so mean. I finally said enough is enough, so I told him I don't like the way you are speaking to me right now and yelled at him. It felt great to put him in his place. The weird thing is that he actually calmed down, went into hiding. Before I yelled at my coworker, I told my Supervisor I was having trouble dealing with this guy. The next day I felt some retaliation from my boss. He wasn't as friendly to me the next day, so I'm not sure why this back fired on me. Any advice how I could've handled this better? Thanks

I don’t recommend my strategy to you but I once had a coworker who’s dad was high up in my company. I have a way to find people’s address and info. I used a burner phone to send him a text. I said, “You know who this is, pussyboy. Here’s a picture of your house, your address, family info and a picture of the 300 Blackout round I’m gonna put in your brain if you even think about trying to get me in trouble. You fuck with my livelihood, I’m gonna take yours. I can touch you from hundreds of yards away. Always remember, a man with nothing has nothing to lose. Don’t make your father suffer for losing his son over being a bitchboy. Stay safe.” I saw him the next day and gave him this evil death stare to let him know it was me without saying it, and all I saw was the blood in his face sink and he turned white. He tried to blame me for that text but he couldn’t prove it and only made himself look stupid, and he never fucked with me again after that. He stayed out of my way entirely. You’d have thought I was the one with a relative in management.

@@ButtScootBJJ omg that was epic and scary at the same time. I don't I would have the guts to try that tactic on a coworker. Actually months went by and he has calmed down. I had to be a bitch to him every time he was disrespectful towards me. I had to put boundaries in place otherwise this guy will be a dick head. I started keeping a daily log on every meeting and every task I was doing. I just want to build up my experience and get the hell out of there. I've concluded I may not get a promotion because of the extreme favoritism in my team. I'm keeping my options open.

Since this is a long video, would you be willing to post shorter clips of it as separate videos? For example, what if you took 5-to-10-minute segments from this video and posted them?

Or another idea, that could be helpful, is to put time stamps in the info box about the various topics that are being discussed :)

I LOVE the advice and think it's great and MUCH appreciated. Can you use the word "LIKE" less though? Every other word is distracting.

Women are socialized to speak a certain way, and then penalized professionally and personally. I reject the misogynistic standards and... Speak naturally and unapologetically. My refusal to comply is a vibe that I know makes some people uncomfortable, luckily listening to me is always optional 💜
