    Today I got the chance to take the Fender CD-60 V3 through its paces.
    This is a fantastic acoustic guitar for the money. So full of resonance and tone at such a great price.
    This video includes my thoughts, the specs rundown and a playthrough.
    Thanks to Guitarworks Canada for lending me the guitar for the demo. Check them out here: guitarworks.ca/. Buy this guitar from them here: guitarworks.ca/products/fende...

    I bought the CD-60s all Mahogany model two weeks ago as my first Guitar to learn on as an over 40 adult. So far it seems great. I think the only difference is that mine has a solid top in Mahogany not a laminated top. So far its been pretty good to play and learn with. I really like the deeper wood color over the natural spruce.

    • @FretSuccess
      @FretSuccess  11 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting. I've not had the chance to play the Mahogany one. I imagine the mahogony is a slightly mellowed tone compared to the natural spruce. What kind of things are you playing on it? Strumming, Picking? Good on you picking up the guitar by the way!

    • @MrMikey1273
      @MrMikey1273 11 месяцев назад +1

      @FretSuccess I'm not really sure exactly what I'm playing. I suppose mostly strumming now. Being I've never played anything before I'm just now working on learning fingering and how to play some chords clearly. Based on the music I like , classic rock country and folk rock I probably will do some picking too at some point. For now learning the basics is all I got Going.

    • @MrMikey1273
      @MrMikey1273 9 месяцев назад +1

      @FretSuccess for now just mastering playing some chord clearly. I try playing a few songs but I'm not really fast enough to change chords and play through a song at its normal speed. I'm mostly interested in playing country and classic rock.

    • @FretSuccess
      @FretSuccess  9 месяцев назад

      @@MrMikey1273 cool. Thanks for sharing. That's a good plan you have. Get things clean and slow and you won't go far wrong. Just speed up when you're ready. The metronome/playing to backing tracks is your friend. Any favorite songs you're working through at the moment?

    • @MrMikey1273
      @MrMikey1273 9 месяцев назад

      @FretSuccess I been trying to play "Whats up" by 4non blondes and "Boys round here" by Blake Sheldon. Also I was playing a few praise and worship songs like Amazing grace and I'll fly away.
      Basically songs with 4 chords or less. I think some of the songs I'd like to play in the future are pretty ambitious, like Suite Maddam Blue by the Stix and Never going back again by Fleetwood Mac, however wow Lindsay Buckinham is way more talented than I have now.

    Hey guys, I'm in the market for buying an acoustic guitar and most likely gonna buy the fender you just demo in this video. On Google reviews some people talked about the problems with the strings. I've never played guitar and looking to learn. But is that a common thing where people buy other strings for guitar? Is there strings that make the playing experience better? Or string that make the guitar sound better?

    • @FretSuccess
      @FretSuccess  2 года назад +1

      Hey Juan. The string conversation is a long one and each person has a different view. It's common to have string preference and change them when you get a new guitar. It's good to changes the strings regularly to keep the guitar sounding good, as they dull after a bit of playing. The frequency depends on the amount you play and how acidic your hands are. For acoustic I opt for the elixir nanoweb acoustic strings. They are a little more expensive but last a long time. The other side is string gage. Higher the gauge, thicker the strings and harder to bend. Going for a gauge 12 to start with. It always pays off to get a pro setup on the guitar too. Especially if changing string gauge, as this will affect the guitar action etc. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

    I have a Fender parlour size, it was for next to nothing cost wise but, it's a pure pig to play, a no-go above the 5th. From your review this seems a whole lot better (different type & price-range notwithstanding), but how does it compare to something like a Yamaha FG310?

    • @FretSuccess
      @FretSuccess  2 года назад +1

      Hey man. Interesting. I've not played the parlour one. I was impressed by this guitar and didn't expect to be. No playing issues on this one, played very well and the natural tone is very pleasing to the ear and very playable. I haven't played the Yamaha FG310. I'll be on the look out to try one and hopefully do a demo soon. Are you in the market for a new acoustic then?

    • @Fnmag762
      @Fnmag762 2 года назад

      @@FretSuccess I've a 30 yr old Yamaha 410a, it's aged quite nicely and sounds better than I'll ever be able to play, so for now I'm good. I'd given a 310 as a gift to someone, and I was impressed by how sweet it played. The 310 is very similar to the Fender you demo'd, but with a lower price.

    Sorry a question, i can change the strings metal to nylon?

    • @FretSuccess
      @FretSuccess  10 месяцев назад

      Not advised. The guitar is designed for steel. You can put them on but you'll have to make a load of adjustments to the guitar including neck adjustments through truss rod and file bigger holes in your saddle. I wouldn't advise it, especially as you'll need a pro to do that kind of adjustment. If you want nylon then it's far easier to buy a guitar designed for nylon strings. Fyi, you can definitely not put steel strings on a guitar designed for nylon in case you were wondering.
