- It's time for some apartment hunting in Seattle! My boyfriend and I are moving out of our studio apartment into a 1 bedroom apartment, and I can't wait to reveal which one we chose out of the apartments in Seattle we looked at!
In this video, I'm taking you along for three 1-bedroom apartment tours in the Seattle area, reveal what rent is like here, and show you a sampling of what apartment rentals look like in our budget! I'm basically living out my dream of producing an episode of House Hunters, only it's Apartment Hunters. This is what I was born to do. 🙃

As a fellow apartment dweller, I feel you about the carpet. However, carpet does help keep the noise down between apartments. Most of the newer complexes here in Texas will put hardwoods in the first floor units and then carpet everything else above for soundproofing. I love the apartment you chose! It's gorgeous!!!

They all were nice. However, my faves were the 2 units in the suburbs. Trees all around make these my first choice.

My boyfriend and I have been looking for an apartment for years! The heinous carpet struggle is real! I feel like 90% of the listings I see have it-even in new construction. Why?? So nasty. That and the dark caves are my dealbreakers. Looks like you found a good one!
Congrats on the new place! The first one was technically the best option; I personally liked that cement column/accent in the last space but it would be a challenge to furnish around. I think you both chose well, and I’m looking forward to see this process! (More content from you is always a great!)

I just watched your video! Congrats to the three of you moving onto your next adventure. I would have chosen number two. I love the spacious floor plan as well as all the closet space and well living amongst the trees is definitely more my vibe. Apartment number one would have been my second choice.

as an apartment dweller, I can understand your feeling about carpeting, the hardwood is so much more pleasing. But as a sound barrier, carpeting is a must. It buffers both lower and upper apartment noises.
Oh wow, good for you and your man (and your familiar)! Seattle was my home for 8 years and I was raised in NY. So I get being a city girl all your life. I also traveled a lot in my life, so city life plus traveling has been exhausting.. so I moved out to the quiet northern part of the Mid West. A much needed change of pace.
I lived in downtown near Pike Place Market when I first moved there, then I lived in Lower Queen Anne, and then Ballard - but there's so much to love about each district there, CH is so cool! My usual haunt was ID. Can't help it, I'm a weeb at heart!

I’m late in my comment, but I discovered your channel yesterday, and I’m working my way thru the videos. I’m enjoying them so much, and I would have picked #1 as well. There are always work arounds for closets. It helps that I am a minimalist, especially with clothes. I would love to have hardwood floors in my mobile, but I have become a bit of a fall risk as I have gotten older, so my doctor advised against hardwood and rugs 😢. I hope you really enjoy the apartment, and I’m off to see how you have decorated it !

Aw I understand feeling bummed about leaving a dreamy space! I'm not necessarily bummed about leaving this studio, but I'm definitely emotional about it. Trust that you'll be able to make your next space just as dreamy, regardless of how much more affordable it is!

Omggg I'm soooo excited for you guys!! As soon as I saw the windows in #1 I was practically drooling. 😂 I LOVE these types of videos because I LOVEEEEE looking at apartment spaces lol! I couldn't figure out which one you guys would choose between 1 and 2 and in the end I was kinda praying it would be #1 despite the closet space because THOSE WINDOWS! Personally I would probably choose #2 because I'm more a suburban girl (I had to look up what suburban was tbh I never knew the differences) and busy cities make me kinda anxious, but for you guys I think you absolutely chose the best spot for you! Also I wanted to react to the price: at first I was like "whoaaaa that's expensive!" but thinking again... I live in Silicon Valley, and for $2400 that would maybe get you a REALLY nice studio or a decent (non-remodeled) CARPETED 2 bedroom 🤪 Oooh I'm soooo excited to see how you guys decorate this space! Moving in especially is always such a challenge, so I'm most excited to see your unpacking journey and see how you guys incorporate style in the process!!! Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I picked apt 1 even though there was lack of closet space. The view and the gym were just wow the large windows also made it look so much bigger #2 was beautiful but the change from city to suburbs can be really hard especially when your no ready for that. #3 was nice but lacked great natural lighting and felt too closed in for my personal taste.

I can picture a mobile island in the kitchen, the storage was so great and I would’ve used the concrete piece in the bedroom as part of my decorative inspiration♥️ Good luck to you both on a Wonderful journey ahead!☺️

Yeah! Glad you chose #1. Like you I hate carpet. Won’t live anywhere that has it. The views are fantastic. I couldn’t give up living downtown either. The convenience can’t be beat. You can always put a clothing rack in the bedroom to hang your in-season clothes on. My place has the same GE appliances. They must give apartments a great deal. Good luck with the move! I’m sure Helo will be content in your new home.
Thank you Jill! Haha it'll be very interesting to see how Helo reacts to this change. This studio is her little sanctuary and she's so neurotic that I wouldn't surprised if she takes a while to get used to the new space! And yep, exactly, we really just couldn't give up the downtown lifestyle 😊

Thank you so much! Haha yeah Seattle rent is getting ridiculous 😅 And it's funny, I love dark and moody, but I want dark/moodiness to be on MY terms (my decor choices), not because the space is already dark, you know? I do love a ton of natural light paired with my dark moody decor!

Thank you Amy! There actually was a gym with #3 that I didn't get footage of. It was pretty unremarkable to be honest - kind of small and not a lot of stuff in it! Pretty hard to beat the gym in #1 haha

I definitely liked the first apartment the most. As a pet sitter in Seattle, I have seen several different types of apartments.
Ooh so you have some great insight on what apartments are looking like here! Yeah the first one was pretty wonderful, we move in next week and I can't wait!
Definitely #1. The windows were so great! You can overcome storage space issues but living in a dark place without a lot of natural light is *depressing*. And I just didn't think you were ready to head to the 'burbs. I'm in Vancouver BC (as opposed to Vancouver WA, just before you get to Portland) but I have friends in Seattle and have always liked both Capitol Hill and the area around U Dub. Right DT is a bit intense for me. But it's nice to be able to see the city. As for the price, well, there are 2 of you now so that's a bit easier to bear. I'm in a 500 sq ft Laneway house because I literally can't afford a 1 bedroom. And I have a killer deal on this place, where I've been for almost 5 years. Spatially, it's easier now that my teen is away at school and we're down to me and my poodle!
I would have chosen apartment #1 as well. Congrats to you both!

Apartment number one is great as far as a big city apartment goes. It has those windows which are amazing! However for me, I would’ve chose apt number two, those views!!! I would love to have a view like that because I am tired of looking at the parking lot out of the windows of my apartment😆
Haha YES those views in #2 were pretty hard to say no to. When I was showing Kobee this video after I was done editing it, when those views came up I was like "damn, that would've been nice..." haha. But we're both such city people, we just can't tear ourselves away from downtown! We both agree that maybe someday we'll move that exact apartment building in Sammamish because it was so lovely!

Congrats Steffie and Kobee! What a great apartment (I'm secretly jealous!). Choosing among the 3 options would have been quite easy for me as I'm allergic to dust (yup, it's a thing) and carpets are a huge NO. This said, even without carpets in the other 2 my choice would still be the same as you guys!
Thank you Lisa! Oh man, being allergic to dust must be horrible! Haha you wouldn't last 2 minutes in my current apartment - this place is constantly coated in dust no matter how much I clean. 😅 I blame our ceiling fan!

How exciting! Does Kobe like your decorating style and will he be cool with you taking the lead on the decorating or will it involve combining styles and compromises? If your styles are different, how would you describe his style?
Yes luckily Kobee loves my style and has very similar tastes! And while we're definitely going to be collaborating, he acknowledges that I'll basically be "head interior stylist" in this situation, haha.

Girl, I live in CapHill. And let me tell you, the rent prices are ridiculous! It's either you get a big closet and a shower and no tub, or a bathroom with a tub but with no closet. LMAO you can never win.

I think the first was my favorite apartment, but this is where the difference in age and lifestyle comes in, I would've chose the burbs! To each his own, eh?!

Since the bathroom has two doors maybe block off the bedroom door by putting a storage unit in front of it.
Ah there's an idea! We'll probably want to keep the bathroom accessible from the bedroom, but we have something in mind that I think will be very helpful! I think my next video will be about shopping for that thing... 🤗

Is homelessness/safety a concern for the capitol hill/SLU area?
It's so funny to hear "lack of closet space" as a con because in other countries (I live in Germany) there isn't ANY closet space at all! You're expected to buy/bring your own closets, which is why those ikea wardrobes are so popular. I live in a 4-room apartment in Berlin and I have zero built-in closets. I would have picked the same apartment as you, given the choices!

Hahaha so fascinating! Europe has such a different way of going about things - like, I remember seeing episodes of House Hunters International in Europe where the washer/dryer is commonly IN THE KITCHEN. 😂 To an American that's pretty mind blowing haha
@@ModaMisfit Having the laundry machine in the kitchen or bathroom is very common in Germany! I have mine in the bathroom, but in my first apartment here it was in the kitchen. It has to do with the water lines, and people don't have dedicated laundry rooms here.
I probably would have chosen apartment 3. LOL is there a nearby Public storage type place for a closet?
We can actually rent some storage space in our new building! But we're going to do our best to not add on the extra expense. It'll definitely be an interesting challenge!

Haha I understand, Giovanna! A part of me is feeling like "nooooo!" too, because I love this studio so much. But I'm definitely ready for this next chapter! Two people living in a studio is definitely not ideal, haha
I’m just curious about your choice of apartment number one...where do you plan to put the litter box?
Good question! That hallway closet with the washer and dryer has space for a litter box. And if that ends up not feeling right, we'll look into getting a litter box cabinet!
i also hate carpets unless i can palce mini ones myself
