Hey nutn, I know there it's a very small chance that you are gonna read this comment, but I wanted to say thanks. I'm 15, and into shooting. Sadly, my parents are not. Your channel has taught me SO much. I have had different jobs since I was 12 years to fund my shooting, and your vids have always guided me to buy the right thing. My parents have helped fund me, but 70% of the money used to buy stuff has been earned by me. I probably would have bought a lot of junk without the project, wasting all of that hard work. Thanks again.
I have these....one thing you didn't mention specifically that is an on-purpose feature: no stitching to blow out on fingertips, they wrap over to minimize pressure points and get rid of the seam that always fails first. I LOVE mine. Great gloves.
Have been using Pig gloves for the past 7 months and love them as you sometimes forget you have them on. I like them so much that I bought 3 more pair just for backup when my first pair wear out.
I love how you show the great gear one can get without breaking the bank. Like this and the Kershaw Skyline. Which yes I own. I carry that one every day and also have a CRKT m21-02g that I keep in my range bag. Its thick blade makes digging slugs out easier.
been using Mechanix gloves since they came out, the finger gusseting intrigues me, and the shallower cuff seems spot on, all drawbacks to the mechanix that have been in the back of my mind but didn't realize until i saw these
I was wondering when you were gonna review these, I got them as soon as the came out, immediately after putting them on I realized they had officially became my go to glove for shooting over Mechanix, that being said I still love my Mechanix in certain situations. But for pure shooting you can't beat the pigs. Glad to see you found them and decided to review them. Keep up the great work Nutn!
I've gone through 3 pairs of these on the job since I got them when they were first released. Absolutely the best tactical gloves I've ever had. I buy them over and over gladly.
I own a pair if the these PIG gloves. non-touch ($6 cheaper than touch in my experience) in FDE of course! the fit is just amazing! bought them about 2 or 3 months ago. not sure how well they will hold up compared to the mechanix gloves. thanks for the review nutn!
I may try a pair on if I see them in a store? But I've been using mechanix for two decades, and started when the first came out and I was working as a mechanic! They were revolutionary!
The Shellback plate carrier and PIG glove reviews remind me of all the tactical gear reviews from 2010 when I found TNP! Keep it up Nutn! All we need now is more runnin and gunnin!
Huge fan of Mechanix gloves I use them when working on cars haven't used them for tactical outings yet but should get a pair just for that.Great video Nutn.
There are vids on how to make any gloves work w/ touch screens. Easiest way is to make a single stitch thru a fingertip w/ a bit of metallic thread - nothing fancy - a few square knots of thread will do... I began buying Mechanix gloves circa 2000 when their warranty was LIFETIME 100% satisfaction warranty (I have the orig package and just checked). However, Mechanix current warranty is now only 90 days! My bigger complaint about mechanix is the quality in the stitching - my index fingers come apart after only a few months right at the seam. This is plain unacceptable. I am glad to see a competitor like PIG - maybe it will force mechanix to up their game... Tip to new buyers is this style is made to fit your hands TIGHT, so dont size up when you buy or they will fit for a day or so and then begin bagging up - no good for picking up small tools or nuts and bolts if the fingertips sag . Nutn, thanks for mentioning the goofy rubbery plastic. Mechanix applies it to the backs of many of their gloves and it will melt if you work on something hot like near an exhaust manifold.
I have a pair of Mechanics leather gloves. They have been outstanding for comfort and durability. Have had the several years now with heavy use throughout that time and the only wear is the finger pad is coming off. I have used the for outdoor fire prep, running a chainsaw, throwing wood, shooting, while operating power tools and law equipment. They have been worth the money. Give them a shot over the standard type gloves.
Their LEATHER gloves are long wearing. Their so-called clarino fake leather ones are a while 'nother animal. I have their leather driving gloves they discontinued and their current welders gloves. Both excellent, but def not for fingertip pickup of small parts.
these look like good gloves, but i can tell you without a doubt the best gloves i have ever used for both fire arms and general use gloves are the 5.11 hard time gloves. thanks for uploading nutn
I've had these PIG gloves since Dec 2013 and can only rave about them. Although not cheap, the perfect fit and dexterity of these gloves makes them worth every dime. Touch screen capabilities are a plus as I don't like taking off my gloves to respond when the wife wants me back from shooting. The para chord loops not only let you tighten/adjust a glove with your other hand, but also serve as loops that easily hook on to carabiners you may have on your gear. My only criticism is that the touch-sensitive stitching in the fingertips of the index fingers do fray a bit-- but at least won't fall out
Mechanix has a line of Utility gloves I really like. Thinner than the original, and has the strap on the back of the hands as opposed to the front. After seeing this, I will definitely have to try these out soon. Thanks a lot.
By the way, you did touch on the fingertips but the material that is just on the pad of the top index finger is actually thinner than the rest. Which to me, when I put my finger on the trigger, not only can I actually get a feel for the trigger, it's almost as if I'm not even wearing gloves. Just wanted to put that out there for anyone who is interested, It's one of my favorite features. You won't regret this purchase if you like shooting gloves.
Watched the Peter Berg movie "Lone Survivor" last night, starring Mark Wahlberg. Noticed the 4-man SEAL team were using Mechanix gloves. I never would have noticed that detail if I wasn't following your channel and purchasing a pair of my own :) Keep up the great work!
I just happen to be in the market for some new gloves. I haven't heard of the PIG yet but extremely happy you posted this video so I have another option.
I've seen a newer Mechanix Utility glove at Wallie for $17. It has the terry cloth pad, reinforced finger tips and a little knuckle padding. They still work on iPads. They have a small leather logo pad on them. Well worth the money.
Nutn, I can't believe I just watched a review on gloves... Honestly, it was great! Why? Because I too like options in high dexterity gloves for work, driving and of course when you're putting the booger hook on the bang switch. I can't watch enough of these dam vids. Keep them coming!
I recently bought some Under Armour gloves in tan coloration and I LOVE THEM and I bet they are just about as good as those PIG gloves, Excellent dexterity as well, While I was in the Army I would either use NOMEX gloves to stay warm and those work for that but obviously you loose dexterity, I also had a pair of Whitewater tactical gloves and those were decent but I don't think they provided much protection and definitely didn't keep my hands warm unless I was doing PT. Obviously since it's summer time now I haven't tested my Under Armour gloves for warmth but I am sure they would work OK.
great video Nutn, glad to see it, and glad to see you branching out beyond Mechanix brand lol ;) Just kidding, but cool. I've been running Mechanix for 2 yrs now hiking, shooting and casual wear, and have yet to blow them out, though the velcro is getting weak. Love Mechanix, have them stashed everywhere: in my Bug out Bag, my range bag, and in my jacket pockets for winter. But maybe I'll get the PIG gloves a shot too. Thanks again man and keep posting the vids (hope for SCAR 17S review soon)! Peace brother!
Hey nutn great review. I use the lift option gloves as my primary shooting gloves the fit is great (your milage may vary) but might be worth it to check out. They only have 2 colors black and came but there great gloves at a great price. Keep up the awesome reviews.
Last year I bought a pair of gloves in Home Depot that are exactly like these in FDE, they were about $10. They fit excellent, and a tiny bit thicker than my Mechanix. I use them for shooting in cold weather and ripping weeds out of the yard.
I have a pair of hard knuckle Blackhawk SOLAGs I use, definitely on the pricey side but theyve saved me a lot of pain out in the field in the military.
After seeing all the positive reviews about this glove I ordered one from a local store. However mine didn't even last a few hours before the seam started to come undone at one of the knuckle seams. Perhaps it's just a fluke so I contacted SKD for warranty replacement since my local store ran out. SKD's customer service is one of the worst I've ever encountered! Long story short, in 4 E-mails I sent they only responded twice only to tell me on the 5th day that the store should handle replacement or refund per dealer agreement. Bad CS SKD!
Definitely going to check these gloves out, but right now my go to glove is the new Mechanix Original and Mpact Multicam glove. I chose those for all the reasons in your reviews but for one other feature that is very important to me. The palm material is the coyote brown color. That is important to me, and a pair is on my severe weather/trauma kit because with the light color palm I will actually be able to see blood when I am doing blood sweeps in trauma/injury response situations.
Another great review Nutn! Those gloves look sick! I checked out their website, looks like they don't come in black, unfortunate for LEO. Hopefully that is something they will eventually come out with. I personally am not a fan of Velcro closure for several reasons. As you mentioned, it wears out. It is also noisy and I find often gets in the way. I would really like to see a cuffless,Velcro free slip on design of this exact glove in all black. Then I'm sold. They appear to have a lot of features I love in my current work gloves.
"Why do you need knuckle padding in a tactical glove?" For when you're wrenching on something and you accidentally punch a sharp metal clip or concrete or something because you were doing it wrong!
Hey. I don't know about tactical. I wear gloves every day and the only ones worth having for me, and ive tried loads, are the white tegera cut resistant ones. They are kevlar lined and flame resistant, extremely durable and fits like a second skin. They are so thin you won't even know they are on but protects you from injury like none other I've tried. Get a smaller size and they will mold into a perfect fit. They are naturally cold i guess due to the kevlar so winter time (I'm from Sweden so we have cold winters and i do work outside every day in all weather) they are REALLY cold but i use a cheap pair of fingerless cotton gloves underneath the tegera ones with perfect results. Try it.
The only caveat I can add is that they don't do anything against hot hand guards because of the thin material, and the holes in the palms. If you need oven mitts for your rifle hand guard look elsewhere, but for all the reasons you mentioned I give them 9/10. I have the ranger green gloves and have worn them often for about 2 years. Oh and don't mow your lawn with them, because they'll stink of wet grass for a long time. Trust me.
Great review. I usually like a glove that comes further up on the wrist. However, after watching this this video I might rethink it. These seem to some nice glove and if you can text on iPhone with these and still have good dexterity then this is a plus for me.
For hard use, I use Franklin Hard Knuckle gloves. They're similar to Oakley's the military uses. And get this, they're just $19.99 and free shipping from botach.com. And they come in different colors, as well as short or long cuff. They use nomex flash fire resistant material and fine leather. By far the best glove due to they've lasted me over a year now and the cost. I also, use Mechanex gloves too. The have a new line which is like the originals. However, they're 4x's more in strength and only cost $24.99. Time will tell if these newer mechanex gloves hold up longer than the originals. Hope this helps some of you out. Again, the Franklin I mentioned above are awesome. Great quality, durable and only $20 with free shipping from botach.com And NO I don't work for botach or Franklin gloves. Just know a good thing when I see and use it. And like to share that info so others can enjoy too.
Re: touchpad use on mobile devices. Some models and brands have better screens/touch sensors now which function with any gloves or material and also in the wet. Handy! So the different materials in the fingertip of the gloves is maybe less required in the future. I rock the Nokia 520. Has all the core functions you want, but you don't have to worry about breaking it. Bust it when working hard or operating in the field? $40 and free shipping from Amazon gets you another one. Good deal. I haven't killed the first one after 15 months, but I've got a spare loaded and ready to go if needed.
Thanks for the review. I love the fit of Mechanix gloves but hate their logo all over the place so if the PIG gloves fit you that well I'm inclined to think I'll love their fit as well. Just ordered a pair. Currently I'm wearing Ironclad gloves but the thumb and pinky fingers are so much longer I literally have problems picking up some things since my thumb doesn't work right.
Got my gloves and they fit perfectly! Every finger fits exactly right except the pinky and it's only slightly longer for me but I probably have smaller pinky fingers. I love it but I couldn't use it out camping since it has tiny holes on the palm side of the gloves. It would let thorns and splinters in so it just wouldn't provide the protection I would need. Other than that a fantastic fit.
I've tried on all the tactical gloves and never found a pair I "had to have." Being a cyclist, I started looking for tactical gloves in bike shops. I found Fox Unabomber gloves to have the fit and dexterity (I've experimented with wearing them all day I find there's almost nothing I need to take them off for) I was looking for. The palm surface appears to be the same material as the PIG gloves reviewed here. They also have some light knuckle padding and gripping surfaces on the fingers that make them pretty good driving gloves too. So if you're having trouble finding tactical gloves that fit "just right," check out the gloves at your local cycle shop. Of course, you'll also find fingerless gloves there too, if that's what you prefer.
I have a pair of these, and it is excellent. Best dexterity on a glove I personally felt. Very tight and ajusted feeling. I have medium size hands and fingers on the thin side, no fatty sausages and it is real tight so watch out for those who have fat hands and fingers you might not get inside or have to take it so big i would be too long.
as of 3/14/16 mechanix original covert large 2 pack 19.95 at Wal-Mart. the pig fdt alpha large 42.95 each at amazon. I'll stick with mechanix for now!! I'll spend the other 22 bucks on honeyville food storage!! thanks for the vids!!!!
I started using these gloves over a year ago and it's funny how nutn came to the exact same conclusions that I did. The mechanix gloves never got me quite right, but once I found these ones I fell in love. They are thin in the right places, have excellent flexibility, padding in the right areas (but not too much that it gets in the way), great stitching, and fingertips that don't go under your nails (which tons of other gloves do and it pisses me off). My only gripe is that they tend to stretch out a bit and might over stretch and not for as well over time.
Dude. U are the reason my husband sits in our living room with headphones on and tablet in hand. I also enjoy your bids tho. Give Ally a kiss on the nose for me 😀
I sure hope they last longer than Mechanix. I got my fifth pair of Mechanix gloves, awesome but durable as if they were made of paper, even CG heavy duty got multiple stitch failures after 4 months of use at work.
I hear that brother, I switched to Outdoor Research (forgot the name of glove) but they are holding up really well. Lots of desert environment work and the like. I tried these Pig's early 2013 and they were awesome then. I say give these a try as Nut'n has rarely (if ever) lead his TNPers astray. I hope to see an updated review before the year is out!
Thanks mate, will check if they're available in Europe. Mechanix CG heavy duty cost their weight in gold for my budget, marketed as super tough and it was a sad joke. Sewing leather onto rubber parts was a dumb idea on their part.
Silver State Arms IMO Outdoor Research are the best tactical gloves, I have the ironsight model, doesn't have the touch screen capability though. I also have the PIG alpha touch, they are awesome other then the touch screen threads wore out and unthreaded pretty quick. only took me daily use over the winter to wear them out. Both are much better than Mechanix though for sure.
how are you going through mechanix so fast, ive had the same pair for 5 years, that I used when I was a mechanic for 3 years, and still work without failures
I've been researching gloves recently. The Mechanix gloves seem to get positive reviews from the vast majority and seem like a safe bet. I've found a few interesting alternatives too, though finding enough reviews to be statistically significant isn't possible in a lot of cases. A thought I've had regarding the touch screen friendly stitching is, why not put it on the pinky? For basic functionality it would do the trick (stuff like pinch gestures may not work) and it isn't a high wear area. That would leave the index finger, middle finger and thumb more robust and if there is a way to reinforce the tips of those fingers (perhaps with genuine leather) a glove like the PIG FDT or Mechanix would become pretty much ideal for tactical use.
hmmm will probably give these a try once I ware out my Mechanix (I bought based on your review). I have had them for over a year and little signs of ware, with a good amount of use.
I picked up my mechanix gloves for $9 at NAPA auto parts, they actually had the all black tactical ones (old style). To me, the extra couple features don't justify the price difference. That's just me though.
Of course pricing is all over the place, but these cost 2/3 times as much as the Mechanix gloves that I buy on Amazon. It doesn't appear that they last much better. I don't think I will switch.
You can buy 2 pair of Mechanix for one of these, but the fit and dexterity of these can't be overlooked. Personally the three pair of Mechanix I have are all toasted, so i'll be giving these a try.
Nutn, what do you think about the Mechanix wear M-Pact gloves? I found a pair for around $11 at Home Depot and I like them. They have a little extra padding on the palm and knuckles which helps doing yard work and such.
I got my brother and I, the Mechanix MPact gloves, last Christmas . Based on Doodle's recommendation. I got the Coyote. My brother has a black motorcycle, so I got him the all black with white highlights. Pretty cool. I love the rubber knuckles.
Hey nutn, I know there it's a very small chance that you are gonna read this comment, but I wanted to say thanks. I'm 15, and into shooting. Sadly, my parents are not. I find it funny that a pair of gloves called PIG might be used by LEO or SWAT teams haha
I have these....one thing you didn't mention specifically that is an on-purpose feature: no stitching to blow out on fingertips, they wrap over to minimize pressure points and get rid of the seam that always fails first.
I LOVE mine. Great gloves.
Got these a couple months ago. Best gloves I've ever had! I'm typing this in the field with them on right now
Got my gloves today. Love them. First pair of gloves that actually fit. Worth every penny.
Have been using Pig gloves for the past 7 months and love them as you sometimes forget you have them on. I like them so much that I bought 3 more pair just for backup when my first pair wear out.
When the index finger finally wears out, they'll still be touch sensitive gloves! Thanks for the review.

I was hoping PIG Gloves was a strange new name for an innovative new knife and sheath... dang it :-(
I was wondering when you were gonna review these, I got them as soon as the came out, immediately after putting them on I realized they had officially became my go to glove for shooting over Mechanix, that being said I still love my Mechanix in certain situations. I ordered a pair of these about 20 minutes before this vid posted. Can't wait till they arrive. Thanks for the review.
I've gone through
3 pairs of these on the job since I got them when they were first released. Absolutely the best tactical gloves I've ever had. I buy them over and over gladly.
So glad you finally got around to getting your hands on these, they don't hold up as well as mechanics your millage may vary but they are super comfy.
I own a pair if the these PIG gloves. non-touch ($6 cheaper than touch in my experience) in FDE of course! the fit is just amazing! bought them about 2 or 3 months ago. not sure how well they will hold up compared to the mechanix gloves. thanks for the review nutn!

Bought these a week ago in OD green. Awsome gloves. Awsome that your reviewing gloves! Try an UpUla speed loader. Will save your gloves.

I was wondering if you were going to catch onto these bad boys. Great gloves for sure. PIG make some quality gear from what I've seen.
OUTSTANDING Gloves !!!
Have 2 pair myself !!
Thank you for years of action, info, humor, ethics oh yeah & fun!
Don't Stop! Keep it Coming!
Thanks for posting this vid man! I'm definitely going to grab a pair of these for work and around the house. The fit looks outstanding.

That price is retail, but I suppose you get what you pay for. However, mechanix gloves are priced noticeably lower and get the job done just as good
Make sure to check out the Tillman True-fit series of real leather mechanic gloves. They even come in all black and camo designs, and they are CHEAP!
I know what gloves I'm buying next. Good stuff, as always.
Pleaseeeeee more Knife videos. I'm dying over here. Thank you Mr. Nutnfancy

Love your videos Nut'n, No B.S.
Just the truth and facts.
Thank You Sir !
New shooting drill looks sick, looking forward to that

***** your in luck they do come in all black. Mine are all black. Try skdtac.com they are one of their main distributors.
Thanks! I'll have to get a pair!
They do come in black 91. Skd's drop down menus only show colors in stock. So they probably didnt have black in stock when you checked.
SO true Nut'n. I don't know why I like glove vids but they are great

They are naturally cold i guess due to the kevlar so winter time (I'm from Sweden so we have cold winters and i do work outside every day in all weather) they are REALLY cold but i use a cheap pair of fingerless cotton gloves underneath the tegera ones with perfect results. Try it.
I have a pair of the PIG, I have small hands but these gloves fit me like the should, like a glove lol.
I LOVE my PIG FTD Alpha gloves. best fit in a glove I've ever had. Feels like I'm wearin nothin at all! :P
For the price of $35-41? You can get two pairs of the mechanix gloves!
I have two pair of the PIG and they work great.
Damn, finaly managed to get some Mechanix here in the Netherlands and then you do this .... :)
he jij ook nederland
yep me to!!!!
dutch tnp ers
Ze zitten overal....
stiekeme mannen
I still can get Mechanix for 15 bucks shipped compared to 40 for these. Sticking to the Mechanix unless I spot a sale
Trust me.
How did I miss this video? Thanks Nutn!
The grey and black ones at Home Depot for $9.95 are actually quite good as well.
Hey Nutn! Time for another one of those DuraCoat videos, or even better, whatever newfangled gun paint might be out there now.
About the new gloves mechanix. THANK YOU, FINALLY SOMEONE WHO AGREES.
I use the same pig gloves in fde love they seem to be holding up great
Thanks for the review.
Those remind me of my paintball gloves finger joints and all.
I have a pair of these, and it is excellent. Best dexterity on a glove I personally felt. Very tight and ajusted feeling. I have medium size hands and fingers on the thin side, no fatty sausages and it is real tight so watch out for those who have fat hands and fingers you might not get inside or have to take it so big i would be too long.
they have so much dexterity that they fit my fat hands and fingers just fine
as of 3/14/16 mechanix original covert large 2 pack 19.95 at Wal-Mart. the pig fdt alpha large 42.95 each at amazon.
EvolvinEvo I have some of their glove liners from the military, they are pretty solid for sure.
how are you going through mechanix so fast, ive had the same pair for 5 years, that I used when I was a mechanic for 3 years, and still work without failures
I got a pair of PIG gloves before my annual training for the NG last month. Overall I liked them, but I got a hole along the stitching after 2 days.
Hey NUT'N. great vid. short and sweet. Love the Mechanix gloves. Lately iv'e had good luck with the Camelbak Impact CT gloves. Ever gave them a shot?
Hey Bro,
Follow several channels your are still top Dog! Glad Last Suspect and Family is doing well! Thanks.
I have had Mechanix gloves for a couple years. I like them, but these do seem better.
I ordered them in black because I wasn't sure how the other colors would match my existing gear. They feel thicker than the Mechanix gloves to me.
Of course pricing is all over the place, but these cost 2/3 times as much as the Mechanix gloves that I buy on Amazon. It doesn't appear that they last much better. I don't think I will switch.
I have a pair. Fucking love them. Worth the extra money. Sizes run a bit small so look out for that. I prefer these over any other shooting glove!
Great review! I'll have to pick up a pear:)
You can buy 2 pair of Mechanix for one of these, but the fit and dexterity of these can't be overlooked. Personally the three pair of Mechanix I have are all toasted, so i'll be giving these a try.
Glove review? what's next a scooter video : )
Good option there buddy
there are his "adventure xootr" videos... that's right, a two-parter, shot in my home town no less :-)
heraclid13
no sarcasm in OP at all.
nope.
none.
none here either.
If you watch older Nutn reviews, he discusses gloves multiple times. 'Adventure gear' is a broad net and includes apparel as well as 'tools'
Actually there is a scooter review its called the Xootr and no i am not joking.
GUYS
SARCASM
Hope your boy is getting better
what happened to his boy ?
Nutn, what do you think about the Mechanix wear M-Pact gloves? I found a pair for around $11 at Home Depot and I like them. They have a little extra padding on the palm and knuckles which helps doing yard work and such.
I like Fox Racing motocross gloves. I had an OD green pair that lasted an entire 15 month Iraq tour without a single failed seam.
I got my brother and I, the Mechanix MPact gloves, last Christmas . Based on Doodle's recommendation. I got the Coyote. My brother has a black motorcycle, so I got him the all black with white highlights. Pretty cool. I love the rubber knuckles.
