- Hey guys! Welcome back to my channel! I’m Alexandra, and if you’re new here, I create videos that show you how to outfit your home on a serious budget. I believe your home can be beautiful even if you rent and don’t want to drop a ton of money.
Today’s video is a how-to, all about peel and stick wallpaper! This stuff is my favourite way to create a fun and bold accent wall. And bonus? It’s renter-friendly!

Hi there sweet kiddo!! Your project is gorgeous! im a fan of tropical leaves in my decor also, have been decorating my own homes for many years, many moves different homes, the summer cottage ..yadayada yada..ya da ya.. Im in a seniors complex now, and of course no changes are allowed.. so this idea inspires me.. Im going to look into it now.. something for my bedroom would be so nice.. Im hoping for a coastal theme on one wall at least! The hardest part will be to find the friend to help me, but ...I will persevere until I can do something to smarten this place up!
Its hard when you are used to having free rein in your own places and then are allowed nothing ..even though its called a “life lease” , and you pay for it up front also.. the seniors in this world seem to be getting the short end of the stick!🤑😪👎🏽... thanks for sharing.. BEST..CHERYL🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦..

I love the look of this! One of the first things I did when we moved into our house was take the doors off a closet and turn it into my desk and it's one of my favourite places.
OMG THANK YOU! finishing up college and finally rennovating my room. I am currently in an apartment and this is a wonderful solution instead of traditional wallpaper or painting.

Peel & Stick wall paper seems to be really in nowadays. Parts of our place needs re-doing and I've been wondering how this could go. Your tips and links are enlightening ie. I would have definitely 100% done it myself had you not advised getting help! Thank you sooo much for saving me ! 😅😅

My fiancé and I are making some minor upgrades to our master bathroom and wallpaper was one of our missions to accomplish. Wall looks great. Really enjoyed this video. Perfect timing!
You can measure the width of the wallpaper and create marks on you wall. Then, using a spirit level, connect those marks to have a perfect vertical line that you can use as a guide to make sure you don't put the wallpaper crooked or slanted. That way, you can do it on your own. I covered two sides of my bedroom wall just by myself.

I know this is a strange question. I'm looking for plain dark grey wallpaper because I don't want to paint the actual walls as I know its hard to get them back to white for the landlord. Can I buy any kind of wallpaper, maybe one that's on clearance, and paint it a matte dark grey from paint purchased at Home Depot or Lowe's and THEN put it up? Hope anyone can help with advise or an answer!

Kat I’m a paperhanger. What exactly do you mean by “slightly textured walls?”
We can hang paper over any walls but we can’t garuntee you’ll get a smooth surface. Also if you were to paper over defects in walls “Peel and stick” is the last material in the universe you would ever use. Vinyl would be the first. Grasscloth would be the second. Standard paper would be the third.
Peel and stick is at its essence the same as the gold star in your notebook in elementary school.
It is quite literally the same material. It is one of the worst materials on earth to cover any defects in a wall.

I love it. I want to hang this adhesive paper but after watching your video it is what I feared....not as easy as they say.. I’ve hung a lot of old glue paper, but it is a BIG PAIN to REMOVE. Ugh 😑

It’s so much harder when you have slanted walls

None of the how-to videos I've watched mention this but... Don't you need a straight vertical line to follow, to start the first piece? You can't trust a wall corner to be perfectly vertical. If you follow the corner and it's not strictly vertical, the design will get progressively more crooked across the wall.
Wish I would have watched this before! I got 2 and 1/4 panels up (by myself) and had to quit. Super upset. Need help.
When I was putting up this wallpaper my cat got all excited he ran into the wall as I was about to stick it and got caught up in the actual Sticky Side of the backing he actually tore down the entire thing wrapped it up and thought it was a giant mouse I had to take him to the vet because I think he ingested too much of the glue from the paper

I am a sweaty, hot, angry mess from trying to wall paper something.
It just goes over the seam or not close enough to the seam- I feel like I have just lost mu dang mind.

My Apologies. How is this done at grandma's home where grandma was shorted and granddaughters FACE a monumental task if cleaning up after another brothers mothers sons messes, while ill from dust and grasses and abandones Cats as feeelines on a budget of NO CARS?
So as a 4'5 lady with no news of it.

Thats our dilemma.
After 02:46,yes,applying wallpaper alone will end up in tears.And disappointment.
I’m a professional installer. Peel and stick is 💩. Many installers refuse to hang it. Peel & Stick can damage a wall upon removal worse than pasted paper.
Pasted paper is way easier to install.
But is it easy to remove?

Sorry Alexander. Had to give it a thumbs down this time. I don't know how much you paid on etsy for your paper as I can't access the link. However, I did check out some of the other links. One wall in my daughter's room is 8ft x 7 ft. Not very big. It would cost $360 to cover it! Not exactly a budget choice. It was the same with the last video too. Not very budget friendly choices. Your channel does state that you offer budget friendly ways to decorate. Seems like you are beginning to leave that idea behind. Hope not.
I recognized this print right away... It's definitely a splurge! But I think it was smart of her to use it in a small space to save some money.
Sorry but I'm still not seeing how it saved money? I love the print. It's beautiful. But waAaay too expensive compared to wallpaper or stencils for example. Stencils would have been a really cheap way to do it.
@@bluecurlygirl Agreed, but this video is specifically about wallpaper, not cheap ways to create a feature wall. If that were the case, staight paint and/or stencils would definitely be the way to go.
I thought the video was about creating a renter friendly accent wall. I took from the title that the peel and stick wallpaper was the solution chosen for the feature wall. As Alexandra publicizes on her channel description that she is about budget friendly ideas, I feel that recently there is a trend seeming to form on this channel for highly expensive items. I only wanted to know if there was a change of direction for the channel. If so, with my limited budget I'm out. Simples. Not here to argue or get at anyone. Only seeking clarification on something.
@@bluecurlygirl I totally understand where you're coming from. I've gotten that sentiment as well. However, I do believe in splurging for something you love, if you can afford it. Most of my home decor cones from Home Goods, Marshalls, Burlington, Target, Dollar Tree, discount stores, and the like. But I also have an item or two that I couldn't pass up.
