Lockout Tagout
Hi everyone! Thanks for watching. We created this video as an introduction to the concept of lockout tagout. Often it's a difficult one to grasp the first time it's explained and having a visual aid like this can really help learners catch on.
Let me know what you think! What would you like to see next?
#1 - Identify the hazardous energy sources during meeting
#2 - De-energize the sources (turn off)
#3 - Apply locks/tags to prevent any unintentional powering on during repair, place keys in lockout keybox
#4 - Test out (try out) (make sure they are off)
#5 - Conduct repairs
#6 - Get everyone and all equipment out
#7 - Remove locks and tags
#8 - Re-energize the machinery
You are a good man
First and last is notify affect users
This song is an OSHA certified bop.
😂
This seems very similar to what we do in the Navy. We use red danger tags on breakers and valves.
Thank you for people and procedures like this. It makes me feel so much better after all those accidents. People do care 🐲🐲
No music is necessary Ally. Very informative and to the point, thank you!
I had to take a online lockout/Tagout test and lets just say the materials given were sub-par. Thanks for the video!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for a very good video covering all the hazards in a very short and comprehensive video. The last step TRY OUT is very important that you have highlighted as we have faced issues in oil and gas industry for not trying out "TESTING' whether the correct equipment is isolated or not. Thanks for your contribution to making industrial workplaces safe.
Many thanks for the simple and clear explanation, this is a great effort and I appreciate it.
This is a basic, down to the point summary of LOTO procedures. As an electrician who's worked in various facilities and environments for almost a decade, LOTO plays a major aspect of my daily work, and indeed many serious injuries and fatalities across a variety of industries could have been prevented by following proper LOTO procedures. Since there are many types of machinery and equipment with multiple energy sources, it is imperative that facility records are updated whenever modifications to equipment are made in a way that necessitate a change in procedures, but in the end, the principle of LOTO remains largely unchanged.
So true. I'm sure you've seen some pretty complicated LOTO's before! I used to deal with them often. The principals are basic but the execution can be more challenging. Thanks for you input!
Nice Job
Very familiar with the lockout tag out process. In the Chemical industry you can never exceed safety
Thanks for this video.
That's a cute little steam turban they got there! Probably cranks out 5 mw of power, hehe 🙂. All jokes aside, loto is safety first! Always, having worked in sawmills before, having to climb into a saw to clear a jam, loto is the first thing we do, save your limbs 🤘
Haha, I never thought of that! 😂
We are doing some custom videos in sawmills. Tough jobs but great people!
This is a well explained video Ally
What an Easy explanation thanks 💚
You’re welcome! We appreciate the feedback.
The animations: 😜
The voiceover: 🗿
The music: 🕺
Awesome
You may not always want to de-energise. It will depend on the task. Also consider when isolation upstream and downstream is required for what you are working on. See BS 14100
Hey Ally would love for you to review a new lockout Tagout product. LMK
Nice micro learning video on LOTO
May I know the title of the bg music you used in your intro? Thank you
Hi Rachel, I thought you did a great job explaining a lockout tagout and protocols to take during that event.
As always, you make the most informative presentations and try you best to address serious topics that may be ignored.
What I would like to see next is a uniform tutorial for workers or women office shoes from flats or loafers if available.
Hi Malik! I hope you're doing well. Thanks for the video suggestion! I'll try to get to that one in the new year. :)
Gracias
Locking of energy must be mandatory at site,if necessary.
Thank you Sir/Madam for this video. Sir/Madam, would you give me permission to show this video to my office department I'm working for? I just want to share to increase my team's knowledge in HSE. Thank you very much
Great video! I have a strange question: what is the title of the music playing in the background?
May I use this video to compliment out company LOTO training? Exclusive to our employees, no outside training or sales of our training materials.
Thanks
Yes, sure! Just make sure you use the links provided by RUclips like general linking or embedding. Please don’t download off RUclips since that results in US copyright violations. 🙂
Do like to share this informative safety video please.
great video! PLEASE PLEASE tell us what that song is called
Aint No Thing but to Swing by Jules Gaia
For my fellow HVAC brethren.
I ve heard that an emergency stop buttonnis not an energy isolating device so should not be used for lock out tag out. But engaging the emergency button stops electricity supply to the machine. So why cant it be used for lock out tag out? Can someone help?
Thanks for letting me know! I keep thinking it's too girly but I like it too!
I dont understand the need for the music
Hi can I use your video in our toolbox talk ? Thank you
Hi, yes, you can! Just as long as the RUclips link is used and the video is in no way ripped from the internet since that results in copyright violations.
LOTO TRY OUT
This is missing a big part of the Lockout / Tagout training. Authorized, Affected and other.
It’s not intended to be a complete LOTO training.
