You deserve a medal Luke, I know Tamworth Station well and no way could I do that amount of time there so very well done. I did find it very interesting that when the Avanti service stopped the freight was using the DF going south, and I hope you could get into the waiting room, as you could when I was there at 5 in the morning last week. Regards Mike.
Thanks a lot Mike, fortunately the waiting rooms on 3 & 4 stayed open (with heaters on!), definitely made the whole thing a lot easier with somewhere warm to escape to between trains. I'm not sure if the DF working happens every night or there was just some works going on causing them to use it. Either way it saved me running up and down to get between platforms haha.
Interesting, to see what it was like now . I remember the early 80,s when virtually everything was loco hauled. Peaks on the upper and 81-87 on the lower. . My Dad took me , many fond memories.
me and a group of mates were once mad enough to do overnighters.... and thats way back with loco hauled passenger, mail and newspapers... bloody good days, and beer and chinese was often involved too.
Haha I usually try and squeeze in a beer and some grub but there's not much around Tamworth station, had to settle for a bacon butty the morning after! Bet it was amazing back in the day doing overnighters.
Another fabulous video Luke! I love these 24 hour ones! Tamworth has got to be one of the best locations for watching trains. Can’t wait for Part 2. A great effort! Well done! Cheers and Regards Colin👍👍
I first went to Tamworth in the 50s (yes I'm a dinosaur) and it was so busy and interesting, we had to view from the famous "Field" but wow nothing has changed with the amount and variety of traffic. Always enjoy your videos keeps me up to date, thank you/
I love this video because a lot of the intermodal services and some others that you see often end up passing through where I live and its interesting to see their journey progression
By lad your fond of a treat. I used to do overnighters myself, so i know, they're Absolute killers but they can be fun and judging by whats gone through so far there, it seems Totally worth it. Done 3 to 4 hrs at Tamworth myself, earlier this year, ok it wasnt 24hrs but i enjoyed it all the same. Roll on part two to see Diggle Diaries, the Corpse of Tamworth😂. Cheers for sharing Luke.
Haha had to make sure any pieces to camera for the diaries was done way after doing this stint or it would have looked like a corpse 😂 Thanks Mickey, glad you enjoyed it!
Another great video, what I love about the MOD train is I did a whole video about weathering some Bachmann VGAs and the 4th van from the back is one of the vans I based my weathering on, I can tell just by the silver patch up job 😂
Wow! First 12 hours are great Luke, so looking forward to part 2. Really appreciate the better highlighting on the bingo sheet and amazed how much you filled in the first half. Perhaps you should count the number of sheds you see twice in places like Tamworth. Thanks again for doing these 24 hours so we can watch in comfortable surroundings. Star work Luke👌👏👍
Great video Luke, Tamworth certainly kept you on your toes. Dusty bin looked as it was going to take off with the freightliner thundering through, towards the end!
Hi 👋🏻 Luke 😊 Thanks for enduring the cold weather to bring us this great video at Tamworth low level & High level station 👍🏻 I love doing all nighters in the late 70s early 80s BR blue waggon load freight trains 😊 Shame about the RM trains stopping especially just as Christmas 🎄 is coming 😫
This is great thanks Luke - such a busy place. Been through there many times but never stopped. Maybe on next UK visit. Look fwd to Part 2, thanks again. Cheers Marty
So worth the wait a big thanks Luke appreciated your commitment to give us the best footage.what a variety.!!great to see wrong line working southbound.?never seen that before.!!👏👏🥃 at least you got your daily steps in!😂
Thanks as always pal, yeah nice to see em running on the bi-directional, if nothing else it saved me having to run back and forth between the platforms haha. 27,000 steps and 90 flights of stairs I did over the 24 hours! Still knackered now 😂
Excellent video luke hats off to you for up and down the stairs great conditions early morning aswell with the mist and fog rolling in unusual to do a whole 12 hours and not see a light loco great variety aswell looking forward to part 2
Hats off to your stamina and fortitude over the 24 hours! Looking forward to part 2. The video and sound quality are very good, makes it a joy to watch. Doing well on the bingo card for half way through too!
Another cracking collection Luke, the dropping mist added a great feel and the movement triggered lighting was almost as if you'd planned it. well done
Damn never thought to check railcam 🤦🏻♂️ wasn’t too bad on opentraintimes though to be honest, only things I missed were on purpose to catch something else.
Great vid Luke, it's certainly a great location. I foresee ten thousand subscribers very soon, you really deserve it and it's down to your dedication and hard work.
Thanks a lot mate, it wasn't actually quite as cold as it looked! Learnt from the last ones to make sure I'm wrapped up to the eyeballs no matter what the forecast says though!
Great video once again Luke. What a fantastic location Tamworth is. Great to see the oil and steel trains on the high level. Really looking forward to part two now 👍
Thanks a lot Geoff, yeah always nice to see something a bit different from the containers, especially those coil steel wagons, never see those anymore!
Many thanks for yet another top notch video, can't wait for part two. The volume of traffic is incredible, with the bingo sheet almost complete already. Keep up the great work Luke.
Great stuff again Luke, good variety of workings, and the shots of fast freight trains in the dark looming out of the fog were just spectacular! Thanks for putting yourself through the torture - especially when you have to run up & down stairs! Looking forward to part two!
I've been eagerly waiting for this and I wasn't disappointed...simply brilliant is all I can say. The mix of freight was mind blowing as was switching between low and high level. I can't wait for part 2 😎
Wow Luke what a first part, awesome video as per usual, looks super cool with the lighting & fog, also lols a chilly night too, thanks for sharing, looks super cool forward too part 2, 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great first half of the trip. You'll have to add some extra things to the bingo sheet at this rate. Maybe a new mini game too, guess the total number of sheds by the end of part 2. My guess 67
Entertaining watch and wondering when you found the time to know wat was coming next. Are there any stations in the south that would be suitable for a later 24-hour or dawn to dusk special? I would suggest Cardiff, Bristol, Newport or Swindon but I am not sure how much freight traffic there is through them. Will certainly be difficult to beat Tamworth looking at Part 1...
Cheers for the suggestions Andrew, definitely willing to go down South (as I did for Eastleigh), Newport was pretty high up on my list actually so need to look into that one. Keeping on top of everything due was tough, had to write down at the top of the hour everything that was due in the next 60 mins and stay vigilant but impossible to catch everything.
Was at Tamworth for the first time back on Sept 17th. I live close to Niagara Falls, Canada.
I was in Niagara Falls, Canada back in August of 2023
Wow what brought you to Tamworth mate? Spent a lot of times over in Niagara (lived in Hamilton, ON for a while in my younger days).
Don't mind me asking.... but why do they use the Down Fast? (If you happen to know!)
Must have been amazing mate!
me and a group of mates were once mad enough to do overnighters.... and thats way back with loco hauled passenger, mail and newspapers... bloody good days, and beer and chinese was often involved too.
Thanks a lot Colin, think this might be the best one yet for sure! 👍
I first went to Tamworth in the 50s (yes I'm a dinosaur) and it was so busy and interesting, we had to view from the famous "Field" but wow nothing has changed with the amount and variety of traffic. Always enjoy your videos keeps me up to date, thank you/
Thanks very much Roy, must have been something else back then when EVERYTHING was loco hauled and the tail end of steam was still around.
24 hours in Tamworth? Bloody hell. A five minute drive through is enough for me. Well done.
Haha cheers mate 👍
I love this video because a lot of the intermodal services and some others that you see often end up passing through where I live and its interesting to see their journey progression
I always find that interesting too seeing workings where you wouldn’t normally catch them. Glad you enjoyed it pal 👍🏻
We live in the next village along the line to Lichfield Trent Valley your right it’s constantly through the night on the WCML. New Subscriber. 👍
Cheers Paul, much appreciated. Must be fantastic living so close!
@ it was great seeing them 4 Track it from Tamworth to Armitage spent some hours watching them at Huddlesford very complicated at times
Well, Luke, I definitely have to say that part 1, of your 24 hours at Tamworth was something special
Thanks very much Lee 👍
By lad your fond of a treat. I used to do overnighters myself, so i know, they're Absolute killers but they can be fun and judging by whats gone through so far there, it seems Totally worth it. Absolutely brilliant! The 37 thrashing through was my favourite!!
Can’t beat a 37 on full chat 👌🏻
Excellent video i didn't realise Tamworth was so well lit at night ... Love the motion sensors lights on the low level
Definitely looked out on that one mate, was worried the lights would go out completely!
Ooh, ghost wagons again ! Never been to Tamworth, had to go on Google Maps just now to see what the High/Low levels were all about, very interesting.
Cheers Tim, it's a very unusual layout for sure1
A little late to this video Luke. Just got back from. My Holidays today, it’s been well worth the wait, fantastic video.
Thanks a lot John, hope you had a great holiday mate.
@ certainly did Luke it was a cracker.
Really well made video. Thanks.
Another great video, what I love about the MOD train is I did a whole video about weathering some Bachmann VGAs and the 4th van from the back is one of the vans I based my weathering on, I can tell just by the silver patch up job 😂
Cheers James, much appreciated mate. I remember that video well, it was the first of your videos I ever watched!
Brilliantly done! Good to see so many Safmarine containers, my favourite. Four o’clock is always a rough time to be awake.
Cheers Rodney, was definitely regretting my choices at 4am when I realised I had another 12 hours to go!
Thanks a lot mate, surprisingly only saw maybe a handful more than once over the full 24 hours. Worth the effort with kind words like that, cheers 👍🏻
Great video Luke, Tamworth certainly kept you on your toes. Dusty bin looked as it was going to take off with the freightliner thundering through, towards the end!
Haha I noticed that bin when editing and thought I was lucky not to be hit by it flying off! Cheers Chris, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Hi 👋🏻 Luke 😊 Thanks for enduring the cold weather to bring us this great video at Tamworth low level & High level station 👍🏻 I love doing all nighters in the late 70s early 80s BR blue waggon load freight trains 😊 Shame about the RM trains stopping especially just as Christmas 🎄 is coming 😫
Cheers mate, it must have been so busy back in that period! Huge pity mail on the withdrawal of mail (for the most part).
This is great thanks Luke - such a busy place. Been through there many times but never stopped. Maybe on next UK visit. Look fwd to Part 2, thanks again. Cheers Marty
Cheers Marty, definitely worth a stop for a couple of hours if you get chance!
Fantastic video from my home station! Never done a 24 hr session although i live not too far away but great to see some nocturnal activity!
Thanks Paul, it'd be handy to be able to nip home to go to the loo or grab a bite to eat haha
It all went very quiet and eerie, what with the fog coming down. Great video Luke.
Thanks mate, yeah gave a real moodiness to the night!
Great to see some 90s on the containers, didn’t know Tamworth was so busy! Keep up the good work!
Cheers Rob, it must be one of the busiest in the country, barely any time to even sit down haha
That video was put together so well, and congratulations on making it half way!
Thanks very much mate, appreciate that!
So worth the wait a big thanks Luke appreciated your commitment to give us the best footage.what a variety.!!great to see wrong line working southbound.?never seen that before.!!👏👏🥃 at least you got your daily steps in!😂

@ 😂😂😂👏👏
great shots from trains running simultaneous on both levels
Cheers David, those were tough to try and catch!
Excellent video luke hats off to you for up and down the stairs great conditions early morning aswell with the mist and fog rolling in unusual to do a whole 12 hours and not see a light loco great variety aswell looking forward to part 2
Thanks a lot mate, I thought the same thing! I won't spoil it but the second 12 hours chucked out a nice tick for that box 👍
Hats off to your stamina and fortitude over the 24 hours! Looking forward to part 2. The video and sound quality are very good, makes it a joy to watch. Doing well on the bingo card for half way through too!
Thanks very much David, really appreciate that!
Another cracking collection Luke, the dropping mist added a great feel and the movement triggered lighting was almost as if you'd planned it. well done
Thanks a lot mate, was a bit disappointed when the mist came in, until I saw the results on video haha
Another high quality video, those 2 hours between 2 and 4am looked brutal with the mist. Binging parts 1&2, cheers.
Cheers mate, everything got absolutely soaked in that mist without me realising. Always the toughest part of the stint in those early hours.
Part one done , you deserve a medal , great captures but boy it looks cold . Can't wait for 2nd installment.
Cheers Brian, it was surprisingly more mild than it looked to be honest. The 6 layers helped a bit though haha
Great video as always and good work Luke. Looking forward to Part 2. Interesting to know that the station is open 24 hours for future reference.
Thanks a lot mate, yeah access to all platforms overnight and the heater was left on in the waiting rooms which was nice haha
Cracking video as it's my home station Tamworth can be very busy. To watch both levels for movements use Railcam maps 👍🏻👌🏻
My home station too . Excellent place.
Damn never thought to check railcam 🤦🏻♂️ wasn’t too bad on opentraintimes though to be honest, only things I missed were on purpose to catch something else.
Must be great to pop down for a couple of hours 👌🏻
@@DiggleJunction The WCML is quite busy on a Saturday too
Great vid Luke, it's certainly a great location.
I foresee ten thousand subscribers very soon, you really deserve it and it's down to your dedication and hard work.
Thanks Lisa that really means a lot. Very grateful that people seem to enjoy this hobby of mine!
Bloody brilliant luke it looks so cold that's a long night mate..
Thanks a lot mate, it wasn't actually quite as cold as it looked! Learnt from the last ones to make sure I'm wrapped up to the eyeballs no matter what the forecast says though!
Tamworth station for a container fest. Another excellent video from the Diggle Junction collection. Looking forward to viewing part 2.
Thanks a lot mate, container fest is bang on! Just glad there was some other stuff in between to mix it up!
This is fantastic, what a great video! I particularly love the low level platform lights coming on as the train approaches.
Thanks a lot mate, that was a nice surprise for me too 👍
Great selection of traffic, thanks for braving the cold
Thanks a lot Bill, weirdly it looked colder than it actually was with all that fog. I did have about 6 layers on mind you 😂
Many thanks for yet another top notch video, can't wait for part two. The volume of traffic is incredible, with the bingo sheet almost complete already. Keep up the great work Luke.
Will have to come up with separate bingo sheets for both parts next time we do this section of the West Coast haha. Thanks a lot Ian 👍
Some fantastic catches in that atmospheric weather. Cheers for sharing 👍🏼
Thanks a lot mate, really happy with how those came out but was miserable to film in haha
Such another fantastic video, your a star getting the footage for us to see. Looked liked fun indeed
Thanks a lot Robert, much appreciated mate 👍
Great stuff again Luke, good variety of workings, and the shots of fast freight trains in the dark looming out of the fog were just spectacular! Thanks for putting yourself through the torture - especially when you have to run up & down stairs! Looking forward to part two!
Haha thanks as always mate, those stairs were murder! My watch told me I climbed 90 flights of stairs in the 24 hours!
I've been eagerly waiting for this and I wasn't disappointed...simply brilliant is all I can say. The mix of freight was mind blowing as was switching between low and high level. I can't wait for part 2 😎
Thanks a million Anna, it's been a long time coming so I'm glad it didn't disappoint, part 2 might actually be even better!
Good effort with all those steps!
Thanks mate, still feeling it two weeks later haha
Fantastic video Luke, Tamworth looks like somewhere I need to visit since I love the class 66 😅
Cheers James, ohhhh yeah if you love a shed, you'd be in heaven there!
Great video love it i did 24 hours at crewe in the 90s 36 hours up started at Skegness to crewe then back to Skegness
Bloody hell that’s a stint! Bet it was great doing it at Crewe back in the 90’s. All the electrics on the passenger stuff as well, brilliant.
Excellent coverage loving the 70's. Thank you for a great presentation.
Thanks a lot David, you and me both mate 👍
Wow Luke what a first part, awesome video as per usual, looks super cool with the lighting & fog, also lols a chilly night too, thanks for sharing, looks super cool forward too part 2, 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks a lot Mark, I was a bit miffed off at the fog at first but soon changed my tune when I saw how cool the shots looked 👍🏻
@@DiggleJunctionwell a fantastic video 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Luke for another great video. The night shots in the mist are wonderful.
Thanks Ruth, pretty happy with how those came out I must say, despite the fact the mist absolutely soaked all my stuff through! Haha.
Great first half of the trip. You'll have to add some extra things to the bingo sheet at this rate. Maybe a new mini game too, guess the total number of sheds by the end of part 2. My guess 67
That's a great idea mate, I've still not counted the sheds from part 2 but I bet you're not too far off!
Great stuff. That night time mist made for some lovely footage. :)
Cheers Tim, really pleased with how those shots came out.
Quality filming and great mix of freight. My first time of viewing your stuff but will not be my last😊😊
Thanks very much Andy, very much appreciated 👍
What a fantastic video as always on your 24hrs adventures.

Fair play to you luke, not summat I would do these days ,great vid, looking forward to part 2.
Cheers Howard, always tough but they always make a great vid 👍🏻
Great video, at least you got some proper double headers this time and not one light engine in the first 12 hours. Roll on next week for part 2.
Thanks mate, hard to believe on the light engine, usually one of the first I get!
Nice one Luke . Tamworth certainly didn’t disappoint. And what a beautiful sunset it was
Thanks Les, hopefully worth the wait. Very fortunate with the weather (well apart from the fog that soaked all my gear through!)
What a superb video youre a credit to your profession, look forward to part 2.
Thanks a lot Peter, this is just a hobby but much appreciated 👍
Brilliant stuff. Some great variety and atmospheric night scenes.
Thanks a lot mate 👍

@ Love it 😃 It was the tripod too looked like a pair of skies. Take care and have a great day.

Yes it was all the sleepers and mail train had a lot of instant coffee cup you just ad water used the shuter cabin at the end of the platform

Definitely one of the places most worth doing an extended stint at mate 👍
Really enjoy your videos
Cheers pal 👍🏻
Great part 1 video, Luke. Will you be wearing more layers in part 2 😂
Haha funnily enough, yes! 😂
Technically the Sandite train is Top n Tailed. Which you could have as a Brucie bonus.
Haha cheers mate, I mentioned it in passing in the intro but it's double-headed or top n tailed just couldn't fit both in the box 👍
Excellent as usual. Looking forward to part 2!
Cheers Kevin! 👍
Brilliant video absolutely love Tamworth. You videos are amazing, keep going!!!
Thanks a lot Owen, appreciate that mate 👍
