What a great interviewee! Elliot clearly, chronologically, and comprehensively, explains his story, his profession, his song wrting methodology, and the wider context of his industry. Very informative - thanks Dodge for organising, recording, and publishing.
Dodge makes it about the guests and lets them speak but also asks the questions we all want to ask and times them brilliantly .. not his own ego like so many podcasts and thats what makes him the best about. Another brilliant interview 👏
Dodge, you have a new Sub. And Example has a new fan. While not fully my style of music, I can appreciate his talent with melody. As one of those Irishmen who lived in London in the 80's, I know the streets of Fulham well (The Wellington was one of the battle cruisers I frequented) which adds to my understanding of Example's youth. He's such an appreciative grateful guy and the information he passed along here is worth it's weigh in Gold. This is a great interview Dodge, which I have now come to expect from your channel, and any aspiring musician/DJ/rapper needs to listen to this. Let Example's "example" sink in, as you're not going to hear what he's saying in any other music college or on any business degree. Banger!
Not been a massive supporter of his music over the years but what a great episode and top bloke. Fascinating insight into his journey and the industry as a whole
What a great interview! Always thought I hated Example, I know he gets a load of shit but each interview he does I like him more. Really honest bloke, respect the hussle he had to make it. Bravo 👏
I’m remember being an early example fan. Even before ‘So many roads’ and his other tunes. He was great. He adapted for the longevity. Many British rappers never got any plaudits at that time. 2005, Kano (who I thought was with Mike Skinner too), done home sweet home, best album at the time and never took off mainstream. Respect to him for having the careers he’d had. He’s a nice guy it seems too
Awesome guy, I saw him in Leeds probably 12 years ago with Ed Sheeran selling signed CD's from a cardboard box on stage. Amazing to see how far they have both come.
Wow, that was the most fascinating, interesting and inciteful interview ever and such an amazing journey Elliot’s been on! He’s also such a genuine guy! We first saw him at The Big Chill in 2011 and were looking forward to seeing him at Loosefest in Newcastle yesterday but it was sadly cancelled! Our daughter has just been signed on a record deal and so we’ll encourage her to listen to this interview, it’s got so much helpful content. Thanks Dodge - Elliot
I love Elliotts energy on stage and can't wait to actually see him and his stage presence. Gutted i missed him at Kendal Calling 😏 great interview on someone abit different.
Very eloquent, honest, interesting and engaging. Never been a huge fan of his music, but bloody hell have a huge amount of respect 🤍 Absolutely fantastic! Subbed, and so excited for more episodes really great work, love your style! Giving your guests room to talk, share their truth and be engaging!
I saw this fella at Rock City in Nottingham, and I can say the way he looked like he was enjoying it more than the crowd (which they were) it was infectious and made it a great gig🇬🇧👊🏼
Don't normally comment on public RUclips things. But have watched about 15 of your videos now @Dodge and I've enjoyed everyone! I love the laid back and honest style you use, keep up the good work 👏🏻 This one was very good what a nice and humble guy he is.
Found EG through myspace back in the day and loved the rap stuff! I was so young then that I didn’t even realise my favourite tune “Me and Mandy” was about drugs 😳 Was abit gutted when I was at uni in 2011 and every club was rinsing the newer songs but glad to hear there’s new stuff on the way - gonna do a deep dive back on the new album.
This is a great new podcast for me! Can’t believe I e just stumbled upon it today and I’m 3 in already at work! Very interesting and inspirational guests, intelligent interviewer who is inspirational in his own right. Great stuff and look forward to catching up with all episodes 🎉🤘
This is the fourth of your podcasts I’ve listened to in a few days , you’ve got the knack of this and a good eclectic mix of guests from what I can see so far , I see you getting a lot more attention very very soon it’s well made stuff and you make it seem effortless which it’s not and the guests are just spilling guts 😂 soon be 100k and then the rest will follow ☄️
Fair play Dodge what an interview,we all love the dark side of life, guns?drugs ect but I found this interview really interesting n what goes on in the music industry,n you can tell he's just a normal lad very humble,n genuine great guest Dodge, loved it another great podcast keep em coming, your Leeds bro D👊💙
Great hearing his story. He was great on the vocals of his songs, but i always liked his rapping too, i think his verse on game over (w/ tinie tempah, pro green, giggs, devlin) was the best. Always knew he was super talented from that, but it's great hearing how he evolved his style. Makes much more sense now.
I've been into music since I was a kid and do a bit of music journalism from time to time for print and online sites. I loved hearing about the numbers as it's generally all hidden away and not discussed. I can see why the record companies don't want anyone talking about it. Elliot is wise beyond his years, and didn't get sucked into contracts like many others do. Many years ago I interviewed Idles and they were on the up....and suddenly they has record companies wanting to sign them. They declined as they had done all the hard work themselves and they just didn't need a record deal by then. I've tried to give Example a listen again but it really isn't for me. A lovely bloke non the less.😎😎
Really good interview and a real down to earth guy! Really interesting to hear about how the music industry worked a few years ago and how it works now 👍
Loved this podcast, deep insight the the how the money is shared in the industry or robbed by the record labels, example is a good bloke n has put the grind into get where he’s at n his wife is banging too lol
Really appreciate the black and white here, proper down to earth bloke. I wish more high cailbre people would openly talk about finances its not arrogant its interesting as f#ck
Great interview didn’t realise Elliot was still making music and what a top bloke! Added to my Spotify favourites. Interesting about radio, seems lost most execs are clueless. Radio is dying because corporate interest is more important than the music.
There’s 100+ more episodes on our Eventful Lives Podcast on Spotify or Apple, that aren’t on our RUclips channel. 👇

My pleasure Callum and I loved Elliot’s honesty about everything!
Good man :-)

This podcast Should have 10x the subscribers it has. Such a relaxed but educational podcast channel. Keep up the work Dodge.
Much appreciated and glad you enjoyed 🙏👍🏼
Brilliant interviewer - asks the right questions at the right time, lets Elliot talk, clarifies things he and the audience might not get
Nice one Nick and thanks for your feedback 👍🏼👍🏼

Example had some bangers for a min. He was dominating the charts then all of a sudden just seemed to disappear.
Looking forward to hearing his story 🥂
Not been a massive supporter of his music over the years but what a great episode and top bloke. Fascinating insight into his journey and the industry as a whole
Absolutely top class interview..this is the best expose of that scene i've ever seen

Brilliant as usual great insight into the industry. Loved his story of him and his wife then read they split so sad.
I was there for roses, noel and example at V. Crowd was bouncing and I'd dropped 2 batteries just before example came on. Them we're the days 💊
