Love everything about this video ❤ I took Ryan's songwriting class 2 years back, wrote my best song yet, it's gotten 200k on Spotify, quit my job to focus on music full time and I'm still going. I'm scraping by, literally no idea how I'm going to pay rent, but I'm doing what I love doing and praying it works out. Would love for him to hear that song! (it's called "Seven Kisses")
Amazing! So happy you enjoyed it, Sean! I took Ryan’s class several years back too. My favorite class on the whole monthly (now studio) platform. He really did a great job and I made one of my fav songs during the class as well. Wish you the best man! Will check out the song too!! 🔥 💯
@@DanielsWall I really loved that class too - I don't know if I just lucked out, but my group were super supportive. I'm still in touch with some of my classmates and wrote songs with two of them already. Which song was your fav from the class? I'll go have a listen! Also loved your vid with Julia Michaels - great work! 😊
He should be even more popular than he is. One Republic is such a great talent collectively. Drummer, guitarist, bass etc. Ryan is a force with the pen and his melodies. I truly enjoy listening to their music. There is not a song l do not like. I have songs of theirs that mean something to me. I lived for one. I grew up in a small town where a girl l went to school with, died at 16 of cystic fibrosis. She was a very nice person.
It’s crazy how underrated they both are! Ryan one of the biggest songwriters in the world OneRepublic is the 4th most streamed group and band on Spotify (behind Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, and Maroon 5) happy you enjoyed the interview! Excited for you to see more 💯
The interview was awesome. I liked the fact that Ryan, whom that I am fan of, tells the truths about the industry and doesn't just create an unrealistic rosy picture. Looking forward to more interviews with Ryan in the upcoming years.
Thank You R A - completely agree, Ryan broke down a lot of the pieces of the industry in ways I’ve never seen or heard. Grateful for how much he shared about the music industry 🙌
As someone who is a behind the scenes creative himself, these videos add an insane amount of value. Please continue to post these interviews. The knowledge that these people drop is priceless.
Lot of insight and gold here. thank you very much! Ryan is 100% right here, when he says the streams don't mean much. Because writers were never at the bargaining table between spotify and record companies. As a writer myself, I've had a handful of songs that have 8 digit streams. The sad thing is, 1 million views on youtube equate to about $63.85 USD in royalties directly to me as the composer. 1 million views is not a small number, but the idea that the royalties would barely cover a celebrating dinner with my other half is sad. Where the royalties are at, are radio, TV, and performance (especially at concerts). I've also felt that writing has become much more difficult in the last few years, with tiktok and reels, songs become more about marketing sensations than music melodies/stories. Hearing how even Ryan Tedder is needing to write 5x more songs to get only part as much success he got 5-10 years ago, lets me know, I'm not alone.
THIS INTERVIEW IS A GODSEND, Ryan is so informative and I just love this channel so much. THANK YOU! If you ever wanted to interview an independent artist making music videos, producing, and touring - I'd love to do that. I think that'd be an interesting perspective - spotlighting unsigned artists and how their hustle differs from established artists. Big hug 🫂💙🪬
Incredible interview, one of the best I've seen. You actually let the artist talk and finish answering the question. The questions you ask are great too and I'd love to see more of these
This is awesome. Love Ryan. That comment about there being no age limit kind of just gave me some comfort. 29 with 2 kids, gave up for a while, now I want to pursue again. Takes some of the pressure off mentally. Thanks for these interviews keep on doing it man!!!
Thank you CJ! So happy these interviews are connecting and inspiring you! Completely agree about the age piece - amazing to hear that even though it’s more “difficult” to have success now, it’s amazing that as long as you keep going, you’ll be closer to the goal than you were before
Loved this video, there’s something about Ryan that I find very entertaining, the way he talks so eloquently, like he doesn’t even think what to say, it all just come out so naturally. The way he has an answer for everything instantly, so wise. And also the way he tells every story, like one of those teachers at school you loved to hear them because of the passionate way the tell everything. Very good video ❤
I always knew Ryan and OneRepublic in general were huge monsters in the industry, but i didn't know they were that big. Amazing person and incredibly talented man. Great interview
Thank you Benjamin!! OneRepublic is the 4th biggest group or band on Spotify right now which is amazing! Ryan is one of the biggest songwriters in the world, crazy!!
Wow!!!! This honestly means the world! I went on this journey to show the behind the scenes of music and I’m so happy you’re all going on that journey with me!
Love Ryan, and love OneRepublic. Seen them a couple times in concert, and its always a good time. His voice is amazing, he's an underrated talent (and the entire band is IMO) and honestly their music is just fun and energetic. Great interview.
As he started listing his first big hits, I realized that all his songs were a part of me falling in love with specific parts of music; and it's all parts he played in. Tedder is King.

Ryan Tedder is one of my favourite songwriters and I love onerepublic’s music edit: I’m glad he admitted that he was super embarrassed to tell anybody because that’s the same way I am as a musician with singing😂
Man this is awesome. Honestly feel like we are sitting on the couch hanging. Keep this vibe/format/whatever !been watching you since you began - I am the same brother and enjoy how you take the extra effort in your comparisons and weave in some story and context. I love how egoless he is. He’s stoked to have made his achievements even if a lot of them are “behind the scenes”. Not just a pop star ego. So refreshing…
Amazing Interview! One of the best I have ever seen. The questions were so perfect, unique and I didn't get the impression that he had answered it a thousand times before. Also I love that it feels like a "real" conversation from two people with the same passion. Ryan Tedder is my favorite Songwriter ever and this interview just confirmed my decision! Thanks so much Daniel!
Wow, thank you John! I hope one day we can impact over 100,000 people with this video, but as long as it’s impacting people that want to go behind the wall with us, that’s all the matters! 💯 🔥 ♥️
Hi Daniel, i don’t know if you’ll be able to read this message but I just wanna throw a huge shoutout for doing such an incredible job. You are actually paving the way to all aspiring creatives and music-enthusiast that it is possible to meet and sit down with great artists, producers, songwriters and talented performers, then unveil their inspiring stories towards success, hurdles and rising back again. I have learned so much from Ryan and to you as well. Ryan Tedder is one of the most talented human beings in the world whom I really looked up to. Very passionate to his craft and inspirational. Thank you for this interview! Respect! 🎉
I enjoyed every second of this video 😍 I loved the part that Ryan said about age, funny thing is that I was only 26 and my friend told me that your time is ticking and your golden age is gone now! When your 30 no one wants to listen to you and you have to get married and raise kids instead! So, Thank you for making videos like this 💖

Amazing interview. Ryan is an amazing composer, producer and vocalist and he has created incredible songs for OneRepublic and a lot of artists 🫶🏼✨ Of course his sound has been a big influence on us at the moment of starting music

Fantastic interview. Rhyan always has so much wisdom. Some things he says that completely completely freaked me out and other things that totally inspire me.
I like the fact that Ryan keeps re-inventing the way OneRepublic sounds. You really can expect new music from every new album they’re gonna release, it’s never the same. Plus, his voice has an amazing range (5 octaves), it’s incredible how he’s capable to hit the keys even when performing live, jumping and running around almost all the time! And he’s a genuinely nice human being, that’s why I wish him all the best, even if he does stupid things, sometimes… like having a decent haircut, finally again - but spoiling it at the same time by bleaching it 😂 Much ❤ for the upload and even more ❤❤❤ for RT!
@DanielsWall Thank you so much for this interview! Ryan Tedder and the music of OneRepublic has changed me as a person. It's hard to explain it but an over abundance of emotion runs through my body and soul when I listen. Embarrassing but I can't help it when the tears pour out. Love doesn't even begin to describe it, but something similar lol I love your interviews so keep them coming! I love your story, it is proof that dreams really do come true in this Wild Life we all live ❤ Oh @SeanFraye my favorite is "Better on You"!! So f'n great!! New follower here too 💖
He is EXTREMELY UNDERRATED as an individual. OneRepublic is not overrated obviously but so many people dont even know what is Ryan Tedder when they hear that name but sometimes its a road to success. Some people master their craft much better when they are "under the radar" .
All I want to do is to give Ryan a big hug, he is the greatest song writer in the world, and he is so down to earth, if I had any money I would of given him it when he was starting out, and he is great with the fans and the presenter he is talking too is lovely to .The saddest thing is when he was talking about the past, he talks so passionately, I will love one Republic forever. ❤❤❤😂
Ryan Tedder, the legend! One of my favorite humans and such a huge inspiration to me. I been waiting for this video since your teases on insta months back and you delivered- awesome interview, Daniel 👏🏽👏🏽 Love how you're shining a light on these incredible people behind the scenes (and also roasting Ryan's tiktok because he totally deserved that 😂). Keep up the amazing work! And we're going to easily achieve that 75k for you cause you deserve it 😌 Looking forward to future episodes 🙌🏽
Your comment means the world and having you along for the journey is amazing, Skeletonpuppets!! Appreciate your support always and excited for you to see more! 🎉🎉 I’m glad the interview delivered!! There was a ton of pressure on this because I respect Ryan and OneRepublic so much - wanted to make sure I did right by him. And 75k on the way (that video should be going up soon 😊)
I love this interview. Congrats Daniel in your new career field. Ryan Tedder is one of the most talented artists I have ever enjoyed listening to. Appreciate the humility in being very open to tell his story. Very good. Big ups 👍
hey man, i am beyond proud of you for making this video. they say "you can do whatever you set your mind to" and that is exactly what you did with this video. i stan ryan tedder every day, and its incredible to see a fan interview him the way you did and to hear this wonderful man's story. Keep grinding and don't give up, God loves you. Take care✌✌
❤ Get well Ryan, sending Prayers, love and hugs too you. And thank you for letting your band's members talked, and introduce themselves too us. Since you down they need the experience. Right, Right. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really love his music. I think I saw him a really long time ago performing at City Walk in Orlando but it was him alone and he didn’t even see me or look at me. To be honest I am not sure if that was him, it was years ago. His music is so meaningful and not about sex or drugs which I do appreciate so much. I wonder if he’s friendly, I would like to meet him but I don’t know if he will like me lol
Great interview! I've been a fan of Ryan & OneRepublic for years. Great writer, singer, awesome band & all around great people. I wish them all the success in the world! Congrats to you as well Daniel! I'm glad to see the success you've accomplished with all your hard work! Keep it up & keep shooting for the moon kiddo! You're doing awesome!! Best of luck in the future as well! ✌✊💪👍😊
Ryan is super inspiring! Every time I hear a one republic song the lyrics resonate with me so deeply that I want to find out more about their journey. I’ve been searching for an interview to watch and finally here it is! Thank you for sharing ❤

This was a legitimately enjoyable interview with great questions. I didn't find out Ryan wrote Bleeding Love and Halo, etc., until I saw his performance at Pinkpop.
Thank you for making this video man. You asked very good questions that allowed Ryan to express himself comfortably, helping us to see the real him. Great job
Ryan, you are an inspiration, I knew you'd be a star the first time I heard you sing. Your drive to succeed and to be the best at your craft is amazing and I applaud you. Thanks for sharing about ageism being gone in the musical landscape, that gives me hope yet!
Awesome video. I took Ryan's class about two years back, learned a lot. I am yet to publish a song (personal reasons), but I am confident that he gave me enough tools to do so!
Loved his class too - took it several years back and learned a ton - best class on the platform (imo). Link your song on this comment thread when you release it, event if it’s in a few years 😊 I’ll check it out
Great interviewer and interviewee!! Learned a lot and stayed glued. I don’t know how this came on my algorithm but I am going to look up Ryan’s songwriting class. Hadn’t looked up anything songwriting on RUclips but thought it!
Thanks for having these interview. Even as a non music person, its so inspiring to hear that even the most successful person in our eyes have times where he wants to quit
I love this podcast. My biggest inspirations since starting to sing and write songs in 2017 have been Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, and Dave from glass animals. It’s so cool to hear from Ryan about his journey!
Great interview!! Always knew Ryan was going to be successful. Went to One Republic concert in 2017 in Camden, NJ over the bridge from Philadelphia and I was so impressed that I will never forget. I am so grateful that I got to see this interview and to have Ryan open up about his challenges and how he got successful by perseverance and determination. 🌟❤️🙏
"Don't be afraid to try stuff" I've been doing this for 10+ years wondering what if/if nots and now I have a song with Disney legend Drew Seeley! So even though I still haven't made it, I'm definitely one step closer. So to those at the start of the journey, don't stop!!

Great video with some amazing trade secrets. I love how he broke down the difference between music now and music then. I hope all the smash hits he wrote that are rejected now come out someday!!!
Thank you Naomi! I think that’s the beauty of Ryan’s story - most people know the hits but don’t know how many songs get rejected as a songwriter. Sometimes though, a song that gets rejected just hasn’t found the right home yet 😊

He is EXTREMELY UNDERRATED as an individual. OneRepublic is not overrated obviously but so many people dont even know what is Ryan Tedder when they hear that name but sometimes its a road to success. Some people master their craft much better when they are "under the radar" .
He should get more credit for his talent, Ryan is amazing ❤
That's the goal of Behind The Wall - hoping to allow songwriters and people who work behind the scenes to be seen more and get more credit! :)
Ryan the goat!! Great interview y’all. Love your channel.
Thank you Ben!! 🔥 excited to put out more episodes 😊
Take care✌✌
Appreciate you matthew!!! Glad Ryan's story continues to connect with so many people and happy this video connected with you :)
@@DanielsWall amen, brother, I thank you 🙏👍😎
It’s absolutely insane how much he has done and I had no idea. TikTok brought me here, so hoping you get that 75K!
Do t think so!!
Restored & powerful!!
Blessed & highly favored!!
❤ Get well Ryan, sending Prayers, love and hugs too you. And thank you for letting your band's members talked, and introduce themselves too us. Since you down they need the experience. Right, Right. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved this - can’t believe I missed this channel - great authentic conversation here 👏
I really love his music.
As a songwriter, this is the best video I have seen in a long time - thanks for this!!
Love this interview! Great to hear Ryan being so raw and open, learnt a lot!
Never heard of daniels wall but i love ryan tedder and one republic so much. This video was epic. Thanks

Amazing again Daniel - super insightful and heaps to take out of this for aspiring writers + artists!
Appreciate you Carda!! Glad you feel its connecting :)
Ryan is super inspiring! Every time I hear a one republic song the lyrics resonate with me so deeply that I want to find out more about their journey. I’ve been searching for an interview to watch and finally here it is! Thank you for sharing ❤
Love the way Ryan is imitate people lol But i've never imagined Ryan to imitate Chris, that was really sweet cuz they are my favourite artists too. Thank you for such a cool and deep conversation and good luck with those challenges, can't wait to see it
Ryan's impressions are crazy! His benny blanco one is so good! Ryan and Chris are also some of my biggest inspirations too :)
Thanks for the love and support. Have you ever been to my concert?

This is absolutely 💯 amazing. What an incredible video. Ryan is brilliant when he speaks about muscle memory and his impressions are so fun!!! You do a remarkable job in these videos. Thank you for your talent, creativity and videos. Looking forward to these exciting next journeys. ❤❤❤
I have new found respect for Ryan. This was a great professional interview from start to finish, well done.
Ryan Tedder, what an ABSOLUTE beast of a songwriter and a music legend!!!!
This was a legitimately enjoyable interview with great questions. I didn't find out Ryan wrote Bleeding Love and Halo, etc., until I saw his performance at Pinkpop.
Unfiltered conversation Interviews are interesting and really good💫🙌more of this would be great💫🌟Ryan is so natural🌻✌️🌟
Thank you for making this video man. You asked very good questions that allowed Ryan to express himself comfortably, helping us to see the real him. Great job
Aside from his creativity what makes him such a force is his keen awareness of the landscape from a business sense. Great video!
Ryan comes across as a really lovely man! Thank you for uploading this.
Ryan, you are an inspiration, I knew you'd be a star the first time I heard you sing. Your drive to succeed and to be the best at your craft is amazing and I applaud you. Thanks for sharing about ageism being gone in the musical landscape, that gives me hope yet!
Thank you very much Sir for making this talk, really motivating so much.. especially when Ryan said that, "effort and work beats out talent 100%.." ❤
Awesome video. I took Ryan's class about two years back, learned a lot. I am yet to publish a song (personal reasons), but I am confident that he gave me enough tools to do so!
Loved his class too - took it several years back and learned a ton - best class on the platform (imo). Link your song on this comment thread when you release it, event if it’s in a few years 😊 I’ll check it out
@@DanielsWall I certainly will!
Yesss to the demo version of XO. That’s also one of my fav Beyoncé songs. Would love to hear Ryan’s demo.
I hope he ends up putting it out 😊 he seems to have talked about wanting to release it for a minute nown
Awesome Interview! Best Musical Regards from Germany 🎶✨✌🏻🙂
Wow that was an amazing interview with so much honesty and humility. Great job Mr. Wall
Incredible interview, it is so helpful for emerging upcoming artists to fully understand what it takes to hopefully make it these days.
I love this podcast. My biggest inspirations since starting to sing and write songs in 2017 have been Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, and Dave from glass animals. It’s so cool to hear from Ryan about his journey!
Glad you love it! Many more episodes on the way!!
Thanks for the love and support. Have you ever been to my concert?
Literally was feeling low about this music thing
Needed this interview thank u🙏
I enjoyed every minute of this interview. Very great 👍🏻
"Don't be afraid to try stuff" I've been doing this for 10+ years wondering what if/if nots and now I have a song with Disney legend Drew Seeley! So even though I still haven't made it, I'm definitely one step closer. So to those at the start of the journey, don't stop!!
Hey Daniel!! Been following what you’ve been doing… and this video was such a great insight into both your and Ryan’s lives.
Thanks for doing this!!
Thank you Raj! This means a ton - excited for you to see more!!!! 😊 Got some fun people in store
@@DanielsWallello daniel i'm a songwriter and i adore ryan tedder,i know he wants to work with other songwriters and i know he will love to work with me,i inspierd by him so much i have two songs that i made becouse of him or becouse of his songs,i wrote my sucide song "it's too late" after hearing appolagize and my song "angel" inspired by his song "halo", i wish i could meet him and play to him my songs he will love it for sure❤

So much good info Throughout the whole video thank you for this.
Great interview! I'm now a fan of both you and Ryan
thank you for this, i dont feel too old for the industry anymore, great video :)
Glad this helped you :)
I'm loving this interview, fantastic questions and such in depth answers from Ryan, I love this format! ❤
So glad I watched this interview… Thanks for sharing this! It was inspiring, insightful, & well done. Many thanks!!
Really enjoyed this guys!! Much love from Scotland 🏴
Great podcast! Thank you!

I’m a Ryan Tedder and One Republic fan. Great interview and look behind the music.
