"Newtype city" might have been remade into Olivine city, seeing as it too was a port town, with literally a new type of Pokemon as the gym's theme. It just sounds like a placeholder name. If that's the case then the idea of steel as a type was probably a late one.
Imagine if we did get Gen 2's Nihon Region as intended. Including Gen 4 mons like Arceus on Mt. Silver. And if decades later we got Legends Arceus set in ancient Nihon where people settled in from Poke-Korea and Poke-China? How'd that have been like?
Tottori could also be for the Tottori Sand Dunes in Japan, near or in the same region johto is based on. Side note, I just found out Japan has a desert
There's an old gen 1 map consept which shows the towns labeled with numbers and an island labeled "C". This island seems to be in the direction the SS Anne was travelling to (at least from my memory). There was even a cut map I remember seeing which was, what looked like an island.
Imagine what would've been like if we got Lost City as a post-game location? With a Battle Frontier in it(but without restrictions like removing Exps, Healing Items, or setting levels to 50)?
11:57 reminds me of the Pokemon Brown Rom Hack town puzzle before going to the Rijon League. I hope someone makes a full fledged rom hack of the space world demo. There is so much stuff that has been lost and scrapped which makes it worth to become standalone game by itself.
I hope someone with the drive creates a massive fan game with all the missing towns appropriately placed to play through and makes everything have a function. And gets it playable as a rom on GBC or GBA.
@HoopsandHipHop Nice suggestion on Tottori having been a possible location for Faulkner's gym but I think this was more of a reference to the Tottori sand dunes in Japan. Given the desert setting you mentioned and both the location in real life and in the game sharing the same name.
There weren't more island planned. The shown maps were planned as routes as part of Four Island. I checked the maps and if you look at the map where the routes are located, you see they go west and east from Four Island with 3 Dungeon marks.
move the cave on the old version over to the top middle, then remove the mid-right building and the lower-left building, and you end up with the diagonal cross with an earthen feature up top. from there you swap buildings around and nudge them slightly into place ... "nearly identical" is definitely an exaggeration but it's roughly there
In regards to Route 225's theme, given that "06" number in its name, it looks like the theme was originally intended for the 6th town - much earlier than Route 225. Therefore, rather than the Route being originally a town, it seems it was the musical piece that was switched, from an early-to-midgame town, to a post-game route. In another note, concerning the lost Kanto town, we DO have more info than you mention: we know its possible location. There is an early map shown in concept art that does include one more town, lying south of Celadon and to the west of Vermilion, and it's labeled "C". It is worth noting though, that in this beta map, all towns are numbered except this one which has a letter instead, which makes it seem that even in this early stage, they didn't know what to do with it (also of note is that there are no routes leading to it, it just lies in the middle of an otherwise empty space), hence why it got scrapped.
It's crazy to me that Jasmine's gym/arc felt half empty in the final game, yet there was so much content cut... I know she was previously a rock gym leader and there's a reason for her gym being empty (I think you mentioned why in one of your past videos), but I can't help but think how awesome it would of been if they added more to it given they cut so much in regards to location, even if they did it in HGSS, still my favourite games either way though, and I loved Jasmine's appearance in Sunyshore City
“Sato” also means “village”, although the katakana just reads the Japanese pronounciation of “sugar”. Was it written as “シユガ” in the data or as “さと” or “砂糖”?🤔 Tottori is also a city in japan famous for having sand dunes. Aomori (Blue forest) is another real life place.
In the Gundam series, Newtypes are a mutation of baseline humans that have psychic powers. That being said, maybe Newtype City would have housed the psychic-type gym.
about the kanto town that is in the code, there have actually been a few leaks about it, with it being placed south of Celadon, and west of Vermillion, as noted on helixchamber
Maybe that's where the SS Anne was going to take you before they decided; actually we are waiting for you to get the heck outta here so we can set sail.
Heads up: All the Japanese you show on screen does not say what you say it does in Japanese. For example, when you mention Satou, the Japanese doesn't say "satou", it says "shugaa", which is the English word "sugar" transliterated in Katakana. This happens with Newtype as well.
Basically, if Johto wasn't 'so small' we probably wouldn't have had Hoenn or Sinnoh, I really like the stuff the Beta had as well as what it could have had but I still love the final build of Gold and Silver.
just comes to show that even Johto was heavily rushed, though honestly I wish if they do want to have remakes, they include the stuff they cut cause that would make it even more interesting
5:12 Would it be? Looking at very old towns in Egypt, most notably Cairo, Luxor and Gizeh still being a town so many centuries later destroyed and or buried most of the historically interesting stuff. 13:33 It could also be that they realized that a location named "Schwarzwald" alias "Black Forest" actually exists in the real world and they didn't want that correlation.
I think its more likely the name "black forest" might have implied something to do with suicide forests, since the term is often used to denote darkness or evil. The whole yin/yan theme might have gave people the wrong idea.
I'm happy that Gold and Silver's game and map got simplified and just became Jotho as the new region. We got fully-pledged Hoenn and Sinnoh because of that decision.
10:33-10:38 the town's are named silent and Prince resembling to red as he is always silent and kind of like a Prince as he was the first ever protagonist and the only one who debuted in more generations than any other protagonist and everyone who plays pokemon knows him

What if all eight Japanese regions were released together in Gen 1? But as version-exclusive locations. Each with 250 unique mons(2,000 in all). And if the post-game location was Nihon as we go around fighting Gyms for the National League on Mt. Silver(where we battle opposite versions' protagonists for the "Pokemon Master" title)?
I just thought of something, I think I see a trend Gen 1 and 5 is a region with sea to the right, gen 2 and 6 region with sea to the left gen 3 and 7 is island and gen 4 and 8 are island with a snowy region will gen 9 be a region with sea to the right or connect to kalos?
I do sports cards and Pokémon cards I would advise against doing the sponsored message. If it’s not insured you can lose lots of money also this is not a popular thing among the hobby.
I do not see any resemblance to Snowpoint City there. Thats just a huge stretch to me. Nothing is in the right place, the shape isn’t right, the cut town doesn’t even have a gym
Really kind of bothered by the structure of this video. You call it 15 cut towns from Pokemon games, but almost all of them are only from GSC. And the very few that aren't are almost nothing. A town that's apparently in the data that you'd have been able to fly to with no Pokemon, but nothing is shown about it or known about it at all in Kanto. A brief mention of two "towns" that look more like the ideas were flipped and included in Unova. And two music tracks for a route with titles that suggest they were meant for a town in Sinnoh, but no evidence if its actually from a cut town or if its just repurposed music. And a bonus of unfinished islands with almost nothing known about them and believed to potentially have actually just been cut routes and not towns. And the fact they're pretty well all from Johto is even acknowledged before mentioning there's plenty more cut towns in other games and even more from Johto (before talking about yet another from Johto). It just makes me wonder if you're drastically exaggerating how many cut towns are known about and there really aren't any outside of Johto (again, that we know about), or if it would have been better to... idk... Make the video just about the ones from Johto, then do a separate video on these supposed "plenty of others" from other regions? Or plan to do multiple from various regions and split up the Johto ones more to fit more from other regions per video if there's that many more Johto ones than other regions.
