I am loving the T-60 so far. It has taken everything I've thrown at it! My biggest worry is all the electronics. I don't really like the idea of computer parts in my power tools.
You are not the first to complain about the paint job on this particular lathe, I know it’s just the paint job it just gripes your soul when you’ve got this 20 ton Bohemia setting in your shop and you really just wanna send it back but you know that’s not possible! Sorry I’m just rambling but what I did wanna say I could be wrong, but it looks to me as you have the old style to tool rest. I do know that is how they ship them at the beginning and then they upgrade it it’s even in their brochure That it has the Harden still rod so it won’t put dings in your cast-iron. They all Harvey boys they sure can make some sexy looking tools. I’m just glad to see the other side enjoying the view as well. Hey listen it’s a good machine. I have a few Harvey. No they’re not perfect. You’ll enjoy it. What really matters?
Thank you! Yea, I'm not too worried about the paint. It's a tool. I'm more sad about the scratches in the ways from a burr that was on the banjo. :( I just thought it was weird it chipped after one use. I don't even think the tool touched the paint. Maybe just from vibrations. Mine has the steel rod on top, so it shouldn't be touching the paint. 🤷🏻♀️ It is a great lathe so far. I wanted a Robust but can't justify that price. This was the best and closest to the Robust. I wanted a lathe that had weight to handle the bowls I want to turn. I was WAY bigger than i thought it would be! It was a chore getting it setup!
Congratulations on getting your new lathe! It is a bit exciting to get a new major piece of equipment like that. It will be interesting to hear what you think after completing a variety of projects on it.
I just today purchased a T60! I hope you are still happy with the purchase. I have a Record Power Coronet Herald 14 inch EVS Lathe but needed something bigger. I debated the T60 or a Rikon 30" x 40" VSR Lathe with Sliding Bed - Model: 70-3040. I finally settled on the T60. I really wanted the Robust American Beauty but just could not afford it. Regardless I can’t wait to get it in my shop.
I do still love it! I have had no issues what so ever yet. Well, I did forget to lock down the head stock at one point and couldn't figure out why my bowl kept coming loose. LOL Not used to a lathe being able to move the headstock!
It is really nice looking. I wanted weight, functionality, and durability. I looked at the Powermatic. I’m not all about looks, but just can’t do the baby poo yellow. 🤣
No, I didn't get the extension. I don't have enough room length wise. I'm not even using the whole bed as it is. But, I might decide to get it some day for outboard turning. Not really a need at the moment. :) I hope you get to use yours soon!
It doesn't matter if a motor is a servo motor or not, it will not give you 4Hp if its rated 2 Hp. It being a servo motor only means that a servo controller (like a Variable Frequency Drive / VFD) controls the rotational position of the motor from some sort of feedback like a encoder. What they probably mean from saying a "servo motor like in a cnc machine" is that it is not a asynchronous induction motor but a permanent magnet synchronous motor which are generally a little smaller for the same power but need a VFD to run.
Yea, That's kind of what I meant. LOL. They said something like it can give the same torque and power through knots without bogging down. We shall see. It's WAY more powerful than the tiny 12" 1/2hp I came from. Hahaha!
Yup! I remember buying a crftsman table saw and it advertised as : Develop 2 HP. 15 amps is 15 amps. Just as the saying goes, a big with lipstick, still a pig, not a hippopotamus!😂😂
Well I'm trilled with my Harvey T50, which I have had 4 years now. Best of luck and happy turning.

Thank you very much! It's been great so far. I will be doing more of a review later after I've played with it for a bit.

I think Harvey makes the best-looking lathes.

@@renaissancewoodworking Ha! Same here. When I finally bought a "real" lathe, yellow was ruled out very quickly.
@michaelogden5958 haha!
Did you get or are you considering getting the bed extension? I have not bought it yet but likely will.

A Standard Modern 19-80 is a beast...THAT is a toy
Well, yea. If you are making engines. This is a wood lathe. Compared to a Grizzly or Jet wood lathe of this size, this thing is gigantic.
@@renaissancewoodworking i was just kiddin...never seen a larger wood lathe 😀
Those metal lathes are pretty neat. It would be fun to use one.
How much?
Right now, it's $4099. www.harveywoodworking.com/collections/wood-lathes
