  • All Stars 2 was a great season, particularly because of all the gags that happened throughout. One of these gags was when Adore Delano, one of the most popular RuGirls ever, would walk out of the set after caving into the pressure of the competition. In this video, I wanted to go into all the factors that led up to Adore quitting All Stars 2, as well as giving her flowers for the amazing music career she had with her platform.

I loved Adore's drag because it was something you could get, she was letting you be part of her fantasy too, she was the accessible queen.
She would wear these cool-ass looks that you could get at the more high-end grunge stores and her makeup was always beat for the god, there was a relatability in her drag and it wasn't about being lazy or taking less time... Her vibe was chill, easy, fun, and party... I never expected a pageant gown from her and I was always happy to see her cool 90s looks.
Hope to see her in a future season, being 100% her with no apologises.

I think the ABCD group of s6 + the other queens created an environment that was truly fun for Adore. However, as2 was more cutthroat, people were harsher and more competitive, and that type of bond that she had with Bianca clearly wouldn't happen again there. Plus, judges being even harsher was also unexpected, because her charisma made them like her during s6, yet nothing stopped them from lashing out on her on as2. A jarring contrast that definitely played a part on her not being able to handle as2

I think that some of Raven’s comments about other queens and her part or support on all of this robbed queen narrative (Which ultimately not only offends the hard work of Tyra (who I know went too far against the fans and the franchise of Drag Race) to win season 2. But it also offends the hard work of Chad Michals, who is a legendary Drag Queen who deserves 7 crowns more) will come back and put her in trouble. I already feel some people is not liking her attitude a lot anymore.
Not saying anything. But I think that Raven has being harsh on some people. And Raven IS an icon. Raven is great. Raven is going to stay in the books of drag maybe forever.

She makes drag feel accessible; and it's not high art or high fashion, and it never has to be. Seeing queens who positively represent alt fashion movements like grunge and tumblr girl aesthetics is so important. Those aspects of femininity need to be celebrated and not erased.
Gatekeeping and erasure is a huge problem in alternative scenes that high-fashion queens sometimes play into. About 7 years ago, I went to see the BOTS tour. I live in a smaller city that might not be considered a “big gig” for.. well.. anyone, really. Adore was the only queen who came out before the show and interacted with fans in the line. I cherish a picture I have with her- she gave me a huge hug and was all smiles. She had no obligation to do it and nobody would have faulted anyone for not coming out before the show, but she did. And that meant a lot to fans.
It made me realize that her relationship with her supporters is something that goes beyond Drag Race. Drag Race got her the platform, of course, but I feel like she does drag the way she does to connect with people who are on the same wavelength as her. And that’s why it was so painful to have that critiqued. Because it was more than just a drag character- it was about representing the kids out there who feel like losers. Showing them there is a “fan-favorite” inside them too.
Sorry to wax poetic, but I really felt for Adore in the moment she left. Say what you will about it being the right decision or the wrong decision, but it is the one she made in that moment and it is one I definitely have sympathy for.

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion at all, but I find it so weird when fans get like, INDIGNANT when a drag queen uses common clothes or more """pedestrian""" drag. I totally get it if someone personally doesn't enjoy that aesthetic and so they don't want to consume her type of drag, but it sounds kind of entitled to me to tell them they SHOULD be doing this or that to be "correct" drag queens. Drag queens don't owe you gowns! Or any other element of "traditional"drag for that matter. And before you ask, yes I did like Willow's entrance look, lol!

Besides, isn't the original meaning and point of drag for "a man to give the illusion of a woman"? By now that statement may be a little outdated because heck everyone can do drag, but isn't that exactly what Adore is giving? It's ""pedestrian"" yes but why would that be any "worse" than a glittery thousand dollar gown? Almost sounds classist to me 🤔

Queens with unique looks were being pushed around the time of all stars 2 also, Kim Chi is the biggest example I can think of but Violet , And to a certain extent Katya ,Pearl, Trixie, and Alaska weather it was on a WOW presents show,Drag race, or drag race live show at the time. Also call me crazy but her being able to sing and preform was also a huge part of her season 6 storyline and I think that’s what the talent show should have picked up first. I’m glad she did what was best for her and she’s definitely one of the best drag musicians

They wanted her to be so glamorous just because she was on RPDR aside Bianca and Courtney and yes i get it is a competition but i mean it just on the FPR comments where Adore wasn't even competing, she was just attending to parties or anything else. I was never the pretty glamorous girl with full sets of nails and designer brands i wore hand me down jeans and my brother's old band shirts because i never liked the sparkly in your face styles that everyone else had. So seeing Adore in a more mellow or grunge style made me so happy because it felt like her drag was more centered around her personality and non-conforming style. She was true to herself in her drag. i am honestly diasappointed (but not surprised) with how Raven (not symone but also symone) made fun of Adore based on how polished/thought out her looks. She is very much so punk, in which things embrace the messy and the homemade. I want to add that the "homemade" does not necessarily mean punk. There are plenty of drag artists that make their art/looks by themselves use their own physical resources, whatever that may be. I think that there is a stigma against grunge culture, and the criticism from a lot of popular (as in RPDR endorsed, as is adore) is that if you don't put a significant amount of money into the design, concept, and overall look, you are a bad queen. Grunge culture really has a connection with drug issues, and I am not claiming anything about adore (i do not know anything about her drug history and have no idea in general -- me even making this parentheses comment should not come across about

It pisses me off that so many of the queens and crew went after her the way they did. What a bunch of hateful spiteful hypocrites! They all came to “present themselves”, and most of them did a fine job of that. But Adore was not “one of them”, she was true to herself. I used to get a kick out of DR, but it’s become such a bitch fest, a circus of the most vicious, and I no longer enjoy it. But I’d watch again just to support adore.

Adore's drag style is more casual that's been her aesthetic once she focused more on her music career, she's not a pageant girl. I mean just take one look at her Instagram and it's full of oversized t-shirts over fishnets. She wears street clothes, she doesn't hide that. The producers knew her style of drag when they hired her to be on the show they know that she has a grunge/alt rock aesthetic that isn't big poofy skirts and high fashion but they still asked her to be on the show anyway she shouldn't have to change her entire drag persona to fit a show when they are the ones approaching her to compete. This wasn't a runway category this was a talent show she didn't expect to pull out a full-length gown. And immediately going straight to body shaming isn't the way to critique someone, you can critique an outfit without going for someone's body especially considering you can hardly call Adore plus-sized in that infamous clip. That was absolutely disgusting of her to even comment on her body like that, what does that have to do with anything. Michelle's narrow view of what drag is and what it needs to be impairs her judgment and while it has gotten better she still needs to check her biases. If they really want Adore back on Drag Race All Stars they're going to need to keep in mind that she isn't your red carpet girl.

Seriously, I love Adore & that she knows who she is & how she wants to do drag & her career.
