- All Stars 2 was a great season, particularly because of all the gags that happened throughout. One of these gags was when Adore Delano, one of the most popular RuGirls ever, would walk out of the set after caving into the pressure of the competition. In this video, I wanted to go into all the factors that led up to Adore quitting All Stars 2, as well as giving her flowers for the amazing music career she had with her platform.

I loved Adore's drag because it was something you could get, she was letting you be part of her fantasy too, she was the accessible queen.
She would wear these cool-ass looks that you could get at the more high-end grunge stores and her makeup was always beat for the god, there was a relatability in her drag and it wasn't about being lazy or taking less time... Her vibe was chill, easy, fun, and party... I never expected a pageant gown from her and I was always happy to see her cool 90s looks.
Hope to see her in a future season, being 100% her with no apologises.
“Party ❤”

Literally couldn’t have said it better myself 🙌🏼 adore has a certain style and personally , I’m eating it up
It seems like her and Monet have some fashion overlap.
Adore always stuck with me because of that! Always been one of my faves.
Agreed! I would rather pay to see a Queen with talent and personality than a fashion queen with absolutely nothing going on.
Adore looks gorgeous and has great punk/grunge style!
I love Bianca so much because she was/is one of the only queens who treats Adore with respect in terms of her drag and her as a person. Prime example of being inclusive no matter your experience or polish.
I think the ABCD group of s6 + the other queens created an environment that was truly fun for Adore. However, as2 was more cutthroat, people were harsher and more competitive, and that type of bond that she had with Bianca clearly wouldn't happen again there. Plus, judges being even harsher was also unexpected, because her charisma made them like her during s6, yet nothing stopped them from lashing out on her on as2. A jarring contrast that definitely played a part on her not being able to handle as2
@@heyitsmira17 wait I’m having bad memory, ik ABC is Adore, Bianca, Courtney, but I don’t remember if D is for Darienne or Dela
@@DG_Toti Darienne, Dela didn't make it to top 4 in s6 and Darienne is closer to the other 3 than Dela
Bianca has always been a brutally honest person and will say whatever a person needs to hear to help them improve themselves. You can tell on season 6 that Bianca knew Adore was a rival for the crown but never went out of her way to sabotage Adore and make her fail.
Bianca is so humble
No matter how much time passes. The "Nobody was killed at stonewall" never fails to make me laugh 🤣
It's always a great way to start the videos
i agree, my favorite intro for any youtuber tbh
Lmao nobody was killed? 😂😂😂😂 My sister and I began season 8 recently because she's never seen it and Darrick is her favorite. Derrick? Is it Darrick Berry or Derrick Barry? It's the first one, right?
@@jbear3478 yea it's derrick
Bahaha I was about to comment the same thing. I hope TDD’s intro NEVER changes. 😂
i really hate how adore was clearly going for tumblr grunge, but just wasn't flamboyant enough for everyone. i get that drag race encourages avant garde looks, but that doesn't mean it was justified of anybody to be so harsh on them and their drag.
They picked her on so hard
@@NinjaBooKitty that’s your hateful opinion that you can keep to yourself. quite literally no one asked for your input
@@NinjaBooKitty you're no one. And you're here to dictate what's drag and what is not? Get the f out
@@NinjaBooKitty what adore represents is valid. she just interprets her drag style differently.
@@NinjaBooKitty which is still drag. this fanbase praises "all drag is valid" then says stupid bullshit like this.
People seem to forget that Adore was a genuine Stickam Scene Kid and was all about representing that demographic. She was never about Swarovski encrusted gowns and $2000 wigs. 🖤
I’ve seen scene kids with better drag aesthetics than adore.
@@SBBunny93Okay.
ah, stickam. the good ole days
@@SBBunny93get your life
Too many people think that to be a big star means you have to be numb and take a lot of crap. But I found Adore's sensitivity to be so human. She found her own way in the end, and it goes to show that you don't have to change and make yourself fit into a package in order to be appreciated and successful.
Yes! She’s always given off a punk rock/ grunge aesthetic but even in season 6, she said that she was sensitive
Right??? It was professional of her to keep the composure against the mad disrespect from raven
You don't feel at all her bruised ego factored into ANY of the conversations and points of conflict?
@@RecoveringChristian Of course her ego was bruised, we all have an ego. But she didn't give up drag, or try to change her look to fit into what the judges look for. She might not be glamorous or super artsy fartsy but her grungy goth look is what she likes, and she has quite a following.
@@greylizard1040 no I mean her over inflated ego being bruised. She's had just as brutal if not worse critiques on season 5 but she didn't quit. She made it work without acquiescing and compromising her drag style. The double speak and mealy mouthed explanations didn't put you off? I understand the personal reasons (father, end of a relationship, etc) at the time, but you don't feel her reasons for departing were ultimately shallow at all? Esp with her confession on the reunion epsiode? Why the forced on air confrontation with Michelle, out of hair and makeup, forcing an "apology" out when they'd been on tour together for over a year?
Adore's drag style is very underrated.
It's like the Boulet Brothers said, "drag is art, art is subjective". The snobbish attitude amongst other Queens towards her style pisses me off.
I agree! And her drag should be compared to her oneself. How she elevated from time to time. However, in a competition like Drag Race, they tend to compare it to the others. :(
Agreed. Rbis is literally one od the biggest issue of the show i hate. Especially since there is no one way to do drag. Adore has always b33n about grunge
But this is a drag competition, not an art gallery exhibition. The goal is to beat the other competitors and she wasn’t prepared to do that
Yeah it does suck because I totally get her drag and the grunge vibe and aesthetic. But not everybody is going to appreciate that, and that’s okay because the ones that do understand it have a lot of love for her.
Amen!! Couldn't have said it better myself 👏
i feel like Adore recently coming out as trans adds to the whole story bc maybe for adore drag was a way to express 100% of her femininity all along and her “drag aesthetic” rlly just was HER aesthetic as a person. Like for her performing in drag was just abt performing while looking like how she felt within herself rather than being about being a DRAG QUEEN WHO PERFORMS.
this is what I think a lot coming into RPDR late
The way Raven was coming for Adore wearing a t-shirt as if she didn't do an entire season of FPR in swimsuit t-shirts..... 👀 The hypocrisy... far too much 💀
I literally came here to say this! That is a truly wild critique from Raven.
raven is the queen of hypocrisy anyway. no idea how or why she has fans. what a rotted person.
Comparing runway looks to looks for a RUclips series lol ok
@@gagazlilmonstur who cares she’s at work she should “do her job”
I think that some of Raven’s comments about other queens and her part or support on all of this robbed queen narrative (Which ultimately not only offends the hard work of Tyra (who I know went too far against the fans and the franchise of Drag Race) to win season 2. But it also offends the hard work of Chad Michals, who is a legendary Drag Queen who deserves 7 crowns more) will come back and put her in trouble. I already feel some people is not liking her attitude a lot anymore.
Not saying anything. But I think that Raven has being harsh on some people. And Raven IS an icon. Raven is great. Raven is going to stay in the books of drag maybe forever.
But Raven will probably get in trouble in a couple of years.
And I’ll be honest. Even if it was a joke, I think it was disrespectful for Tyra and Chad that she appeared on the first episode of all stars winners.
can we talk about how problematic RAVEN has been ?!
She is always coming out with some sideways ass thing to say.. honestly, its wild.
She needs to go away like Sharon Needles
Exactly, did y'all see when she "interviewed" the AS2 cast and got their information wrong? If it wasn't for Ginger Minj, Raven would've just fell asleep? Ginger even asked her if she watches the show?
It’s entirely weird to me she can as dark as rupaul or even darker and not much sustained backlash came from it which doubles as disgusting with how the fan base treats actual poc queens
I mean, didn’t Tatianna kinda warn us during the Season 2 reunion?
The stuff this fan base allows Raven to get away with is insane. That’s the next video that needs to be made. She gets awarded a lot when she should be held to the fire like everyone else
Not just raven, violet too or trixie, I love them all but why does Nina Bonina get mistreated for having the same opinions?
The “pre rehab Demi Lovato” is SO FUKED. Raven got lucky that didn’t air, she would have gotten ripped apart for being so offensive and unnecessary.
That’s such a snide comment if there ever was…..
A "Pre-Rehab Demi Lovato"???! How absolutely awful do you have to be to say something like that about someone... especially coming from another celebrity that knows how hard that life is... wow now I get why adore was so upset
I hate it, when guest judges go overboard with their critiques. And excuse me, what gives Raven Symone the right to say that? She is lucky that Production did decide to cut her part out.
Raven Symone comes across as a pretty awful person tbh, entitled, arrogant, delusional
Plus I think she's had issues with drug use so extra not ok
Demi does look like a fat mess now!
Well. She's defended Cosby so she's not the soundest of mind in personal judgements.
Some of the critiques she got off the bat specially about her body were so uncalled for, I remember gasping during my first watch.
Tbh the body shaming on that show is absolutely horrendous. If they don't bust out with the judges' idea of a perfect figure, then you KNOW they're getting dragged through the goddamn mud, even though they literally look drop-dead gorgeous.
Late comment here but Adore makes drag feel accessible. She always has for me, as a nonbinary person - makes me feel like I too could go out and achieve drag. Because there's no mistaking that what she does IS drag. It's grunge, it's real and it's still somehow a caricature of the themes she goes for. She's super duper underappreciated.
I’ve always found it so frustrating that people think they get to dictate what Adore should look like…especially other queens. Michelle has such a limited view of drag for someone who doesn’t even do drag
This!
I agree with you fully in sentiment, but Michelle objectively does drag - or at the very least used to. she was a very influential member of the club kid movement and she's done so much for our community. all of that being said, she isn't infallible, and she makes a lot of poor choices as a judge I agree
@@clovis- i completely agree!!
@@clovis- and she had a hit song on the Bodyguard album, track #9 don't forget. Imminently qualifies her to judge drag queens style and talents. Lol
Michelle at least tries and doesn't always get it right but she tours with the Queens and people do love her offset (it's even why Adore couldn't handle criticism from her anymore) Ru... Ru's idea of drag is very narrow and he definitely favours blonde queens.
not only did i think Adore’s singing was great in all stars and she didn’t deserve to be bottom 3, but i really appreciate her drag aesthetic too. not everything drag has to be crazy flamboyant or expensive, and i would’ve liked to have seen how she puts her “polish remover” grunge kinda style through the lens of drag race. i mean, like Adore said, “she can’t crowdsurf in a corset.” it’s the kind of style i think i would emulate if i were to start drag, and i wish the show and FPR would have supported the style 😔
Same! Adore has been a long time favourite of mine, even now that I don't consume as much drag content. I have quite alternative style, am proud of my working class roots and take much joy from involvement in the punk community. Adore was always relatable and encouraging for me and I'm sure others like me. It is important to show that you CAN be a part of anything you want (such as drag) and be GOOD at it without spending shitloads of money, especially because some people just can't afford certain things and it does make you feel left out or lesser than in certain communities. We need more queens like Adore on future seasons tbh. More variety and unlimited creativity please.
Same. Her drag style is hot as fuck too 😭 adore is fine as hell
I think that it should be okay if a queen doesn’t pad her body or wear a corset. Sometimes being comfortable is more important especially if you are going to be in drag for several hours.
i always thought she stood out the most with her drag. its not everyday you see a drag queen with a grunge/street fashion aesthetic
Adore Delano is not popular because of her looks, really. She is one of the most charismatic, memorable queens that’s been on the show. Katya’s commentary about Adore is the most fair anyone who’s talked about her all stars performance
as a grunge girlie i ADORE (pun intended) Adore's drag is stuff i would definetly wear. The 90s grunge aesthetic is something i get
I remember when people first got onto Adore for their drag style and I always sat there thinking that these people have never understood the grunge scene or looked at the grunge fashion sense once until Billie Eilish got onto the modern music scene. It made me kind of upset because I love how Adore represents that style of fashion and it got me into a lot of arguments with some friends about it at the time.
it sucks even billie eilish got made fun of for her style. unrelated but it's kinda sad she phased out of the baggy streetwear + tumblr grunge/"vintage" style, it was always my favorite to see her ig posts/yt vids early on
I thought that Adore’s drag style was interesting and unique. Not every drag queen is comfortable wearing pageant gowns and corsets. I appreciate a queen that embraces her own body and doesn’t wear something as restrictive as a corset for hours at a time. If you’re going to be in drag for more than four hours, why make yourself miserable by wearing extremely uncomfortable things? Drag is all about self expression after all.
As a cringe grunge-loving trans nb, Adore's drag style makes my heart sing. She wears outfits that I would wear. She makes drag feel accessible; and it's not high art or high fashion, and it never has to be. Seeing queens who positively represent alt fashion movements like grunge and tumblr girl aesthetics is so important. Those aspects of femininity need to be celebrated and not erased.
Gatekeeping and erasure is a huge problem in alternative scenes that high-fashion queens sometimes play into. However, the queens reading her look in old Ruviews are just that; they are reads, they are part of the drag performance of those videos. The critiques have an element of truth but are mostly exagerrated for comedic/performance effect. Fans shouldnt take it as verbatim law.
she is one of the queens who was done wrong by rupaul’s, and by association the fandom’s, one dimensional view of what good drag is
I hate this tendency, which a lot of drag Queens have, to use the most vicious insult and veil it being "critique". Telling somebody that they look like they are suffering through extreme addiction just to be fun and quirky just isn't it...
FR i’d be throwing hands, that’s just such an ugly thing to say
The thing is, it doesn’t happen in the real world. At the clubs I’ve worked at, if you turned up to work reading people like the judges do, you’d have no friends or career. It’s just this toxic culture that has spawned around drag race because it represents drag queens in a hyper-critical bitchey way that just doesn’t exist.
i dont know why a large part of the drag community thinks its ok to insult and attack somebody behind the shield of "its not personal its drag!! its just a read!! you have to read to be a drag queen!!". like what happened to drag being a familial and welcoming environment for those who don't have those connections? yes, reading is a huge part of drag, but in my opinion it should only be done with consent and by friends. the community needs to stop bullying other queens and then going "but its just a read its part of drag".
@@pandagrl666 i agree, my favorite queens are always the miss congeniality types and never the drama starters. I know its reality tv so of course theres gonna be drama and i know some queens who are actually nice/ok people will play the villain role just because it makes good tv but i wish it didnt have to be that way. Im more entertained when the queens are getting along and playfully insulting each other like all friends do
It’s the same vibe as “people think I’m a bitch but I just tell it like it is” corny lames
Loooooooved Adore's All Stars 2 entrance look. That was "all the girls I went to high school with" to quote Adore. It definitely took effort to get all those details down. There's something feminist to me about Adore's drag, as she's willing to do looks that aren't "pretty" but represent the rebellious woman who doesn't give a shit about the male gaze.
Wow, I’m glad you commented this. I’d never been able to articulate it before, but there is something that feels non-male gaze about her drag! Like, she seems to be performing femininity in a way that is maybe more pleasing to women than to men, and that IS part of her appeal
I think the issue is that it can be that aesthetic just push it over the top a little bit. It’s very pedestrian. However she’s wonderful and doesn’t have to do anything she doesn’t want to do ❤
I thought drag was a open concept that is why you see all types of queens. Turns out both Ravens love to say out of pocket stuff.
About 7 years ago, I went to see the BOTS tour. I live in a smaller city that might not be considered a “big gig” for.. well.. anyone, really. Adore was the only queen who came out before the show and interacted with fans in the line. I cherish a picture I have with her- she gave me a huge hug and was all smiles. She had no obligation to do it and nobody would have faulted anyone for not coming out before the show, but she did. And that meant a lot to fans.
It made me realize that her relationship with her supporters is something that goes beyond Drag Race. Drag Race got her the platform, of course, but I feel like she does drag the way she does to connect with people who are on the same wavelength as her. And that’s why it was so painful to have that critiqued. Because it was more than just a drag character- it was about representing the kids out there who feel like losers. Showing them there is a “fan-favorite” inside them too.
Sorry to wax poetic, but I really felt for Adore in the moment she left. Say what you will about it being the right decision or the wrong decision, but it is the one she made in that moment and it is one I definitely have sympathy for.
uff love that she did that n ur perspective of her ( :
Adore represents those of us who actually don't want to be like the Hollywood popular crowd. It's not worth your health sister, some of us prefer cooperating, not competing with anyone but ourselves.
Exactly. Polish Remover, b*tch! ❤
(One of my favorite things she ever said.)
Raven Symone is disgusting for calling her a pre rehab Demi Lovato.
I don't think this is an unpopular opinion at all, but I find it so weird when fans get like, INDIGNANT when a drag queen uses common clothes or more """pedestrian""" drag. I totally get it if someone personally doesn't enjoy that aesthetic and so they don't want to consume her type of drag, but it sounds kind of entitled to me to tell them they SHOULD be doing this or that to be "correct" drag queens. Drag queens don't owe you gowns! Or any other element of "traditional"drag for that matter. And before you ask, yes I did like Willow's entrance look, lol!
Besides, isn't the original meaning and point of drag for "a man to give the illusion of a woman"? By now that statement may be a little outdated because heck everyone can do drag, but isn't that exactly what Adore is giving? It's ""pedestrian"" yes but why would that be any "worse" than a glittery thousand dollar gown? Almost sounds classist to me 🤔
@@mr_selfdestruct I mean, she always gave "THAT girl" vibes taken straight out of our wildest Tumblr dreams 😂 so yeah definitely
It's so weird right? The uproar about queens not wearing heels is like ??? Like there's no way to be fashionable and not wear heels? It's so confusing
I LOVE adore. Her look is the only drag aesthetics I can realistically wear in my everyday life. Her drag is like a love letter to 90s alt grunge scenes and ends up basically being a love letter to her very fans.
I guess you could say you adore her (I’m so sorry)
I Adore her ( no pun intended ) . Not every queen has to be in a sparkling gown , or have a three foot headpiece on to do Drag . Adore is awesome no matter what she does .
I met her during a show once *years* ago and we had a drink afterwards. She was such an amazing performer - singing LIVE - and so personable and kind. I'm not the biggest drag race fan these days but will always love and respect Adore.
The way jarami wasn’t shown coaching adore saddened me
Yeah production just had to maintain the villain thing instead of allowing them to have a second chance to reinvent their image on the show
I think Katya is right. Adore's first two albums were so different from other drag queen music. in fact, I became a drag race fan because I was a fan of Adore as a singer first and then decided to watch RPDR to see more of her. I feel like in a way, Adore made drag race famous, and not (only) the other way around.
As someone who grew up in the 90s, the riot girl aesthetic is everything to me. Good work, Adore! ❤
Adore’s spirit is just so fun, sweet, quirky, and genuine. It’s no wonder we all fell in love with her 💜 she seems like she would just be a blast to be around and I think we connected with her as a fan base on season 6 because we all just needed that good energy in our life, and she’s all a girl we’d want to be like 🤣 I mean her aesthetic is completely whatever tf she wants it to be and that’s why I love her!
Yes, it's Michelle's job to be a judge
But in early seasons, especially around Allstars 2, 3 and pre season 11, Michelle was notoriously known to drag down queen's for minor and irrelevant details
I love Adore and her grunge aesthetic. All drag is legitimate drag. Not everything has to be about looking glam and wearing designer brands or knowing how to sew high fashion garments.
The moment Raven referred to Adore as that, Michelle or Ru should have said “no, too far, that doesn’t work here”.
Adore did something very intelligent: tapping out when you know the situation you're in is damaging to your mental health. Putting your health first ❤
I just want to add that dirty laundry has absolutely no skips. It is SO good
I was a late comer to RPDR. A friend made me watch season 6 first because I enjoyed Bianca's movies. So, I came for Bianca, but when I saw Adore fall out of that chair... I stayed for Adore because I was smitten at that point lol. Going to see her in February for my birthday, so excited!
You'll enjoy Adore live, saw her last week and she sounded better live than on drag race. She also bantered well with the audience. Hope you enjoy your Adore concert in Feb
@@Abyssreaper99 I have never been so excited for a concert in my life. Thank you so much for the kind words! 💜💜💜
that’s so sweet! where are ya gonna see her?
I never got the criticism of her looks on All Stars 2. Her looks were a huge part of season 6 and usually loved by the fans. Queens with unique looks were being pushed around the time of all stars 2 also, Kim Chi is the biggest example I can think of but Violet , And to a certain extent Katya ,Pearl, Trixie, and Alaska weather it was on a WOW presents show,Drag race, or drag race live show at the time. Also call me crazy but her being able to sing and preform was also a huge part of her season 6 storyline and I think that’s what the talent show should have picked up first. I’m glad she did what was best for her and she’s definitely one of the best drag musicians
I love Adore’s style. It’s something I wear everyday and I love how it incorporated into drag. It’s so accessible yet timeless
I see Adore more as a punk pop princess, like Pete Burns rather than a traditional drag queen
i love adore’s drag. shes just flat out doing whatever the fuck she wants in the best way possible. its so refreshing to have someone who’s outside of the box and aims for more of a grunge/street style.
Cannot believe we didn’t get Adore on AS2 bc of Raven fucking Symone
If you enjoyed the ‘Whatever’ album, Adore’s latest release ‘Dirty Laundry’ is amazing and has some of her best songs yet. ‘3 Flowers’ is my favourite song of hers and it really shows off her beautiful voice. Adore is such a role model and I couldn’t be more proud of everything she has achieved. Drag is an art form and should be interpreted however the artist wants. Thank you Green Gay 💚
Raven calling her fashion out is just too funny, at least Adore doesn’t change her skin colour Raven 🤭
Adore was always the “teenage outsider” type of drag that made me remember my sister in her goth/metal head/ emo phases and we both love and cherish her aesthetic.
Adore is from my area, and I've always been a fan of her drag, and her singing. I felt horrible when she left AS2, and I'm looking forward to see where she goes now
Adore knows that when production picks your narrative and storyline, that's it for your entire run..being ripped apart week after week about her looks..I don't blame her..
I will never shut up about the bodyshaming Adore had to go trough. Like she does not have a "hog body." She is skinnier then me and i am already skinny! Anyway i hope Adore is doing well nowadays.
Adore had an aesthetic accorded to the Soft Grunge / Tumblr-ish ways back in those days, it was normal to other queens to see it like she wasn't doing "her best effort" because she wanted to follow the fashion of the young people like her back then.
They wanted her to be so glamorous just because she was on RPDR aside Bianca and Courtney and yes i get it is a competition but i mean it just on the FPR comments where Adore wasn't even competing, she was just attending to parties or anything else. It's kinda sad because i would've loved to see her in AS
Thanks so much for this video!! Adore is my favorite queen, she got me into drag and made me a huge fan of the artform outside drag race. I love her so much!!!! Adore forever!!!!
my fave Adore moment is when I was at DragCon. I had just finished taking a picture with Tammy Brown when I hear Adore's voice excitedly introducing her mom to Tammy. Super cute.
Honestly, even if I already know the information, I watch your videos anyway. You have a relaxing voice.
It's usually my goal that I present information in a way where those who already know it can still find some enjoyment or even fun facts. I like that it was the case with you! 💚
I love Adore. I began watching Drag Race because of her as I have watched her performances in American Idol in the past. As well as her videos with her best friend Chris Crocker. I give my thanks to her for making me love Drag Race even to this day.
Watching Drag race you see alot of people doing the same kind of style like full glam or comedy but Adore hit home for me with her drag. I was never the pretty glamorous girl with full sets of nails and designer brands i wore hand me down jeans and my brother's old band shirts because i never liked the sparkly in your face styles that everyone else had. So seeing Adore in a more mellow or grunge style made me so happy because it felt like her drag was more centered around her personality and non-conforming style. She was true to herself in her drag. Big, shiny, and expensive doesn't always mean its unique. Adore holds a very special spot in my little punk heart and I'm very proud of her ❤
Adore is my favorite. I love her drag, personality, and music
WAIT why have we never thought of Adore on Queen of the Universe!???🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 katya saying adore is a singer in drag made me realize that queen of the universe is literally for adore to win OMG!!!
Because I think in essence Adore doesn't see her self as a judge and a critiquer of people.. But I could totoally see her in a role like a coach or somwthing like Trodick did on dragrace.. Because he is there for the brunt of the work, he sees and appreciates the efforts and always have great and wonderful things to say.. That could be her gig for sure~ but just judging idk
I adored Adores style. She came in as herself. That’s brave. Beautiful. ✊🏻
Would you be interested in making a video about the story of Blair St. Clair? She was a strong competitor at the beginning of S10 yet underedited, abruptly eliminated (due to her DUI trial?!) and kept for a long time in AS5 with no/cut storylines all season long.
I was so sad when she left. I love adore since she was angel baby. Made me love her even more. I still love her style
I remember that Adore said in an interview that in the ICU video she wore the clothes she couldnt wear on allstars
Her Valentina and ms Edwards are behemoths and I’ll never get tired of them. I can’t get enough of them.
This is editorial level coverage, wonderful vids.
Hindsight is 20/20. We can’t control when we’re going through a rough mental state. They made the best decision they could with what they had. I respect Adore a lot for leaving and choosing their health over the competition. I don’t watch RPDR anymore, maybe clips here and there, but that’s it. because I realized I like watching drag stars outside of the competition, for their individual quirks and personalities, not watching them fit a mold for Ru to approve.
i am honestly diasappointed (but not surprised) with how Raven (not symone but also symone) made fun of Adore based on how polished/thought out her looks. She is very much so punk, in which things embrace the messy and the homemade. I want to add that the "homemade" does not necessarily mean punk. There are plenty of drag artists that make their art/looks by themselves use their own physical resources, whatever that may be. I think that there is a stigma against grunge culture, and the criticism from a lot of popular (as in RPDR endorsed, as is adore) is that if you don't put a significant amount of money into the design, concept, and overall look, you are a bad queen. Grunge culture really has a connection with drug issues, and I am not claiming anything about adore (i do not know anything about her drug history and have no idea in general -- me even making this parentheses comment should not come across about
every time i watch as2 i get so emotional about adore and her emotions. i know it's a reality show but that felt so real and raw. she deserved so much better than the way she was treated in as2
I was drawn to Adore from the first time I saw her on drag race. I’ve never been into grunge as a style, but I saw a confidence and radiance in her that I liked. It pisses me off that so many of the queens and crew went after her the way they did. What a bunch of hateful spiteful hypocrites! They all came to “present themselves”, and most of them did a fine job of that. But Adore was not “one of them”, she was true to herself. I used to get a kick out of DR, but it’s become such a bitch fest, a circus of the most vicious, and I no longer enjoy it. But I’d watch again just to support adore.
im just popping in to say how i love adores drag. shes a mssive inspiration to me and has encouraged me to explore drag.
I met Adore last year and shes so far beyond Drag Race and shes fucking fantastic.
I love Adore's style. No one is doing it like her
N-nobody was killed?
I think the biggest musical gems we got from season 6 were Adore and Kelly. Both so talented in both drag and singing. Adore even goes a step further for how personal her music is.
Why did I first think of Kelly Rowland and being like "What season 6 are we talking about?" 💀
8:10 “For example, Adore was told many times that she had a hog body” .. idk why this made me laugh so much
i really like adore. it took me awhile on season 6 to like her and sometimes her voice annoys the crap out of me(talking voice, not singing lol) but she just cant stop you from falling in love with her. i was so sad when she left all stars 2, i just wanted to see more of her but honestly i understand it. i like her drag style. it's different than everybody's else's and i really think thats the whole point of drag
I swear I've been addicted to your videos ever since I found the channel. I have been BINGING them all, it scratches my itch for drag race content and video essay type content
I feel badly for Adore that she felt she needed all of the facial work done that she had between her season and all-stars. She looked just fine before the work!
Seeing Adore get into their own head only because they started comparing themselves and believed what people were saying. It truly broke my heart to see Adore break down. Adore deserved better. Adore will always be a star in my heart I remember seeing them for the first time and feeling so connected to not only their style but Adore as a human. I felt seen because I grew up in the early 2009 with a scene kid as an older sibling. Only to stumble onto Tumblr and really find the grunge scene and fell in love with the edgy style and the look.
Adore's drag style is more casual that's been her aesthetic once she focused more on her music career, she's not a pageant girl. I mean just take one look at her Instagram and it's full of oversized t-shirts over fishnets. She wears street clothes, she doesn't hide that. The producers knew her style of drag when they hired her to be on the show they know that she has a grunge/alt rock aesthetic that isn't big poofy skirts and high fashion but they still asked her to be on the show anyway she shouldn't have to change her entire drag persona to fit a show when they are the ones approaching her to compete. This wasn't a runway category this was a talent show she didn't expect to pull out a full-length gown. And immediately going straight to body shaming isn't the way to critique someone, you can critique an outfit without going for someone's body especially considering you can hardly call Adore plus-sized in that infamous clip. That was absolutely disgusting of her to even comment on her body like that, what does that have to do with anything. Michelle's narrow view of what drag is and what it needs to be impairs her judgment and while it has gotten better she still needs to check her biases. If they really want Adore back on Drag Race All Stars they're going to need to keep in mind that she isn't your red carpet girl.
Adore Definitely did not Regret leaving Allstars 2. In the Comments section of a clip of her at the reunion Titled something like "Adore Regrets leaving" which was Uploaded by the official Rpdr youtube channel. Adore explains that was not the case at all, and if I remember right, She said The reunion was edited in a way to make it appear as if she did.
But still despite this Mistake, This was still an Amazing Video
I love adore and appreciate her “mall” aesthetic. But it’s clear now, with who the fan favorites are, that it wasn’t a viable long lasting brand. She’s still one of the more successful ones, but she really could’ve transcended to the next level with a lot of the other queens if she wanted to.
Adore is the reason that I discovered that I could market my singing career in a new way. She is a HUGE reason that ‘Ada Vox’ as an artist exists. ♥️
I Adore U a classic literally a classic
I love Adore, but many drag performers do not fit within the specific competition format of the show. Still it was a platform for her and she succeeded in reaching so many people and I imagine upping her fee (also see Ginny Lemon) so she should be proud of meeting these objectives. As you mentioned towards the end of the video, her music is for me much more relatable than anything other performers have done from Drag Race.
I truly love your content. So well made and researched.
What is Adore doing? - looking like all my friends in my early twenties and crushing those late nineties / early millennium looks! I LOVE HER ASTHETIC! Adore! There are people who get you!
I literally do not understand why the judges (aka- Michele) just can’t accept that Adore’s drag and bellowed fan favorite status has NOTHING at all to do with wearing “traditional” drag gowns etc. and everything to do with her amazing funny and sweet personality- not to mention her incredible signing voice and standing out for being an incredible performer in that genre, which doesn’t exclude her being able to show that on RPDR All Stars if they had allowed her to. 🙄🤷🏻♀️💕💕
literally my new fav channel im watching all your drag vids
Thank you! It means a lot 💚
We LOVE you Adore. Keep on keeping on. Amazing artist, persona, & drag legend.
A quote from Paula Abdul when she was critiquing one of Danny Noriega's (Adore's) performances on American Idol back in 2008: "There's gonna be a lot of colours of Danny coming out". Perhaps Paula should do drag as 'Apollo' Abdul ;)
Seriously, I love Adore & that she knows who she is & how she wants to do drag & her career. I don't think it's contradictory at all to be unapologetic about who you are & how you do things, while also still getting emotionally affected from criticism from time to time. Being confident and having a strong sense of self is not the same thing as being invulnerable.
I think Adore was largely carried through season 6 but I will defend her till the end of time that her drag style is valid and people need to let her do her
I love adores drag aesthetic. She’s worn multiple outfits I would LOVE to wear.
I love her style, and at the end of the day it's drag, just have fun, it's all about not fitting a mold, unlike some drag queens think
I love adore Delano
Misse ya! Love your hard work!
Adore's "Whatever" album is a great listen. I love the themes they touch upon and the instruments go pretty hard which I personally enjoy 💜
this was such a good analysis
