Cora Sue Collins will celebrate her 96th birthday next year, she is one of less than a dozen living child stars from the '30s. I just read a new interview with her where she revealed why she quit acting and went into retirement so early. She is also the last living person that appeared on film with Greta Garbo.
Excellent rendition of the novel. Harsh times in quaker town. Easily ⭐⭐⭐+ 1/2 stars all day long and next week too. Nice drama with some cool shenanigans from Alan Hale and Samson. The ending is heart stopping. 😉
Very good film. The trauma imposed by the town judgement to Hester, Pearl and the Pastor was unbelievable. If she was able, Hester should have left this town and the evil people in it, and made a fresh start somewhere else as a widow. There is no way for her and her child to have a pleasant life with these townspeople.
Secret letter! I have none ! 😭! What's the meaning?!?!?! 🤔 😲! I have so many love letters but not secret letters !!! Hai friends ! What about idea ?!?! Tell me!!!!Thanks CCC 👸 🙏
Hi, Helen. You can be very funny sometimes without really trying to be. 🙂 OK, the red (or scarlet) letter "A" was forced upon women to wear for the sin of adultery back those bad old times of the 1600s. It was a way of shaming them. However, such punishment was not applied equally. Men sometimes did not have to share such a heavy burden for the same sin. This drama shows that there is redemption even after sinning. So don't collect this public letter. You don't want this "A". Cheers and hope to see you in chat for this one. Be well. 🌺
The poor women of the 17th century had to wear an "A" for the deed. The rich ladies just moved to a bigger town. 🚂The guys got to wear a gold star or notch on their flint lock pistols. Oh, the inequities of the times! A very harsh but historically true story. The film is rather dreary given the subject matter. But some comic relief (if that's possible) is offered by the legendary Alan Hale. 🤡 No not the skipper from GILLIGAN' ISLAND but his pappy (almost identical twins). Never read the novel so I got some watching to do. Wish it was the colorized version to keep things light. 🏳🌈OK, it's a drama, I know. I'll take the black and white. 🎥 (Gotta go search for more emojis). See ya!
Thabk you zanti for enlightening us. Crazy culture! I didn't realize. My mother had a child out of wedlock and lied about it until I was hospitalized 3 1/2 months.

a wonderful film, the society did not have developed medicine and cruelly condemning debauchery was protected from venereal diseases.
Developed medicine does not so much protect as hide symptoms.
Thank you for the unusual movie.
❤
