  • Escapes and defense for multiple stages of the Guillotine submission and Front headlock position.
We will examine this from multiple scenarios. Standing, turtle, differences between high elbow (arm out) and arm in guillotines, and more. This class also gives insight into multiple stages of defense. Preemptive, Early, Middle, and Late.
1️⃣Part one begins our standing Guillotine defense. We will be utilizing frames and angles to free our heads from the submission. This is sensible vs. both major variations of Guillotine chokes.
2️⃣Part two will continue in the standing position. The second escape looks at using a counter throwing Arm Spin (Ude Gaeshi) takedown to escape directly into offense. This is sensible vs. both major variations of Guillotine chokes.
3️⃣Part three shifts to the turtle position and examing the differences between arm out and arm in Guillotines. The first escape from turtle looks at forcing side control vs. an Arm In Guillotine.
4️⃣Part four continues in the turtle position. The second turtle escape will focus on building safe habits for arm out/high elbow guillotines. This can lead us to the unique counter of the Von Flue choke.
5️⃣Part five reaches the LATE STAGE of a Guillotine where our partner is leaving turtle and sitting to a guard to finish the choke. We will utilize a rolling escape when we can not force side control.
6️⃣Part six troubleshoots the issue of our opponent following the rolling escape and attempting to perform a Mounted Guillotine. Butterfly hooks and frames will be used to escape this threat.
