Nuclear power was known since before ww1, in 1914 Giulio Costanzi proposed nuclear powered rockets for spaceflight. Usually sci-fi writers take inspiration from the latest scientific discoveries, Jules Verne for example, that how he managed to predict so many details about the Moon missions etc.

Yes! There was a time when basically all SF fandom knew and loved this story, and many others.
We have entered the era of SF centennials. In 2026, we'll celebrate the 100th birthday of Amazing Stories in Avril 1926, and from then on we will be celebrating again all the great short stories that shook the world of science-fiction.
I think your format is perfect for short stories and I think of all the gems waiting to be rediscovered.
I actually can already hear your voice telling us about Van Vogt's Enchanted Village.
Thank you and super cheers for this one!

Thanks, SFS for introducing a subgenre unknown to me. The framework of this story would make a great "Galaxy Quest" sequel or serious TNG episode. For anyone interested, the music at 10:10 or so is "Imaginators" by Jay Varton. Merry Christmas!

Oh yes! I just recently read the Best of Stanley G Weinbaum. A Martian Odyssey and its sequel story are among my favorites of his!

This story would make a good SciFi comedy film.

@@SciFiSecrets wait wait hold up fellas, im gonna have to ask you to kindly remove your tin foil hats for a moment while we deal with this nonsense..
1st thing: NASA DOES NOT HAVE a credibility issue..
Sure, Flat Earther morons and christians are convinced NASA is "hiding the truth" or some dumb shit, but thats because those people are literally mentally ill, and extremely delusional, not to mention they somehow never got the memo like the rest of us that the internet is full of charlatans, scammers, and liars, because they happen to just believe every retard that posts some tik tok about "how this time they prove the earth is flat" which ends up not proving anything but they're own delusions.
It's actually somewhat depressing to hear a person who seems to appreciate science and especially astronomy and cosmology, contribute to the people who are disrespecting America's greatest institution. I guess everything for likes, right? Well you wont get one from me this time lol.
      Second of all,
"what the hell do you guys mean, " Mars is NOT red??"
That is a ridiculous statement.. Why are you agreeing with him? And then alluding to some nonsense that NASA "doctors" images in false colors on purpose, in order to "trick the truth seekers " . fucks sakes man..
From far away, meaning most home telescopes, the dominant color the eye sees, is indeed red, due to the oxidation of iron, and the 3 inch layer of rust and oxidized rock that DOMINATES the landscape..
Of course, when you get closer, as in orbit, which none of us have, but if you did, you would notice it was more a "butterscotch color" and there are regions with all different colors.. BUT, from the few pixels our eye receives from telescopes and even the naked eye, it is 100 %red. And for a real reason.
Also, just liek the Earth is called "the pale blue dot" , because from Voyager 1, when it took that iconic picture, all our eyes saw, was the blue pixel from the ocean. Obviously the earth is not ENTIRELY BLUE, but nobody thinks NASA is TAKING THE PISS, because Carl Sagan called it " a pale blue dot" ..
Please man, you have a platform, and you influence many people, try not to encourage these delusions. You could be doing so much more, for the betterment of our society, which has truly tanked, thanks to the internet just overloading the smooth brains, over the last couple decades, and there are serious consequences because of it.
NASA HAS NO CREDIBILITY ISSUE. If crazy people want to believe we never landed on the moon, and NASA faked it all, thats fine its a free country, but their opinion is irrelevant and normal society does not take their " delusions" as a legit consideration.
      Fuck.
