Try 170 fork. One of the best changes I made to my Evo Pro

Nice video! Mullet is a necessity for shortlegged folks, who want to avoid the butt buzz. Are you on the high setting on the flip chip? Curious if high position still giving you pedal strikes.

I'm on the factory settings which is High in the back, and middle for the headset, right?

I tried the mullet setup on my EVO and as a taller rider(6' 1), I don't think it benefits me as much as the full 29er does. I feel it getting hung up in the chunk on the back and and doesn't roll as fast in the straights. I haven't tried the WRP yoke which I hear is basically required for riding in the mullet setup without the negative effects from the specialized linkage that's only 80 bucks.
People say that the mullet handles turns better but I could barely feel it, however it is a bit more poppy and easier to pull up into manuals/wheelies. For regular trail riding and jumps the mullet is probably more fun, but for speed and riding chunk/enduro lines, the 29er is where it's at.

I haven’t noticed any downsides yet, but certainly get where you’re coming from. I have a busy season of Endoro starting at the end of this month, so we’ll see!

Where you riding at Watershed Marc? That place is one of my all-time favorites. Great riding brotha, looks like you enjoyed yourself on the new mullet. I tried the cushcore on my hardtail and also enjoyed it.

Hey Sage! This video had me on Salamander, catovid, lawnmower, boundary line, upper Canaan (the drop), Green Eggs & Ham, and supersteep. I’m pretty sure in that order as well! Yeah, I’m happy with the cushcore thus far.

I'm waiting on my EVO Pro to come in. Unfortunately, there is no Pro in Black for 2023. The only option for Black is S-Works. I really can't justify the price compared to a Pro.
Specialized is going to ship it to the LBS so I can see it in person. If I don't like the bike, there's no penalty.
I'm torn between the EVO Pro, and the Orbea Rallon. I'm hesitant on Orbea because I can't test ride it.

I loved the white pro, but couldn’t get approval on the extra $$ from the wife. Of course, I have the difference and then some in upgrades now 😂.

Did you notice any peadle kickback when you changed to the higher engagement rachet? Any negatives to the swap?

I swapped it before I ever used the wheel, so I don’t have a reference point. My previous hun was a 108t, so moving down to a 54t was as much as I could tolerate. Still loving the setup and really haven’t found any downsides!

How does it climb on short steeps compared to the 29? JKW did back to back runs on an EVO w 27.5 and 29 on the rear, and he loves mullets bc he jumps like a rabbit. He did mention that he did notice a difference when he needed to put the hammer down and muscle up things on 27.5. Seems you may need to spin more and set up your climbs a little earlier. Curious to hear your findings.

I haven't really noticed that, but quite frankly only have a 100 or so miles on the setup. I usually ride my Stache on local trails, and ride the "garage queen" (Evo) out at the Shed or Enduros. I'll be curious to gauge those potential downsides as the weather breaks.

Great setup so far :) I am SJ Evo Comp owner but I did not experienced pedal strikes yet, maybe I did't ride it that gnarly in some mountains yet... By that you mean the cranks are too long or you have experiencec some back pedal strikes? For a back pedal strikes there is Ochain solution but how to avoide that with 5Dev crank, or is it lenght only? Also thanks for cool info on WRP Linkage for Mullet, did not heard of that one yet, but the price that you have mentioned is really high for a CNC component. So far I know also Cascade Components stuff but they don't have mullet links, just regular 29/29. And for the hubs personally I am not the fan of noisy hubs, I enjoy silence in the woods too much ;) Did you change also the lenght of your stem? I am planning to try out 40mm stem instead of 50mm stock for a little more playful character on my S4 size :) Great stuff, keep it up !

Thanks for the comment. The Evo has a low bottom bracket, so the cranks/pedals hit rocks a lot here in the mi Atlantic. I’m reading that a lot of owners are switching to 5 dev to avoid that. I thought about a 40mm stem, but stuck with 50, as I’m tall (6’2”) and didn’t want to risk having a cramped cockpit.
