Mullets have many benefits 1.When u have smaller wheels on back U wont get the feeling of going over the bars or steep decents 2 smaller wheel on the back makes climbing so much more easier 3 it is much easier to manual
Why is mullet easier for climbing? I'm a shorter rider and thinking of converting to mullet but I live around a lot mountains so I was concerned it's going to make climbing harder. Can you elaborate?
I've converted both my Focus Jam2 EMTB and my Devinci Troy Carbon to Mullet. Both bikes were 27.5 frames to start with. The Focus came with Plus tyres so the fork was already 29". 27.5 / 2.8 on the rear and 29/ 2.5 up front. The geo came out almost identical to the Focus Jam2 Drifter (Mullet specific bike) 😀. The Troy has adjustable geo, so I set it in the 'Low' position and put a 29" fork and wheel on there. Both bikes ride fantastic ,and I can't imagine I would ever go back to 27.5 at both ends - Love the video, it's adds a bit of science to the subject😀
Great video. One thing as you pointed, with a mullet the seat angle becomes slacker and slightly affects climbing ability. Exception being bikes with adjustable dropouts to compensate for that.

I couldnt tell the difference between 29 meta tr and my meta sx, only difference is that 29s carry little bit more speed when you are pedaling. So yes, if only on road, 29 is better. But who does ride mtbs on the road :)
I’ve heard for road bikes it can be better to do the opposite of a mullet (put a smaller wheel in the front, or get a larger wheel in the back). It can help to get lower, more aero and supply more power to the cranks!
Try running a 27.5" frame and 29front? Maybe compare. I run 29 on the front of a 27.5 frame. You said that it lowered your bottom bracket. It actually picked mine up.
I had one of those Cannondale mullets back in the mid 1980s. First production mountain bike I ever saw. No suspension 26 on the front and 24 on the rear. No one around here had a mountain bike, there wasn't even mountain bike trails. I road hiking trails and an old off road motorcycle trails along side some local highways. Bright yellow paint job with those oversized Cannondale tubing. Sun tour components, friction shift levers and power cam breaks. The breaks were okay, a lot of power when they were clean. But Cannondale in their wisdom put the rear brake down by the bottom bracket. It really made a clean looking rear end on the bike, but dirt would get into the brakes so very fast. Found some canvas and velcro covers for the brakes in some camping supply catalog . Remember there was no internet, no Amazon. That was the problem I had with finding tires too. 26 not a problem but a good 24. I delt with the lack of suspension eventually with this big spring loaded stem. The thing must have weighed a pound or two. The bike used a traditional quill style stem so this spring loaded thing was about all I could find. Turns out that the bike might even be collectable today. Should have hung on to it. That and half dozen other old bikes or cool cars.

well you used to have to have bare rims for rim brakes so it make painting at least that part of the rim pointless so you saw the chrome/silver/raw aluminium for so many years until disc brakes came to mountain biking. now you can paint your rim whatever you want.
I've been riding this bike for 7 years now! ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L It was a great bike the day I got it, put it together, and went on my first ride; more importantly it's an even better bike today. I've ridden trails, street, and skatepark all on this bike. I have replaced almost every part on the bike. Some stuff has broken: derailleurs, wheels, shifter. Everything else were upgrades. The only ramaing original parts are the frame, bottom bracket, and crank set. BB and cranks will be upgraded soon. The geometry isn't great but that is really the only draw back to how good a value this bike is. Even after all the money I've spent upgrading it's still a more affordable bike than I'd have bought from a proper bike shop, especially with full suspension. I've also learned a lot about bikes working on it over the years. It really is one of the best perchases I've ever made and hopefully it'll still be around for another 7 years.
i think there is more in your mind than the reallity its al the mind set and energy that you bring to the specific run as you can see S4 was the same time on the 29 and the mullet.... i think maybe because it was your last ride on the trails thats bring more pure ride and les brain disorder

For the next video I'm putting on the enduro suspension on the Alchemy and gonna test it against the Meta SX. To me, the Meta SX as I built it is a perfect bike and it's just so balanced and fun to ride. So we will see!
@@EvansMTBSaga yeah, built one myself 6 months ago and it has been the dream. Never tried any other mullets tho, so keep up the good work :)
congratulations on 81.2 t subs. you did gain lot of subs like past 8 days... ps u are best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fax
damn the video quality has really improved since he moved
Thanks dude!
You know what's even better??? Full on 27.5er. Not even joking. It's just more fun :D
May be more maneuverable but they aren’t gonna be as good when things get chunky but it’s a personal preference thing for sure, everyone likes something different
@@dylanperschon8479 with 2.5 or 2.6 tires and lower pressures they are brilliant on rough trails.
@@dimitriscsd still not as good as full 29 I’m sure they’re great still but nothing can beat the rollover from the 29s
@@dylanperschon8479 Agree to disagree! The only place where I believe a 29er is more efficient (and better) would probably be XC race bikes with minimum suspension.
whoaaa... I'm actually more surprised that you know your jdm cars. s2k is a perfect car to describe what the 27.5 rear is like. Glad you enjoyed the mullet!
Haha right! My mom owns an s2000 and I get to drive it here and there. I love that go cart feel. I hope my mom doesn't read this, but I've cornered that s2000 sooooo fast and it can handle anything 🤣
15 seconde in and im telling you right now i love the new editing.
Oh dude thanks for noticing! Tried hard to change it up
Hey Evan, SICK VIDEO! you got any ideas about streaming again?
Hey Evan! When ever im in Bentonville I was wondering I could ride your test loop with you sometime! It would be sick!
Yeah dude! When are you coming down? I love the new test loop
@@EvansMTBSaga I'll be there on Sunday next week through Saturday or Sunday, so basically a week, I'm in Texas so it's about an 8 hour drive
Oh sweet dude. Do you have Instagram? DM me! Maybe I'll have you record a clip or two of me 😂
Yeah I just sent a DM to you
well you used to have to have bare rims for rim brakes so it make painting at least that part of the rim pointless so you saw the chrome/silver/raw aluminium for so many years until disc brakes came to mountain biking. now you can paint your rim whatever you want.
Mullets are defiantly where it is at, especially if you like riding park, I’ve twisted my Scott ransoms geometry just so I could ride mullet 😂
Alright, you got me when you started explaining bikes mixed with cars😏🤙 good explanation btw🙌 new subscriber 🥳🥳
Haha glad you liked it! Have you driven an s2000 before? It's a perfect comparison hahahah
"It was not a KOM" story of my life
One day I'll get one again!
Yeww, great again mate. Getting better every vid keep it up!
I want this MTB species T-Shirt
Https://SagaMTB.com 😁
can you tell us or show us about your bmx history
please
For all of yall that cant be bothered to watch it mullets are better as he got. A 2 minutes difference on his lap time
Well done on the time!
Whistlindiesel?
@@EvansMTBSaga meant well done
I love my mullet emtb, it was born that way and is awsome
too many ads dood
we need to keep chrome wheels back in the 90s
It’s kinda strange seeing someone bring BMX style to mtb. They should make downhill BMX tracks like in BMX bandits (80s Oz film)
I remember my buddies in college making 69’ers. Always wish i got on the badwagon
Omg when you climb outputting more watts you have a shorter time crazy
LMNT is good stuff. I really like Robb Wolf too. He calls out all the health and diet BS
electrolyte drinks give me diarrhea ):
Ok, so how are you regularly pushing over 300W without pedaling?
That real time view sometimes is laggy
Awesome video!
You put down 30% more power on the climb with the smaller wheel of course it was faster 🤓
That explains why I'm struggling on hills on my 29er that I easily climbed on my 26 bike.
i think there is more in your mind than the reallity its al the mind set and energy that you bring to the specific run as you can see S4 was the same time on the 29 and the mullet.... i think maybe because it was your last ride on the trails thats bring more pure ride and les brain disorder
Daaamn i want a mullet now 😫
You told me to subscribe... So I did.
Love the videos ❤❤😍😍😍
Thanks big papa!
@@EvansMTBSaga Thanks for replying I love the videos and hope to go to Bentonville one day.😍😍
Hmm a mullet, never considered it before always keep both wheels same size, & that's a really good shirt reminds me of SEGA.
What is “better”? Faster does not mean better. I think it really comes down to how fun the bike is for you or the rider. More fun can equal better…
It's definitely tough to say what's better. Everything with bikes is pretty much subjective. But I'm trying to have fun with it acquiring data. I like getting numbers behind it
@@EvansMTBSaga the data is good for sure. How do we measure the fun factor? That’s probably the most important
