At this point, Chef John is the Marcella Hazan or Julia Child of the 21st century American home cooking. Reasonably international ingredients, with even forays into Korean and Persian cuisines, but always homecook friendly and the foods always deliver. I have had dinner parties with exclusively Chef John recipes. Thank you so much for everything!
Oh my god, many years ago I used to binge watch your videos and I completely forgot about your channel for many years , and five minites ago I was trying to sleep and all of a sudden I remembered your channel and your sense of humer, your voice always reminded me of one of my brothers voice ..I search on youtube trying to find your channel but I completly forgot the name of it .. I was so determined to find it.. I was squeezing my brain to rememer one of your recipes that I watched before so I can find the channel .. and then I remembered your falfel recipe so I write in search (falafel recipe 2009 ) and many channels poped up and yours was one of them .. I am so happy I find your channel again, its like reuniting with an old friend ❤
Personal tip...after the meat is browned, I like to pulse it in a handheld food chopper until it's ALMOST fine, like Taco Bell meat..it incorporates really well and makes rolling up whatever vehicle you choose for your rolls.
I make a low carb lasagna but I use sautéed cabbage as my “pasta” layer. I chop the cabbage and cook it in just a little bacon grease for extra flavor, then layer as I would a regular lasagna. My boyfriend and I love it!
THANK YOU so much for this low carb recipe. Type 2 Diabetes makes life very difficult to find low carb alternatives to carb heavy dishes I've loved. I know it's not a focus to this channel but when you do feature something like this it always makes me happy.
Hello Chef John, I've been following your channel for 10+ years, I still love watching your videos, listening that piano intro and outro makes me feel at home, excellent recipe! Greetings from México 🌮
I searched and couldn't find a good video or recipe on how to bake frozen fish and rice in tinfoil. This would be my food wish from Chef John. Best part of his videos is he gives you the why and reasoning on how to cook something, which gives me the ability to apply techniques to other recipes.
I just made this tonight and WOW...the flavor was incredible. I substituted mild Italian sausage for the turkey and when I do it again, I wont add the water to the sauce as mine came out a bit soggy, but man those crisp cheesy zucchini rolls were off the charts. Chef John strikes again!
Wish I had seen this before going to the store just now.. absolutely want to make this, I think I would enjoy this preparation more than lasagna or eggplant parm. Great idea, thanks chef!
Ok this looks AMAZING! I usually try to avoid pasta because carbs. This just hits all those pasta craving buttons without the pasta! I can;t wait to try making this myself!
I went into this thinking, "I am not a ground turkey fan but I bet he's got a trick up his sleeve." That would be the cream -- I can totally understand this working. Glad I had faith.
I saw this video this morning and knew instantly I had to make it. This is one of the best lasagnas I've ever had. I had to use my mandolin to cut the zucchini, but it was still very pliable after salting it. Thank you so much for a new twist on a classic!
Coincidentally, Lidia Bastianich just posted today her recipe for "Classic Bolognese Sauce" - I think this will make a KILLER combo with Chef John's recipe here.
Thank you for the low carb option. I have done this with regular lasagna noodles and have tried zucchini lasagna layered but that one is really hard to cut and enjoy. Recipe saved!
Miam miam j’adore 😋 I’m definitely going to try it. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have lots of zucchini in our garden I don’t know what to do about it. God bless
Made this tonight and unfortunately, I don’t think all the water came out of the zucchini but I will tell you what this was the best lasagna zucchini soup I’ve ever ever had in my life. ❤
Here in Brazil we call it Rondelli, a brazilian creation inspired by the Italian cuisine, using sliced lasagna pasta. Zucchini is usually used as an alternative for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance (and for zucchini lovers of course). Eggplant slices is an option too.
@@judithmatthews8460 There are some good vegan cheese substitutes out there. But just go into it thinking I'm not making a cheesy dish, I'm making a tasty one, and you won't be disappointed. Just watch out for salt levels
I was gifted these two massive zucchinis from my neighbor yesterday, nice timing chef hahaha . definitely going to somehow slice them like that, but possibly again vertically through the middle
I think ground turkey actually works really well in any dish with a tomato-based sauce, especially chili and lasagna. Not overly bland and neutral like ground chicken, but not as strong as beef
I normally rate a cooking video by my Salivate Index. In this case I started drooling within about 30 seconds. Therefore I hereby certify that this is a definite winner.
A good one, Chef! I love the idea and recipe. I'll need to make some modifications (but you're fine with that). The only concern is that slicing those Zucchini and rolling them with filling is a time-consuming task. So this is not something I'll do every other week.... Thanks!
I make this vegetarian by using ricotta, frozen spinach (squeeze), piece of bread, grated, mozzarella, seasoning (garlic S, P, basil) 1 egg. Mix. Place down center of prepared lasagna noodle. Roll up. Place seam side down in 9x 13 with tomato sauce in the bottom. Top with bechamel sauce, more mozzarella. Bake.
I believe that August 8th is National Leave Zucchini on you Neighbors' Porch day. I haven't seen any Zucchini come in from our garden this year. Everyone is welcome to come by with Produce, if you live near the Button on the Cuff of the Mitten. Our next-door neighbor did bring us a bag of cucumbers and early apples a couple days ago. She also seems not to have Zucchini going begging this year.
That looks amazing. I’d like to include this in my potluck list of favorites but I do have a question. How far in advance can I make this before baking? Also, can it stay warm in the oven for a while or will the zucchini turn to mush? That’s two questions, actually. 😁
I tried doing something like this but didn't salt the zucchini like that. Mine didn't turn out so great. I'll do it your way this weekend. It looks fantastic.
I just had my mind blown (again) by the price of meat at the grocery store. I’m going to have to resort to only occasionally making meat dishes for dinner. Please give some tasty grain and bean recipes for us involuntary vegetarians.
Zucchini Rolls! This will be healthier for me! Step 1: dump 6 pounds of different cheeses in a bowl 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, though, I love this channel and love these recipes. I just like to make jokes, too.
I made this tonight, 1 comment if your ricotta comes in 15oz tubs buy 2, I got 21 out of the 30, and a 10/14 holds 7/6 for 42 instead of your 30, so adjust your recipes as needed people.
Chef John is the Harry Houdini of making lasagna with Zucchini.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
👍😎👍
WIN
🤣🤣
But Houdini doesn't rhyme with Zucchini.

I just stared low carb again (6 days ago) and then I see this! You are a saint! I will make this. I have all of the ingredients.
I can't wait to try this!!! My only addition to the cheese filling will be freshly grated nutmeg. Thank you Chef John!
Chef John is the Chaka Kahn of his Zucchini a la Parmesan ❤🎉
Another fantastic way to use my garden zucchini’s! 😃. Thanks!

I am a low carb guy and was thinking that sliced eggplant would be easier to construct.
This looks amazing. I love veggie lasagna, so I’m sure I’ll love this even more! Can’t wait to try it. 😋
ill bring the wine over.
This is one of those meals that you'll eat before and after your dinner. An instant classic, Chef John
This is the Corvette of Courgette meals
Thank you Mr Chef John. I will be making this this weekend.
Love this, chef John, it relaxing and I don't even care that you eat meat...I'm hooked in 3 minutes.
Hello Chef John, I've been following your channel for 10+ years, I still love watching your videos, listening that piano intro and outro makes me feel at home, excellent recipe! Greetings from México 🌮
Always a Pleasure chef.
he definitely is a "pleasure chef". there's regular chefs, then there's the pleasure chefs. he is the pleasure model
Your shorts brought me back to your videos. Years ago I used o binge watch every single video of yours. Love your content!
What if it was "The Bear" but it's with Chef John just being super nice and wholesome and making Dad Jokes?
Half hour cooking sitcom, I'd watch it. Maybe Paul Giamatti can play Chef.

Really really nice recipe! Thank you Chef John. (For everything)

My wife and I made this yesterday, delicious!
Wish I had seen this before going to the store just now.. absolutely want to make this, I think I would enjoy this preparation more than lasagna or eggplant parm. Great idea, thanks chef!
Fabulous Chef John! Thank you!!
Made the zucchini lasagne yesterday. Even for the first time, it was a great succes.
Ok this looks AMAZING! I usually try to avoid pasta because carbs. This just hits all those pasta craving buttons without the pasta! I can;t wait to try making this myself!

What a beautiful recipe! You make my food wishes come true, Chef! Thank you!

We have so many huge zucchini from our garden so thank you for the timing on this!
Coincidentally, Lidia Bastianich just posted today her recipe for "Classic Bolognese Sauce" - I think this will make a KILLER combo with Chef John's recipe here.
Little intensive for a weekday night, but looks and sounds really good!
Absolutely delicious looking, I am probably making it tonight!
Look very appetizing and healthy
Thank you. God bless you
Thank you for the low carb option. I have done this with regular lasagna noodles and have tried zucchini lasagna layered but that one is really hard to cut and enjoy. Recipe saved!

I’m always looking for healthier lasagna alternatives, and this one looks amazing!
Looks absolutely delicious...😊

Keep the great vids coming Chef J!!
You did great work in the past.
chef John is such an inspiration.
Love this next time I'll make it this way.
Looks delish!
This just made my day. 😊
Oh, chef! I’m making this asap!
I was never this early! I am after all the guy that watches Chef John's video after a year goes by!
Hahhaha same
I recently learned about a Sicilian tomato based pesto sauce, I think it would be amazing with this.
My grandma can't eat beef and my mom can't eat pasta so this recipe came just in time!!!
I can’t eat dairy! 😢. But I like dreaming

Reminds me of manicotti kinda and also italian cheese enchiladas.
Perfect for the oversized zucchini you grew in your garden.
Chef John, can you do a Jamaican Curry Goat???
YUMMMMM ! !

This is more like Zucchini manicotti :) whichever, I am so trying this!

Awesome! Have you seen the zucchini ravioli that's going viral?
That looks amazing. I’d like to include this in my potluck list of favorites but I do have a question. How far in advance can I make this before baking? Also, can it stay warm in the oven for a while or will the zucchini turn to mush? That’s two questions, actually. 😁
I don’t like lasagna because of the pasta. But I am going to try this.
I tried doing something like this but didn't salt the zucchini like that. Mine didn't turn out so great. I'll do it your way this weekend. It looks fantastic.
I'm gonna do this, but with lasagna noodles
This is perfect for a keto diet. Thanks x
I’m going to make this and layer it on top of pasta 😬
I do a similar lasagna, but with eggplant sliced thin instead of pasta.
Wow, it's so good u had to watch 2x😂😂😂❤❤❤
What brand of marinara sauce do you prefer?
I wonder if Chef John will develop a low-carb recipe for the shark he just jumped
I just had my mind blown (again) by the price of meat at the grocery store. I’m going to have to resort to only occasionally making meat dishes for dinner. Please give some tasty grain and bean recipes for us involuntary vegetarians.
Amen, sister !
Zucchini rollatini!
This was delicious...however a little more difficult than what it looks like!
Zucchini Rolls! This will be healthier for me! Step 1: dump 6 pounds of different cheeses in a bowl 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, though, I love this channel and love these recipes. I just like to make jokes, too.
I hate zucchini, but I wanna try this...
i wonder if eggplant would work, like a Japanese eggplant sliced the same way?
🌞 Summer Zucchini 😎 Have you got some garden-fresh grown in your backyard?😉🤔
Yes he does. Talks about it very hot season
Will it work with eggplant too
Can also use eggplant
Pretty funny prep work. I know Chef John has a mandoline. I guess Chef John wants to make the recipe more accessible. Recipe looks pretty good.
that was old school veggie slicer...
I made this tonight, 1 comment if your ricotta comes in 15oz tubs buy 2, I got 21 out of the 30, and a 10/14 holds 7/6 for 42 instead of your 30, so adjust your recipes as needed people.
👍👍👍👍👍
The only thing this recipe is missing is some bechamel on top. I'm gonna try it next weekend
Ahh, using prepared marinara. Preparinara.
looks good. um... it's way too much work (for me) to ever try. but cute!!
Chef John, love you, but you missed calling this Zucchini Rollatini!
Two things that don't belong in lasagna...
Come on Chef John.
I just learned yesterday that zucchini is actually a fruit.
I will eat this. Turkey sausage is fine, but no meat also works for me.
Looks tasty. Doesn't look like lasagna, though.
Thinking I’m just going to layer those zucchini like they were lasagna pasta. Looked too time consuming doing that rolling.
