"2 minutes is better than nothing" - this was actually incredibly motivating!
That's what she said
He said the exact same time I seen ur comment lol
@@ThePitheS so you don't know women? ^^
but not by much
@@gundabalf 2dollar every day for the rest of us life for free isn't much at the beginning but after10years you'll get 7300 and that is a lot ain't it?😁
I thought _bloody hell, he's fast at arpeggios_ and then realised I was still on the 1.5x playspeed I normally watch videos in. Great tutorial.
Lmao!
Haha it is still fast for me at regular speed 🤣
Count Drunkula I though the same thing...only I was watching at .75x
I usually watch on 2x
haha i changed to 1.5 and the arpeggios went crazy :D
You're a very good teacher! I've looked at a lot of piano teachers online since I started on March 19th my 62nd birthday! I like your style. Thank you for being here for us! And congratulations on your new baby!
Congratulations you are a dad...god bless
I've checked out ALL of the really good teachers AND their routines to get you really playing well, and this Superman is far and away the best on RUclips! No arguments--I don't want to hear it! So there!
Definitely trying this tomorrow morning!! 😊 I'm a month old beginner here!
Piano practice before university? I'd be late every day bc once I start playing hours go by without me noticing it😂
Said this twice but big facts
@@tteerabeats9116 youtube bug lol 😂 happens sometimes idk why xD
As a music major I wish I could play for hours on end without noticing... When you turn a hobby into a career it becomes a lot more pressurising and no longer just for enjoyment :(
congrats on being a father, sending love and best wishes to your son ... and your videos really are helping me brother ... please keep them coming.
And my night routine includes "watching your videos" so that I could practice them in the morning! 😇
🙏🙏🙏
My wife would appreciate me doing this for sure

You're an incredible teacher Josef.
My keyboard arrived today and I feel as if I have learned so much after watching just two videos.
Thank you!
Last couple of days I am searching like a crazy for some tutorials but this one is so far the best!! I really love the fact there is the little sheet at the right corner as I struggle with reading notes. Josef, BIG thanks for what you are doing for us! :) and keep going please!
Chromatic scales with the 1-2-3 finger are amazing to strengthen the fingers.
Make sure that the faster you go, the more stacato the notes have to sound and less time is spent in the contact with the keys. Also practicing with 3-4-5 for chormatic is good.
I usually warm up with the arpeggios of Op 10 No1 bu Chopin for the right hand. after I learnt those arpeggios, there was very little repertoire I couldn't play.
For the left hand I practice the Revolutionary Etudes first arpeggios and I'm good to go. Wonderful exercises.
I love how you teach!! Very motivating!! Thank you for all your tips, lessons and creativity! New beginner here after a shoulder surgery! Learning at 64 years old!
I said I disagree with the part about being sloppy . Take your time and make sure that you're hitting is what you wanted to hit if you're doing octaves and jumping up and down back and forth and make sure that you're getting that distance proper every time . The more you focus on accuracy the more quickly accuracy will find you. When playing piano, accuracy is everything.
Speed is obtained through muscle memory. And muscle memory can be obtained by playing at any speed.
And once again an excellent video. Thank you very much
The way you speak of studying piano makes me feel so unachieved even if I have studied piano for almost 2 decades 😂 meaning to say I am glad I have finally found someone who can teach me to play better.
I did this for 10 minutes everyday, just after stretching my hands (
GuitarLessons365) and it helped a lot getting familiar with this kind of exercises and with getting my hands ready.
HOWEVER something that is really not highlighted enough is that you have to do these *correctly* and you should not go for speed.
I had to relearn how to do these at about *65 BPM* (always use a metronome while practicing!) and I'll bump up the BPM accordingly whenever I'll get really familiar with it.
Also I feel the arpeggios and scales should ascend and descend.
An excellent way to warm up and build strength and speed.
QUESTION: Do you have a similar video for the left hand?
Cheers,
Jonathan
I've been playing guitar for a year and just started picking up piano. Never realized how tough this would be haha. thanks for the tips!
Looks like we're on the same boat
El Loco Rift same, my keyboard just came in yesterday and I’ve been playing guitar for 2 years
I'm the same, but opposite. I teach piano, and just got the guitar, and what the hell? 😂 knowing theory and a different instrument just isn't enough. I've had quite the time trying to play the guitar.
Although, scales are easier on the guitar, because the shapes are all the same. Chords are a pain in the rear though.
Muscle memory. So interesting. I am learning that repetition is everything
Once again fantastic few minutes of morning motivation. Thank you Josef!
You're welcome Bill. I needed a routine like this for myself.
I know 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, 6/9, sus, pentatonic scales. Where I'm lacking is technique. Wow! This is a revelation. And what I like is that I don't need an hour to do this. ( I practice one hour per day @4.00 pm ). But this I can do; in the morning. Thank you
I do scales hands together and Hannon as a warm up, regardless of what time it is
Your enthusiasm is infectious, thank you Josef congrats with your baby, I'm a 39 year old dad learning piano with my 7 year old girl, will donate to your channel happy holidays.
40 hours per day of practice would make Ling Ling happy

yeet, two set gang!!!

Salad Bar if you can play it slow you can play it fast
Lovely
I did them all teacher. Thank You.
Thank you.
I can’t lie, this is video is a treasure 🙏🏽
Dude, this REALLY helped accelerate on the piano. Thank YOU! Amazing warm up routine. Seriously... exactly what I needed.
Can you tell me whether ur doing each exercise 5 min or 10 min? and each hand gets its own time correct?
I don’t really put a time on anything I do, I just do it til I’m bored and move on to something else.
Congrats on your new baby! Yes I'm sure there's less time now. LOVE your videos. So helpful and I'm brand new but learned a ton!!!
Thanks
I really enjoyed this simple practice routine! Already feeling the benefits to come in the find muscles. Thank You

No worries friends
This is perfect for my first self lesson, thanks!
This exercise is really your beginning stage of playing piano
Nice to start ..
Hai. Sir . Thanks
This is just what I have been looking for.
Congratulations on the baby!!
Love this! Im a big believer in a strong practice routine especially for beginners.
I love to watch your fingers dancing ❤❤❤
Im prety sure this was the best and simple piano practice video I have ever goten. Your videos are most appreciated!
The best teacher🙏
Great tutorial! Like the little yellow and purple light on the desk behind 😊
Ah. The new studio look. 👍
Right! Lockdown is nearly finished and suddenly I want to practise keyboard again. Bought a keyboard two years ago and only used it a couple times... I will give a try on your course! 🤞🏻
just thanks good sir
9 months ago ,your kid was 3 months hold, so it's this month!! Congratulations to you too! You're a good teacher
Congratulations!! On your new baby boy!!!
can you please suggest 80/20 portion of piano to practice for music production. And please also tell about the routine
I'm assuming you mean for digital production like with a DAW?
Theory is incredibly helpful for that, and just learning your scales and chords. Experiment with them as much as possible. The practices he showed will help you a lot with general technical capability over time.
This was very very helpful. I tried to watch a bunch of different videos for warm ups and they all went too fast and into more "complex" theory... I really enjoyed that this video was attainable for me and I could understand everything even though I've only been playing piano for one month and three weeks now!! I can imagine at any level of piano these are useful practises as well which makes it even better. Thanks so much for creating this 🙏🙏 I was so confused before on what to do when I first sat at my new piano 😅😅
I'm just getting started and this is awesome. Thank you
You're so welcome!
Great video. Congrats on the baby. Now more than a year old. Time flies!
Thank you for your time
You're very welcome
I like his office
One mindless exercise I just invented for myself was alternating between major and minor arpeggios and moving chromatically up the keyboard. C major, c minor, c# major, c# minor, D major....haven't actually applied it, but seems like a good way to teach my fingers and mind where all the keys are (not just the white ones) and a quick way to break out of the "everything in c major" rut
Fola the ProVerbalizer An exercise I’ve done is start at bottom C, playing the C major scale all the way up and down the keyboard, then move to C# and play that major scale all the way up and down the keyboard, then D and so on and so forth. Same can be done with minor scales or any other scale really.
CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE NEW BABY!🤗🤗
love u for this // love the staff on the top rite n the easy approach to consistent practice... hope i can stay on it
Good.
For 4th finger strengthening just arpeggiate a Cmin7 chord instead of a major one ;)
i will pratice this every day thank very much
Great piece of teaching man, highly rich in content, much appreciated
Glad you like it Liam
I m learning many more from you sir..tq so much for this lesson👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍❤❤❤❤
I'm 64 never played a piano 🎹 before I'm going to try because of your video prayers . Smiles 🙏🙏🙏🕎🔯🔯🔯
Congratulations proud Papa ❣
Enjoy your growing family, may each day be another day of growing together in a house filled with love, laughter & music ❣👧
Yes for sure. Part of me creating this video was for myself. I needed something I could fit in to keep the piano engine ticking over. I don't think letting dad practice piano is high on her priority list.
Oh yeah.
As a mother of 3, 1 with autism, I can tell you that you still need to maintain that portion of life of self personal growth. I once asked my Grandmother why her marriage still worked & she was happy.
She said you have to be friends, confidants, lovers & you have to enjoy what you do outside in your job or trade. If you aren't enjoying your own company, the likelihood is that no one else is either & you're not doing what you love.
She was a seamstress in New York & he worked on the trains for the railroad. They Loved what they did❣ Even after retirement she would sew & he would go visit train stations & work on model trains. They were so cute. In the elderly years one's weakness was compensated for the others strength. Like he was mostly deaf & blind but the brawn. So she shopped for the groceries & he carried them home💜
I just had to say that picture of the nun with the ruler sure brought back memories of my piano teacher. Congratulation on your next student...maybe a while until the baby is able to reach the keyboard. Thanks for the demo.
Great
Brilliant. Best Tutors are SIMPLE.
Speaking of left hand, Interesting how there are left handed guitars, and drums and percussion you can just flip the hand pattterns / reverse your setup, but I don't think anyone ever thought of making a "left handed" piano ...actually, probably pretty easy to do with midi
Damn, right🐏
My allegro 3 has that option
Thank you Sir!
You're welcome
Love the energy, British accent, coffee tips, variety of exercise! Videos are very enjoyable!!!
Thanks so much for this!! I see, you as many other players are using the Chordie app - I've purchased it, but for the life of me, even with author's help videos, I can't seem to get it to play nice with my DAW, FL Studio 20 - I've setup loopmidi, and the DAW works, but no Chordie notes....
Thank you. Today is 11-28-2019 5:36 PM. I will start tomorrow at 8:00 AM.
Do you do these with both hands? And do you recommend using chords other than C once we get comfortable?
Go Man Go
Great ending
wow he even put in the little note diagrams for when his fingers fumbled and pressed the wrong key for a sec that's dedication
nevermind im small brain it looks like he converted it to midi lol
Best video I found for beginners.
Excellent stuff. Thank you very much.
The way you said "You'll get it, you'll get it" at 6:23 to the struggling viewer while you play it effortlessly without looking down is hilarious lol
Thank you
Love your teaching style
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! YOUR AWESOME
Imma do it. Thank you so much. You explained it so well!
☕️ 😃 TYVM 🎹🎼 Josef is an awesome teacher.. I love his tutorials.. Top Man..
Very much like typing. I do both🥀🌺🌷🌸🌷🌺🥀🌺🌷🌸🌷🌺🌺🥀 Thankyou!
You are really good teatcher Thanks Mate
Glad you think so!
congrats on being a father
man- do a quick tutorial on that end jam .. . looks super fun.
You can check out Brendan Kavanaugh's channel for tutorials on most of the stuff he employed in that boogie woogie. Simple left hand stomp with right hand doing classic riffs
13:04 This is exactly the reason why I can't practice. The drills turn into little song ideas that I need to put down in my DAW or remind me of a song that I always wanted to play. *sigh*
You rock. Thanks
Cool
Very usefull Tool. Just dont mistake It with a warmup.
Such a cool dynamic man!!!
Loved ur class
Expectin more more inspriring clasess 😍😍😍
Useful videos sir. Thank you sir. Ksnm. India
When I'm doing the bird, and as I gain speed, a point comes when my hands are moving in their own, and really soon a point comes when I suddenly spot, because I feel I have no idea where this is going
Um it's normal you know? Once you are really used to it, then you can play it blindfolded. Also after a year without playing the piano, your brain won't remember how to play, but your hands will just magically play on it's own. Happened to me so it should happen to anyone like you.
@@margiecortez7905 I don't know about a year, but surely enough it works for 2-3 months.
And many a times when we are unable to spell a word, our hands automatically write it - all thanks to this magical muscle memory we have.
