Chromatic scales with the 1-2-3 finger are amazing to strengthen the fingers.
Make sure that the faster you go, the more stacato the notes have to sound and less time is spent in the contact with the keys. Also practicing with 3-4-5 for chormatic is good.
I usually warm up with the arpeggios of Op 10 No1 bu Chopin for the right hand. after I learnt those arpeggios, there was very little repertoire I couldn't play.
For the left hand I practice the Revolutionary Etudes first arpeggios and I'm good to go. Wonderful exercises.

I said I disagree with the part about being sloppy . Take your time and make sure that you're hitting is what you wanted to hit if you're doing octaves and jumping up and down back and forth and make sure that you're getting that distance proper every time . The more you focus on accuracy the more quickly accuracy will find you. When playing piano, accuracy is everything.
Speed is obtained through muscle memory. And muscle memory can be obtained by playing at any speed.
And once again an excellent video. Thank you very much

I did this for 10 minutes everyday, just after stretching my hands (
GuitarLessons365) and it helped a lot getting familiar with this kind of exercises and with getting my hands ready.
HOWEVER something that is really not highlighted enough is that you have to do these *correctly* and you should not go for speed.
I had to relearn how to do these at about *65 BPM* (always use a metronome while practicing!) and I'll bump up the BPM accordingly whenever I'll get really familiar with it.
Also I feel the arpeggios and scales should ascend and descend.

One mindless exercise I just invented for myself was alternating between major and minor arpeggios and moving chromatically up the keyboard. C major, c minor, c# major, c# minor, D major....haven't actually applied it, but seems like a good way to teach my fingers and mind where all the keys are (not just the white ones) and a quick way to break out of the "everything in c major" rut

    • @roialby7118
      @roialby7118 4 года назад

Fola the ProVerbalizer An exercise I’ve done is start at bottom C, playing the C major scale all the way up and down the keyboard, then move to C# and play that major scale all the way up and down the keyboard, then D and so on and so forth. Same can be done with minor scales or any other scale really.

      Oh yeah.
As a mother of 3, 1 with autism, I can tell you that you still need to maintain that portion of life of self personal growth. I once asked my Grandmother why her marriage still worked & she was happy.
She said you have to be friends, confidants, lovers & you have to enjoy what you do outside in your job or trade. If you aren't enjoying your own company, the likelihood is that no one else is either & you're not doing what you love.
She was a seamstress in New York & he worked on the trains for the railroad. They Loved what they did❣ Even after retirement she would sew & he would go visit train stations & work on model trains. They were so cute. In the elderly years one's weakness was compensated for the others strength. Like he was mostly deaf & blind but the brawn. So she shopped for the groceries & he carried them home💜

You can check out Brendan Kavanaugh's channel for tutorials on most of the stuff he employed in that boogie woogie. Simple left hand stomp with right hand doing classic riffs

13:04 This is exactly the reason why I can't practice. The drills turn into little song ideas that I need to put down in my DAW or remind me of a song that I always wanted to play. *sigh*

When I'm doing the bird, and as I gain speed, a point comes when my hands are moving in their own, and really soon a point comes when I suddenly spot, because I feel I have no idea where this is going

Um it's normal you know? Once you are really used to it, then you can play it blindfolded. Also after a year without playing the piano, your brain won't remember how to play, but your hands will just magically play on it's own. Happened to me so it should happen to anyone like you.

@@margiecortez7905 I don't know about a year, but surely enough it works for 2-3 months.
And many a times when we are unable to spell a word, our hands automatically write it - all thanks to this magical muscle memory we have.
