- I flew all the way to Texas for the Circuit Of The Americas F1 race to drive my rc car on the starting straight. Unfortunately last minute my chance of driving on the track was pulled. I spent so long building this RC car to beat a real F1 that I didn't want to waste it so I still did it in a shorter distance than the starting straight of COTA.

Yea but it's way lighter than the actual car. So its not that difficult to make it faster in a straight line. But the car might not be good in corners BC of low down force set up

That little electric motor has as much horsepower as my motorcycle 🤯
But your motorcycle probably makes a lot more torque in the process
@Christopher Armstrong it doesn't matter if the motor is electric or combustion.
Horsepower is simply a value calculated from torque at a given rpm.
Motor specs are usually given at the peak of said value. So for a combustion engine in a car it may be at 4500 rpm and 150nm of torque.
Now as electric engines have relatively constant curve over their rpm range, the kw or hp rating is often close to its max rpm rating.
Now the electric motors used in the rc car has very little torque but instead a ludicrous amount of rpm (probably 25k+ rpm).
So yes if you could have lossless gearing it wouldn't matter but, gearing that down for a motorcycle would be really inefficient.
It works on the rc car cause of the small wheels.
I agree that thing is immensely power packed. I'm always surprised how small the 700hp engines in electric vehicles are, especially because my 3kw motor on my mill isn't much smaller.

Electric motors actually have peak and constant torque(and linearly increasing mechanical power) from 0 rpm until the back-EMF is stronger than battery voltage. After that point the torque gradually decreases together with the power. So at max rpm the power is around half the peak.

Kevin Talbot has a 100 horse power car which does 196mph on less than half throttle he hasn't gone further becuase the tyres keep blowing off due to insane wheel spin.

How those little wheels are able to withstand that much force is insane already, but the fact that the entire car doesn't immediately destroy itself at that speed is even more insane.
If it was a Traxxas is definitely would’ve broke.
The smaller the wheel the more sturdy it can be without being heavy 😂.. not a huge pocket of air for wear and tear or much surface area to protect 😂

Doesn’t matter too much on this small a scale but would like to mention to people, F1 cad composites are very complex.
It’s not just carbon fibre, depending on what parts they want to make and what stressed they’ll go through they use different techniques aswell as different layer patterns to get strength in different directions while maintaining flexibility in others.
A good practical example of this is actually bikes. In MotoGP Ducati made a carbon frame years ago, but it was crap. The reason? They didn’t design it to flex and carbon is very rigid if you make it the strongest way. So they changed the layer pattern to allow it to twist but not compress or bend and the bike handled significantly better.
The same is true for F1, flexibility and brittleness are typically opposites, so if you make some parts TOO tough and rigid they will often have a VERY explosive failure event aswell as break the moment they hit that failure point, adding controlled levels of flex in allow for a less dangerous failure aswell as a small buffer between performance/stress max and explosive failure.
There’s more but just saying composites are EXTREMELY complex and advanced tech that takes YEARS just to study and master to an industry level.

I rode a 250 in Cleveland, OH for 3 years, including winter. Everyday. never missed day of work. Salt ate the brakes off foe the 3rd year. I was using my gears and feet with my girl on the back when she couldn't find another way in to work. I laid it down probably 15 times(vtwin softail) but never with her on it. I was a bartender, customers would show me pics of me riding that thier friends had sent them. Got a car for 300 bucks and drove it for 2 years. Now I drove off the lot with a brand new 2018 Optima fully paid before I started it. It's not new now, but I still feels like victory! Only thing is, when It snows, I get the urge to hop on a bike(true).

@@Skdjeise is not wrong though. He calculated the amounts of watt's by multiplying voltage with the amperage the motors pull. You can convert watt's to HP.
Edit: 20 hp is indeed crazy, its around 3-6hp per motor.

Idk, im looking right now. I was trying to find the website on the motors housing and havent het. What I have found is a 9.8 HP motor which only weighs 1.2 kg which is still very impressive.
They make 16 hp of maximum power and 9 hp of constant power.

@@647dakid5 I did and all I found is their motor specs. I didn't find anyone that actually put one of these motors on a dyno. They can say their motor can pull 15k watts but that's utter non sense. 416 amps from small lipo batteries and 6 gauge wire? Yeah right.

Bro it is faster. The rc car is fast in straight (still not faster since f1 reaches well over 200mph in most races and in some even 230mph and also f1 can turn at 150mph+ while you’d probably need to slow down to 20 on the rc car to turn so if u were to make each of them complete a lap f1 would win by a ton. Also go on the kerb with the rc car and it’s over.
