- In this video I share making an Australian Vanilla Extract with Australian grown vanilla beans.
I demonstrate the method for how to make vanilla extract at home, if you have always wondered how to make vanilla extract at home.
And this one is a special one for us... as it is Aussie Vanilla Extract!

Woo hoo!!!! We finally added Aussie beans to our vanilla extracts.
With multiple varieties on the go at the moment, I will share a future video on them all. It has been interesting to watch the differences in the way they are extracting. But I would really love to open them up with you to smell and even sample the differences.
Last year when visiting Cairns I bought some vanilla beans directly from the farmer who grew them. The beans have made a delicious extract 😊
How fabulous to buy your beans directly from the farm!!! Did you have to process the beans when you got them?
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus No processing needed, I put the beans directly into vodka.
Hi. I popped onto the Wild Vanilla website and had a look at ordering some for myself. I noticed the weights are on the website, depending on whether extra long, long or standard : Extra Long (20cm+ with an average weight of 7g)
Long (18-20cm with an average weight of 5g)
Standard (15-17cm with an average weight of 3.8g) - hopefully that helps you out when you're making your next batch 🙂
I missed that on their website and it would be super helpful to work out how much to order.
Another amazing video.
My first attempt at vanilla extract is about 2 months away from being ready.
I have an order due to arrive next week also to start another lot also.
I am going to try a honey infused bourbon as a small batch and another vodka one.
I ll be interested to see how this one goes for you.
Thanks a bunch Lindsey. I always appreciate your lovely comments and I'm super excited hearing your 1st batch isn't too far away 😀
