Greetings from Minnesota, US. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
Hi Jennifer 👋 Thanks for your lovely comment ✨️
Another great video - chocolate chip cookies are my faves! You have SO much energy with all you do! I still just love listening to your accent... could do it all day 💚 Big hugs to you guys!
Thanks a bunch for the lovely comment. We always love your positivity and support ✨️ I hope you are now enjoying your family time on the island 💕
I’ve been making this sally wise recipe for years and always push the final sauce through a mouli and sieve out the whole spices which makes a lovely thick sauce. I can also attest that it lasts for at least two years in simply capped, sterilised bottles. We’ve made with both plums and apricots but my favourite is plum. I had intended to try for the first time her Worcestershire sauce with lemons this winter but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience Lauren. I need to give it a go with the solids in the sauce too next batch.
Thank you, I really enjoy your content and often try things you teach, very rewarding.
Awwww.... thank you so much for sharing this, as it is exactly why we share 💕
Thanks for taking the time to film your morning! And the worcestershire leather is a great idea!
Isn't it cool!!! It was so unexpected. But is already proving a great product on the shelf for our winter cooks like stews.
We're loving the sunnier days, bring us SPRING! Although I am getting major fomo as every time I think ' I should plant this' I realise I don't have a garden this time 😂
YUM those cookies looked divine, great use of extra eggs, and it so special being able to cook fresh cookies so quickly and easily. nothing better than a fresh batch
also great tip using the old ginger in worstershire sauce!
I'm so with you... bring on Spring ✨️🌼
All of Aus is now your Spring garden 😀
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus hahaha just plant a little bit in everyone's garden, i love that hahaha
Thanks for sharing :) I don't strain my sauce i use a bamix blender stick , we all love the fruit in the sauce , just shake it before we use it
@@kerry1963qld ooohhhh... now that is an interesting concept. Do you tie the woody spices in a spice bag?
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus yes thats how ive always done mine , I make it every year and if there is any of the thicker bits left it gets used on meats , you will need more bottles tho , i buy the proper sauce bottles
@kerry1963qld Really appreciate you sharing your tip Kerry. I haven't heard anyone doing it, and it certainly makes sense. I'm going to try a bottle thicker next time too, to see what the family likes. Thanks again 😀
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus you will love it :) our family and friends are always asking for another bottle :)
hello from South Australia! Great to have an aussie homesteader showing us all the canning tips .... I watch a lot of american homesteading utube channels and their accents get soooo annoying! lol On one of your videos about the different types of canning jars, you ordered a few different types (weck, ball, vacola) from the same company. Could you please tell me the company/website name please? Love your content and how you show using every little bit of a fruit ... canning, dehydrating plums used in your worchestershire sauce .... no waste cooking!
Hi in SA, original South Australian myself and still get back to visit family ✨️
There are two main places we use for jars. One is Aussie Mason (I'm actually going to grab some footage picking up jars from their warehouse, asI had a bit of breakage of quarts a couple of weeks ago 😞, so have bought some new ones). I also get jarsonline through Ozfarmer. They are where I get the Weck jars. But for weck seals just do a Google search as they can often be found cheaper by the bag elsewhere.
Hope this helps 😀
With our US accents, do you miss the upspeak? We find it really difficult to listen to because, to us, it signifies a question. Each sentence (most) ended in upspeak needs to be reinterpreted. I am not dissing Aussies, this is a genuine question.
@@az55544 with me I follow a lot of people in the US and also UK but because our seasons are opposite to yours I’ve got to remember the tips for 6 months later, so I love finding an Aussie content creator…slowly building my people to subscribe to😊
From SA as well😊 as
@@Lunasgarden2021 I struggled to find Aussie content, but then connected with many others through the Australian Homesteaders Community on Facebook. Also follow plenty overseas too.
Great video. I have never made this sauce, always store bought. Maybe I will try this recipe. It's plum season here in Texas.
Thanks a bunch Sonya. This version of the sauce has quite different ingredients to a traditional version (which actually uses anchovies!) But incredibly tastes really similar and it a great to use the abundance of plums in a different way in season.
We are so like American now.
We never had home steading!
We had farms & properties!!!
It is language that has roots in history and also talks today to people than even practice many of the traditional skills associated with homesteading into urban properties. But I wouldn't get too hung up on the terminology Nelle. It's at the heart sharing the knowledge and value this way of life can offer ✨️
You can flip the fruit roll up stage of puree over and keep dehydrating. You'll probably get to powder eventually!
Thanks Jennifer 😀 I have powdered plum alone, but I suspect with all the added sugar and molasses in this recipe it might stay tacky or need a huge amount of powerto take further. But it honestly is really a wonderful product in this state, as it dissolves down into the cooks. A total suprise, but very nifty 😀
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus And it is not going to waste! I do this with firecider, too. Delicious..
@jenniferr2057 Fire cider is so on my list to do! With all the winter bugs our family has been having, I wish I already had. Any chance you have a recipe you would be happy to share?
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus absolutely. I will look back in my notes and get back to you. But I have to be honest I don't really use recipes.. do you have elderflower and elderberry there that's my very large family go to for immune boosting and that you were actually sick we steer clear of the fire cider.
@jenniferr2057 we do... but we have never had a berry off it. I'm thinking it may be a variety that doesn't produce the berries after flowering. 😞
New sub here, hi from Townsville
Welcome Sharon 👋 So lovely you have found us and hope you enjoy our shares 😀
G'day Rachel.
Cookies look great. Postage is pretty cheap from one Victorian to another you know. 😜 I was a little worried about your steamer lid fitting and nice one on getting all the jars in on one go.
One of the kids made Hedgehog today, well yesterday as it's after 1am, so I'm off to grab some after being triggered by the cookies.
Take care.
Daz.
Hehe. That postage goes two ways Daz. Although I'm not sure how that beautiful looking layered beef dish would look after a trip with Australia Post 😂
I actually watched your vid again yesterday, showing it to hubby. It's exactly the sort of meal he likes making and he is really keen to give it a go.
Although with him, I expect he will find a way to weave in some chilli.
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus What a man. I like his style. I could imagine this with big pieces of jalapeno sautéed and mixed through it. Maybe a little in the cheese on top too. Hmmmm... Getting hungry now.
@@MyAussieGardenKitchen sounds like perfection right there 👌👌👌
Hi, new to the channel, so glad I found you, it’s great to get someone in au for inspiration and seasonal stuff that relates to our time zone. Just wondering where you purchased the steam canner, having trouble finding one on google the same brand that’s not from overseas. Thanks Lisa.
Hi Lisa, so wonderful you found us and hope you enjoy our shares 😀 The steam canner was purchased quite a few years back through Amazon. It has had a name change since then, but is essentially this one here.

@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus thanks so much for responding so fast and supplying the link.
Can I ask where did you get the snap on lids for the Fowler jars. Loved the video
Thanks
Hi Jenny, those lids were from Mitre 10 in the preserving section where they have all the Fowlers equipment.
Brilliant video, I am off to make wosterschire (spelling*) sauce! Would you waterbath them for shelf stability if steam canning wasn't available?
Thanks a bunch for your lovely comment Alison and it is so lovely to hear this has inspired you 💕✨️
I would waterbath for the exact same time personally.
Are the snap lids for the Fowlers jars Vacola brand and where can I buy them?
They sure are. I bought them from Mitre 10 in the spot with all the Fowlers equipment.
Do you have a recipe for Worcestershire sauce if you could send it I would be very grateful
The one I use is Sally Wise's recipe. She has a great website and it can be found here -
