As I stay “active”, but sometimes barely holding onto any true belief of or in an in control loving deity, struggling with addiction, frustration, uncertainty, anger in myself and others, scared for my kids and family trying to make it in these times, I come back to this podcast and hear strong spiritual messages like this. So much truth of the could be the spirit here. I hope that what I feel is the spirit. I want it to be, that’s for sure. ❤

Ashly, thanks so much for your podcasts! In another one you mentioned choosing not to smoke cigarettes anymore and I am struggling with that right now. I keep procrastinating and putting off quitting but I feel that the Lord wants me to. I hope I can follow your example!

The comment about you need to really want to know the truth. Is so true, I returned to the church in Oct 1971 after being inactive for 6 years. I met and fell for a lovely girl who died the day after I asked her to marry me. I spent two months pondering what was true and what did the church have and was that true. Then I read the Book of Mormon, thru in late Oct. When I finished, I wanted more than anything else to know truth. God answered my prayer unmistakably with a witness that continues to this day.

Thank you for sharing your experience of overcoming the discouragement you felt from that bishop. I have a leadership calling in the church and worry that something I do or say will hurt someone’s testimony. This is a good reminder that everyone is responsible for both extending and accepting grace. Thank you! ❤

I love how Lauren said that if you really want to know the truth, you have to let go of your own thoughts and biases. You have to surrender to God and desire to understand Him. I haven’t left the Church, but this advice has been key for me in searching for answers about issues in Church history, etc. As I became more humble and submissive (Mosiah 3:19), I received spiritual answers from God that resolved my questions. I wouldn’t trade the answers I’ve received for anything.

Thanks Ashly for bringing Lauren’s inspiring story. I think Lauren is very blessed she was able to so easily walk away from her past, unlike her Dad who will no doubt be forever haunted by his choices. Perhaps she was blessed so she would not suffer because of the poor choices of her parents.

Lauren here! I am the editor of the podcast and run the RUclips channel. Thanks for listening and commenting. I will say it is hard to fit all the details of someone's life story into one hour. There was a lot of suffering and consequences that I endured because of my own choices and because of my parent's. It took a lot of work and discipline for me to do what I did. I apologize if I made it come across as an easy feat to walk away from my old life and strain family relationships, but it was lonely and very difficult. I carried guilt and shame for a long time until Christ finally helped me forgive myself, that is what the atonement is about and he can do the same for my father. We don't have to be haunted by our past but we can still remember in order to learn lessons and use those lessons to help others and make better choices. It doesn't mean we don't regret things, but Christ truly can break the chains of the past for us.

@@Come.Back.Podcast thanks Lauren for taking the time to reply! I did not mean to minimise your experience of repentance. It’s great to read more about your experience with the atonement. It struck me when you said in the podcast that you don’t have an addictive personality. In contrast with your Dad who had his life ruined by drugs and alcohol. Some people are fortunate and can walk away from these things relatively unscathed. I hope your Dad is doing much better now.

When you seek answers from the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible, God can't help you because you have turned your back on Him. Therefore this leaves the door open for Satan (II Corinthians 11:14-15) to step into your life with a false christ or prophet showing you signs and wonders to lead you away from the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. God Himself warns us about this in MATTHEW 24:23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.."
Mormons teach and believe that their jesus is the brother of Satan, which contradicts what God says in His Bible that Jesus is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.
So Mormons, which Jesus do you believe in?
    A. Your jesus of the Book of Mormon, who is the brother of Satan.
    OR
    B. The Jesus of the Bible, who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.

Yes Sir I agree however the brainwashing is so heavy. I have had debates with Muslims going better and that is saying something. They will at least try to see what you are saying. If R Nelson their prophet told them to cash out every dime they had drop it off before boarding the spaceship to Kolab they would do it. It is so sad
