  • This video is an overview and unboxing of the Thetford 365 Porta Potti cassette toilet. I also show you how it works. With an abundance of cheap options out there, I thought I would take a minute and tell everyone why I settled on this model of toilet for our off grid cabin / camping needs and why I think it is a best buy.

    Good video, but one thing people may want to consider is to not pre-fill the bowl with water. If going #2, open the vent right when you’re ready to go and flush as you’re going. This maneuver keeps any waste from sitting in the bowl that will likely stick to the bowl. Just a great tip I saw elsewhere. Thanks for the video!

    This is awesome. A friend of mine is moving into a storage building to save money for a home and needs a few portable options to be more sanitary. I think I'll buy this for him as a gift to make things a lil more comfy. Great review! I think this will help him alot. Thanks so much!!!!😊

    Great Video ! Man I knew so little about these things, I thought the lever in front separated the Bottom From the Top ! Good to be reminded that like a Marine Head, you need to add water to the bowl before use. In our little truck camper, this kind of toilet is the only option. Ours came with a porta-potty labeled "Winnegago", closer inspection will probably reveal it it a re-badged Thetford or Dometic. Greatful for the tutorial. Now to find something that will help digest the waste, without stinking up the place with perfume !

    Thanks.. good video. I had the same decision to make on the "Curve" or this model. I am choosing this model for pretty much the same reasons you stated which helped my decision. This model is slightly shorter, which which is good for me as it could be stowed under my bed in my mini camper. But has the same capacity as the "Curve."

    Very good review I've made up ma mind I'm getting this one. I've been researching potable RV toilet for 2 months now and could not come to a conclusion. My biggest worry was leaks while driving.

    Excellent review of how to put it together and empty as I just bought the exact one and the instructions that come with it are a bit howdydoody lol.

    Had great service from my 365 for over 10 years. One advantage over unknown brands is spares, should you need a new seal they are readily available. About to buy a new 365 as my piston pump has packed up & they cost almost as much as a new loo.

    Hello and thanks for the video. In fact, there is a version of the curve model with electrical flushing (with "E" in the product name) and one with the manual pump (with "P" in the product name)

    Thanks for the video 👍👍 it would have been nice to see you sit on it (not with pants down😂 lol) when on the floor just to sort of gauge how big it looks

      I should have done that. Sorry. It is just about as tall as a standard house toilet.

      You would have some shit splatters in places just pump more water and wipe it out with toilet paper and then flush it.

    A couple concerns,
    1. No holding tank chemicals? YES you need them!
    2. With the inside of the bowl being so shallow I suspect while doing your #2 that with water in the bowl( as you demonstrated) it’s highly likely that whatever you excrete will splash back on you. Had mine 22 years (doing surveillance) and that WILL happen.
    3. Don’t really need chemicals in the top tank. Only for purists. LOL!

    • @franny5295
      @franny5295 2 месяца назад

      I found some real chemicals. The formaldehyde is neutralized with urine and in a space that small, there won't be an excess dumped. By the time it's full of pee, I'm coating my bowl to make it non stick, I want to be able to "flush" with no more than a squish of water from a portable bidet thing so that most of the liquid in the holding tank is urine.

    As a man who can easily clog a regular toilet, how hard is it to do multiple flushes during the deed? Have you ever had a situation where your log is too big to go down?

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  2 года назад

      Haven't had that problem
      You can flush all you want and even hold the trap door open while you go.

  • @iamwhoiam9529
    @iamwhoiam9529 Год назад

    This may sound weird but use non stick spray or something similar to coat the bowl every once in a while and it’ll help stuff not stick as the water and waste won’t want to mix with the silicone or oil and it should last about a week spending in usage but reduce stickage

    The whole "put water in the bowl before you do your business" is like a marine toilet. Same as when you're sailing on someone's yacht.

    I think it's funny all the language people use to avoid calling it what it really is. It's a shitter, a crapper, a royal throne. It's where you take a shit. 👍

      @@JackofAllMasterofNone Well, 1000's seem so dumb they are using "composting" toilets, and then putting their untreated human waste into the dry waste ( trash can) stream where other humans and animals are sure to come into contact with the pathogens ( germs and viruses) in their shit.. which is the Most Irresponsible Health Practice possible, short of just shitting in the gutter. Fully 1/3 of the human population is of below average IQ... and the average of 100 ain't that bright. As you correctly said.. you can't help them.. cause there ain't no cure for stupid.
