This scene was pure magic. I laughed so hard when they were rocking out together to Speedwagon and then at the end of the scene...I'm not ashamed to admit I got a little misty-eyed. To go from full-on comedy to gentle drama so effectively is a unique skill. This is such a great time to be a Karate Kid fan.
Exactly. .kudos to the writers, and actors, both adult and kids. First thought the advertisement was a practical joke, but got hooked on the first two episodes. Ended up subscribing to youtube red just to binge watch the rest. Really glad they got the original actors to come back for this. .
The kids are there just to catch younger generations to the Fandom. Personally, I don't care scenes where the kids are involved, so I just forward those scenes until I see scenes where the original cast is.
the scene after this with Johnny and Daniel in the bar together is my favorite from the entire season. they're this close to finally burying the hatchet, but can't quite do it. pretty great writing.
cineman73 you know what's so satisfying about this series? Iv been the Karate Kid for a long time, and I always wondered if Daniel and Johnny would become friends after their match. As weird as it sounds, it gave me some kind of closure lol. Don't you get that feeling?

That scene was them burying the hatchet. Spoilers for season 1. They got drunk and agreed to have a friendly sparring match back at Daniels house. What stopped them from burying the hatchet was, Daniel being a father figure to Robby that Johnny never could, do I say Johnny was justified for being angry yes and no, reason why this is so gray is cause Robby was there to come clean to Daniel, but that was what broke the hatchet since Robby defended Daniel and not his dad, killed him cause he couldn't fight his son.
"I remember, I kicked your ass around that corner." "Oh yeah, how'd that end?" Daniel isn't Daniel without a snarky, flirty comeback. This is quality writing and this relationship is making me hurt in all the best ways.
Kreese, Mike Barns, and Terry Silver. That might be the point where we find out that Johnny is a bad ass not a bad guy. That is why Barns meshed so well with Kreese and Silver, he is willing to do those crazy things that they are to ruin Danielle and Myagi, and that is not who Johnny is or ever was.

I.N.G. Playz my favorite scene was Daniel at the graveyard. It was genius saving that until half way in the season. When you hear Miyagi say Daniel-San and they flash back to his lesson about balance I got chills. Then Daniel did kata at the end to that music it was amazing.
I sense some Rocky 3 vibes. Namely in the sense that you have two guys who were/are rivals right now, but yet there’s seeds being sown to where the two can be friends. Hopefully.
MMZERO9 And what's really neat is the writers actually referenced the ending of Rocky III in this episode, because they knew that's what the audience would be thinking...though I doubt Daniel and Johnny will ever be as tight as Rocky and Apollo. (Not unless Daniel has to help train Johnny, or Johnny help train Daniel, to take down Mike Barnes....though that could be cool.)
I could see it being more like Valentine and Cates in 48 Hours or Walsh and The Duke in Midnight Run. Common goal, but still antagonistic. They won't ever be friendly and I'm okay with that. Respect matters more.
I'll be honest, when I heard they were making a tv show from the Karate kid my heart sank. I thought it'd be terrible and something that would be cancelled after one season. Back in 2012 I cycled route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica LA. On my rest day before I made my way up to San Francisco I made a special ride to visit the Laruso apartment which was a 20 mile ride north from Santa Monica in Reseda. I found the place and hung around there for 2 hours in a nostalgia trance. I could see through the gate that the pool was in use too and a few kids playing in it unlike the film. I remember going into the complex but it was coded metal gate instead of the wooden saloon style one Daniel kicks open in the film, I walked in behind a resident of the complex. I walked right up to Daniel's apartment as well and through the alley to Mr Miyagi's apartment . I would never for the life or me have thought that a few years later both Ralph Macchio and William Zabka would come back here to reprise their roles which for me is the best ever film!
I hope one day they'll become good maybe best friends and fight side by side. Watching this episode made me think "wow they're finally opening to each other, they can become friends". If there is a second season coming up I hope they will
I hope they will too. Johnny and Daniel have so much in common. It's a bromance in the making if only they can get past their bullshit to see it. Hopefully Kreese coming in will bring them together.

Shit, that's brilliant! They take on Kreese, Silver, and Barnes and kick the ever-loving shit out of them. Then their kids get married, they become in-laws and open a dojo together. lol
Yeah this movie/show hits the perfect spot for nostalgia. It's done so poorly so often, but this show leans into it and still manages to pull it off. Can't say enough good things about it
This is one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie. There's great potential for friendship between these two, but the friendship is always just out of reach. The writers could not have done a better job with this story.
If Daniel learned what Kyler did to Sam in the movie theatre, he might have actually been quite glad about Johnny and Miguel handing him a well deserved pounding.
Think they're gonna end up as friends by the end of the series. They both start to realize there is more to each other and their past than what they each believed. Daniel I dont think really hates Johnny just Cobra Kai. Then you got Johnny who tells Miguel how he saw his and Daniel past and that he saw Daniel as the bully who was trying to ruin his life. Once they realize they are treating and viewing each other wrong they'll probably end up as friends.
Why does everybody want Daniel to be "friends" with this former psychopath? Like you all don't remember the original movie lol. Yes, this reboot is excellent & it's good to see these two back on the screen but c'mon...
I think it's going to take something heroic, like Johnny saving Daniel's life (or vice versa) in some crazy scuffle or something for them to fully become friends.Just a possible scenario. Yeah Johnny was a complete dick in the past, although people change. But save the bromance for the end of the series.
True. I love how star-crossed it all is for them. Like Miyagi said, "not so different". They're perfect complements to one another, and in any other life would probably be inseparable. In this life, they were & still are at odds. There's still time for them to eventually, finally put it behind them, though. Like you said, they both seem to want to.
At first I thought he was referring to the beach fight. But then I realised it was the Halloween fight. He could easily have killed Daniel if that last flying kick had landed.
Tbh, for me, Mr. Miyagi would be so proud. He taught karate to daniel not just to defend himself, but to have someone from being nightmare before to turn into something like this scene. This is what he wanted all along for daniel, no hatred

I loved this scene where Daniel and Johnny 1st realize they have some thing in common, and unexpectingly have a bonding moment over a few drinks. Turns out it ws the start of a new era.
Love this series. Love seeing BOTH Johnny and Daniel using martial arts to get their respective lives on track. I enjoyed this episode very much (like each one of them). It was cool to see them finally becoming friends. Loved the idea of a "Rocky 3" type match. Little plot hole here though is that the Seven Seas apartment complex was demolished in the 3rd movie. But its easy to overlook that because its such a great plot element in this show.
You could fanwank that the building wasn't torn down because it became a local historical landmark (which gave it protection) or the company that was going to tear it down ran out of money and couldn't proceed with their plans. BTW - loved your channel and your review of CK!
I got a pic with them at MegaCon with my daughter, I treasure that picture. She had no idea who they were but I explained how much they were a huge part of my life as an 11-year old kid. I can so identify with this scene meeting up with old bullies and how life goes on.
@0:44 The moment they start singing in harmony is the precise moment that you realize that Daniel and Johnny are the same person, split down the middle.
For the first time they saw they weren’t all that different- definitely not enough to mend the gap, but a start that has continued to build(and be demolished only to rebuild again) throughout the series. It may be corny at times but the talent is truly there, both in the writing and performances. Excellent show.
I watched this series with the wife. I turned to her and said "if they both start singing I'm gonna piss myself laughing" I didn't actually per, but almost.
Great moment, a recognition and bonding moment 😎💪👍. I can remember watching all of these movies in the theater. Good times good much simpler times, I know I'm going to sound old but I miss em.
I love that this narrative can use real flashbacks and not made up ones. It gives me chills everytime they cut to footage of these same people over 30 years ago.

I will say, given how William Zabka and Ralph Macchio played themselves on How I Met Your Mother and really embraced the impact of The Karate Kid showed they were always proud of this franchise. A part of me looks back and thinks maybe that's what helped keep Cobra Kai in the back of their minds.

I got a pic with them at MegaCon with my daughter, I treasure that picture. She had no idea who they were but I explained how much they were a huge part of my life as an 11-year old kid. I can so identify with this scene meeting up with old bullies and how life goes on.
Amazing video
"Relax Dan-Yo" LOL!

The moment they start singing in harmony is the precise moment that you realize that Daniel and Johnny are the same person, split down the middle.
😁😁 it’s amazing to c these two together again 😁😁
I love this show, so many people can relate to a lot of things. I relate to both of them so I like them equally
Yeah
I love this scene Daniel San having good memories back before the rivalry started
Randell Goering where did you watch this. I thought it was a movie coming out . im confused
Jennifer Mcintosh it's a RUclips red tv series!!

*_"Johnny, Johnny, come on we gotta get ba...this guy is such a dick!!"_*
LOL!!!
The writing of this show is amazing, the way they continue the characters could make you think that the karate kid movies were a spin-off the show
The story between these two was great in this series re living where they grew up it hits close to home
One of the best shows nowadays. Crazy.
For all you who arent from our time when this song came out .

Reo Speedwagon - Take It On The Run
Lyrics
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin' around
They say you got a boy friend
You're up there every weekend
They're talkin' about you and it's bringin' me down
But I know the neighborhood
And talk is cheap when the story is good
And the tales grow taller on down the line
So I'm telling you, babe
That I don't think it's true, babe
Or even if it is keep this in mind
You take it on the run baby
If that's the way you want it baby
Then I don't want you around
I don't believe it, not for a minute
You're under the gun so you take it on the run
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin' around
So I'm telling you, babe
That I don't think it's true, babe
Or even if it is keep this in mind
You take it on the run baby
If that's the way you want it baby
Then I don't want you around
I don't believe it, not for a minute
You're under the gun so you take it on the run
You take it on the run baby
If that's the way you want it baby
Then I don't want you around
I don't believe it, not for a minute
You're under the gun so you take it on the run
You take it on the run baby
If that's the way you want it baby
Then I don't need you around
I don't believe it, not for a minute
You're under the gun so you take it on the run
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin' around
I am absolutely so incredibly deleriously excited this series has come to all us fans. Jeez I feel 12 again! I dk who I adore more out of these 2 incredible leading men. Why have these guys not gotten more screen play in these past years?!?!?!
What it takes to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend

@@Red-Ranger-November-1994 cool I loved that show that was my childhood

Johnny He's My Guy And He is My Favorite Corba Kai Character
"Johnny, Johnny, we gotta get back!"
Under his breath: "This guy's such a dick!"
Anybody else start tearing up when they started to flash back to the original Karate Kid? Or was that just me?
The flashbacks hurt
Funny how REO speedwagon bonds these two. Long live the 80s!
I will say, given how William Zabka and Ralph Macchio played themselves on How I Met Your Mother and really embraced the impact of The Karate Kid showed they were always proud of this franchise. A part of me looks back and thinks maybe that's what helped keep Cobra Kai in the back of their minds.
"This guy is such a dick!" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
