I'd be very surprised if he was but I'd put it more down to the fact that he and the other AEW diehards are just in denial that AEW wasn't the WWE-killer that they thought it was going to be. These are the same people that still blame WWE (or more specifically, Vince) for ECW going out of business so when AEW came into existence they honestly thought there was a chance that they could get what they wanted. The only problem was that the product was never a true competitor to the WWE when they could barely beat NXT, VKM stopped giving a shit about them (hence he stopped giving out big contracts and released a whole bunch of people) and then he sold WWE to TKO, making them more valuable than TK could ever possibly imagine. To top everything off Vince gets exposed (finally) and is replaced by HHH at the helm, basically meaning that every wrestling fan got what they wanted EXCEPT the AEW diehards! You can't make this shit up.
Moxley's plastic bag spot had nothing in common with Terry Funk's. It was a clear reference to the recent Crow remake. Just go watch the trailer, the shot is right there.
He’s already Neo Moxley from Romper Stomper. I guess CTE and repeated blood loss from thumbtacks and Gussett boards now makes him think Nazis are “badass and dope!” now.

Problem with aew. You watch one show, and you basically watch them all. They put on great wrestling ppv shows. But there isn't anything new that they didn't do before
Aew is ECW with way more money behind them. They don’t have to worry about a lack of funding. But anybody that knows about the history of ECW from their tv product to how that business was run, you’ll see why I say that. Good for the moment, but their ceiling and room for growth was only but so much
You are correct, but ECW booked venues accordingly and that is the difference. When you saw ECW on TV it was packed whether it was a bingo hall in Philly or the Manhattan center, ECW’s shows were intense, now AEW’s shows are dull because there attendance is embarrassing and if anyone has been to a MLB or NFL game the fans give the event energy and that’s where AEW falls drastically short😉
Conrad Thompson and Dave Meltzer are the greatest advocates that AEW has. Neo Moxley is an idiot who thinks he’s in Romper Stomper now.
What year does Conrad think it is? He starts talking about the video games kids are playing these days and he just describes GTA Vice City. That game is over 20 years old.
Exactly, he’s a middle aged money mark that constantly thinks it’s 2003.
Hahah true...great game tho
Jesus Conrad... you don't see an issue with a plastic bag... utter garbage. Had Ambrose and Claudio beat the bejesus out of Bryan Danielson while Wheeler was held back, that would have done far mroe to get them over, than a BS plastic bag spot. The Cinder Block, Syringe, and Chairshot were complete nonsense. Again, if these two were encouraged to beat eachother using the Cage, you know, the weapon they were surrounded by, instead of nonsense. "The chair was gimmicked", oh thank you, that helps with my suspension of disbelief.
This is why you are not a full time wrestling promoter Conrad, because you are clueless.
He's political and doesn't want to step on any of his "friends" toes which is why he "calls it like he sees it" when it comes to the fans and not the wrestlers. An absolute clown.
@@justint8635 But that's not even being political, it's just being biased.
@@bennwardhaugh3013 He means political in terms of networking not the governmental sense. He's just saying Conrad likes being friends with wrestlers and Meltzers that he won't say anything that would jeopardize his access to them. He won't do the same for WWE because the people in charge in the WWE don't care about blowing journalists, it actually seems more like they have contempt for them which is kind of understandable because they lie non stop about the WWE in the worst ways they can for the most part, they also try to hurt their business left and right by spoiling things for their own benefit.
@@Maggot39967 I know that but I honestly feel that it's gone well beyond that point.
Eric.. get rid of this guy.
Conrad trying to school Eric about advertisers on tv😂😂. Dude is either on AEW’s payroll or he should be. He and Dave must talk a lot 😂😂😂
The bag over head, as Conrad mentioned, was done by Terry Funk to Ric Flair. But here’s the big difference…
Funk and Flair had a huge storyline going, and Funk had major heat.
Mox just did it to his partner and friend, Bryan, for absolutely no reason, and this is how Mox turns heel?
It made no sense and was obviously done to only generate some buzz.
For no reason? You just gave the reason jn your comment.. to turn him heel. Good lord
You should also point out because advertisers were starting to pull their money, Funk was forced to go back on tv and apologize for the spot.
@@getsoldfastpodcast7461 I think he's trying to say that it's a cheap way to get there. As opposed to two guys who had a rivalry that got so out of hand that it built up to that spot.
If that is how he “turns heel”, how does he progress from there on his heel run? If his first act was to try and suffocate a guy what is next? You gotta get bigger or it flops
@@danielh5583 we just saw a man light another man’s childhood home on fire after the other man broke into his house and menaced his newborn.. I’m sure they’ll think of something
Conrad: You've never seen that before because...it's dumb! As someone who's been hit with item not gimmicked, it's never a good call ad in NO WAY showed the audience how 'bad ass' I was. If nothing else it shortened my run. This doesn't help the business.
Conrad must be on the payroll for Khan. Unreal shilling. To be fair, he looks like the caricature aew fan.
@@bennwardhaugh3013 Very well said.
Moxley's plastic bag spot had nothing in common with Terry Funk's. It was a clear reference to the recent Crow remake. Just go watch the trailer, the shot is right there.
Trust Mox to try and use something from a terrible film.
He’s already Neo Moxley from Romper Stomper. I guess CTE and repeated blood loss from thumbtacks and Gussett boards now makes him think Nazis are “badass and dope!” now.
@@nickhughes8179 Hearing Brian Last read the description to Corney was one of the funniest things I've heard in a little while.
The constant shilling of Conrad makes this podcast half unbearable
Conrad keeps saying “evolution” regarding things that make the business regress.
That's something their other shills say also. How is it the evolution of wrestling when it's not the industry standard? It's just indie garbage on national TV
Evolution aka lost 35 percent of viewers in 3 years.
Exactly. If you leave a banana on a shelf for a week, does it evolve or does it rot? According to Conrad and fans like him, it evolves.
Conrad himself said what sponsors? So you wanna drive away potential sponsors away too? That's a mighty genius strategy. Calling Darby Allin & Plumber Moxley "spectacles". Man Eric, How do you tolerate this guy seriously???
Conrad finally stops talking at 02:41.
Thanks 😂
Thank you for the skip.
Unfortunately he keeps interrupting EZE. So we can't completely avoid him.
Conrad is trying really hard to defend that garbage
The syringe through the cheek was disgusting. Just a vile thing to see.
Yes it was , like watching Conrad at a buffet level disgusting.
I woke and saw some pictures in my RUclips feed from the event. My thoughts were " There was a PPV? " and "great, more torture porn. Very unique in AEW".
Hardcore stuff has its place. AEW does it way too often and they are lousy at it.
@@dkupke A bloody grudge match after a good and personal feud is fine. But using cinder blocks and sticking syringes into somebody's cheek has nothing to do with wrestling. It's completely stupid and it certainly doesn't help AEW loves these "matches" for no good reason.
@@BulletClub444Life exactly. Cody bleeding during the match with Dustin on the first ever ppv was awesome, upped the drama. Darby Allin on the windshield was totally unweeded and honestly not fun to watch, his arm was shredded.
I agree with Bishoff. That match was totally gross and unnecessary : using needles and concrete is begging for disaster .
Now that I know the cinderblock was real, makes those spots even look way dumber.
It was clearly real, didn't you see how it scraped Pages back? And it didn't squish in any.
@@matthewblackwood4704 in the moment I wasn’t thinking of it. It looks even dumber in hindsight.
Especially when Rick Rude's career ended b/c of a similar spot
They are resorting "shock" to try to gain momentum. Its not going to work and it comes off as desperate. It feels like a showcase of talentless mud show amateur wrestlers. AEW will only last as long as TK wants to fit the bill.
So until Shad leaves everything he has left to his daughter.
Conrad just insults people's intelligence. Shocking he's in the mortgage industry
It’s easy to sell debt to rubes, especially in the south.
He does scummy loans, dude is trash.
In what sense ? I am genuinely curious.@@adamwalls5865
I'm not going to go digging myself but;
Does anyone remember what their response to James Mitchel's cocaine spot on THAT NWA Pay Per View last year?
So sad to see Conrad become such a clown. He’s arguing FOR the company to not reach casuals and grow the business. How dare they try to make money. Insane
Become? This is the same guy who almost killed his father in law to milk a quick buck from him.
Always wondered why everyone think Danielson is one of great wrestlers, a lot of kicks n stomping on dudes chest. Just dont see it
Why is a co-host being so biased?
AEW is all out garbage!
Conrad is incredibly useless.
Eric's face at the start when Conrad gushed about how good it was. I love it
The ppv was crap
Aew is a clown show. Bischoff is correct. This kind of crap is what meltzer adores .
With it going on MAX more people are gonna watch now. Unfortunately
Conrad’s opening simping for AEW was almost as disgusting as as the needle spot.
When you constantly have to explain all the reasons why these programs aren't so bad as you think, it usually is as bad as you think.
Justifying that it is a ppv is silly, didn’t NWA end up killing a television deal because they ended a ppv with implied cocaine?
“Never happened before even on indies” CZW nearly every show…
Hey Conrad you forget, AEW TV sucks and it’s made for absolutely nobody except marks on the verge of a heart attack like you
conrad deflecting hard. Not about influence on kids, it just sucked
The block was “an evolution of the business”!!??? lol
Jokes!!!
Conrad Thompson and Dave Meltzer are the greatest advocates that AEW has. I am baffled that with all the star power they have, as well as the deep pockets Tony Khan has, they can't fill arenas, get decent ratings, and generate decent revenue. Personally, I prefer to keep up with TNA and MLW than AEW.
It's true, Conrad is not just the ultimate Marky Nark. He is a delusional Mark who likes the biggest pile of garbage, no matter what is presented to us. If he were a real wrestling fan, he would have hated all of this AEW skeptical
It honestly shocks me that Conrad doesn't have a law degree, because he could be the Devil's lawyer.
Conrad is an aew mark and he will never see anything bad or offensive about what aew does
Conrad trying to sell this nonsense is wild.
AEW just sucks now
“You saw thumbtacks in a ladies match”
-Conrad
I haven't heard anybody say "think of the children" , but just that it's stupid and dangerous
I call BS on Duck Hunt being Conrad's favorite game as a kid.
AEW : Snuff Film
I’ve never watched aew because I had a feeling it was gonna be trash. And it is.
The bag on the head was extremely stupid to begin with, because you can just poke a hole or tear it with literally just 1 finger.
AEW needs to focus on the wrestling and storylines then shock value
“But..but…muh AEW Eric 😢” -Confatass Thompson
Indy Mudshow Garbage wrestling at its peak was AEW All Out 2024. The two most talked about spots are what made it so, without them the matches wouldve been far far better
Conrad is such a mark for AEW. He won’t be honest because he wants the benefits they give him or can give him.
Just keep it real, it’s bogus bs wrestling and Indy garbage. It’s why the ratings are garbage.
Conrad just talks about whatever he wants. He loves his straw man arguments
I wish I could have seen the fanboy smile on Conrad’s face disappear when Eric called it “garbage “. I bet it was the same look when he learned about Santa😂
AEW continues retaining sub par talent giving tv time to garbage wrestlers. If they dialed in storylines things would be better off.
